Welcome future readers to my new project. A Code Geass x Pacific Rim crossover story which before you all ask, will focus more on the Pacific Rim aspects then the Code Geass, unlike my other Code Geass crossover. The reason why should be obvious as no-one in their right mind would continue on with their cannon goals when giant monstrous creatures from another dimension are rolling outta the Pacific like thugs leaving the club when the cops show up. This idea had been on my mind for a while now, almost a full year but I never really got to writing it till now, especially since there are like four…five other stories in this crossover category which I think is kinda unfair-mecha anime and giant monsters go well together.

This chapter will serve as the prelude to the real story as well as set the mood of things. As such, it'll be written like a journey entry from Lelouch's POV

I won't say much else but this-if you enjoy this chapter, please review-your thoughts and opinions are appreciated and add this to your favourites.

Chapter 1: Why look up, when trouble comes from below?

Kaiju – Word origin: Japanese. Meaning – Giant Beast

Jaeger – Word origin: German. Meaning – Hunter

When I was young. I would always look forward to the night. I did that because whenever the sky was clear and the stars were bright, my sisters, mother and I would stay up till the late hours in our lovely garden, gazing at them. These moments were precious to me, precious to us all really. Unlike many boys my age-I never really entertained the idea of alien life. Why should I? No-one even had a space program advanced enough to properly scout the surface of Mars.

.

.

.

Turns out that we were all looking in the wrong direction. When alien life was discovered, it wasn't by some distant satellite near the edge of our solar system or some telescope, no. Our soon to be unwelcome guest came from the sea. Deep beneath the Pacific Ocean, between a gap between two tectonic plates. A portal between our world….and theirs.

'The breach.'

And yet, at the time-this wasn't the biggest news for me. The biggest news was the fact that my sister and I….

Were left to die.

Alright, let me start over. Give you some clarity to the ramblings of my personal journey.

My name is….was Lelouch vi Britannia. Eleventh Prince and Seventieth heir to the royal Britannian imperial throne, eldest child and only son of 98th Emperor Charles zi Britannia and 5th Empress Marianne vi Britannia.

There was once a time that I would wear that name with pride but now…it's the name of a complete stranger to me. After the assassination of my mother-may God rest her soul-and the tragic crippling and blinding of my dear younger sister, Nunnally. I believed that fate had done me a bad hand.

Oh how wrong I was. Fate hadn't finished with us, not be a long shot.

After the investigation into the attack on my mother was halted, I foolishly requested a meeting with the Emperor…my father in order to discover why it was closed. I never really know what the relationship between my parents as like with all his other children with his 107 consorts, the man was near non-existent in our lives, only making enough appearances so that we would remember he was our father. But I did know he was ruthless and heartless most of the time. Schneizel and Cornelia warned me of this but that was what I was banking on. Even if he didn't truly love my mother-a man of his standing and power wouldn't possible let this slight against his family and by extension himself and his rule, go unanswered. Right?

Wrong…so very wrong.

By the end of our short 'talk', I leaned five things.

The first - He was as heartless as the stone statues outside in the villa's and gardens.

The second - That he was a fool for not ordering the quick capture and deaths of those responsible for the death of his own consort and injuries to his child.

The third - That I and Nunnally meant nothing to him, and that we were to be shipped off to Japan to be used as tools for his ambitions.

The fourth - That I hated this man more than anything else before and anything that could come my way in the future. In my heart-I held nothing but contempt for him and all he stood for.

And lastly, the fifth - And that I was alone, with not a soul to confide in.

I know what you're thinking, I wasn't alone. I had well over a hundred siblings. Well that was true. I did have over 100 blood siblings to call on.

But of all of them, only 5 were ever real family to me, the rest hated my guts due to the fact my mother wasn't of noble birth. Even then, once we shipped out-it was like we didn't even exist as we never got a single call or letter.

My first impression of Japan…I'll be honest, I hated it here. When we arrived, we were housed in an old shed of all places it always confused me as they were scared my father would use any excuse to go to war with them and yet, they couldn't even be bothered to provide proper quarters. That idiot Suzaku didn't make things any easier as he told Nunnally what the place really was…he was always an odd one as for the first few times we interacted, he tried to solve everything with his fists and when a problem wasn't that simple, he flaked.

Of course, with Nunna around, it was only a matter of time before we settled our differences and become friends….the best of friends really. Life wasn't the best after that but…it was something.

Of course…all good things came to an end.

I will never forget that day. A date that will live on in me for the rest of my days. August 10th 2010. The day that the Holy Britannian empire-my homeland declared war on Japan with a surprise invasion force numbering 145,000 strong. There was no warning, no official declaration, no envoys to collect us…just blood and steel. I got the message, loud and clear.

