Queen Aleena:*off-screen* Sometimes, in the fight against tyranny, we find friends in the most unlikely places.
(Ayla's POV)
*It's been a few weeks since our adventures in robot babysitting. Today, we were driving in the van across a desert with crystal formations sticking out the ground. The sun was so bright & it was really hot*
Manic: Dude, talk about the middle of nowhere. Couldn't we have just sent these guys a car?
*He was driving, Sonic was looking over a map, & I was sitting up front next to him*
Sonic: It may not look like much, but the nomads out here have been fighting Buttnik for years. Legend has it the tribe's Chief Ifyoucan was captured by Buttnik, but escaped.
Ayla: Right now, we need anyone who can get away from Buttnik.
*Meanwhile, in the back of the van, Sonia was cooling herself off with a fan & putting on sunscreen, even though we were in the van*
Sonia: Bit how can anyone live in out here? There's no water, no shade, no air conditioned malls, and you go through an awful lot of sunscreen.
*Sonic wiped his forehead with a handkerchief*
Sonic: Whoa. It is toasty. I'm having a meltdown.
Ayla: EW! Don't drip your sweat on me!
*Suddenly, we all heard a beeping sound*
Manic: So's the engine.
*We had to stop. Smoke was coming out of the hood*
Sonic: Uh, Sonia. How much of that sunscreen did you bring?
*We all got out of the van & Manic checked the engine*
Manic: It's no good! I don't have the tools to fix it.
Ayla: Looks like we're walking.
Manic: Great. A million square miles of beach and no ocean! Show me the city. I can't stand all this wide open space! Show me the city!
Sonic: Get over it, bro. Nobody said being in the Resistance was a walk in the park.
Manic: Yeah. But it wasn't supposed to be a hike through the desert either. What could could a bunch of nomads who live in a sand box be to the Freedom Fighters?
*He kicked up some sand, causing Sonia & I to cough*
Ayla: Clearly, you guys haven't met any wolves yet.
*Sonia then noticed a glowing green crystal in the sand & picked it up*
Sonia: Oh, I don't know. It's not all bad. A girl could get used to this place. *suddenly, a laser destroyed the crystal she was holding* Hey!
*Just then, an army of Swat-Bots came running towards us*
Ayla: Swat-Bots!
Sonic: Juice and jam time! Stand back! I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt!
*He was about to zoom towards the bots, but a laser sent him flying*
Sonia: Sonic!
*He landed in a sand dune. Manic & I went to pull him out. He coughed up sand*
Sonic: Is it just me, or are those Swat-Butt's aim getting better?
Ayla: It's not just you. That bot was only 2 inches away from hitting you!
*The Swat-Bots quickly had us surrounded. Suddenly, a group of hooded figures came out of nowhere & started attacking the Swat-Bots. The one in the red hood sliced them in half with his sword. Another hit them with a laser beam*
Manic: Whoa. These guys are good.
*The one in the red hood put away his sword & came up to us*
Ifyoucan: Fortunately for you, we came along. I am Ifyoucan. Chieftain of the Ascan tribe. These are my bodyguards. Amir and Jamal.
Manic: Whoa. Like, this guy needs bodyguard.
Ifyoucan: Come. We must go quickly before Robotnik sends another patrol.
Sonic: Uh, Ifyoucan! Think you can give us a hand with our van?
Ifyoucan: Certainly.
*He snapped his fingers & Jamal pulled out a blue sheet*
*Soon, the van was sailing through the desert, literally, with the blue sheet acting as a sail being pushed by the wind*
Manic: I gotta hand to you guys. This ride's pretty smooth. And the fuel mileage is rocking!
*That night, we arrived at the nomad's camp. We all sat around a fire & watched a girl dance*
Ifyoucan: What brings you here to this dangerous desert?
Ayla: We've heard that your tribe has no love for Robotnik.
Ifyoucan: It is true. Robotnik and the Swat-Bots are our sworn enemies!
Sonic: Well, we're Freedom Fighters and the Resistance needs you you're help against Robotnik.
Ifyoucan: If you are truly an enemy of Robotnik, you must still prove yourselves worthy to be an ally. *Amir & Jamal nodded in agreement* One of you must join our tribe.
*Sonic stood up (surprise, surprise)*
Sonic: Where do I sign up?
*Later, we were all walking through the desert*
Manic:*whispering* Something about Ifyoucan gives me the creeps. I don't trust anybody who hides his face all the time.
Sonic: Get your eyes checked, bro. Did you see how he blasted those bots?
Ayla: I sure did. *in her mind* But I agree with Manic. He's got to be hiding something.
*We stopped at the entrance to a giant pit*
Ifyoucan: Sonic the Hedgehog wishes to join our tribe! *the nomads cheered* But first, he must pass the initiation test!
*I could practically hear my brother gulp*
Sonic: Test? Wait a Mobius minute there. Nobody said anything about a test.
*Amir & Jamal threw their torches into the pit & giant Venus fly traps sprang to life. Sonia & I gasped*
Manic: Oh man . . .
Ifyoucan: To join the tribe, you must defeat the Carla!
