Freedom

Author Note: I do not own Harry Potter. That is all owned by the great lady. I do not claim to make money or wish to off of these poor scribbles of writing. Instead I just do this for fun and hope someone gets some enjoyment from reading it.

"Harry Potter must not go back to Hogwarts it is too dangerous!" The little passionate House elf cried. The tiny creature bounced around the bed excitably trying to get Harry's attention.

The raven haired youth looked at the creature with a frown of concern, "I have to go to school Dobby. If I don't I would lose my magic!"

Hoggywarts is not safe for Harry Potter! There are many dangers there including old Headmaster! This year will not be safe for Great Harry Potter!" The little house elf frowned as his eyes grew huge. He reached over and took hold of a lamp starting to bang it against his head.

Harry leapt from where he was standing near the door towards the elf taking hold of the lamp. He pulled it away from the little elf and placed the lamp back onto the table. "Shhhh, if you keep doing that I will be beaten!"

"The Great Harry Potter will be hurt?" The eyes of the house elf grew huge as he looked up at Harry His bottom lip trembled in concern and worry for the young wizard.

The young man didn't mean to say that. He didn't want to admit his situation to others. He never spoke about it in school last year and had learned early on in school nobody would care or help anyways. He asked quickly towards the little elf, a plea filling his voice trying to get it to limit it's mischief, "Yes, That is why I need to go back to school. I can't stay here. They treat me horribly and beat me Dobby."

"Harry Potter wants to go to school year round? Harry Potter doesn't want to lose his magic but Hogwarts is too dangerous for the Great Harry Potter!" The House elf looked worried for a moment then looked down at the floor deep in thought. Then he blinked and looked up happily, "Harry Potter needs to go to different magic school! Dobby get Great Harry Potter into a different school where Harry Potter will be safe and get to learn magic year round!"

The young man blinked at that in surprise as he sat down in surprise onto is bed, "They have schools that are year round?"

"Yes, all Great Harry Potter needs to do is write a letter that he wants to attend and Dobby will take it to Head Mistress and get Great Harry Potter into school." The little house elf jumped up and down on the floor excited by the idea he had.

Now the young man was torn, part of him was worried because this would mean he wouldn't be with his friends. On the other hands his friends had never bothered to write to him. The fact that they had abandoned him was strange to Harry and made him question everything. No to mention that Ron always seemed to act odd often when he didn't know Harry was there. Harry had noticed that he was different when he was not around Harry. The young man had went so far as to wear his invisibility cloak and follow Ron around a bit. It seemed that the ginger haired boy was telling lies about Harry to other students! Harry had caught him telling a few Hufflepuffs to stay away from Harry and that he wanted nothing to do with a lesser House!

While Harry loved to learn magic, he now had questions about Hogwarts and the Headmaster. At the end of the year he had told the old man blatantly that the Dursley family abused him and still the old man had sent him back here. Supposedly it was for his own protection and the greater good for Harry to live like an animal and be a slave for this family. Did they not care about what was happening to him? The school nurse had checked him a few times and he knew she had seen the scars but never questioned him about it. Why wouldn't anyone ask him if something was wrong?

Perhaps a new school was the best plan, e could go year around and stay away from the Dursley family then. It would work perfectly, a chance to learn as much magic as possible and not be stuck here in hell during the summer vacation. He might be viewed as Harry not the boy who lived. If he was lucky he might even get some friends who would care enough to write him back.

Harry made his decision and went over to the desk and took out a parchment and quill. There he wrote three quick letters and sealed each one. He handed them over to the House elf, "You will take these and get a response for me Dobby?"

"If Great Harry Potter won't go to Hogwarts then Dobby will be happy to bring these to schools. Dobby knows multiple magic schools and will have letters brought to them at once!" The little house elf took the letter s and disappeared with a pop.

It was three days later when Harry was lying in bed reading a book that he had mail ordered with Hedwig that Dobby reappeared in his room. The little house elf looked a little haggard and tired but he was holding a small pile of scrolls. Dobby placed them down onto the bed and smiled brightly, "Dobby brought Great Harry Potter acceptance letters to many schools and pamphlets for them. These schools would want Great Harry Potter to transfer."