We were left for dead. We weren't worth the effort to save. Things were looking grim for us. It was clear that there was no way that Japan could win this war, not against a foe with more men and resources. The introduction of Knightmare frames as actually functioning weapons of war was just overkill.

But then….

The first ever Kaiju entered our world through the breach, and the game was flipped on its head. Just two days into the war between Japan and Britannian, the monster that would later be called 'Trespasser' reached the west coast of North America and made landfall at San Francisco settlement.

The city was nearly destroyed, oh who am I kidding? Over 90% of the settlement was destroyed or heavily damaged. After Trespasser was finished with it, there wasn't much a settlement left. By the time that tanks, jets, missiles and knightmares finally killed that beast, four days had passed and it as only 45km shy of Sacramento-three cities had been destroyed. According the news and government announcements, the death toll from this attack was a staggering 310,000 people.

But here in Japan, we saw it differently, as the magnitude of the attack had forced the Britannians to perform a complete withdrawal from Japan so that more resources and people could be put on this new disaster. Because of that incident, many Japanese saw the Kaiju as a Godsend, sent to punish the invaders and I'll be honest, it got a sick sense of satisfaction from it all.

Of course, a few days after they managed to kill that thing, that bastard of a father decided to screw with us again. He sent envoys to collect us from Japan, as if he didn't leave us here to fend for ourselves.

I refused. I looked them straight in the eye and told them I would sooner impale myself with a rusty dagger then willingly go with them. It felt good to do that, to denounce Charles as my father, to remind them as since I had thrown away from claim to the throne, I had also thrown away my last name. Sure I was still a legal Britannian citizen but as far as the law of empire was concerned-I was an orphan.

I would have been scared of what he would do but with the mess he had to deal with, he didn't have the resources to force me to go or to put pressure on the Japanese government as they were as cold as I was with the empire, stating that they will not force me to leave as I am not a criminal therefore they had no obligation to ship myself or my sister off to my father. I have a feeling that old goat Kirihara had something to do with it, besides Suzaku-he's the only one I really get along with.

The very next day, my suspicions were confirmed when Kirihara brought Nunnally and I into his own home and announced that I was under his care. Apparently, it was still considered a member of the royal family as my father never approved of my renouncement of my name and titles. From talking with old Kirihara, he chose to be straight with me and reveal why I was under his care.

He and the Prime Minister wished for Kaguya and myself to wed when we were of age, that way there would be a connection between our two countries that would prevent another war. At first I was pissed, I was pissed because this was a decision taken without my awareness or approval-I was to be used again but after thinking it over, I saw the logic in it. Besides, Kaguya wasn't so bad-sure she was a shameless tease and always worked to get a raise out of me but she was still fun to be around, we got along well and she knew of their arrangement, having overheard her parents discuss it with Genbu the night before I was told, and understood the deal-though it could be because Suzaku insisted she had a crush on me.

I can't believe I didn't notice it sooner.

Though it was a pain that I now had no way of running from exercise as Kirihara had actually competent guards protecting us at all times, which could have been because sentiment against Britannians was at an all-time high in Japan as their short war had left over 75,000 military and civilians dead. So it made sense that we almost could never leave the grounds and whenever we did, it was with an armed escort detail.

It was….hard explaining to Nunnally our situation, why she couldn't play with other kids, why we had to be confide to the house most of the time but I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if she got hurt because she didn't have all the information needed to make the right call. At least my new finance, Kaguya comes around with some of her more trustworthy friends every now and them to keep her company. That is something I'm grateful for.

About a week into this, while I was forced to practice martial arts with Tohdoh, it was announced on the radio that gruff military man always seem to have close by that Japan had entered into a new deal with Russia. It surprised Suzaku somewhat as the EU had not come to their aid when the empire knocked but it was later explained that the deal was with Russia alone, not the EU as a whole. In exchange for cheaper prices of sakuradite, the Russian Empire would send tens of millions of pounds worth of aid to the island nation so that they could rebuild.

As the days turned to weeks and weeks into months, we mourned the death, memorialized the events and tried to move on.

But then, six months later on February 5th 2011. A second Kaiju appeared, this time attacking the Chinese Federation city of Manila. As the federation wasn't as organised, equipped or even as well trained as the imperial forces, it took them a whole week to kill what would later become known as Hundin. The only good thing was that the federation navy kept it from moving to other towns and cities like the first one. The bad news was that the city and surrounding areas were completely destroyed, with a death of 920,000.

At the time, no-one knew it but this attack would be the death-call of the fragile and rather corrupt federation.

