There's a big house, full of puppies of different breeds, there's Dalmatians, German Shepherds, Labs, Golden Retrievers, Aussies and Border Collies, there are even mixed breeds. On a corner was one German Shepherd laying with a Dally. The German Shepherd looks tired, he hasn't taken off his police uniform as he did every time he came home. He supposedly had to take care of the pups that day along with his mate, but the police department had called him in for an emergency and he had been out all day. His Mate, a Dalmatian, had 3 little spots under her eyes, 3 more spots on her left ear and 2 spots on her right ear, one big and one small. She had 1 blue collar which she loved. She had her paws colored black, while the tips were white. She looked at the German Shepherd with love, she knew he had been working a lot to accumulate 1 month of vacations so they could visit their families. It was in the afternoon, they were alone with the pups, who were playing with one another. Suddenly, one of the pups, a dalmatian mix with border collie approached them and said:
Uncle Chase, aunt Dolly, could you tell us the story again? - He said loudly, catching all the puppy's attention, as the story was quite a popular one
-Story, story, story, STORY! - the word passed from mouth to mouth until all the puppies were close to Chase and Dolly, keen ears and eyes posed on them, even though some of them knew the story by heart they always enjoyed the twists and how it was told.
Chase chuckled lightly
-Well, seeing as your parents aren't home yet then I can tell you, just until they return. - he said as he looked at his mate with love in his eyes, remembering the first time they met. - Well...
It all started one day in a beautiful town named Adventure Bay, where a German shepherd named Chase was playing with his friends. As they played, we changed scenes towards the lookout where Ryder was watching them play hide and seek...
-What good pups- he said as he picked up his pup-pad to play the most difficult level of the game
Time fled by as he's doing this and before he knew it, it was night already and the pups were sleeping in their pup houses. He checked his clock.
- Shit - he swore, as a 14 year old he had learnt that language from school, he didn't use it a lot, but this was way too much. The clock read 4:15 a.m. which meant Ryder had spent all night playing in his pup pad. He then went to his bedroom and tried to sleep, failing in the attempt, he decided to go on a walk to clear his mind.
As he tiptoed out, he found his first pup, the one that made him start the PAW Patrol, Chase, who was also trying to sleep in his pup house.
-Hello Ryder sir- said Chase in a tired voice as he tried to stand up
-Go back to sleep- Ryder told him- I'm just going for a walk.
Ryder went to the woods to visit another dog he knew was there, he had been watching this one since he arrived
-Hello Patch- he said as he closed the distance to Patch's den, a simple den. Camouflaged on the outside by leaves, it looked just like a patch of overgrown grass.
-Hello Ryder- Patch said
-How are you doing? - Ryder responded
-Just came to check how's my brother doing
-Marshall is doing well, do you want to pay him a visit?
-Yes please, I need to tell him something, can we go right now? - said Patch as he picked up a sound of rustling leaves as furs moved through the undergrowth, sending chills through his fur - there's rumors of marauders roaming in this forest.
They started their trip back to the lookout but when they were about to reach the end of the forest...
A net appeared and trapped both Ryder and Patch, throwing them into the air. It seemed like this person trying to capture them wanted to make a grand entrance as the net moved to face the dawn, facing the east. As if by magic, the sun rose in that very moment and direction and an outline of their captor shone in the dawn light, as the person stepped out of the shadows it turned to be... Cruella de Vil.
As Ryder and Patch tried to escape two more people appeared, one was a tall, lanky guy, appearing to be in his mid fifties and the other one was a short fat man. Patch looked at them, they seemed familiar, he knew them from somewhere, he didn't recognize them, but as those two guys stepped closer he could have a better view. The guys wore masks, black ones covering their heads, the tall one had a pointy nose and big ears and the smaller one had also big ears, although not as big as the tall one and had a shorter nose at the middle of his stubby face. Something was off from them, their faces seemed too big for the back of the head, like they were wearing the black mask over another mask to disguise their identities.
-Horace me lad, there's the little brat that ruined our plan, we have finally captured him and we'll make him pay! - said the tall one faking a familiar voice., Patch knew those names. Horace was the short, fat man and Jasper was the tall lanky man. They didn't look like any of the ones who they were trying to imitate.
As the three villains congratulated each other after their clean catch, Ryder was thinking of a plan, one of them could escape and tell the others, Patch could easily squeeze between the nets if given a push. He could warn Chase and bring him here... No, that was waaaay too dangerous for Chase. Patch could warn Chase and help him make a stronghold of the lookout to resist Cruella's attacks, yes, that's a better plan
Ryder told Patch his plan to get help and Patch agreed to do so, in part because he was afraid of enclosed spaces and in part because it was the only plausible plan to use in that exact same moment.
