"Wow, that went over a lot better than I expected." Louise said in a surprised tone as she stared at Harley, caught off guard by her willingness to accept a three-way relationship. "I thought for sure you'd push back at least a little bit."
"Nah, I like you Frosty and I wouldn't want us fightin' over a guy, especially if ya do really love him!" Harley said with a massive smile, reaching out and grabbing one of Louise's hands. "Besides, traditional relationships are borin' anyway! This will make things a whole lot spicier! Oh, I can pretend that B-man is sneakin' off with me to have a secret affair! That just sounds so naughty, I love it!"
"Things really aren't going to be boring with you around, that's for damn sure." Louise said with a chuckle as she patted Harley on the shoulder, before hopping off the bed. "Come on, we should go tell tall, dark, and mysterious the good news."
"Oh! Oh! OH!" Harley exclaimed, practically launching off the bed as she dashed in front of Killer Frost, energetically raising her hand into the air. "Can I be the one tell him!? Please, Frosty! Let me tell him!"
"Okay. Okay. You can-" Louise was cut off when the door to her old bedroom suddenly opened and Batman entered the room. A smile spread across Louise's face as she watched the Dark Knight approach them. "Well, speak of the devil, you have impeccable timing. We were just about to go look for you. I...I mean Harley...has something important to tell you."
"Whatever it is, it can wait." Batman said in a serious tone which surprised both women, causing them to glance at each other. "Barbra and I intercepted a message from Penguin to one of his usual buyers, and they've set up a huge arms deal. It's happening underneath the Iceberg Lounge in one hour. Penguin himself will be overseeing the deal, so we need to move now if we want to catch him and learn what he's planning."
"On it." Frost said, rushing out of the room without any hesitation. "I'll go gear up!"
"You get ready too, Harley." Batman said as he turned to leave, not noticing the flash of disappointment on the blonde harlequin's face. "This mission will truly test everything you've learned, so be prepared to be pushed to your limits." Pausing in the doorway, Batman glanced back at Harley. "But I believe that you're ready, and the rest of the team will be backing you up. Meet us all by the Batmobile in ten minutes!"
"Aye, sir!" Harley said with a bright smile, feeling a swell of pride and confidence as she gave a quick salute. Dashing out of the room, Harley rushed back to her own bedroom to get geared up. "It sucks that I couldn't tell him, but I'll let Bats know how I feel later."
"Hey, Harley!" The blonde harlequin was stopped in her tracks when she heard a familiar voice call out to her. Turning her head, Harley spotted Pamela waving to her from behind the locked door to her room. "What the hell is going on out there? I've seen Batman and his crew rushing around for the past five minutes."
"I can't really talk, Red. We just got a hot tip and are headin' to take down Penguin." Harley explained as she jogged over to Poison Ivy's door. "I'll tell ya all about it when I get back. Hell, I'll even look for a souvenir to grab ya!"
"Hold on, before you run off!" Pamela called out, stopping Harley before she could resume sprinting back to her room. "So, how did things go with Batman? Did you tell him how you feel?"
"No, somethin' more important came up before I could. Bein' a hero comes first, ya know." Harley said with a smile as she blew Pamela a kiss, before turning around and running down the hall. "Seriously, I gotta jet, Red! Talk to ya tonight!"
"Huh, I never thought I'd see the day..." Pamela said with a light chuckle, walking over and plopping down onto her bed. "Looks like Harley is finally starting to grow up. Maybe working for these stiffs was good for her after all."
"Okay...time to get ready...this is the big one." Harley muttered to herself as she dashed into her room and quickly changed into her crime-fighting costume. After clipping on her belt, Harley walked over to her dresser and opened one of the drawers, revealing all of her gadgets and weapons. "What should I bring? I don't have a seemingly limitless toolbelt like B-man, so I can't carry everything."
"Wow, I must say, I'm shocked Harley. You focused on your hero duties instead of your own desires. You've really changed for the better ever since you started working with Batman."
"What can I say, I'd hate to disappoint Bats...sides, I can always talk to him after we nab Penguin." Harley said, reaching into her drawer full of goodies and pulling out her revolver. Flicking the chamber open, Harley smirked when she saw that was already loaded with rubber bullets. After closing the chamber, Harley quickly spun it and put the revolver in her holster. She also grabbed her baseball bat and slung it onto her back. "That takes care of weapons...now what other toys should I bring?"
