I'm back finally. Took me long enough! Enjoy chapter 21!

The last couple weeks have been a breeze. Since we signed the treaty life has been great, at least for me. I've ignored Elena and her band of misfits, who have had to deal with their own problems. I've thrived in school with Caroline and Rebekah at my side, and Klaus has been looking into who tried to kill me.

I get a call from Klaus meet him at the mansion. I grab my keys and hop in my car and make my way over. I arrive at the Mikaelson Mansion and notice the front door is slightly ajar.

I make my way inside and hear a scuffle going on towards the end of the house. I move towards the noise and when I enter one of the many rooms I come face to face with Klaus and Elijah in the middle of a fight.

"Well I wasn't expecting this, when you invited me over." I pipe up announcing myself.

The two stop fighting and turn to face me. "Miss Gilbert." Elijah nods.

I smile. "Please call me Brie." I offer. "I take it Klaus wasn't the one to remove the dagger?"

Klaus nods. "No, I was waiting for the house to be finished."

"Who removed the dagger?" I ask curiously.

"There is a list of people who could, but my guess, a certain Salvatore." Elijah assumes.

"They have been rather quiet lately, we will need to keep an eye out for them then." I advise. I turn to face Klaus. "You called me over here?"

"Yes, I was wanted you over so you could help me organise a formal ball." He replies.

"A ball for who?"

"I'm going to be reuniting with my family I want to introduce them to the town." He explains.

"A ball you say, I think I can handle that." I accept. "Let me know when you want to do this and I will work my magic."

"Thank you love."

"I take it I've missed a lot, whilst I was daggered?" Elijah speaks up.

"Yeah, a little." I confirm. "Rebekah is undaggered and attending Mystic Falls High School with me and Caroline." I list off. "Mikael is dead, and someone is trying to kill me." I add.

Elijah turns to face me shocked. "Wait Mikaels dead?" Elijah asks turning to Klaus.

Klaus nods. "There is things I need to tell you Elijah, and I hope that now that our biggest threat is gone, we can finally reunite as a family and build a life here." Klaus wishes.

"Than I guess you better start talking." Elijah suggest.

I walk over to Klaus and place a kiss on his cheek. "You two have a lot to talk about." I mention. "Please, hear him out, and take into account what he's been through, you will understand." I advise. "Ring me if you need me."

I arrive at my place and I can hear Alaric and Elena in the kitchen. Why is Alaric still here? I think I need to get Jenna back here to kick him out.

I quietly make my way up stairs when the doorbell rings. I quickly run up the rest of the stairs and duck behind the landing as Elena and Alaric answer the door. "Sherif Forbes." Elena greets.

"I'm sorry to drop by unannounced but there's some things I need to discuss with you." Sherif Forbes addresses.

"What?" Alaric asks.

"I assume you both heard that our medical examiner was murdered the night of the Wickery Bridge fundraiser?"

"Brian Walters right?" Elena asks.

"Yes, we've been doing some investigating, and someone drove this stake through his heart."

"That's one of ours." Alaric mentions. "This is from your parents lake house."

"That's why I'm here, forensics ran for prints, and they only found one clean set." She explains. "Yours." She announces.

I grin. Elena is a suspect in murder, no, she doesn't have it in her. But I am intrigued, there is a unknown murderer out there and it looks like they are going after people that know about vampires.

I enter my room when my phone rings. I look at who it is and smile. "Hi Nik." I greet. "How did it go with Elijah?"

"It went well, in fact, he's meeting up with Damon Salvatore right now, trying to figure out what he's up to." He responds. "He's also going to help look into who tried to kill you."

"Interesting because I've just overheard an interesting conversation, there's a murderer in town and they look to be going after founding families, they used one of my family stakes from my lake house."

"I don't like how you are still living in that house." He expresses.

"I know." I sigh as I hear his phone buzz. "Klaus?"

"It sounds like Elijah is working his magic. Be at my place for dinner at 7, there is going to be a family dinner."

"Are you reuniting your family?"

"Yes, I have some undaggering to do."

