A/N: Okay, so I think it's safe to say that there aren't too many crossovers out there that feature the Cross Ange franchise. Which is why I've decided to mesh it together with My Hero Academia for my own special AU story. I hope you all enjoy it, because I hope to have a lot of fun writing a story worthy enough for you all to want to read it. Now with that out of the way, please enjoy the story.
Summary: Izuku Midoriya never thought that he'd ever make a true friend ever again after his childhood friend-turned-bully, Katsuki Bakugo, turned on him ten years ago. But when he meets a princess who is visiting from overseas his life is turned upside down in an instant. Awakening a quirk that he had no knowledge of having, Izuku joins up with his new friend, Ange, to become the greatest heroic duo the world has ever seen! Even if they must face threats from Ange's own home country to protect everyone!
Disclaimer: I don't own the rights to My Hero Academia or Cross Ange!
Prologue
"Mother? Why did we have to leave home so suddenly?"
It was a quiet morning, and the sun was barely beginning to peek over the horizon as two people flew above the ocean in their private jet. One of them was a fifteen year old girl with long golden blonde hair that fell to the small of her back, gorgeous red eyes, and porcelain skin. She was wearing a regal pink dress, pink high heels, and gold jewelry. Sitting across from her was a woman who looked to be like an older version of the teenager, only with pink eyes instead of red. Despite being in her early forties, this woman had aged quite gracefully and didn't look a day outside of her mid twenties.
These two are Queen Sophia and her daughter, Angelise, of the House of Misurugi in a far off kingdom.
Now, just because they're from a country that's ruled by kings and queens, it doesn't mean that they're archaic. Quite the opposite. Their technology is actually highly developed and has only continued to improve as time went on. However, it would appear as though human evolution actually branched out in two different directions.
You see, in one half of the world, humans started being born with the ability to use various different super powers and were capable of a wide variety of unique and oftentimes powerful abilities. Some had almost godly powers such as the strength to lift a mountain, or the power to generate and manipulate elemental powers such as fire or ice. Others had less flashy but still highly versatile abilities such as the power to literally camouflage with whatever environment they're in, or being born with physical traits of certain animals while gaining the abilities of said animals. But then there are some of the less action-packed and quite frankly useless powers that some could be born with. Like the power to inflate your face like a balloon, or having stretchy eyeballs.
Ew!
Over time, these powers came to be known simply as quirks. And a new age was founded as a new career path was created to mitigate the damage as the streets of the cities of the quirk world turned into something out of a comic book. Fantasy became the new reality!
It was an age of heroes!
And that's the part of the world where Angelise and her mother, Sophia, are flying to right now. For you see, they come from the other half of the world where human evolution took a different turn. Instead of developing quirks, some humans developed the ability to use an inner energy source that allows them to manipulate technology and weapons among other things. They call this energy Mana. However, this is where things begin to take a dark turn for society as a whole.
You see, while Mana has allowed this branch of the human race to advance their technology beyond their wildest dreams, having things such as hover chairs and giant mech suits, Mana has also created a divide amongst these people since not everyone is born with Mana. These people who were unable to use Mana became something less than human in the eyes of the Mana users, who made up the bulk of this society, and so labeled these Manaless individuals as Norma. Though mostly being female, Norma are almost always shipped off to military prisons and trained to be living weapons to fight against their foes. Often taken from their parents as infants if they don't show signs of having Mana by a certain age.
It can be heartbreaking sometimes because, despite the child being a Norma, there are times where the child's parents love them despite this and will fight tooth and nail to keep their child even at the cost of their lives!
And more often than not, the parents are killed in the process…
Along with these horrid things done to those without Mana, the Norma are subjugated to segregation and horrible living conditions, being oppressed by those who have a power that they themselves were born without. And though she doesn't say it out loud in public settings, Queen Sophia absolutely abhors how her fellow humans are treated just because they don't have this special power. But she can't do anything about it on her own and she knows that none of the other kingdoms in her region of the world will ever agree with her if she were to propose reformations of how society treats the Norma population.
Angelise is her second-born child and has long been groomed by her mother to one day take the throne as the crown princess. And as such, Sophia has been working hard to instill her own beliefs into her daughter in regards to the Norma and has, for the most part, succeeded. But she still sees how her daughter instinctively gains this looks of fear and anxiety when in the presence of the Norma, though she's quick to hide it. Sophia figured that some time away from such a toxic environment as her own kingdom would be just what her middle daughter needs to grow and form her own opinion on those without Mana.
