Good evening,
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Here's 1 of 4 the sneak peeks I'm releasing tonight.
Oxford Not Brogues
Cravings
Part One
It had been a month since Alucard 'saved' her from that small village, Cheddar, and turned her into a vampire. A month of absolute torture as every cell in her body screamed for a single drop of blood that Seras refused to drink. Within that month, the pain in her stomach intensified tenfold. The little vampire could hardly function properly but continued to push forward as if nothing was wrong, as if she wasn't slowly killing herself. Was she trying to kill herself? At this point, even Seras didn't know the answer to that. She wanted to live, despite what she was. But she also hated what she had become. How was she supposed to live with herself? Surely she could suppress everything that made her monstrous and still pretend to be human, right? How far could she go without blood? When will her body give out and dry up, leaving her nothing more but a hungry, aching corpse? Or when will she give in and just drink the blood? When her mind is too broken and her body in too much pain? Maybe at that point she won't even care that she's a vampire as she tears into a fresh, hot body and finally relinquishes herself of this unbearable pain. Seras leaned over her table while she stared down the blood bag that was sinking in the ice that melted hours ago. Her fangs had naturally lengthened in her mouth, encouraging her to drink and have her fill. Her stomach growled, reminding her of the hunger and the pain that she was in. As Seras dropped her head in defeat, her body started to shake in fear and rage. She balled her hands up into tight fists as her eyes burned from fresh tears.
"This isn't fair!" The Draculina exclaimed in her shaky voice.
"I think it's more than fair, Police Girl." That baritone voice reached her ears, making the little vampire cringe. Opening her eyes, the girl lifted her head to immediately pierce the men on the other side of her table. Alucard and Sebastian stood there so proudly while they stared at her with those judgmental looks. It was apparent that they were greatly displeased by her 'little' setback and refused to become a 'proper' vampire. "Unlike so many, you were given more than a second chance. But you're squandering this life I've given you."
"I was given life from my parents!" Seras corrected him. "You're not my parent! This so-called 'life' you've given me is a curse! Not some blessing in disguise or anything I should be grateful for!" Unable to stop, Seras pushed off the table to stand up right before she proceeded feeding her rage and centering it all on them. "I never wanted to become this! I was doing perfectly fine as a human!"
"You were dying, you fool." Alucard reminded her as he narrowed those dangerous eyes on her.
"Only because you shot me in the lung!" Seras hastily interrupted. "You're telling me that there was no other way my strong, invincible, beyond powerful master could have saved me from a weak, two-bit vampire?! That is such utter bollocks and we all know it!"
"Are you insinuating that he turned you on purpose?" Sebastian interfered then.
"Yes!" The Draculina answered before he could even finish that sentence. "Because he was bored or lonely or maybe just wanted a new toy, he had to corrupt my life and turn me into this ghastly thing that can only live off the blood of others like some leech!" With tears still pouring down her face as she struggled to breathe, the girl continued. "And then he has the audacity to not only say that it was my choice, but that this life is actually a gift!" Apart from Seras panting out her fit of rage, the room fell so incredibly silent. Alucard stared her down, looking so deeply disappointed in her. She expected him to yell back or even instantly kill her to end her whining, but he asked her something that completely threw her off.
"Do you despise me, Seras?" Purely stunned by that question Alucard asked her, Seras' eyes widened. The males stared at her while they waited patiently for her to answer. At a loss of words, the Draculina just blinked at them. "Do you?" Alucard asked, causing her to flinch from the sound of his voice.
"N-no," Seras answered. "I just…I just want to know why you turned me when you could have saved me."
"For a reason I have no desire to share with you, not yet anyway." Was her master's dissatisfied answer. His eyes flickered down her body, and he didn't bother hiding that look of disappointment. "You're nowhere near ready for that answer, and I don't think you ever will be." Utterly frustrated by his response, Seras scoffed and shook her head at him.
Un-fucking-believable, The Draculina thought to herself. Why did she think he would give her a straight fucking answer: a proper reasoning of why he did what he did to her?
