Leon stared at the creature he had summoned with curiosity. After all he had just summoned a Yugioh duel monster. Suddenly he grew very drowsy and he had to sit down.
"Huh? What's happening? I feel really tired all of a sudden." Leon yawned.
'I feel so exhausted all of a sudden. Is it because I summoned the Vampire Familiar? It feels like the energy was just drained out of my body. I guess summoning has a cost.' He concluded.
The Familiar flew up to him before resting on his shoulder. Leon noticed the creature had propped itself on his shoulder and was a little startled for a moment but quickly recovered.
"Alright , I want you to scout the area for me. Tell me about my surroundings, especially if you spot a city or a town. You got that?" Leon ordered.
The familiar nodded its head before hopping off his shoulder and flying off. Leon watched the bat as it flew out of sight through the trees.
"Now what, normally I would keep walking but now I'm really tired. Maybe I should find some shelter somewhere instead. Maybe I should have sent the Familiar to search for shelter instead." He said once again talking to himself.
Leon continued to walk through the woods. As time went on he noticed that the terrain started to incline downward somewhat. He continued his trail forward at a slightly faster pace due to the downward slanted terrain and another half hour passed with nothing remarkable happening. At this point Leon was worried he was going to be out here after dark and that he should start making plans for food and water however hope came back as the familiar returned.
"Please tell me you found something." Leon pleaded.
The bat seemed to be motioning him to follow and so he did. After a few minutes of walking he was led to a boulder that seemed to stick out of the ground like a tilted spike. After a little bit of climbing, (VERY careful climbing, many have died climbing things without caution or safety gear. Leon did NOT want to be one of those.) he found himself on top of the boulder which peaked just above the trees allowing him to view his surroundings.
In the distance Leon could spot an enormous mountain range which expanded across the horizon as far as he could see. There was however a large valley that seemed to lead right through the mountain range. Closer to him he could see a town that rested at the bottom of a small mountain. The mountain range was a long way off but the town was only about 5-6 miles at most.
Leon breathed a sigh of relief as he spotted the town. Now he wouldn't have to survive in the wilderness for a while. In fact he was grateful he was as close as he was. Based off the position of the sun in the sky he could probably make it there just before nightfall as long as he hurried. Not only that but he was hungry, having not eaten in a while hunger was starting to creep up on him.
A smile came across his face as he thought about what he would do next.
"First food, then a place to stay, afterward I can learn more about using these cards. I'm sure it won't take long for the others to figure stuff out but I should probably make it a priority to find them. If I'm lucky we all landed in the same area. Well, only one way to find out!" Leon said with a grin.
-1 week later-
*Slop* Leon dragged the mop across the floor grumbling as he did so. 'Why did people have to make a mess? It was almost closing time so why couldn't they just hurry up and leave?' He thought.
1 week ago Leon had arrived here at the town of Midbell with no money, no food, and nothing to his name. The town proved to be severely lacking in the technology department as it was like he was back in the medieval age. When he first arrived the first thing he noticed were the statues everywhere. They were everywhere, you couldn't walk down the street without seeing them. The statues were exact replicas of the legendary Blue Eyes White Dragons. Apparently the town was under the protection of the dragons. Their ancestors had made a deal with the dragons allowing them to settle at the edge of the dragon's territory. Every year one of the Blue Eyes would show up at the edge of town and collect a sacrifice from the town. Most of the time it was usually just food, something the townsfolk were more than happy to provide as food was plentiful. However Leon had found it a little suspicious that the village he so happened to be closet to when he landed was a village that was protected by the Blue Eyes, one of the most popular monsters in Yugioh.
Moving on he quickly realized it was getting dark and Leon didn't feel like spending the night sleeping outside so after some wandering through the town he found a job notice at an inn that provided a free room and a small amount of currency in exchange for work. Since he had nowhere else to go Leon took the job and this is where he has been spending the last week. The reason he still was working even now was because Leon was still trying to learn about his current world and he might as well keep the job until he knew what he wanted to do next.
There was no sign of Brandon, Colt, or Rylan so it could be assumed he was on his own. They were most likely still attempting to adjust to the new environment like he was. Rumors had spread around town about the light that fell from the sky into the nearby woods. There was worry however after a few days of nothing happening it abated and life proceeded as normal. Since there was only one such occurrence Leon assumed that he was the only one in the area.
During the week he had been here Leon encountered a problem. The Vampire Familiar that he summoned STAYED summoned. Meaning as far as he knew he couldn't just unsummon these guys. They were permanent so he would have to think carefully whenever considering summoning something. The Vampire Familiar he summoned required food which at first he was worried about until he learned it could feed off the nearby farm animals. Also when he meant food, he meant blood. Which was actually ok because the bat could take some blood from a farm animal and it wouldn't even kill it. It would be woozy for a few hours before going back to normal which prevented the bat from being discovered. Most of the time Leon had the bat hiding somewhere during the day and it would come and watch over him at night.
Leon continued to replay what happened during the past week when he heard a voice interrupt his train of thought. He looked up to see a bald old man who so happened to be his boss.
"Hey, stop sitting on your ass and get to work! If you can finish mopping you're done for the day so get a move on!" The old man grumbled, cranky as always.
Leon nodded and got back to work.