"Wait, I think we may need a bit of persuasion, Finn the eldest brother you have, we might need to find Sage."

"Now that you say that, I think your right, I'll get Elijah to retrieve her."

"I'll call Rebekah and let her know."

"Thanks love, see you soon."

Later on that day I meet up with Rebekah at The Grill. "Is there anyone I should be worried about in your family?" I ask curiously.

"Kol." She answers. "I love him, but he's dangerous, he ruthless, and plays with people and enjoys making havoc."

"What about Finn?"

"Finn is a total bore, he never liked what we were, a total buzz kill. The only time he wasn't sulking or scolding us was when he was with Sage."

"Do you think it's smart to bring Sage here?"

"Yes, as much as I don't like the bitch, she will help real him in."

"Have you heard from Caroline today?" I ask curiously. "I haven't spoken to her at all today."

"No I haven't, we can run by her place after dinner." She suggests.

"Come on let's go get ready."

Tonight I am wearing light denim high waisted skinny jeans with a white cropped long sleeved blouse. I pair it off with brown ankle boots and my hair is in waves.

Once I'm finished getting ready I message Rebekah letting her know I am on my way. She has been keeping me in the loop at how the undaggering is going and to be predicted Kol and Finn aren't happy, but Elijah is keeping them in line.

I send off another message to Caroline as I still haven't heard from her today, this is not like her at all.

I pull into the Mikaelson's driveway and step out of my car. I walk towards the front door and it opens revealing Klaus, looking handsome like always. "Hello love." He greets. "You look great."

I walk into his open arms hugging him. "Hi." I greet.

"Are you ready to meet my family?"

"Ready as I'll ever be." I respond. "How crazy is this night going to be?"

"Let's just say, a lot of surprises will be in order."

He guides me further inside and I make my way into the lounge room, where I see Elijah, Rebekah and two unknown good looking males. "Finn, Kol, I'd like to introduce you to my girlfriend Briana. Briana, these are my brothers Finn and Kol." Nik introduces.

The two brothers approach me in shock. "Hi." I greet holding onto Klaus's arm. "I'm Brie, Klaus has told me so much about you two."

"Really?" Finn scoffs.

"It's true. He may have daggered you but he never stopped talking about you."

"You're a doppelgänger?" Kol mentions.

"I'm a twin actually, but yes I am. I helped Klaus break his curse."

"You willingly sacrificed your own twin sister for Klaus's curse?"

"I did and I'd do it again in a heartbeat." I admit and he smiles in response liking my honesty. "All my life, I was bullied and belittled by my sister, and after my parents died and I left town and lived a life for myself." I explain. "When I met Nik, he helped transform me into someone that is confident and strong and fights for what they want."

"Wow, I never thought I'd see the day that Klaus would willingly save someone." Kol admits.

"When he told me about you all, you should have seen the smile that was on his face, he genuinely loves you, and I know what he did was wrong, but you have to understand and put yourself in his shoes; imagine being abused your whole life, never being good enough, always taking the brunt of the physical attacks, he did what he did because that is what Mikael and your mother did to him." I enforce. "I would love to see you live the life he did, and say you wouldn't do the same thing." They all look down in shame. "I'm not here to fight Klaus's battles, he is more than capable on doing that on his own, but I am going to defend my boyfriend every time, because that is what you do when you love someone." I exclaim. "You fight for them, you kill for them and you sure as hell will do anything to make them happy."

"We can truly see that you love our brother." Elijah notices.

"And I always will." I smile and hold Klaus close to me. "Now I know that there is a lot of work that needs to be done in repairing the bond of this family, but right now, every one in this room are the most powerful and influential people in town." I express. "With us standing united, we will demonstrate to anyone that stands in our way, that no one messes with this family."

"You truly are perfect for Nik." Rebekah chuckles.

I laugh. "We make a great team. But I don't want it just Klaus and I, I want it all of us."

"Are you sure you aren't human?" Kol jokes.

"I'm just unique, and am thankful everyday that Klaus saved me."

"Now what's this we hear about someone trying to kill you?" Finn asks.

