Chapter 20 Pushing the Past and Peek-a-boos
After resting in the guardian's village for the night, Kira and Blackwargreymon set off east to find the second general. According to the guardian it would take three days to get to where the general was stationed. For the first day of traveling nothing of interest happened. Kira and Blackwargreymon traveled as long as they could, then stopped and made camp for the night. They would have small conversations along the way and at the campsite, mostly involving Blackwargreymon teaching Kira about the digital world. How digimon are born, how they evolve, what kinds there are, and much more. Kira could not believe there was a world like the digital world but was fascinated all the same. Blackwargreymon tried getting Kira to tell of her life where she was from. Kira always said the same thing, "You have heard the basic line of my life, no need to go into details". When Blackwargreymon would try and push but Kira would claim she was tired and go to sleep or completely shut down and not say anything afterwards. Blackwargreymon could tell from Kira's expression that her past was more harmful then what she had originally told him and it would take time for her to open up. He would not give up though; he vowed to keep pushing little by little until Kira would agree to tell him. There was more to Kira's past then she was willing to share and Blackwargreymon wanted to know. Until then he would not give up.
It was there second night on the road and as usual Kira and Blackwargreymon were sitting around a large fire eating some fruit that Blackwargreymon had found. It was quiet, only the sounds of the insect digimon could be heard for some time. Then after they finished their meal, Blackwargreymon again tried getting Kira to open up.
"Kira why won't you tell me of your past?"
"You know the basics, why know more?"
"Because I can see your past is hurting you Kira, you need to allow someone to hear you so you can begin to heal. I understand there haven't been many you trust in your world, but you can trust me. This bond will not go away or betray either of us. But in order for us to become stronger we need to strengthen the bond. Only way to do that is for us to know more about the other, and more than just basics."
Kira stayed quiet after hearing this. All she did was stare into the flames of the fire.
"Kira…"
"Look Blackwargreymon I understand what your trying to tell me, but my past is something I have tried to bury for most of my life. I have tried talking to people about it. There are specialists who are suppose to help with my…. situation but nothing they did has helped. So in the end I have not forgotten my past but simply buried it by meditating or working on my martial arts to keep my mind off it. The sad thing is nothing you can say or do will help and that's why I refuse to tell you anymore. So please stop Blackwargreymon, you are not getting anymore out of me."
Kira stood up and moved to a patch of grass that was soft and laid down to sleep.
After a few moments of Blackwargreymon staring at her back he replied, "No Kira I will not stop trying. I will only push so far each time but I will not give up. Nothing you say will change my mind. So you may either keep up this wall of yours and allow it to crumble little by little or take it down and just tell me. The choice is yours." With that Blackwargreymon turned on his side to signal he was going to sleep.
After a few moments Kira sat up and looked to make sure he was asleep. She then walked back over to the fire and sat down in her meditative stance and closed her eyes. That talk alone was enough to push Kira's memories to the surface where she almost spoke them. This was not expectable. Kira believed Blackwargreymon would not give up, but neither was she. He wall took a lot to build up and it would take more to bring it down. He was right but her past hurt to think about, even after many years. She was not lying when she said she tried to get help. She tried everything that her world offered her, none succeeded in helping her. The only thing that seemed to have any effect was her meditation. Like now she concentrates on the memory that has emerged and, with some time, pushes the memory back down with every fiber of mental capacity she has. She uses a scene of serenity that she focuses on to push the memory back in its place, in the past. After an estimate of two hours, Kira was finally able to push her memory back in the past. She let out a small quiet breathe and moved back to her spot to sleep. Kira was concentrated on pushing her memory back she did not sense the pair of eyes that watched her from a bush nearby. After she laid back down the eyes quietly scurried out of the bush and a dark silhouette raced farther east in the direction of the second general.
Uh-oh what is going to happen this time? Who is the second general? Find out next time on the next episode of The New and Only Digidestined.
