Author's Note: I've made a decision to completely change the formatting of this series, so I can better depict emotion and use more descriptive words after the dialogue. I had been formatting this as if it were an HSMTMTS spinoff series, but I realized that, for the specific story I want to tell, that's not going to work, so here we are. The formatting on Chapters 1-3 will be updated within the next 24-48 hours. For now, while I finish that and Chapter 4 up, I wanted to give you all a preview as to what's coming, so here is just a tiny snippet from the new chapter of Emma's Journey At East High. Enjoy.

"Wait, "whether you're not going to be with me for homecoming?" What do you mean?" Nini asks me in confusion.

"I mean what I mean Nini. I'm taking a chance on myself by going to the homecoming dance, and I'm not looking back on it." I replied, proudly.

"Well, look at you making your way in the world." Kourtney remarks in amazement.

"I'd say. I'm so proud of you Em. You're taking the major step in the world that I've been telling you to take for a long time now." Nini says, proud as ever for me and the steps that I'm willing to take.

"Thank you Nini. It'll be just odd going as, ya know, a single gal and all that…" I stated, almost in embarrassment at the idea I'd be going to the homecoming dance without a date to it.

"Don't be embarrassed about that Em. The point is you're taking a chance on yourself. You shouldn't worry about that. Just go on your own, be yourself, try and make some friends, and everything will be ok." Nini reassures me.

"I suppose you're right. It'll just be kind of a lot not having you there. You're normally there for me.." I stated.

"You need to take every chance you can to stand on your own. Nini isn't going to always be here to help you." Kourtney remarks.

"Kourt's right. You need to learn as quickly as possible how to interact with people on your own." Nini adds.

"I guess that's true." I stated.