"A little over a month ago, I was nearly blown up after being locked inside a car." I explain.

"So a witch was involved?" Kol questions.

"Yes." Rebekah answers. "The night of the explosion, there was this strange energy in town, all of us vampires could feel something was off."

"How many witches are in town right now?" Kol asks.

"2 and they are Benett witches, but one doesn't have her powers anymore." Klaus answers.

"Bennett witches? Was one of them doing anything that night that could potentially cause that strange enegery?"

"We think someone tricked her in lifting a barrier between the living and the dead because the day after the accident we had ghosts roaming around town." Bekah responds.

"That could explain why someone was targeting Brie, someone from the other side knows about her." Kol assumes.

"So it has to be one of Klaus's enemies." I predict.

"Yeah that list is endless." Kol jokes.

I laugh. "Who might want to really hurt him by killing me?"

"We will have to talk about this later." Elijah chimes in. "I believe the Salvatore Brothers will be here soon."

"Why are we having dinner with them?" Kol complains.

"Because we need to show them how much power we hold. They still don't know that you two are undaggered. Damon was the one that undaggered Elijah, hoping to have him join his side." I explain.

"Side?" Finn questions.

"Look I promise you, I can explain everything that has happened in town later, but we don't have time." I respond, "So for now, can you accept this peace offering and tomorrow, I will tell you everything."

He sighs looking towards his siblings. "Fine."

"You can come on out." Klaus calls out.

The doors open and in walks a good looking red head. Her eyes go wide at seeing Finn. "Finn!" Sage exclaims.

"Sage." He gasps. "What are you doing here?"

"Elijah called me and said you were being awakened."

"Who's idea was this?" He asks the room.

I raise my hand. "It was mine." I confirm. "Klaus told me about Sage, and I thought, it would be nice to have her here, as she is a big part of your life. And it might be easier to play nice with someone you can trust."

Sage smiles warmly at him and Finn hugs her. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it." I shrug. "It's important to have the people we love around us."

After the introductions and the shock of everything has dwindled we mingle in the lounge room drinking away and surprisingly the night is going along great.

I have instantly clicked with Kol and I hold a soft spot for Finn. Ever since Sage arrived he's been more relaxed and has actually participated in conversations.

I hear my phone ringing and pull it out of my pocket. I look at the name on the screen. Caroline. "Hey I'm sorry I've got to take this." I apologise to Kol, Finn and Sage. I walk into an empty hallway. "Hey Care. Where have you been?" I ask into the phone. I hear crying and instantly I know somethings wrong. "Caroline."

"B, b, Brie." She stutters. "My, my dad was attacked and he's dead." She cries.

"OMG." I gasp shocked. "Im coming over, I'll be right there." I say quickly. Klaus hearing this flashes over to me. "Um I need to be with her." I say trying to get my voice.

"Go." He urges. "She needs you."

Rebekah enters the hallway. "Mind if I come?"

"I think she needs all the love she can get, come on." I accept.

Rebekah and I arrive at Caroline's and I knock on the door. Liz answers and smiles at us sadly. "Where is she?" I ask.

"In her room." She answers and we both enter and make our way up the stairs.

We slowly enter her room and it's pitch black. "Care." I whisper.

We hear movement a lamp light turns on. "Hi." She cries.

"Oh care, I'm so sorry." I apologise. "Come here." I say and pull her into a hug as Rebekah climbs in on the other side of her.

"Thanks for coming."

"We wouldn't be anywhere else." Rebekah assures.

"What happened?" I ask combing her hair as we lay with her.

"He was attacked by someone at the hospital, he was having a routine check up and was attacked as he was checking out." She explains.

"We are so sorry Care,"

"He was staked just like the medial examiner." She alerts

"I'm so sorry Care." I apologise again. "We will find out who did this."

"We will." Rebekah agrees.

"Now just sleep, we aren't leaving you."

"Thanks for being here for me." She thanks.

"There is no need to thank me."

"Why don't you close your eyes and rest." Rebekah suggests.

Caroline lays her head down sniffling and we hold her close. "We are here for you." I whisper.