At the same time that Patch was trying to escape the net, Chase was waking up again from a troubled sleep, which contained Cruella and him being separated from Ryder and was preparing his megaphone to wake up the others. Patch managed to squeeze through the net and fell onto the temporary den he's been living on. It was not a luxury den like what he had experienced in the past, helping Thunderbolt in the show he had earned a good salary, but this wasn't the kind of room you would expect from an actor. First of all, it was a small den. Just a makeshift bed and a night table, both made out of materials he found in his wanderings in the forest. Now you may be asking why he lived there and not at the lookout. Well, he didn't live there, he was just spying on his brother Marshall. As he was spying on him (definitely not because he was worried about him getting burned alive in a fire thanks to a book he read that made him cry) he couldn't go to the lookout.
-Chase! - sounded in the distance and it's familiar voice tried to find its name in Chase's brain, he was confused. That British accent so distinguishable was something that rang bells, but he wasn't sure if the voice was from the dog he thought was. It couldn't be, He hadn't seen him in a long time and it would be such a surprise if he was in Canada and not in Hollywood filming more episodes.
-Patch! - Chase shouted as he caught sight of a very familiar figure in the woods coming towards him, both pups had a history together as friends, along with Marshall they were inseparable back in England when they were younger, and yes, Chase did live in London for some time before returning to Canada along with Marshall.
-Chase, there's no time to lose - Patch said almost out of breath as he closed the distance remaining between both pups with agility- Ryder is trapped by Cruella and we need to rescue him - That couldn't be... Ryder was playing him a trick. How in hell did Patch get here so fast? All of those questions rounded on Chase's brain as he stared at Patch.
After a moment of hesitation and staring at Chase, both he and Patch run towards where Cruella was and it seemed like they arrived just in time to see them load Ryder into a broken down black van. While the pups were shocked seeing them, Chase recalled that sense of authority, of power Cruella de Vil had wherever she went, along with the exotic animal furs she always seemed to wear and the tobacco she used to smoke, anyone could smell that from miles away. Patch had expected it all to be a dream, nothing of this could be real. Cruella making a triumphant return? his thoughts were shattered as he heard Cruella say:
-If that Dalmatian brat isn't coming, then we will take his owner to lure him towards our claws- she laughed evilly and manically as the 2 masked people loaded Ryder into a van
-Oh no- said Chase in a cracked voice, too terrified to move, but at the same time wanting to be at his owner's side.
Patch, who was less affected, managed to see a white paper being thrown off the back door of the van, if it was Ryder he wouldn't be surprised as the only thing he needed to do was throw it at the semi open door and it would let it fall no problem.
-Wait, I see a note on the floor, do you think that maybe Ryder is telling us where to go? - He asked, trying to cheer Chase up, as they reached the note Chase picked it up it was heavier than it looked, almost like it had something camouflaged on the inside. Ryder was gone, and the only thing they had remaining from him was the note, Chase had an idea and knew that it would need almost the whole team to make it work.
-We'll have to consult with the others about this- Said Chase as he tried to wake up everyone by using the emergency call to the lookout
-PAW Patrol... to the lookout - Chase's voice cracked when he said those words, they belonged to Ryder. Being the de-facto leader of the PAW Patrol when Ryder wasn't available was not always easy to do. The pups hadn't woken up so Chase called again, this time from the lookout and in a more confident way.
-PAW Patrol, to the lookout, this is an emergency! - the pup tags sounded again and woke the pups, who, stranged to be called by Chase, stumbled through the elevator. Marshall didn't have an accident this time, as there were mysteriously no toys at the lookout.
-What happened? - Skye asks as the pups tumble out of the elevator as marshall was too tired to say anything. That changed when they saw only Chase in Ryder's place, which made them uneasy. Taking a deep breath, Chase announced:
-Pups, Ryder has been taken Hostage by Cruella de V... - He tried to finish his sentence but he was interrupted by the shout of a freaked out Marshall:
-CRUELLA? - To say that Chase was like Marshall on his inside was an understatement. Chase, who had seen his owner, the one who picked him up and saved him from being run over by a truck in Adventure City being kidnapped by the person he had heard a lot from Marshall and Patch.