Gazing back into the drawer, Harley surveyed her array of different gadgets. Smoke Pellets? Penguin's goons loved their guns, so she'd definitely need those. Grabbing a handful, Harley slipped them into her utility belt. Grappling hook? That one goes with saying. Zipline launcher? Seemed a little situational, especially since they were going to be infiltrating Penguin's lair, maybe next time. Remote hacking device? Yeah, that'd probably be useful. Explosive gel? Hell yes! Making things go boom was always a good option!
"Do you have everything you'll need? They're probably waiting for us."
"Yeah...yeah...I think so. But..." Harley hummed as she stared intently into the drawer, her eyes narrowing slightly. "I can't help but feel like I'm missin' somethin'..." It was then that Harley realized there was one crucial piece of kit she was missing. Dashing over to her wardrobe, the blonde harlequin smirked when she spotted her goggles. "I knew I was forgettin' somethin'! There's no way I could forget these little cheat codes!"
After strapping her goggles on top of her head, Harley dashed out of her room toward the main section of the Batcave. Skidding around a corner, Harley smiled brightly when she spotted the rest of her team gathered around their vehicles, ready to go at any time. Frost and Robin were leaning against their motorcycles, energetically discussing something. Batman and Nightwing were standing next to the Batmobile, seeming to be going over various strategies for taking out Penguin. Alfred stood off to the side with Barbra, who was vigorously typing away on her laptop.
"Good, you're here, Harley." Batman said, pressing a button on his wrist computer which caused the Batmobile's top to slide open. "You'll be riding with Nightwing and me."
"I call shotgun!" Harley cheered with a laugh as she rushed forward and leaped into the passenger seat. Reaching back, Harley quickly fastened her seatbelt. "Hey, I gotta ask...when will I get my own fancy-schmancy vehicle? Birdboy and Frosty have their badass bikes. And Batnight even has a high-tech car AND a bike of his own. I'm feelin' kinda left out here."
"Heh, with the way you drive, that's never gonna happen." Nightwing teased, climbing into the back seat behind Harley. "I was there during your advanced driving test, remember? You're an actual menace behind the wheel."
"Hey! I wasn't that...I mean..." Harley began to complain but started to give up when she noticed the look Nightwing was giving her. Letting out an annoyed huff, Harley sunk deeper into her seat and crossed her arm, pouting like a little kid. "Give me a break, I wasn't THAT bad..."
"Harley, you were THAT bad...you hit seven civilian dummies and caused a simulated $87,000 in damages..." Batman said, before hopping into the driver's seat. With the push of a button, the Batmobile's top closed and the engine roared to life. "But you'll keep practicing and practicing, and you'll keep improving, then eventually, when you're ready, I'll provide you with your own vehicle. That's a promise."
"Tch, fine..." Harley muttered as a small smile spread across her face, imagining the type of vehicle she'd get. "Should I go with a bike like Frosty? Or may a car like Bats? No, wait! I totally want a freakin' helicopter! That would be so badass!"
"The day you get a helicopter is the day pigs fly."
"Hey, a girl can dream..." Harley thought, gazing out the window as the Batmobile raced out of the Batcave and launched out onto the streets of Gotham. "But that can wait, first we need to stop that creepy ass Penguin."
(Twenty Minutes Later: Outside the Iceberg Lounge)
"Alright, here's the plan..." Batman said as he pressed a few buttons on his wrist computer, throwing up a holographic blueprint of the Iceberg Lounge. "Oracle is back in the Batcave providing surveillance and comms."
"I just finished tapping into Penguin's security system, so I should be able to shut down pretty much any defensive measures he has set up. I've also peeked through his cameras and...let's just say there are a lot of guys in there...and a lot of guns."
"Thank you, Oracle, we can handle it." Batman said, before making a waving gesture with his fingers to spin the blueprint around and zooming in on the building's entrance. "Robin and Nightwing, you two will be running interference. I'll need you both to intercept and stop any reinforcements Penguin or his buyer sends. There are enough gunmen in there already, we don't need anymore."
"Got it." Robin and Nightwing said simultaneously as they nodded their heads. Standing up, Robin and Nightwing hopped onto Tim's bike and peeled off.
