Hey guys, I'm back and guess what. I got a brand new laptop! So happy right now, it's just crazy. Anyways, just a random fact about my recent life. Let us get on to what you really care about. This is the war chapter I believe and if it is not I honestly and sincerely apologize to all of you guys who thought it was, but I am almost completely certain that this will be the war chapter. It may get kind of wonky and stuff, so stick with me. Enough of my rambling, lets get on with the war!
Hiccup motioned for the leaders to get their warriors in their formations. They were heading off to Berk. Hiccup mounted Toothless and the dragons all took to the air. They were ready for anything.
Stoick was getting ready for the first day of the games. Astrid, Snotlout, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Fishlegs all stood around waiting. They were nervous, not just for the games, but also for what Hiccup may do. Astrid felt as if it was all her fault. She should have treated him better. Snotlout could have been nicer as well, but she blamed herself.
Stoick stepped up onto the stage and gave the beginning of the games speech. On the day of the games beginning, the chief of the hosting island would give a speech and then a horn would be blown to signal the beginning of the games. When the games were over, the same horn would be blown and the chief would once again give a speech, this time congratulating everyone and announcing the winners. Then the horn would be blown for a third time and everyone would mingle until their chief's decided that it was time to go back to their home island.
"Welcome, everyone, to the start of this year's games!" A loud cheer arose from the gathered vikings. There were shouts and yells. "I know that many of you are nervous or frightened for what may be in store. I also know that many of you have never participated in these annual games before. You will be doing three challenging, well, challenges. Each of you will be ranked and each day, the two vikings with the lowest scores will be eliminated. In the end, there will be one winner from each tribe. There will also be an overall winner. Out of all the islands and tribes here, one winner will be chosen and that winner will get the trophy. Now who's ready to begin?" A loud cheering once more rose from the group. "Let the games begin!" Just as the horn was about to be blown, a loud screeching could be heard. Many vikings covered their ears in pain. "Oh Odin, help us," Stoick exclaimed quietly. His eyes widened at the sight before him.
Thousands of dragons were shooting in at rapid speeds toward the island. The vikings shouted and some screamed in horror. The first wave landed on Berk and the battle began. Spines and flame met shield and flesh. Screams of pain erupted from the clearing. More noticeable was the screeches of pain from the dragons as the were stabbed, shot or sliced. This was the first wave, but the vikings knew nothing of it. They had seen thousands of dragons, but never realized that there was only about a hundred fighting them currently.
Vikings and dragons alike fell to the bloodied ground. Pools of red flowed toward the water, only to be splashed by a fighting pair. Nadders, Nightmares, Gronkles, Zipplebacks, dragons of the known species fought, tooth and claw, fire and flame, against the viking mass. The first wave consists of the more known dragon species such as Gronkles and Terrible Terrors. The second wave consists of the lesser known dragons like Scauldrons and Whispering Deaths. The third and final wave was of the dragons that no vinking had ever heard of, they may have seen, but have never heard of. This was the wave that Toothless, Hiccup, Crystal and Shimmer would join. Hiccup would be the largest dragon in the Archipelago. The Bewilderbeast. A titan wing Bewilderbeast at that, but Hiccup may just ride Toothless in depending on how the first waves go.
The first wave's numbers were dwindling, but the vikings stood strong. They netted at least five dozen dragons, but none would survive or still lived. They struggled and growled, most lay motionless. There were ten dragons left standing with only minor injuries. They knew what to do though. They flew up to the sky and combined their fires to form one stream. It rained down on the viking mass before the dragons turned and flew back towards the waiting wave.
The vikings cheered and began celebrating. Stoick climbed atop what was left of the charred stage and shouted to the remaining vikings.
"Listen here! We have won a great victory here today!" Shouts of glee and triumph rung out. The crowd raised their weapons and cheered. "I am sorry for everyone's loss of family, friends and loved ones here today. I fear this is not the end. We were warned, but chose not to heed his warning." Stoick didn't mention Hiccup's name nor that he was his son. To Stoick, Hiccup was not his son, but a traitor. "We must not celebrate early for there is more to come." Stoick gestured to the sky and as if on cue, the second wave rained from the sky. The lesser known dragons fought fiercely. Once more, the dragons fought tooth and claw against the shrinking numbers of vikings. They knew full well why they were all here. They had games that they participated in. Dragon fighting and murdering games. Training to fight and kill them.
Fire met shield as the numbers for both sides began shrinking faster. The vikings were running out of energy and hope. "All hope is lost," some shouted as they fought before a blood curdling scream ripped through the air. Blood ran and the sky darkened with a storm. Astrid and the gang were tangled with a group of Smothering Smokesbreaths. They were small, but the smoke was well smothering and the dragons had taken most of their weapons except for Astrid's axe. The dragon's knew their masters work when they saw it. She was his friend, his love perhaps? They could not take their masters offering to her.