This would later become clearer as during the clean-up operation, it become painfully clear that Kaiju blood is extremely toxic as over 60 workers reportedly were accidentally exposed to the stuff and suffered 4rd degree chemical burns before many of them died. It make things worse, a large amount of this dangerous new substance was washed away into the Sulu Sea, effecting the entire region. Killing and poisoning both man and marine life by the thousands.

After that, the environmental disaster spread to the Celebes Sea which closed down local fishing. And in a region where most of the population rely on fishing for their livelihoods and food, it caused no small amount of unrest as the federation didn't have the funds to supply the people with food and other essentials. In panic, they closed off the region to the outside world, at first they gave the flimsy excuse of 'containing the spread of this contaminant to prevent it from reaching into the Pacific Ocean' but when they pulled out of the region and reset their borders to end in Malaysia and enacting marshal law, it soon become clear that they weren't handling this at all.

It didn't help that Japan sent supplies and aid to the now—independent region as the Eunuchs took it as an insult, which…it was, it was my idea after-all. It was just the icing on the cake that Russia followed suite and soon Australia.

Things just kept getting worse from there.

On the 8th of July of that year, the Kaiju codenamed 'Tiger' attacked the Britannian oversea area of the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji. As it was a so far away from the previous attack sites, the empire was slow to react-forcing the naval presence in the area to do most of the work. By the time its corpse fell, 210,000 more people were dead, missing or wounded. Bring the death toll from these attacks up to a total of around 1.44 Million. The event led to massive unrest over the fact that it took five days to kill it and during that time, there weren't enough shelters for everyone, many of which were reserved for full Britannians while number were left to fend for themselves. Riots and minor acts of rebellion followed soon after.

The end of the Federation came on September 2nd later that year, when the Kaiju codenamed 'Fright' due to its extremely scary appearance relative to the previous three-attacked the Chinese island of Taiwan, due to incompetent commanders, messy chain of command and foolish, clearly reactive orders from the eunuchs just made things worse. After a bloody nine day campaign to kill the thing, the city of Taipei was nearly destroyed and the beast was able to make it to mainland China, where he destroyed smaller towns and villages. The fact that it was only stopped 95km short of Hong Kong resulting in mass panic and revolts. By the end, estimates put the death toll at a staggering 1.25 million people. Within days, the people rose up and the eunuchs are ousted and executed.

Later that month, on the 13th. All the nations making up the Federation left the broke away from China in the confusion caused by the heads of government being removed. Many of which would go on to form their own, smaller unions with each other. The next day, the Empress of Russia-Alexandria III declared that Russia would leave the EU, which shocked the world.

The very next day, Prime Minister Kururugi announced that the governments of Russia, Korea, Mongolia and Japan would be entering their own union as they build up defences in case of a Kaiju attack. He also announced that Japan will maintain a presence in Malaysia and the Philippines to help things along.

It seems things got better as the very next year, on the 27th of January, the Royal Navy announced that it had spotted and was tracking another Kaiju expected to make landfall near San Diego. In response, me sperm donor of a father ordered the evacuation of the entire region. The only problem was how it was conducted, as numbers were once more left in the dirt and the nobles immediately took the best spots or bought more supplies than they needed, leading to shortages.

Turns out that big lizard was able to escape the Navy as they lost it at sea, a couple days later-it made landfall….at Cabo San Lucas. As there was next to no warning, the entire town as destroyed as the army was forced to shell the damn thing with every missile and shell they had, regardless of collateral damage. Over 40,000 were killed and the town abandoned due the effects of the Kaiju blue on the surrounding area.

To meet and placate the calls against his leadership, Charlie called for a conference between the world powers to discuss this threat. A week later, in the 2nd of February, leaders from across the globe met in Quito to plan the next step. Oddly enough it was my mother's old ally, Rueben who presented the idea of using specially built and designed knightmares to fight this new threat. But what would set them apart from other knightmares would be their sheer size as one would be worth like 150 others in terms of weight.

The very next day, the idea was approved and plans were drawn up for this new weapons program codenamed 'Project Jaeger'. To help make a system of command more fluid, rather than have each country have their own systems and jaegers, it was decided to establish the Pan Pacific Defence Corp(PPDC) as to effectively coordinate ourselves and prevent on nation from gaining too much power. Soon afterwards, construction of factories and testing sites for the PPDC begun to spring up all over the place but mostly in Britannia, Japan, Australia, Germany and Russia.

Oh, and after almost two years living with him-Kirihara officially adopted me, so these days my name is Kirihara Lelouch as Nunnally didn't respond kindly to my desire to change my first name as well. She is still Nunnally vi Britannia but things are so messy right now no-one has time to nick-pick.