"Good. Next, Frost will attack the main entrance and try to pull away as of Penguin and his buyer's men as possible." Batman continued, rotating the holographic blueprint and highlighting the front entrance. After pressing a few buttons, the Dark Knight brought up the security footage Oracle had tapped into, showing several armed gunmen near the building's front door. "That will make it quicker for us to infiltrate the building and make our path to Penguin easier."
"I mean, I get your plan Bats...it makes sense logically, but..." Harley said as she shot a worried glance over at Louise. "Will Frosty really be okay on her own? That's a lot of bad guys...and a lot of guns."
"Trust me, Harley, I'll be fine." Frost said with a grin, holding up her hand as ice crystals sparkled in her palm. "I can handle some bumbling goons with guns, I've done it a hundred times before."
"I wouldn't be sending Louise out on her own if I didn't think she could handle it." Batman added as he flicked his wrist, spinning the holographic blueprint around once again. This time, a side entrance to the Iceberg Lounge was highlighted. "I'll enter through this side door here. The weapons deal is happening in Penguin's secret hideout underneath the building. This side entrance is the fastest route to a hidden cargo elevator in his office that leads to this hidden lair. It's the only way in and out of there."
"Where am I enterin' from, B-man?" Harley asked, leaning in closer to examine the building's layout better. "Want me to head in from the roof or somethin'?"
"You'll be going in through the back loading bay, Harley. But you'll also have an important job." Batman said as he spun the schematic once again, zooming in on a room close to the rear of the building. "This is the maintenance room. I need you to get in there and shut down the power to the building. That will basically trap Penguin and his buyer, along with their guards, down there. It will also allow us to get the drop on them."
"Got it, Bats!" Harley cheered with a smirk, giving an enthusiastic thumbs up. "I'll sneak in through this loadin' bay, head to this maintenance room, knock out the power, then meet up with you, takin' any bad guys out along the way!"
"Good, if everyone understands their roles, then this operation is underway." Batman said as he pulled out his grappling hook, aiming it toward the Iceberg Lounge. Before he fired, the Dark Knight paused for a moment and glanced back at Harley and Frost. "Good luck...and stay safe."
With those final words, Batman fired off his hook and latched onto a light fixture on the side of the building as he zipped away. Once the Dark Knight was gone, Frost released a light sigh, before cracking her knuckles and rolling her neck. The air around Killer Frost began to chill as she slowly began to walk toward the Iceberg Lounge's front entrance.
"Alright..." Frost muttered, grabbing the handles to the front doors, her mere touch causing them to start freezing over. "It's time to get to work."
"Well, I can't just stand around doin' nothin'..." Harley said as she adjusted her goggles and began to make her way around the Iceberg Lounge, toward the back loading bay. Reaching a corner, Harley poked her head around it and spotted two guards having a smoke break. With a devious smirk, Harley grabbed her bat and pressed the at the top of the handle. Her smirk widened as she watched her battle whirl to life and crackle with electricity. "Oh yeah, I'm really startin' to like this job."
(Five Minutes Later: Inside the Iceberg Lounge)
"Phew, that was more guys than I was expectin'..." Harley muttered to herself, letting a long exhale as she wiped some sweat off her brow. After closing the shutter door that lead into the loading bay, Harley noticed that she was now in a large storage area, that was packed with dozens of metal shelves that went up to the ceiling and what seemed to be hundreds of boxes filled with who knows what. "Alright, if I remember correctly, the maintenance room should be on the other side of this big ass room."
"Have we heard from the boys out back yet?"
"I've tried radioing them, but they're on a smoke break, so they might be ignoring me."
"I'll go check on them. Smoke break or not, those assholes should be checking in when we call."
"Shit..." Harley hissed as she quickly darted behind a large box, narrowly avoiding being seen by one of Penguin's guards. Pulling down her goggles, Harley was again momentarily disorientated when detective mode activated and she was bombarded with a flurry of information. After a moment, she regained her composure and scanned the area around her. Peering directly through the crate in front of her, Harley quickly spotted that there were three guards that had just entered the room with her, one of them walking straight toward her. "Alright, let's make quick work of these assholes."
Harley held her breath as the guard approached the crate she was behind, his footsteps growing louder and louder the close he got. Then, just as the guard was about to pass, Harley lunged out and grabbed him. The blonde harlequin quickly clamped a hand over the guard's mouth, preventing him from calling for help. Harley then tightly wrapped her arm around the guard's throat, cutting off his air supply. As the guard began to violently kick and thrash around, Harley's grip only tightened further.