-Yes, I saw it with my own eyes- says Patch, scaring the life off from the agitated pups as he passed unnoticed at their blind spot, definitely not hacking the cameras to see what Marshall was doing as they tumbled out of the elevator. The elevator started going down and then going up as all elevators should do, but the pups were so shocked that they forgot that Chase had used the emergency call, therefore calling all the pups with exception of Liberty, Wild Cat, Rex and Tracker. The pups scattered to hide, all except Chase and Patch, who knew who were the strangers, had found hiding places as the Twins and Everest stepped out of the elevator. Chase greeted them absently as they had been reading the note while the other pups scattered
-I see you received the call- said Chase as they were joined by the others -, good - He explained what had happened to Ryder -, now we need to rescue Ryder from Cruella
-But we don't know where is she- said Marshall, recovering from his embarrassment as all the pups were doing at the same time, shaking their heads in amusement
-We think we have a clue, - Said Chase as he pressed a green button in the keyboard and a USB connector appeared and the small note converted to a small size Flash Drive
-That's the flash drive that we were working on, it was a little project but was cancelled because it didn't work well- said Rocky
-It's our only hope to find Ryder, it needs to work- said Chase in a determined tone
Chase swept his gaze over the crowd of dogs. Skye, an intelligent and agile pup, likes flying and helping others out, Chase considered her as his sister. Rocky, the intelligent mixed breed that loved recycling and would do everything to keep the city clean. Rubble, the youngest of the group, loved digging and building, the PAW Patrol had had a construction pup before, but because of family issues they had to let her go. Zuma, the water pup, loyal to everyone, specially Rocky and Chase, and by far Chase could see he had a MASSIVE crush on Ella. Finally Marshall, Chase's best friend, they were brothers along with Patch, when Chase was still a pup he had met Patch, he had been arriving with Thunderbolt from London after defeating Cruella DeVil. They had made a good friendship and when Patch had returned to London he had invited Chase to go with him, after convincing Ryder they had caught a flight. When they reached the big city they were met by Marshall, the clumsy pup Patch had talked a lot about, they instantly formed a trouble trio and went through the streets of London causing trouble. When it was time to return Marshall came with them, Marshall went with Chase to Adventure bay where they lived until now. They also brought Skye from the airport where she had been, they were happy now, they were both friends and brothers. Everest was... well... Everest, she loved snow and loved using her rig. Tuck and Ella, the twins, one of the newest members of the group, were inseparable and Chase could see that they supported each other a lot, they had gone far with this method and he was proud of them. Finally, his gaze ended on the computer. If he would've put in more attention watching the pups, he would've seen that Everest had been watching him with dreamy eyes, but he just watched them fast, as part of his training he had to record each an every movement of his victims, or friends in this case but he was so worried about Ryder that it slipped his mind. The computer was showing a video of the inside of the van and the masked man making as Horace was saying.
-They'll never know that we are going to the master's house don't they, can we take a better shortcut to prison? - He sounded really insecure, and there was a hint of fear in his voice.
-Huh? - the man acting as Jasper said absentmindedly, he wasn't paying attention to the fat one
-We've always failed, don't you think it's time for us to stop doing this? - Horace said, sounding like he was having second thoughts about what they had done
-Horace me lad, did you take the tablet from him? - said Jasper as he started the engine of the van, completely ignoring his brother's question.
-No, I'll take it now,' - said Horace as he went to the back of the van and took the pup-pad. The USB stopped playing
-We need to stop them from getting to the De Vil house- Said Patch and Marshall in unison as they knew what horrors could happen to Ryder if he reached that house.
-It's a day's time from here if travelling in our rigs - finished Patch, he had a rig. it was a normal vehicle but Patch loved to ride it whenever he visited the Lookout
-Let's go then – said Chase, quickly directing everyone to the slide. Almost everyone was sliding down when Patch walked over towards Chase, who was about to let him go down the elevator to get his rig.
-Chase- said Patch in an uneasy tone- Cruella is very intelligent and she must've done something too, you know... Stop us before we reach her so be pre...
-CHASE- Rubble's cry echoed through the slide and into the lookout- my rig won't start
-Mine neither - said Marshall, followed by Zuma, Rocky, and Skye.
-I'll try on Ryder's ATV- said Chase as he tried unsuccessfully to start first Ryder's ATV and then his police rig- Rocky, can you repair the rigs?
-In a sec- said Rocky as he checked his automatized toolbox which he had made with recycled items, who was also damaged by Cruella, who by this moment had a seemingly unstoppable plan - It won't open, even if it opened, I will need one month total if I work day and night to repair them.
-I think it's 2 weeks of walking from here but we'll need to split in groups of 3 – Patch said, - I know a back entrance, but we're gonna need intelligence and someone tall and strong to open it and a water pup to disable cameras and alarms, for this, Chase, Zuma and Ella will come with me... Marshall, you'll need more force to enter from the side, you take Tuck to pick the lock, Rocky to disable the alarm and Everest, with your ice powers you can disable all cams while Rubble mounts a distraction in the front door.
-Wait - said Chase - Tuck, Ella, Everest, can you check your rigs?
Tuck and Ella entered their shared rig and started it no problem, same with Everest. Patch got excited with this and directed another plan.
-I was thinking of walking in one group until we were close enough, but now as we have 2 rigs we can use them in one group, because I have an idea, we will enter full guns blazing. Marshall, your group will be the same, you can move faster. We're going to the pier to get some heavy gun help. Everest use your snowmobile's sled to transport everyone until you are close enough. Here, use these collars to ignite your powers only when needed. With that, and when everyone was ready. Chase gave the signal to start:
-Paw Patrol is on a Roll! - said Chase and they started walking towards Cruella's hideout