Many cries rang out. Dragon and viking alike. Metal clashed against dragon scale. The sky grew darker as the clouds grew more ominous. The flames surrounding the fighting masses lit the clearing frighteningly. Shadows danced upon the scuffed up ground. Viking bodies lie scattered around, arms and legs bent at impossible angles, faces marred, bodies charred. After an hour more, both sides knew that neither would live long. The dull thud and the splash of blood was audible as well as the cries and howls of agony. Human and reptile lay dying, crying and whimpering for help. Both species, though different in many ways, were alike in quite a few. They all had hearts and their strings were tugged by the wails of agony. When few were left standing on either side, the second wave, what was left of them at least, nodded to the remaining vikings. They looked into eachothers eyes and saw the sorrow and pity for themselves and the other side. The dragons took off into the dark sky as a streak of lightning flashed across the sky. The dragons were illuminated for a brief moment before disappearing among the clouds.
Thunder rumbled in the distance as rain poured down, drenching the already blood soaked vikings. None wanted any more dragons to fight. They had all lost too many lives, both sides. Stoick tilted his head to the sky and left the tears of the fallen rain down on him, coating his aching and battered body.
They began to believe it was all over when a very familiar sound, a very frightening sound, rang through the clearing. "Night Fury!" Screams rang through the clearing a blue shot came and made contact in the middle of the group. The vikings surrounded the dark figure that was hidden by smoke with their weapons raised. They would avenge the fallen. From the dust emerged a sleek black Night Fury. Forest green eyes met the eyes of frightened and pained vikings until they lay rest upon Stoick's. The most feared dragon in the whole Archipelago snarled and hunched it's back. An ominous blue glow was emitted from the Night Fury. As it approached Stoick it's eyes flashed red with anger and then back to their forest green. The dragon's left hind leg was missing and in it's place was a prothstetic. Stoick knew that the dragon could have four fully functioning and healthy limbs, but it wanted everyone to know who it was. The dragon drew closer to Stoick as Stoick led it away from the group of vikings. The dragon grew and became a Titan wing Night Fury. The blue glow lit the darkened clearing. Rain pelted both dragon and human as thunder rumbled through the sky.
A flash of lightning shot through the sky. The dragon froze and got in a stalking position. It snarled at Stoick as the mass of vikings grew closer. They wanted to see what was happening. They all freaked and some fainted when they saw what happened next.
"Hiccup," Stoick said to the Night Fury who just stayed in one position. "Hiccup, lets just talk, and I mean face to face, not face to snout." Hiccup snorted and let out a growl before complying. He changed back into himself and approached Stoick once more.
"I still have another full wave of dragons that you have never even dreamed of. You know nothing about them, but they know about you. They are the stealthiest, fiercest and most feared dragons if one had ever encountered one. Let me tell you this, I did not want to lose any lives over this. I thought the warning would be enough and you would understand, but you didn't. I have Toothless, Crystal and Shimmer hovering in the clouds, waiting for my signal to bring our final wave down on you. No one would make it out alive, no one. Not you, not me, not anyone. It was already a bloodbath and I do not want to spill any more blood than what has already been spilled," Hiccup whispered urgently and menacingly to Stoick. Stoick's eyes were welling up in tears. Hiccup's were too. Neither wanted this to continue any longer.
"I understand, son," Stoick told Hiccup and Hiccup stepped away and started to turn into the Night Fury to get the others when an arrow shot past and hit it's mark. Hiccup, fully in the Night Fury form, staggered towards the edge of the cliff. Three more arrows whizzed forward and hit their target. Hiccup had not become the Titan wing Night Fury so he was not as protected. Hiccup staggered back before his prosthetic slipped over the edge and Hiccup collapsed. He coughed roughly and blood spattered the churned up dirt. Stoick started towards his fallen son when he heard a sickening crack. Hiccup lifted his head the best he could and looked at Stoick with pleading and understanding eyes before the cliff crumbled, sending Hiccup careening over. He attempted to fly, but his right wing had caught a sharp rock and torn. He was falling and falling. Hiccup began to fade fast and when he hit the water, darkness engulfed him at the same time.
Stoick watched his son try to fly. He watched as Hiccup seemed to fall in slow motion over the edge of the cliff. Hiccup hit the water with a loud crack and sank slowly into the crashing waves below. Stoick collapsed and did something he rarely did. He cried. Hiccup was trying to have Stoick see he wasn't Hiccup the Useless. That he was a fighter and he was a worthy chief. He proved just that, but now he was at the bottom of the ocean. The sun creeped out from behind it's shelter. The clouds slowly thinned and dissipated. The remaining vikings had made their way cautiously to Stoick and stood by him as he stood. They offered their condolences. Stoick shook them off. Somewhere, deep inside, Stoick knew Hiccup was alive. Hiccup was a fighter and he was the strongest viking that Stoick had ever met.
Finally, I finished this chapter. It sucks big time, but I hadn't worked on it in a while and then I started it again and after about five times fixing it, I finally got it to not suck as much as before. It is still horrible so don't tell me what's wrong with it okay. I know what's wrong with it, but I won't have much time to post anything for the next two weeks so I fixed this up. I hope it's okay, I also suck at writing battles so forgive me. I need your help, should I kill off Hiccup or let him live? Should I pair up Toothless and Crystal or Toothless and Shimmer? I need some feedback from you guys. I writing this for you so I want to make sure it's how you guys like it. So let me know and review! Until next time! This is not over…