It made the news months later when the first prototype jaeger, was completed. It also made the news when the knight of two, Michele Manfredi who volunteered to be the test pilot was unable to properly move the damn thing and crashed it. Turns out using regular knightmare style controls simply wouldn't work as all that added height and mass makes it incompatible. It was soon suggested by a member of the European R&D team suggested a theory they had been working on involving creating a neutral connection between the pilot and jaeger. Soon afterwards, the nearly developed but untested Brain Raid System(BRS) was installed into the EU prototype.

It proved to be even worse as the experimental tech made it very dangerous for the pilot to use as the EU test pilot suffered a near fatal seizure, last I heard they were in a coma. To fix the idea, India and Britannia both sent their best to aid them as the EU had the best solution for piloting the damn things. Within months, they redesigned the OS and introduced a state of the art A.I. to aid the pilots. They also suggested have two or more people pilot them as it divides the work load.

Six months later, this proved to be a success as with this new tech added to their own model-Australia was the first to produce a fully functional jaeger codenamed Outbacker. The two pilots, Philips Watson and Gregor York of the Australian Air-Force become the first two jaeger pilots to successfully enter what we in the PPDC call the 'drift'. It was also noted that the deeper the bond between the pilots, the higher the sync rate and overall combat effectiveness.

Soon after, Britannia launched their first jaeger-Brawler Yukon. The PPDC also begun looking for recruits in the thousands as they need more than just pilots. And since there was no age limit of this, I sent in an application for the newly formed PPDC Jaeger pilot training program at the local branch in Kyoto. Lord Kirihara was not pleased but he gave his consent. Soon afterwards, I heard from Suzaku that Tohdoh and three of his swords had been selected by the ministry of defence to join up as well. Suzaku wanted to join with me but his father forbade it.

A month went by but on the 28th of September 2012, and l was chosen alongside 79 others. Turns out I was the youngest, that combine with be being a Britannian of all things, didn't make me popular with the rest who avoided me like the plague on good day or just glared at me.

During the time it took for me to complete my training, I proved myself again and again. Spent late nights studying, breaks in the gym or simulation room and paying avid attention to whenever news reported of a Kaiju being taken down by a jaeger. During this time, several new shatterdomes were built and commissioned across the Pacific. On such event was the battle between the Kaiju Onibaba and Jaeger Coyote Tango in Tokyo. The city was damaged but the beast was fallen in under 20 minutes. One of the pilots, Stacker Pentecost would go on to become one of the most decorated officers of the PPDC, despite the fact he is European.

A couple days later, Suzaku send me a letter telling me how he finally wore down his old man and got permission to send in an application. Around two months later, I alongside a small group of 19 others completed the jaeger piloting program course. It was pleasing for me as I scored the top of my class, despite being the youngest one. My happy mood was ruined when I noticed people in the audience seated next to Nunnally.

I should have seen it coming, that Nunnally would invite some of our siblings. Though at least I didn't have to spend a lot of time with, no matter how clingy Euphemia could be. It was on the other hand, entertaining when Kaguya introduced herself as my bride to be, sometimes that girl can read me like a book as I have a feeling she only did so to screw with them and give the two of us an excuse to leave the group.

Almost a full year has gone back since we graduated and we have yet to be assigned to jaegers. Turns out they have a surplus of pilots against machines. I and my partner, a young man of 19 are to be assigned a machine soon from what I've heard. Still, it leaves me more time to be around Nunnally and Kaguya…that girl, who has grown on me. I do hope we get closer with time as although I can say I don't love her and she got over her crush for me, we still care for one another…maybe with time that will turn into love but for now….

Well things have gone bad for me. I received orders to transfer to the Kagoshima Shatterdome but rather than use the official transport, my partner chose to take public transport so that he could stay behind longer to be with relatives. It wasn't a bad choice as when you have loved ones, you should cherish them. It's bad because the bus he took crashed on the way over, of the 11 people killed-he was one of them. Leaving me without a clear teammate.

Looks like the brass want to see my jaeger used no matter what as my new partner just arrived today. A young girl by the name of Viktoriya Serebryakov. A Russian who like myself, displayed remarkable skills despite her age, though I'm the younger by around two years. We'll see how things go them. Hopefully things stay quiet till we've had enough time to really practice together.

And that's that. The prelude to the main story, I'll try to get the real chapter one out soon so please be patient. And before you all ask, yes the jaegers from the movie will make appearances along with their pilots. The knightmares used by aces from Code geass will also appear but they of course will be different to their original forms as they are now being built on much larger scale for the purpose of fighting giant monsters. If you have suggestions, please PM me or leave a review.
