Later that day, Rukia and Renji was walking towards Itachigo's house. "Are you sure that we could trust Itachigo with a mission this important?" Renji asked Rukia. "I'm sure of it, Renji. Itachigo is one of the strongest soul reapers in the thirteen court guard squads. I'm sure he can handle it." She answered.
They stopped in front of Itachigo's house before walking up to the door and ringing the doorbell. "Hold on a minute, please." Itachigo said. All of a sudden, there was a loud sound coming from behind the door. "I said, sit down, jeez. I wish you would listen to me every once in a while." He told somebody. Rukia and Renji both looked at each other and looked back to the door as it opened up. "Sorry about that. Come in." He said to them as he signaled them to enter his house.
"Is everything alright, Itachigo?" Renji asked as he and Rukia walked towards the living room. "Yeah, what was that noise? And you were talking to somebody." Rukia said. "Oh that was nothing. Trust me. Anyway, what is this important mission that you have assigned to me?" Itachigo asked."Right, you are going to watch over this kid named Soul. Make sure he doesn't get hurt or anything like that. If he gets in trouble, you have to bail him out." Rukia said.
"Crap. I have to be THAT guy's bodyguard? How long?" asked Itachigo.
"Two weeks." Renji said. Itachigo knew Soul. He was an old friend of his and Dark's. Soul would always get into trouble with his friend Phoenix. "Can this get any worse?" Itachigo thought to himself. "By the way, make sure you don't do any unnecessary crap. Okay?" Said Rukia. " Yeah, yeah. I got it. Don't worry I'll handle this. I promise."
He said to Rukia and Renji. All of a sudden, a bang happened overhead and everybody looked up wondering what made the noise.
"Um, Itachigo. What was that just now?" Asked Rukia. "What do you mean? I didn't hear anything. I guess you guys should head back now, huh?" Itachigo said while pushing the two out the door. I'll see you guys tomorrow, okay? He said before he quickly shut the door. "Seriously, I'm starting to have second thoughts about this. Like, what was that weird noise?"
Renji asked as he and Rukia was walking back to the Seireitei. "Come on now, Renji. You know how Itachigo is. I mean, he's the most likely to keep Soul in check...Despite not liking the guy half the time." She responded. "I guess so. I just hope nothing bad happens." Renji said.
The next day, Itachigo woke up with a yawn. He stretched his arms and looked out the window, smiling at the just rising sun. He got up and went about his business. He went to take a shower and when he went past the mirror, he saw his were crisscrossed on his stomach, another was a slash across the left shoulder blade and the most memorable one was the scar from when he was stabbed while fighting a hollow with the wound just missing his heart.
He can clearly remember that night...Itachigo was still a 13 court squad member and he was sent out on a mission to save a village from a hollow attack. Itachigo spotted the hollow attacking a little girl and as soon as the hollow was about to kill the girl, he rushed to her rescue and was able to block the blow with his body. The other soul reapers were quickly on the scene and dispatched the hollow quickly. Itachigo was sent to the medical team and was being treated for his stab wound. He still visits the girl every now and then to see how she is.
