Chapter 19 Finally seeing the Guardian
"Phew about time." Kira said exhausted. Kira and Blackwargreymon were standing on a hill overlooking a small town. Two days ( due to Kira's injured shoulder) it took for them to arrive at the town where the guardian lived.
The town appeared like any other town, with small buildings that consisted of shops and homes. Twisting paths could be seen looping throughout the town showing walkways between the buildings. The only difference was a path that lead up a large hill with a temple-looking house resting on top of it. The temple resembled a Japanese temple with pointed edges of the roofs and a set of double doors that were made of bamboo that could be seen upon coming to them. All in all it was a small peaceful looking town.
Looking over and giving a small chuckle Blackwargreymon spoke, "Indeed. The temple is where we will find the guardian. We just need to make our way through the town to reach it."
"Well then lets get to it then," Kira said.
Side by side they walked through the small town. Digimon occasionally would look up at them from their work as the pair passed them. Some murmured to themselves and some just shrugged and went back to work. The murmurs were sometimes heard to be in questions like why is a human in the digital world. Some murmurs consisted of what is Blackwargreymon doing here… thought he was dead. Many other things were murmured as the pair went on their way to the temple. Kira noticed the stares and heard some of the murmurs. She began to feel slightly nerved as the murmurs increased as well as the looks. Blackwargreymon noticed this as they walked.
"Pay them no mind Kira. It has been a while since a human has entered our domain. They just don't know what to think."
"Hard to ignore Blackwargreymon. Almost like being back home. Guess that's why it bothers me."
Nodding his head Blackwargreymon replied, "I understand Kira, but it will be ok. You know no one will hurt you while im here."
"Guess your right. Let's just meet this guardian. Sooner we do the sooner I can get away from the murmurs."
Not sure how to respond to that Blackwargreymon just nodded and they continued on their way. About an hour of walking they finally came upon the temple doors at the top of the hill it rested on. Lightly tapping Blackwargreymon knocked on the bamboo doors. Footsteps were herd inside and soon the doors were opened. A frog-like digimon with a tuba around its neck answered the door.
"Can I help you?," it said in a raspy frog-like voice.
"I am Blackwargreymon and this is my partner Kira. We are here to see the guardian. He should be expecting us."
"Ah yes he did say you should be arriving here. Come in."
They entered the temple once the frog stepped aside for them. The frog then led them down a hallway until they reached a large room. The room had a large mat in the middle of the room that resembled a meditation mat. Sat in the middle was a large frog that resembled the smaller one except this one was red in color and had an even larger tuba around his neck. His eyes were closed and his hands were placed lightly on his knees. His breathing was steady and calm. When they approached the edge of his mat he then spoke.
"So you have finally arrived, I was wondering what kept you." he said without opening his eyes.
"We ran into some trouble along the way. We were attacked by MetalEtemon and his Gazimon." Blackwargreymon said calmly.
"So it has begun then." The large frog opened his eyes looked upon them. "I was afraid of this."
"What do you mean?" Blackwargreymon asked.
"There is a new threat to the digital world. It has layed asleep for years, waiting for the time it can conquer the digital world without much trouble. Azulongmon came to me as I have meditated and has shown me this evil. You have only encountered a general of this great evil."
"So who is the great evil then?" Kira spoke up with curiosity.
"His name is Icedevimon. He is a very powerful digimon and has power over ice. That may not seem like a great evil to you, however, his power has only grown since he has been dormant. If he is not stopped the digital world will fall under his icy claw and we shall forever be in cold and ice."
"That is not good for the warmth loving digimon, they could possibly die is the temperatures get too low. This is grave indeed." Blackwargreymon thought out loud.
"So why are we her , if I dare ask?" Kira asked.
"You my dear Kira are new dig destined. The ones before you were much younger. You have been called because only one of your strength can stand against Icedevimon. Blackwargreymon is your partner for many reasons, but the one being the easiest to explain is because of his power." Has he explained who he was before he became a true digimon?"
"Yes, and I figured to test to make sure he stays good I am here to give him his power little by little so he doesn't go power mad, or so I thought."
"Indeed that is the main reason why you are needed by Blackwargreymon. But you and he will learn more about your partnership as you journey through the digital world. But the main point is this: you and he are needed to defeat this great evil Icedevimon and restore balance to the digital world."
"Ok so we must gain Blackwargreymon's power back and then defeat Icedevimon?" Kira asked.
"Yes but first you must fight other digimon to regain that power. Icedevimon has more generals that you must face before you face him." Do not try to take him out before defeating his minions. You will fail if you did this without gaining the proper power first."
"But why am I so important that I am transported from my world to the digital world to help defeat this evil? Is there no one else that is probably better at this than I am? I have been alone so long that im not sure im any good to Blackwargreymon. So far I've been more of a hindrance than help." Kira said looking at her shoulder.
Blackwargreymon was about to say against what Kira has said but the guardian beat him to it. "My dear you are Blackwargreymon's perfect match without realizing it. I am afraid I can not give you those answers however. You must find them on your own. As for being a hindrance, you are far from it. You may have gotten captured and hurt, but you are safe now and Blackwargreymon has gained another level of power because of you. The first time was a given to explain what you must do, the other times Blackwargreymon must be tested in order to gain a level of power. That was his first test, to prove that he will honor the partnership with a human and help them when they are in trouble. He performed this without needing to be told. So he was rewarded with the power to defeat MetalEtemon."
Kira still was not convinced. In her mind she still was thinking she was not worthy of this task. The guardian saw the turmoil in her eyes and layed a hand on her unharmed shoulder. When Kira looked up he spoke. "Do not doubt yourself my dear. You will soon learn your importance in this task."
The guardian took back his hand and spoke to them both. "I am afraid that is all I can tell you. The rest you must learn on your own. So rest in my town tonight and continue your journey in the morning. When you leave head east of here. There you will find the second general that you must defeat. For now rest and relax in the nearby hotel. I have already prepared a reservation for you. Now please leave. I must mediatate some more."
With that Blackwargreymon and Kira exited the temple and left the guardian to his mediatation.
A new evil in the digital world, oh no! Will Kira and Blackwargreymon succeed? And what did the guardian mean about Kira and Blackwargreymon being the perfect match. Find out in the chapters to come. Hopefully :P.