"C'mon sweetheart, take a nice nap for me..." Harley grunted, the muscles in her arm flexing as she used all her strength to keep the guard from breaking free. All while this was happening, Harley was closely monitoring the guard's heart rate which had spiked dramatically when she first grabbed him. But after a few more moments, and one last squeeze, Harley noticed his heart rate start to lower as his struggles began to gradually grow weaker. Soon enough, the guard went completely limp and Harley saw that he was unconscious. Letting out a sigh of relief, Harley stashed the thug's unconscious body behind the rate. "That's one down, two more to go."
"Hey, I haven't heard the back door open yet."
"So?"
"He should have gotten back there by now, don't you think?"
"What? Do you think he had a fucking heart attack or something?"
"I don't know man, but that shutter door back there is loud as hell. We should have heard it open by now."
"He's probably on his phone. He was texting his brother earlier."
"You're on your phone right now, jackass! Go check on him!"
"Why the hell should I do it!? You go!"
"If you don't go, I'll tell the boss you were scrolling through fucking Twitter instead of doing your damn job!"
"Tch, you're such a fucking prick sometimes man. Alright! I'll go check on the whittle baby! Want me to escort him to the bathroom, maybe wipe his ass too!?"
"Quit your bitching and get going."
"Those two are quite the characters."
"They should just get a room already..." Harley thought as she silently climbed up the metal shelves, carefully moving into position above the second guard as he went to search the area she was just in. Just as the second guard was nearing the crate she had previously been hiding behind, Harley leaped into action. With a loud thud, Harley landed on the thug, instantly pinning him to the ground. Harley couldn't help but wince at how loud her supposed stealthy attack had been. Before the guard could properly react, Harley cocked her arm back and hit him in the face with a devastating punch and knocked him out cold. "Damn it, that was way louder than I wanted. I hope that other-"
"Hey! What the hell is going on over there?! Did you knock something over you, damn klutz!?"
"Shit..." Harley hissed through her teeth as she turned her attention toward the final thug, spotting him through several shelves. The blonde harlequin noticed the thug grab his gun and start to make his way toward her. "No point sneakin' around anymore. I just need to take this guy out then I'm in the clear."
"Damn it! Answer me ya prick! You're starting to freak me out!"
"Sorry honey, but your friends are takin' a little nap!" Harley cheered with a wicked smile, suddenly springing out in front of the thug which caused him to yelp in surprise. Pulling out her revolver, Harley pressed it directly against the thug's forehead. With a pull of the trigger, a thundering bang from Harley's revolver echoed through the storage bay. The thug immediately collapsed to the ground after he was hit by a rubber bullet. Snickering to herself, Harley crouched next to the unconscious thug, prodding the large red mark on his forehead with the end of her revolver. "Okay, that takes care of these pricks."
Standing back up, Harley released a light sigh and holstered her revolver. Scanning around the storage bay, her eyes widened slightly when she spotted the maintenance room. Waltzing across the room, Harley used her goggles to peer into the next area. Seeing that the maintenance room appeared to be empty, Harley opened the door and walked inside. Harley was briefly caught off guard by the surge of information that appeared before her eyes as her goggles' detective mode scanned the array of machines and electronics within the room. Recomposing herself, the blonde harlequin followed what appeared to be a line of power flowing out of a particular panel attached to the wall. When Harley pulled up her goggles and opened the panel, she was taken aback by what she saw.
"What the fuck is all this shit?" Harley muttered as she stared slack-jawed at the vast array of wires, dials, buttons, and flashing lights tucked away within the panel. Reaching out hesitantly, Harley was about to press a particularly alluring bright-red button but stopped herself less than an inch away. "GAH! I don't know what the fuck I'm doin' here! There are like 45 goddamn buttons and switches! Wires goin' fuckin' every which way! How is anyone supposed to understand this shitshow!?"
"Why don't you just contact Oracle? Or Batman even? I'm sure they'd be able to help you."
