Chapter 17 Brain Overflow

Blackwargreymon and Kira were sitting around a fire that had been made about an hour ago. Both had sat in silence lost in their own thoughts. Because of the incident with MetalEtemon their trip was going to take an extra day. Kira poked a stick into the fire as her thoughts rolled around in her head. Not that I would have had anything to do with that metal monkey but is it really possible? For a digimon and a human to become that kind of partners? Even though it still sent shivers up Kira's spine to even think of that, in the same thought she was also curious. Kira chanced a glance at Blackwargreymon. His eyes were closed and his arms were crossed over his chest. Kira knew he was meditating, even though it wasn't a proper meditative stance it was a relaxed one that many used. Even in this position though he looked strong and powerful. It still puzzled Kira that this powerful digimon still needed her to help make him stronger. The battle with MetalEtemon proved his point of needing her after all. He is so powerful already, and my digivice only makes him stronger. What happens when I have no more to give him and he becomes the strongest digimon in the entire digital world? Is that why he needs me? And what happens when he does become that powerful? What would happen to her? These thoughts plagued her to no end. While her thoughts turned, Blackwargreymon's thoughts were in a way similar. He too wondered if a human and a digimon could in fact become mates. Never in his mind did Blackwargreymon ever thing of pairing with a female digimon. He never thought he would be able too when he was just a program. Now he was a true live digimon and that thought was now possible. Looking at all the digimon in his mind that Blackwargreymon had come across none of the females seemed appealing to him. Then his thoughts drifted to Kira. True she was a human but her spirit was that of a fighting digimon. He admired how she tried so hard to not be a burden on him. How she fought for herself instead of calling for him. She truly meant that she didn't want to cause unnecessary trouble for him. But he could also see how she longed to be able to allow someone else to be there for her and her not have all the responsibility of keeping herself alive to herself. She needs me. No matter how much she trys to say otherwise she needs me. And as I realize I need her. Someone who gives him a reason to fight, a reason to keep going, someone who looks up to him and appreciates all he does for them. Kira was the one he wanted. Kira was the one he wanted to protect and care for. At first he thought it was because they were partners and he was supposed to feel like that. No. A true partnership was based on true feelings, not because they had too, because they wanted too. Blackwargreymon couldn't say anything more, but he knew he truly cared for Kira. For now that was good enough. Hearing a yawn he opened his eyes and looked to Kira. She was still staring at the fire with an intense gaze that he knew was from deep thought.

"Kira, you will lose your site if you stare at that fire any harder." he said trying to shake her out of her thoughts.

"Hmm?" Kira looked up at him and then shook her head realizing what he said. "Guess your right. Just thinking on things I guess."

"Such as?"

"Mostly the battle with you and MetalEtemon" she said covering up her true thoughts, though not really lying either.

"Why?"

"Just caught me off guard that you truly do need me to help you. Not trying to sound mean or anything, but I wasn't so sure you were telling the truth about needing me to power you up. Now I have seen for myself."

Blackwargreymon nodded his head. "I do need you. My power grows each time I receive that power boost from you."

"So I saw. I think I may have figured something out by that fight."

"What is that?"

"Well when you told me how strong you were as a program it seemed to me if you were that strong now you wouldn't need me. But maybe when you were recreated as a true digimon, your power was drained. Even though you are now back to being in your final form you still don't have all that power. In a way this is the digital worlds way of testing you. Seeing if you would convert to your old ways. But when you didn't it needed a way to give you your power back but in small amounts so it wouldn't go to your head. As a safety net I must be needed to help keep you from going power hungry so to speak."

Blackwargreymon took a minute to process all this in. After a while he spoke. "I am not sure of that but it does make sense. It would not surprise me that that would be the reason."

Kira shrugged "Like I said I think that may be why, but hopefully this guardian will be able to explain truly why we are needed."

"Indeed."

Kira yawned and stretched. When she did she pulled on her wound. This caused Kira to hiss and flinch from the pain. "Oww almost forgot I was hurt." She said gently rubbing her injured shoulder.

"Better be careful with that. Don't want to reopen that wound."

"No that would cause it to take longer to heal." Kira yawned again but kept still this time. "Well im tired, better get to bed so we can continue."

"You know we don't have to if you don't feel up to it."

Kira looked up at him in shock at the sincerity in his voice. It was almost as if he was pleading her so she could get well. But Kira shook her head. "No I promised after that spa treatment we would continue. No silver monkey will make me break that."

"Very well but we will take our time. I will not have you harmed anymore than you are now. No arguments." He said as he saw Kira about to object.

Kira sighed, "Alright alright we will go easy, but we will continue on." After that she settled down in a patch of grass and got comfortable. "goodnight Blackwargreymon."

"Goodnight Kira."

And like every night Blackwargreymon waited till Kira was fast asleep before removing his armor and gently resting his arm over her. But this time he carefully pulled Kira to his chest. Soon as he felt her soft back against his chest Blackwargreymon closed his eyes and fell straight asleep.

Sorry for the long wait. I had some major writer's block, plus college and work to take up my time. Hopefully my next chapter will be up way sooner than this one did. Again sorry for the long wait. Hope you still enjoy it.
