Chapter 1: The Return
Edward Lupin, Teddy to his friends and family was incensed! His whole life up to this point had been nothing but a lie, a lie perpetrated by people his family should have been able to trust. So, after the lie that is his life had been revealed Teddy decided to take matters into his own hands. He was going back. Back to the moment before it all went wrong. He was going to save his mother and hopefully save his true father from the agony of their fates.
Using a long-forgotten Black family ritual he was going to go back sixteen years, nine months, and two hours, directly after his conception. Unfortunately, the ritual would make it so that his conception was negated so there wouldn't be two of him running around in nine months.
The ritual though had a price, he would never be able to return to his own time, forever stuck in a timeline he didn't truly belong in. In his opinion, it was worth it just to see his parents happy and healthy not to mention the countless others he would be able to save. Sadly he wouldn't be able to save his father's godfather Sirius Black.
Merlin, it was so weird to think of Harry Potter as his father. For sixteen years Teddy had known the man as his godfather, a lie perpetuated by the weasels as he had come to think of them. That wasn't a fair assessment though. Not all the Weasleys were at fault. Just some of them - Ronald, Ginevra, and Molly. When Arthur found out he spat in Molly's face and disowned his two youngest.
Harry hadn't been seen since he broke to pieces in front of Teddy and Andromeda begging for forgiveness, crying out Teddy's mother's name. Not since he found out the only child, he had was the one he didn't think was his biologically. His whore of a wife had been cheating on him nearly their entire marriage and none of the three birthed by his wife were his.
Veritaserum had gotten them the entire story from the Weasleys, all the lies and betrayal. Madam Bones had been just as angry as Teddy was. She had been friends with all of them since their fifth year in Hogwarts when his father had founded Dumbledore's Army. Not to mention Susan Bones had loved his mother as a big sister since Nymphadora Tonks had always been around the Auror Office when Susan's aunt Amelia was working. Amelia Bones was another death Teddy hoped to prevent. His grandma always talked about how much his mother looked up to the previous Madam Bones.
A voice brought him out of his musings "Mr. Potter, we're ready for you."
"Thank you, King Ragnock, I appreciate the nation's help in these matters," Teddy replied looking at the old goblin king.
"It's no trouble, Mr. Potter, though I did have a question for you if you're so inclined to indulge my curiosity?"
"What is it, King Ragnock?"
"How was it you were unaware of your parentage, especially since you have the gift of serpent speak."
"Well, grandma Andi said it could have come from the Black family, since a Gaunt married into the family 300 years or so ago, and my godfather... sorry, my father always said he was a parselmouth only because of the mental connection he used to share with Voldemort."
"Ah, I see, an inaccurate but fair assumption."
"Inaccurate?"
Looking at him quizzically before replying Ragnock took a deep breath before starting "Since you are family to the deceased I can tell you. That assumption was false! Lily Potter, your paternal grandmother had a lineage test done through Gringotts when she was eighteen. She was from a squibbed line of the Gaunts from the early 1800s. The old magic from the Potter or rather Peverell line must have revived the gift in your family."
Looking at the goblin king in shock all Teddy could do was stand there in a daze. Seeing his reaction Ragnock just chuckled.
"Let's go, the ritual should be ready to proceed. Remember Mr. Potter come to us as soon as you can. Give the crystal to me and use could phrase 2-7-3 to demand an audience with me. And for the love of all that is holy tell me about the Horcrux in the Lestrange vault! I'd rather not have to repair the bank again."
"What about the Horcrux in my father's scar?"
"Bring him also, we can get rid of it easily. Be warned if he has any blocks on his magic they will also be released, so it might be quite painful for him. We have been trying to get him back to Gringotts for close to 15 years, unfortunately, those damn Weasleys have probably intercepted all our missives and since by treaty we can't just show up at his residence without invitation we could do nothing but send more missives."
"Why didn't you just send Bill?"
"William Weasley? He ignored all our requests until we fired him twelve years ago."
"Wait Bill was fired?! He says he still works here."
"He must be in on it then. That would explain a lot when it comes to Miss Delacour."
Seeing the King's pensive look Teddy went to question further but before he could the goblin stopped him when he continued speaking.
"I'm not sure how to say this, but the last time I saw your parents in this bank they were in the company of Miss Delacour, and to say they looked friendly would be an understatement."
Teddy stopped walking right then, with Ragnock stopping as well and giving him an amused look.
"Are you saying that my mum and dad were with Fleur romantically?" he asked his face turning slightly green.