Hence this little trip they're taking to the other side of the world.
To the world of Quirks.
"I'm sorry that I had to bring you along on such a trip that's so last minute like this, but it's an essential lesson for you. We're going to a foreign country known as Japan where you shall learn some very important diplomacy skills." Sophia explained while using a half-truth.
She had planned on giving her daughter lessons on diplomacy, but she hadn't planned on doing so at this time. Her daughter hadn't even been baptized as the crown princess yet, but something in the older woman's heart told her that they had to leave before then. That if they waited then something terrible would have happened to her entire family. And she knew exactly who would have caused it. But we'll get to that later.
"What is Japan like, mother?" Angelise asked, seeming to accept her mother's answer.
"Well, it's very different from our kingdom, sweetheart. The people of Japan have a culture that is quite unique and yet so fascinating at the same time." Sophia answered.
"Do they use Mana like we do?" Angelise further inquired.
And, to her surprise, her mother shook her head 'no' in response.
"There's something about human evolution that hasn't quite been explained to you in enough detail, my daughter. You see, those who use Mana are not the only superpowered people out there in the world. In places like Japan, human evolution traveled down a different branch and humanity began developing all sorts of different powers of their own. So-called quirks that can be trained at distinguished academies in the hopes of becoming a superhero." Sophia explained.
The princess couldn't believe her ears. A part of the world where Mana doesn't exist among humanity? It seemed completely inconceivable! Sure, there are plenty of Norma back home, but she's never heard of any civilizations where they don't have Mana at all! She would need to really let this all sink in later.
It took her a few minutes to get over the shock, but when she did Angelise asked, "But if everyone has a power, doesn't that mean that nobody is super?".
"You would think that, wouldn't you?" Sophia said with a laugh. "But not all quirks are good for heroics, as there are some quirks that are cosmetic or even just plain useless. Even then, there are an unlucky few who are born without any quirk at all. And unfortunately, that makes their lives… well, absolute shit if I may be blunt."
"Why do you say that?" Angelise asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Because while eighty percent of the population on the side of the world where Japan is are born with some kind of quirk, there is an unfortunate twenty percent that are born quirkless. And among things such as unemployment, homelessness, poor medical treatment, discrimination, and especially suicide, quirkless people make up the bulk of those numbers! It's because of such discrimination against our fellow man that society as a whole could be reduced to nothing but protoplasm if measures aren't taken immediately! Not to mention that in most instances, quirkless people are treated as not even being human!" Sophia explained. "Which is why I intend to fight for quirkless rights. I refuse to allow any more of our fellow humans to be put through such unjust suffering for something outside of their control!"
Angelise looked out the window at the cloudy sky. She knew that the Norma are not particularly liked back home, but by the sounds of it the quirkless had it much worse in comparison. She herself didn't really know what to think of those who didn't have the power of Mana, but she decided to reserve judgment until she had interacted with the people of Japan long enough to get a decent understanding about them. For now, she would wait out the rest of the flight in silence.
***To Be Continued…***
Ending A/N: Well, that's it for chapter one. I hope that everyone enjoyed the first chapter of this rather experimental crossover that I came up with. But now, I need your help with something. And it's in regard to the quirk that I'm going to be giving to Izuku in my story. I haven't decided if he'll still receive One For All or not, though, and don't give me the whole "If he already has a quirk, Izuku doesn't need One For All!" spiel, because I've seen other instances of UA students who already have quirks being given One For All and being made All Might's successor and they already had quirks! Example, Mirio Togata and Eijiro Kirishima! So don't go giving me that argument, because if I do decide to also give Izuku One For All, it ain't gonna change my mind! Anyway, what I need you, the readers, to do is go to my bio and vote on the poll that I've posted in regards to Izuku's quirk which I've made a combination Mutation and Emitter type. Please go and cast your votes and I should have enough data by the time I update this story which will likely be next month at the latest. With that said, thank you so much for reading and I'll see you next time.
Poll Question: Which of these Bit Beasts should I model the mutation aspect of Izuku's quirk after?
Dark Dragoon
Gaia Dragoon
Dark Gaia Dragoon
Driger
Flash Leopard