"Nah, I need to figure this out on my own. I can't rely on Bats and the others to solve every little problem I run into." Harley said sternly, her eyes narrowing slightly as she stroked her chin and gazed intently at the panel box. After several moments, she growled in frustration and took a few steps back. Pulling out her bat, Harley made it spark to life and crackle with electricity. "Bats said that I just need to knock the power out. This should do the trick."
With an exaggerated windup, Harley slammed her electrified bat into the control panel almost a dozen times. The blonde harlequin grinned and cackled maniacally as sparks exploded out of the panel, raining down on her. Giving one last, mighty swing, Harley smashed the panel completely off the wall. With a satisfied grin, Harley watched as the lights in the room began to flicker, before shutting off completely. Harley's electrified bat was the only thing illuminating the room before she disabled it and placed it on her back.
"I guess that worked...but good lord, can you do anything subtly?"
"That's not really my style. I can handle a bit of stealth, but that's about it." Harley said with a chuckle as she pulled down her goggles once again, now able to see in the practically pitch-black room. Pressing a hand to her ear, Harley activated her communicator. "Bats, I just took out the power. The lights out down there for you?"
"Yes, the power went out a few moments ago. Penguin and his buyer are scrambling now, trying to figure out what happened. Get down here fast Harley, we need to strike fast while they're still disoriented. There are at least twenty gunmen"
"On my way!" Harley exclaimed, dashing out of the maintenance room and back into the storage bay. Stopping at the doors that lead into the Iceberg Lounge's main area, Harley paused for a moment and scanned the room ahead for any additional guards. Spotting no immediate threats, the blonde harlequin opened the doors and entered the main lounge. With the lights out, Harley was easily able to quickly and quietly make her way toward Penguin's office. Along the way, she needed to step around over a dozen unconscious thugs, all of them likely standing in the Dark Knight's path. "How are you doing, Frosty?"
"Can't really talk now, Harley!" The blonde harlequin winced slightly when she heard bullets whizzing by in her earpiece. "Just get Penguin so we can get the fuck out of here!"
"You got it, Frosty! Stay safe out there!" Harley cheered as she jogged up the stairs leading to Penguin's office, nearly tripping over a thug that was lying knocked out at the top step. Seeing that the office appeared to be clear, Harley stepped inside and spotted that the cargo elevator Batman had mentioned was wide open. Gazing down the lengthy elevator shaft, Harley let out a low whistle. Knowing that time was of the essence, Harley quickly attached her grappling hook to the top of the elevator shaft and made her way down. Stopping on top of the cargo elevator, Harley detached her hook and opened the hatch on top of it, before dropping inside. "Alright, I'm in. Time to meet up with Bats."
Stepping out of the elevator, Harley spotted a large set of thick, steel doors that were blocking her path forward. Using her goggles to peer through the barrier, Harley counted over twenty people in the room ahead of her, almost all of them carrying guns. Giving the room one final examination, Harley smirked when she spotted a lone figure perched on what appeared to be a steel beam above all of the criminals. Noticing an open vent near the top of the wall next to her, Harley quickly grappled inside and began to crawl her way through. After a few turns, the blonde harlequin found herself perched on the beam next to her mentor.
"Hey, B-man..." Harley whispered, stopping next to the Dark Knight and scanning around the room below them. "How are things looking in here?"
"There are twenty-two gunmen in this room, including Penguin and his buyer. Oracle is still trying to identify the buyer, but they appear to be new in Gotham, probably just starting out and trying to build up their firepower." Batman explained as his eye narrowed slightly, watching as Penguin anxiously paced back and forth, clearly agitated that his deal had been interrupted. "This room is too small and the gunmen are too close together, so stealth isn't an option. It's going to be dangerous, but we're going to have to hit them hard and fast. Take them all out before they can regroup and retaliate. Did you bring your smoke pellets?"
"Heh heh, I brought extra." Harley replied with a gleaming smile, reaching into her utility belt and pulling out ten smoke bombs. "I figured we might need'em."
"Good, here's the plan." Batman said as he gestured toward a large cluster of ten thugs. "I have ten smoke pellets as well. So, we'll both throw out five and take out that first group of gunmen. Then, once the smoke begins to dissipate, we'll toss out the rest of the pellets and eliminate the rest. Once all the gunmen are taken care of, we'll grab Penguin and his buyer."
"Sounds good to me." Harley said, adjusting her position on the beam. Taking a deep breath, Harley cocked her arm back, ready to throw her first series of smoke pellets. "Ready when you are, Bats."