"Yes, I am, young Mr. Potter. Had things played out differently, I think you would have been born a Black instead of a Potter. As a head of two families, your father could have taken two wives. I believe the term you humans use is "polyamorous relationship".
"So, you're saying my mum would have been Lady Black and Fleur would have been Lady Potter?"
"Yes, the nation was confused when all of a sudden miss Delacour was engaged to one of our curse breakers who she had been spurning for months. With the treaties being what they are and her status as a half-breed" Ragnock spat at the classification "all we could do was gossip. Now, let's continue with the things you can change when you get to the past."
Arriving at the ritual room after what felt like a minefield of revelations disguised as advice, Teddy noticed a chalk outline on the ground depicting multiple styles and languages he couldn't make sense of.
"Step into the circle Mr. Potter... and good luck. Though, you may curse my name soon." smirked the goblin king nastily.
"What do you mean King Ragnock?" Teddy asked through narrowed eyes.
Ragnock just chuckled at the now glaring Teddy, "Get in the circle, you're wasting the nation's time."
As Teddy did as instructed, he couldn't help but ask. "Time's about to be overwritten though so we have all the time in the world."
At that Ragnock along with the rest of the goblins in attendance fell into full-blown laughter trying not to fall over. Taking a minute to compose himself the goblin leader remarked. "It seems our usual excuse of "time is gold" doesn't apply in this case. Nonetheless, it's time to start this."
As the ritual commenced the air started to shimmer with magical power, everything was bathed in white light and before Teddy knew it he was spinning and twisting, it almost felt like a mix of portkeying and apparating only worse. Suddenly it stopped, and he hit the ground hard. As he looked up, he did three things, he unconsciously shifted his hair green, he vomited, and he cursed Ragnock to hell. The sight which graced his field of vision was his parents in bed with one Fleur Delacour and they weren't stationary.
"WHAT THE FUCK!" Nymphadora Tonks screamed as she sprang into action just as Teddy slammed his hands over his eyes mumbling over and over "Why here?!". With a quick spell, all three had the bedsheets tightly wrapped around them and wands pointed at the intruder in their midst.
"Who the bloody hell are you?! How'd you get in here?!" Tonks demanded in full Auror mode.
Teddy's hands raised in surrender as he contemplated how to proceed while looking at the face of his mother - a woman he had only seen in pictures of happier times. His hair shifted blue and Tonks' hair automatically followed suit.
"Answer me!" she demanded of the other metamorph with slight hesitation as Harry and Fleur watched on with their wands pointed at the intruder.
"May I lower my hands and pass over my wand, it's kind of a long story. I'll turn around so you three can get dressed first though. I don't want to see you like this, and for the love of Merlin can you open a window or something it smells like you've been having sex for an ungodly amount of time?" his face blushing bright crimson with his hair following suit.
Embarrassed the three ordered him slowly to drop his wand and kick it over, which he did, and turned around slowly with his hands raised as the trio dressed. After the three were clothed and their bits covered they had the intruder lower his hands and take a seat.
"Start and it had better be good, you've just ruined my birthday!" Harry bit out looking miffed.
"Don't worry 'Arry we can make it up to you, non?" Fleur replied flirtatiously and Tonks winked at her two lovers.
"Oh, Merlin! Please stop, I think I'm going to throw up again! Speaking of which can one of you vanish that pile of vomit please?" With a quick wave of Fleur's wand, the mess was gone.
"Answers. Now!" Fleur demanded.
"Okay, My Name is Teddy Lupin and I'm from the year 2012," Teddy said.
"So, Remus is your dad? Who's your mum?" Harry asked dreading the answer he knew was about to hear.
"Nymphadora Tonks." said the metamorph teen and the room descended into a somber silence. Harry felt crushed, and Tonks and Fleur felt confused.
"And Remus isn't my father, you are, dad," Teddy said. The atmosphere in the room turned joyous.
"But... then why do you have Lupin as your surname?" Fleur asked with confusion.
"Because my whole life up until six days ago was a lie!" Teddy spat out, his hair shifting to a bright scarlet red.
Beginning his explanation from the very start of the wizarding war he was quickly interrupted by Fleur.
"What do you mean I was marrying Bill? I can't stand that pillock!" Fleur exclaimed her arms sporting some feathers as she was trying to stem her transformation. Only Tonks and Harry's presence kept her anger at bay.
"I will explain everything at the end," Teddy replied and he continued the tale. Explaining the Horcruxes took some time, especially the quest for finding them. Then came the final battle.