The young man looked at all of the mail in surprise. There was a large pile of acceptance letters and numerous copies of information about the schools. The little house elf appeared to have been all around the world in the past three days because there were letters from as far as Japan and New Zealand!

Harry slowly reached down and started to pull out the letters opening them up one by one. In all there were fifteen schools that had accepted Harry into their school. All of them had summer programs that wizards and witches could stay for extra lessons or independent studies year round. Next he started to look over the pamphlets surprised at all of the information about the different schools.

He looked up and smiled at the little house elf who was dancing foot to foot looking at Harry with huge eyes, "You did well Dobby. Thank you, can you give me a day or two to read these so I can decide where I want to go?"

Dobby nodded his head enthusiastically with a smile, "Dobby do that. Dobby will come back for Great Harry Potter and take his choices to schools. Dobby is happy to help the Great Harry Potter!"

Harry watched the little elf pop away to wherever he came from and smiled. He was lucky this summer that had found a way to get away. He had never expected to be free of the Dursley family but now he possibly never would have to come back!

Harry was all packed and ready to go. E had put together all of his clothing that he had into his trunks along with more than a few things he had mail ordered. He had ordered new robes, books, supplies and everything he might need for his new school of choice. He had even slipped away and spoken to the goblins. He had been able to find out his family had two names Potter and Peverell. So the young man decided that when he went to the new school he would change his name to Henry Peverell, so others wouldn't be able to track him down as easily. He also even gotten out and picked up contacts along with growing out his hair to look a little less a duplicate of his father. Everything he had acquired had been put together and packed into his expandable trunk.

He turned his eyes over the bare room with a smile. This would be the last day ever in this hellhole. He would finally be free never to have to return! Harry could barely contain his excitement as he looked around the room with a smile.

There was a pop and again the strange little creature appeared in the room. It looked up at Harry with a bright smile, "Dobby take Harry Potter away from here then Great Harry Potter can use his portkey. This is what Harry Potter wanted to do yes?"

"Yes, this way nobody will know where I disappeared to. I read that people can track these portkey things. But, I doubt they can track you." Harry smiled brightly and took hold of the trunk before offering his hand to Dobby, "Will you help Dobby?"

"Yes Great Harry Potter!" The little elf took hold of Harry's hand happily. He had only wanted to save the Great Harry Potter from the risk of his dark master's plot. But, now he had not only gotten the Great Harry Potter not to go back to Hogwarts but he had saved him from evil muggles. Plus as soon as the Great Harry Potter was gone he would make certain these muggles never harmed anyone again! Dobby may be a good elf but he was an elf taught to know how to do bad things when necessary for his master. He had seen his master kill wantonly and far worse.

Dobby popped Harry away to a safe location were Harry would take his portkey to freedom!

~~~ Freedom ~~~

The Dursley family was happy. Vernon had just completed a financial transaction for his company that was sure to get him a promotion! The couple had even laughed at Vernon's Japanese golf joke. The night had gone perfectly and their horrible freak of a nephew had been quiet. The dinner was perfect and everything had gone to plan.

Little did they know it would be the last night of their lives! Dobby popped into the kitchen after the family had gone to sleep. They had left out most of the plates and dishes for the freak to wash and clean the next day. It was a fight internally for the little house elf to resist cleaning it all up. Instead the little creature concentrated on the purpose of tonight. So he walked over to the muggle stone and looked it over carefully. It only took a snap of the fingers to cause the gas stove to spring a leak. A second snap caused all of the windows to close and magically lock tightly. Finally Dobby popped outside in the backyard to wait.

A few hours later just before dawn Dobby figured there was enough gas in the evil muggle house. So he snapped his fingers one last time. The effect was immediate as there was a flash in the windows before a giant explosion! The place went up like a ten sticks of dynamite! The top of the house ripped off of itself blown around the street, bricks and stone fell over the grounds and into the perfect rose bushes.

Dobby popped way from the ruins of the house of the evil muggles happy knowing that he had done the right thing. Now the Great Harry Potter would be free and never abused again!

Author note: Slightly evil Dobby? Perhaps corrupted a bit by the Malfoy family so willing to do whatever he felt was necessary to accomplish what he wanted. Harry could go to a number of schools most likely I would do it as Gabrielle/Harry at Beauxbatons.
