Alright, it's about time I wrote the war part of this story. I may end this story in a twist so be warned. So it's been a few months here and I think that a lot of you thought I forgot all about this story. Well, I'm sorry that it has taken so long for me to update this I've just been really busy lately and truthfully, I just haven't been feeling it you know. Other than that, not much else to say other then, I have another story that I'm working on so feel free to read that and review. Let's get on to the story!
No one made any sound for fifteen minutes after Hiccup had flown out of the room. Stoick didn't even move. He just stood frozen to his spot like many of the others. Finally he was brought out of his trance by something.
"Listen everyone, I'm sorry for what just happened and Hiccup was just bluffing."
"It didn't look like he was bluffing when he flew out the doors on a Night Fury Stoick! You owe us an explanation!"
"Yeah Stoick! What happened between you!?"
"Everyone quiet down please," Stoick shouted. He was frightened, nervous, and angry and saddened all at once. He should have been a better father to Hiccup. "What happened between my boy and I is none of your concern. He was just bluffing about the war. I assure you. Now if there are any more questions I will not answer them and instead I will get these games going." Stoick raised his arms and the crowd cheered. He put his hands down and turned to walk away. Gobber limped up to him.
"You know you can't ignore Hiccup forever Stoick. You know that he wasn't bluffing."
"I know Gobber, but they don't need to."
"They aren't going to stop pestering you about Hiccup and his Night Fury."
"I know, but I have to keep their thoughts elsewhere and if risking our lives and theirs is the way to do it, I must not. I can't have a war going on. Especially between us and dragons for Odin's sake. we wouldn't stand a chance against Hiccup if he has an army of dragons."
"That's not the Stoick that I know."
"I'm sorry Gobber, it's just, I never thought Hiccup was alive until he turned up years ago, then I leaned he trained a…a Night Fury, and now he threatens our people with war. I didn't think he was chief material Gobber. He was so weak, so tiny, so fragile…"
"An' very smart." Stoick looked at Gobber strangely. "You never noticed did you. Hiccup was the best blacksmith in the Archipelago and I do believe he still is if he made what he was wearing an' he was carryin' some pretty vicious looking weapons on him as well. What he lacked in brawn he made up in brains. He was always off creatin' some new contraption that I doubted would work an' it rarely ever did. He still kept tryin' though."
"Hiccup was always stubborn."
"How would you know Stoick?"
"What do you mean Gobber?"
"I saw how you looked at Hiccup. You always pitied him and despised him. You thought he was a disgrace to your family."
"You noticed?"
"Everyone on the island noticed Stoick, but they went with you. They believed that he was a disgrace to the line of chief's." Gobber just swung his head back and forth before limping away. He actually thought of Hiccup as a son.
Stoick watched his long time friend hobbled away. He felt horrible for having treated Hiccup so cruelly. Now everyone was going to pay for his mistake.
Hiccup was standing atop the cliff that looked over the valley. It was filled with dragons of all species. Timberjacks, Gronkles, Scauldrons, Changewings, Terrible Terrors and so many more. They were overfilling the valley.
"Hiccup, you don't have to wage war against your family." Toothless had been supportive of Hiccup, but he was sort of against the idea of Hiccup wiping Vikings off of the face of the Earth.
"I'm not waging war against my family. I'm waging war against the people who had banished me, who have done us wrong, have killed thousands upon thousands of us. You probably don't understand Toothless, but I need to do this." Hiccup really didn't want to do this. He was scared. He shouldn't hurt the people that had become his family, no matter how broken. They only had hurt him. They had also hurt his friends. Hiccup knew that he could back down, but he wanted to keep his promise to Stoick. He told him a war was coming and a war he would bring.
"Attention everyone! Thank you for joining me today on this day. The day we shall avenge our fallen brothers and sisters. The day that we invade Berk and make the dragon kind the most feared in the Archipelago," Hiccup shouted from the cliff. A loud chorus of growls, snorts, hisses and roars could be heard. "It is time to go and make our names be feared. Leaders gather your troops and set your course to Berk. Join me and Toothless and together we shall win!" Toothless looked into Hiccup's eyes briefly, but it was enough time to see Hiccup's actual thoughts and feelings. Hiccup didn't want to do this. He didn't want to harm his own kind. He didn't want to be feared. He wanted to be loved and have a little respect shown to him. Toothless wasn't surprised by this discovery though. Hiccup had always been more of a pacifist than a war leader. He hated to shed unnecessary blood. Hiccup motioned for Toothless to follow and he complied. All the way, Toothless was asking himself, will Hiccup make the right choice.
Okay I lied big time. This isn't the war chapter. Next chapter will be, I hope. Sorry it's so very short and it left you hanging and lots more. I just thought that right here was good to end and wanted to lead it up to next chapter. If you want the war, then stay tuned. I will try to write it and post it fairly soon. School's almost out so I will hopefully have more time on my hands. Anyways, until next time!