*The Venus fly traps were actually the arms of a very ugly green monster*
Sonic: Why did I know you were gonna say that? Back in a Sonic second! *he jumped into the pit & the monster attacked him* Whoa! Now I know how a chili dog feels! *ge zoomed around the side of the pit, dodging the monster's arms. then he jumped high in the air, bounced off the monster's eye, & zoomed around it until it was all tangled up. everyone cheered for his victory* Hey, no biggie.
*We all went back to the camp*
Ifyoucan: Sonic the Hedgehog. You are now a member of the Askan Tribe!
*He was wearing a purple robe*
Sonic: Thanks. I'm honored.
Nomad #1: Three cheers for Sonic!
Nomad #2: Congratulations, Sonic!
*Sonic took out his medallion*
Sonic: I think this calls for a serious jam.
*We all summoned our instruments. As we played a song, the nomads joined in*
*All singing*

Manic: I still don't trust Ifyoucan. First he hides his face, and then he didn't dance when we played.
Sonic: You worry too much, bro.
Sonia: Give it a rest, Manic. If I don't get a good night sleep, my eyes will get puffy!
Manic: You sleep in you want to. I've got a chief to check out.
*He left the tent. I got up & went after him*
Ayla: I'll go with you. The Chief's got my suspicious too.
Manic: Thanks, little sis. *we snuck over to his tent**whispering* Ok, Ifyoucan. Let's see who you really are.
*We saw him standing in the middle of the room. He took off his hood & turned around. Revealing that his face was half robot. We both gasped*
Ayla:*whispering* Roboticized!
Manic:*whispering* Oh no! *we started to head back to our tent* We've got to warn -
*Suddenly, someone grabbed each of us from behind, covering our mouths. We looked up & saw Amir & Jamal*
(Third-Person POV)
*The next morning, Sonic & Sonia were looking for Manic & Ayla*
Sonic: Manic! Ayla!
Sonia: Manic! Ayla! *Sonic zoomed up to her* Any sign of them?
Sonic: Not even a drumstick. And I've been all over camp. *they looked towards Ifyoucan's tent* Manic said he was going to check out Ifyoucan. Maybe we'd better talk to the Chief. *they went inside & found him* Have you seen Manic or Ayla? We've looked all over camp for them.
Ifyoucan: I have not seen your brother or sister. Perhaps they went for a walk and became lost.
Sonic: We'd better go look for them.
Ifyoucan: No. My people will search. The desert is much to dangerous for those who do not know it's ways.
*They left the tent*
Sonic: I got a bad feeling about this. Manic wouldn't just wander off. He hates the desert. And Ayla would have told us where she was going.
Sonia: You're right. It's not like either of them. Maybe Manic was right. There may be more to Ifyoucan then appears.
Sonic: Yeah. I think we'd better find out what he's hiding under that hood.
*They went inside the tent & saw Ifyoucan talking to Amir & Jamal behind a curtain*
Ifyoucan:*off-screen* You did what!?
Jamal:*off-screen* We had no choice. We had to leave them in the desert.
Ifyoucan: Without food or water! Manic and Ayla are the siblings of a member of the tribe! Or did you forget that?
Jamal: But they saw you, Ifyoucan. Of that told the tribe your secret . . .
Amir: You would be an outcast.
*Sonic & Sonia came through the curtain*
Sonic: Time to face the music, Ifyoucan. Where're Manic and Ayla!? *he turned around, revealing his face robot face* Roboticized. I don't get it. You're supposed to be Buttnik's enemy.
Ifyoucan: Robotnik is my enemy. The Roboticizing process malfunctioned. I have my free will. But Robotnik's machine left me . . . Changed. Only Jamal and Amir know my secret. I fear the rest of the tribe would never accept or trust me if they knew the truth. *Sonic was getting impatient as he tapped his foot* Amir and Jamal were only trying to protect me. I am sorry for what they have done to your brother and sister.
Sonic: Hey. Sorry doesn't chill the sauce, know what I mean? We've gotta get them back.
Ifyoucan: Amir and Jamal left them if the Sun Snare Drum.
Sonic: Sun Snare Drum. At least Manic'll feel right at home.
Ifyoucan: No! It is the hottest part of the desert. They will not survive there for long. I will show you the way. We must go quickly!
*They all went outside the tent*
Sonic: I'm waiting! *Ifyoucan climbed on to his back* OW! Watch you're feet. You know I can do this myself.
Ifyoucan: You would never find them alone. Besides, you are a member of the tribe. It is my duty.
*Sonia brought out Manic's hoverboard & Ayla's cube*
Sonia: Take this. Sonic can't carry all three of you.
Ifyoucan: We'd better hurry. The Sun Snare Drum is no place to linger!
Sonic: No prob. Hurry's my middle name!
*Ifyoucan shrieked as Sonic zoomed through the desert*
(Ayla's POV)
*Manic & I walked through the desert, feeling very hot*
Manic: Oh man. I've never seen so much nothing. I'm too cool to be hot.
Ayla: Now I know what's it's like to be inside an oven.
(Third-Person POV)
*Sonic & Ifyoucan zoomed through the desert*
Sonic: How much farther, Chief!?