"Then at least answer me this, Master. Do you regret turning me? Am I a bigger disappointment than you thought I would be?" Seras asked him as she gave him such a cold, hard look. Alucard didn't dare break eye contact with her. In fact, the man didn't even blink. The two stared at each other for a long few seconds before he finally answered.
"Even knowing how much you hate this life, if we were reliving that moment in Cheddar, I would turn you all over again." Her master answered honestly.
"Because you hate me? Because I'm a disappointment?" The Draculina asked.
"Why must you assume that I hate you?" Alucard asked.
"Why else would you turn me all over again even knowing how much I hate this existence?" Seras questioned him.
"I know that the only reason why you're lashing out is because you're starving and in pain." Alucard attempted to change the subject.
"Please, just answer me, Master." The Police Girl begged while she shook her head in disappointment. "Please,"
"You've been starving yourself for a month
You must be going mad from hunger." He proceeded as if she hadn't said anything. The girl buried her face in her shaking hands, hoping to hold back the rage that pounded against her skull.
"Stop!" Seras growled in fury. "Fucking stop and answer my question. Stop dodging it." "You need to drink, Seras, or you will perish." Alucard raised his voice in hope to get through to her. Angrily, the Draculina backhanded the bucket that contained her blood bag. The water from the melted ice sloshed out, spilling onto her table and onto the floor. The blood bag hit the wall and the bag burst open as the bucket noisily clattered on the floor.
"Stop avoiding the question and just fucking answer it!" Seras shouted and bared her lengthened fangs at him. Such hunger and fury mingled in her frightening dark crimson eyes. Once more, the vampire's had an intense staring contest as she waited for an answer, but was never given one. Tears of anger streamed down the Draculina's face the longer she had to wait for an answer that was never going to be given. Giving up completely on that answer, Seras did her best to wipe the tears from her face. "Forget it!" She exclaimed.
"Are you trying to kill yourself, Seras?" Sebastian asked her. "Is that your goal?"
"Seras?" Alucard whispered as realization seeped into his gaze then. Was that a hint of worry she heard in the tone of his voice?
"Do you intend on starving yourself?" The demon pushed, digging for those answers.
I don't know! They heard Seras' private thoughts so clearly as she became more agitated. I don't know what the fuck I'm doing!
"No!" Seras answered, though they already knew the girl was greatly uncertain of what she was doing to herself. The girl ran her fingers through her hair while head reeled. She was really starting to notice not only just how heavily the agitation was weighing on her, but also her hunger. She just wanted them to stop talking! "No! I'm just confused, annoyed, and...hungry!" She added thoughtlessly.
"Then eat, Seras." Alucard tried to hold an authoritative tone, but in actuality was begging her. "Have some blood to prevent from perishing." He negotiated with her, but his stubborn Childe wouldn't take it.
"No!" She defied him, looking all the angrier that he would suggest such a thing to her. "No! I'm not going to drink that vile stuff!" Her stomach growled in protest and her mouth filled with saliva as if to say "I beg to differ". No, the blood looked quite appetizing to the new vampire, but she hardly wanted to admit that to herself.
"Then you're killing yourself, Seras! If you continue like this, you'll be dead by the end of this week!" Alucard grew angrier, unable to comprehend her defiance and pure stupidity. Why was she doing this? Did she hate him and this life that much?
"Just stop!" Seras begged before, like a child, she cupped her hands over her ears and closed her eyes as if she would be able to block them out. "Just fucking stop!"
"Do you hate us so much, you would be willing to starve yourself just to get away from us?" Sebastian asked, sounding…heartbroken? Police Girl was unable to decipher the tone of his voice, but surely it wasn't pain. It couldn't be.
"I don't hate either of you! How many times must I repeat that?!" Seras growled before she finally lowered her hands and looked back at them.
"You only said it once and even then you could barely get out a proper response." The demon reminded her with a frown.
"Fuck me!" The Draculina exclaimed in pure exhaustion of this ridiculous loop they were going in. Why did they even care what she thought of them? "I don't hate either of you!"