"..." The Dark Knight said nothing for several moments as he examined Harley, noticing how much she had changed in the time she had been on his team. "You look ready."
Harley slapped a hand over her mouth to stop herself from squealing in delight over Batman's sudden compliment. After the blonde harlequin regained her composure, she followed Batman's lead and sprang into action. Both Batman and Harley tossed out a handful of smoke pellets, all of which smashed into the ground and belched out thick clouds of smoke. All of the gunmen were completely off guard, some of them even firing random bursts into the air.
"Oi! What the hell is going on?!" Penguin screamed in a panicked tone, watching his men yell and scramble around. "Would you idiots calm down! And stop cooking off rounds! You're gonna clip one of our own guys!" However, Penguin yelped in fear when he spotted a shadowy blur dash through the smoke in front of him, followed by one of his mean yelling out in pain. This repeated several times as Penguin and his buyer's men were taken out one by one. Seeing something spark with electricity a few away, Penguin quickly backed away and ended up tripping over his own feet. Stumbling to the ground, Penguin began to scurry away on the ground. "Can you idiots hear me!? What do I pay you for!? Protect me, I'm your damn boss!"
When the smoke eventually began to dissipate, Penguin yelped in fear when he spotted Batman. But what shocked him even more, was seeing Harley Quinn, now decked out in a brand new, bat-themed costume, apparently working with the Dark Knight. Surrounding the duo were a dozen gunmen, all of them lying on the ground unconscious. The few remaining thugs simply stared at Batman and Harley in pure shock. Glancing down beside him, Penguin flinched when he saw his buyer knocked out on the ground as well.
"S-Shoot them you fucking idiots!" Penguin yelled as he wildly gestured toward the Dark Knight and his partner. Almost immediately, the room was filled with smoke again as Batman and Harley threw out their remaining smoke pellets. Hearing a flurry of screams and gunfire, Penguin used the commotion to try and crawl out of the room. When one of his gunmen was slammed into the wall right next to him, Penguin yelped in fear and scrambled back onto his feet. Penguin broke out in cold sweat when he heard a maniacal cackle from Harley echo out as he dashed into a weapons locker. "T-Those bastards ain't getting me! I'm not going back to prison! No way! And what the hell was Harley doing with the Bat!?"
Hurrying to the bag of the weapons locker, passing racks stocked with hundreds of guns, Penguin pressed his hand against a specific spot on the wall and revealed a hidden keypad. Punching in the code, the wall slid open and unveiled a secret panic room. Scurrying inside, Penguin quickly shut the wall behind him and sealed the door. Taking a few rapid breaths, Penguin plopped down on a small sofa, listening to the fight still going on outside. After another had passed, the sounds outside the panic room stopped, no screams, no gunfire, no impacts of someone getting punched, nothing.
"That's all of 'em..." Harley breathed out, releasing a light sigh as she wiped some sweat off her brow. "Wasn't as bad as I was expectin'."
"Untrained thugs like these aren't much of a threat, they're only dangerous when in large groups." Batman explained as he crouched down next to Penguin's buyer, scanning the man's face. After a few moments, Batman grunted when no information on him appeared. "He's definitely new in town, there's no information on him in the Gotham criminal database. I'll have Oracle look into him later, right now we need to focus on capturing Penguin."
"Well, the little bastard couldn't have gotten very far." Harley said, slowly walking around the room and prodding some of the knocked-out thugs with her bat, making sure they were out cold. Poking her head into the next room, Harley let out a low whistle when stumbled onto Penguin's weapon stash. "We got a metric shit load of guns in her B-man! Penguin was prepping for something big."
"That's exactly why we need to find out what he has planned." Batman said as he strolled into the weapon's locker, his cape gently flowing behind him. "With this amount of guns, Penguin could start a war in Gotham."
"I don't like the sound of that..." Harley muttered, carefully examining every inch of the room she could. Stopping at the back of the room, Harley's eyes narrowed slightly when she spotted what seemed to be a slight indent in the wall. Pulling her goggles back down, Harley smirked when she spotted someone in a hidden room behind the wall, their heartbeat racing. "Hey Bats, I think I got the bastard. There's a hidden room or something behind this wall."