"And then you died mum, you and your husband Remus Lupin," Teddy said as he cried softly, Tonks got up and enveloped her son in a hug as his tears kept falling. Harry looked on, devastation on his face, tears leaking out of his eyes. Fleur wasn't much better as she wrapped herself around Harry seeking comfort.
Taking a minute to compose himself Teddy told them of how Harry went into the forest to die to destroy the Horcrux embedded in his head. Tonks and Fleur looked crushed, and Harry took on a resigned look as if he had always known that his death would be the end of this conflict.
"But then you got up, dad." at this Tonks and Fleur Instantly perked up and Harry for the first time had hope. Continuing Teddy explained Riddle's defeat and Harry's marriage to Ginevra Weasley.
"WHY THE HELL WOULD I MARRY GINNY?! HONESTLY, I CAN BARELY STAND TO BE IN THE SAME ROOM AS HER!" Harry yelled and Fleur looked murderous.
"Love Potions?" asked Tonks quietly.
"Yes, mum," Teddy said as he revealed all that would have happened if not for his return to the past. The love potions, the obliviations, the forced marriages, and the truth coming out.
"That's it! Tomorrow morning the three of us are going to go and get married!" declared Harry matter-of-factly. Fleur and Tonks looked up at him with apprehension and joy.
"But 'Arry?"
"No buts Fleur! This will protect all three of us. If we marry under the old laws, potions and other means of control will be ineffective. Besides we've been talking about this since Christmas last year. We can have a renewal of vows at a later time after Tom's gone for good."
"Love, you're only sixteen. You need parental permission to marry, and I doubt the Dursleys will give it." Tonks said looking at her lover.
"Actually, dad's emancipated." Teddy chimed in. The trio looked at him in shock.
"H-how?" Harry stuttered out.
"The goblins said the participation in the Triwizard tournament did it. Your parents' will reading would have emancipated you at sixteen and Sirius' will reading did it too, or rather it will."
The trio looked at each other and seemed to have a silent conversation before speaking up.
"Gringotts first, then marriage at Gretna Green. When should we leave?" Harry asked Tonks and Fleur.
"I'd say right now. Gringotts is open all day and night, same with Gretna Green at least the magical side is," answered Fleur.
"Let's get going then!" said Tonks. "And pack your stuff, you're never coming back to this house again!"
"Where are we, Dad?"
"The Dursleys, Teddy." Harry grimaced while he and his soon-to-be wives were packing his belongings.
"How come they haven't come in screaming about all the noise?" Teddy wondered out loud, having heard the stories of his father's abysmal upbringing.
"That would be me, Teddy, I silenced the room for the night," Tonks said sheepishly, while Fleur just snickered and Harry's face took on a Weasley shade of red. "Oh please, Fleur you're the screamer, thank goodness for your thighs otherwise I'm sure our soon-to-be hubby would be deaf what with his parseltongue skills." Tonks teased.
"SWEET MORGANA, WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP?" Teddy shouted his face turning an unnatural shade of green. "I don't need to know of my parents' sexcapades!"
"Well, it's not like there's been that many," Harry muttered embarrassedly. "Considering we had to wait for me to reach the age of consent so these two wouldn't get in trouble with the law."
"I still say you're the oldest of us, at least mentally." Tonks teased as Fleur chuckled at her girlfriend's antics.
$ Speaking of Parseltongue, dad, we get it from grandma, not Tom. $ Teddy hissed causing Fleur and Tonks to flinch at the sound of the ancient language.
$ Are you sure, Teddy? $ asked Harry seamlessly slipping into parseltongue.
$ Quite sure dad. The goblins did a lineage test for grandma when she was eighteen. She is descended from the Gaunts from about two hundred years ago. Just like Tom is. $
"Lovely, I'm related to Tom bloody Riddle," Harry mumbled surlily slipping out of parseltongue.
"Share with the class Hon, not all of us speak parseltongue," Tonks prodded annoyed at being left out of the conversation with Fleur nodding her agreement.
"Teddy was just telling me we are parselmouths from my mum's side of the family. She is descended from the Gaunts, just like Riddle is."
"That's not that surprising dad most pure-blood families are related in the wizarding world. I'm pretty sure you're very distantly related to mum even."
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure your great-grandma was a Black before she married your great-grandfather" Tonks chimed in as Fleur muttered something that sound like "British", causing Tonks to slap her arm.
"Anyway, we should get going. I want to get done with Gringotts quickly so I can marry you two beautiful women." Harry said earning him two dazzling smiles and a happy one from his son.