"A panic room, I'm not surprised Penguin has one." Batman said as stood next to Harley, his own detective mode activated. Pressing his hand along the wall, the Dark Knight wasn't surprised when a portion of the wall sank in, before revealing a hidden keypad. "We don't have time to try and figure out what the code is." Giving the wall a quick once over, the Dark Knight noticed a few possible weak points. "If we place explosives here...here...and here, we can blow clean through this wall." Pulling out his explosive gel, the Dark Knight grimaced when he noticed that the canister was empty. "Damn it, I forgot to refill my explosive gel before we left."
"Don't worry, B-man..." Harley said with a smirk, holding up her own canister of explosive gel. "I brought my own. So keep back, I put this stuff down." Stepping forward, Harley began to apply the gel to the spots the Dark Knight had pointed out. After a few moments, Harley finished spraying the gel and stepped back. Her devious smirk widening, Harley held up the gel's detonator. "Get ready Bats, this gonna be a big fuckin' boom."
"What the hell's goin' on out there? I can't hear anything." Penguin muttered as hesistantly got off the couch and made his way over to the wall. However, before Penguin could press his ear against the hidden door, he was blown back when the wall suddenly exploded open. The force of the blast sent Penguin flying backward and crashing into the panic room's back wall. Dazed and confused, Penguin groaned as his vision blurred slightly, watching as two figures stepped through the smoke into the panic room. "W-Wha...what...the fuck...you idiots...could have killed me..."
"Oh, now wouldn't that have been a cryin' shame, one less scumbag runnin' around in this city." Harley taunted, crouching down next to Penguin and playfully smacked his cheek. Feeling the Dark Knight's gaze on the back of her head, Harley released a light sigh and stood back up. "I know, I know, we don't kill...ever. No need to get your cape in a twist, I was just messin' with short, pale, and ugly here."
"You're coming with us." Batman said as he slapped some restraints on Penguin's wrists and hauled the criminal onto his feet. "We've got some questions to ask you."
"A-Aren't you going to turn me into the police?" Penguin asked, before being shoved out of the panic room by the Dark Knight. Stumbling forward, Penguin felt a chill run down his spine when he saw Batman and Harley staring at him. Seeing both Batman's terrifying glare and Harley's devious smirk nearly caused Penguin to piss his pants. "I-I'd feel much safer with the cops! Please h-hand me over to them!"
"Don't be scared, buddy!" Harley said with a chuckle as she roughly slapped Penguin's back, causing him to grunt in pain. "We're goin' someplace fun! You tell us what we need to know and nothin' bad will happen to ya!"
(One Hour Later: Back at the Batcave)
GRAAAAAAH! Y-You f-fucking b-bitch!" Penguin screamed in pain, feeling agonizing amounts of electricity flow through his body as Harley pressed her bat against his chest. Annoyed by Penguin's remark, Harley pressed her electrified bat harder against his chest. Digging his fingers into his chair's armrest, Penguin knew he couldn't stand this pain much longer. "ALRIGHT! ALRIGHT! I'LL TALK!" With a satisfied smirk, Harley stepped back and deactivated her bat. "I-I'll talk...just for the love of god...stop fucking zapping me."
"Good choice..." Harley said as she tapped her bat against Penguin's finger, causing him to recoil slightly. "Because if my little shock persuasion didn't work, I was gonna hafta start using some more...drastic...measures to make ya talk." Leaning closer, Harley whispered into Penguin's ear. "And Bats taught me to start with the fingers."
"That's enough, Harley." Batman said, emerging from the shadows and approaching Penguin. Pouting slightly, Harley blew Penguin a kiss and skipped behind the Dark Knight. Tightly gripping Penguin's wrists, Batman menacingly leaned in closer, practically getting right in the criminal's face. "I want to know exactly what you're planning, Penguin. Now, TALK!"
"Jesus! I'll talk! I'll talk! Just don't break my fucking fingers!" Penguin yelled as he leaned back as far in his chair as he could, squirming around uncontrollably. "L-Look! Look! I-I don't know what the big plan is okay!? I was just supposed to be a middleman! Supply a bunch of guys with guns! Get all the criminals in town ready for what's coming!" Penguin yelped when Batman considerably tightened his grip on his wrists. "I swear! I'm not lying! If you want to really know what's going down, you need to catch Scarecrow! He's the one behind all this! He's the one who hired me!"