Ifyoucan: At this speed, not much!
(Ayla's POV)
*Manic & I kept walking, getting hotter by the second*
Manic: I had a bad feeling about this from the beginning.
Ayla: That makes two of us.
*We both collapsed in the sand. Suddenly, a black bird that looked like vulture landed in front of us. Manic threw sand at it*
Manic: Aw, beat it! *the bird fly up, but didn't fly away. it just circled above us* Dude, nobody rang the dinner bell yet.
Ayla: So . . . Thirsty . . .
*We both collapsed again. We then stood up. Just then, Manic had a surprised look on his face*
Manic: Ayla, look! A juice bar!
Ayla: What juice bar? I don't see anything but sand.
Manic: Have it you're way, but I'm getting some lemonade!
*He ran ahead of me*
Ayla: He must be having a mirage. *he jumped up, but landed on his butt in the sand* Called it.
Manic: No fair, dude. All I wanted was a glass of lemonade.
*I went up to him & helped him stand up*
Ayla: Come on. Let's keep moving.
*We walked a little further before we both passed out from the heat*
(Third-Person POV)
*A few minutes later, Sonic & Ifyoucan ran up to the unconscious Manic & Ayla*
Sonic: Manic! Ayla! *he turned them both on their backs* Are you alright?
(Ayla's POV)
*I opened my eyes & saw Sonic & Ifyoucan above us*
Manic: Water . . .
Ayla: Water, please . . .
*Ifyoucan handed Sonic a sack*
Sonic: Drink this, guys.
*We each took a drink from the sack*
Manic: Hmm. That's the wettest water I've ever tasted.
Ayla: Water has never tasted so good. Thanks, Sonic.
Sonic: Think you guys can ride your hoverboards?
Manic: Does a Swat-Bot need oiling?
*He & I both tried to stand up, but felt dizzy*
Ayla: Ooh . . . Probably not.
*Suddenly, we all saw a sand storm coming towards us*
Sonic: You'll have to try. We gotta hall-haunch outta here!
*Ifyoucan handed me & Manic our hoverboards*
Manic: Hey, don't you work for Robotnik?
Ayla: Manic! Now's not the time to point fingers!
Sonic: And besides, he's on our side. Always has been. He led me out here to save you're sorry butts.
Ayla: Gee thanks.
*Ifyoucan climbed on Sonic's back*
Sonic: Now unless you'd rather be sand blasted, let's haul!
*Manic & I got on our boards & we zoomed outta there with the storm behind us*
*It was night when we got back to the camp. But no one was there*
Manic: What? No reception committee?
Ifyoucan: Amir? Jamal?
Ayla: Sonia? Where are you?
Ifyoucan: Where are my people?
Sonic: I don't like the looks of this. Something's wrong.
Ayla: Very wrong.
*We went to one of the tents & found Sonia inside. Tied up & gagged. Along with a bunch of the nomads
Sonic: Sonia!
*Sonic was about to in, but I stopped him*
Ayla: Hold up, Sonic. Something doesn't feel right about this.
*I picked up a rock & threw it across the room. It hit something behind a curtain*
Dingo:*off-screen* OW!
Sleet:*off-screen* Quiet, you dolt!
Ayla: I knew it. It's a trap set up by Sleet and Dingo!
Sleet:*off-screen* Grrrr! *he & Dingo came out from behind a curtain**on-screen* Give up, Sonic. I can't believe I've bagged you this time.
Sonic: No way, Sleet. Just watch my feet!
*He zoomed up to a beam & sawed through it with his spin dash. It caused the whole tent to fall on them*
Dingo: Where'd they go?
Sleet: Oh shut up.
Ifyoucan: This way! Hurry!
*We all got out from under the tent & ran into the camp, but a Swat-Bot fired lasers at us. Many of the nomads ran as the bots fired at them. Sonic & I summoned our instruments*
Sonic: All right. Time to juice em and reduce em!
Ayla: Let's rock 'n roll!
*Ifyoucan got out his sword & Sonia kicked one of the bots in the face, causing it to explode*
Sonia: I guess Buttnik should've sand proofed ya.
*The nomads started to fight back against the bots. Sonic & I hit them with lasers & sonic blasts. Manic was cornered by some of the bots*
Manic: Take it easy, fellas. Can't we just talk this over? *he stopped when he saw that he was at the edge of the Carla's put* Uh-oh. *one of it's arms shot up our of the pit* Whoa! *The arms grabbed the bots & the Carla ate them* Whew! That was close. *he was about to make his way back to camp, but one of the arms grabbed him* Hey! *the arm pulled him towards the pit* Great. Guess I'm the dessert!
*Suddenly, a laser hit the arm & he got free. It was Amir & Jamal. Meanwhile, Sleet & Dingo were trying to sneak out of the camp*
Sleet: See? I told you it was this way.
*Dingo turning around & gasped in fright*
Dingo: Uh, Sleet? *Sleet turned around & saw the namads glaring at them* Maybe we should've stayed in the tent!
*The nomads chased them out of the camp*
*Later, Manic had just finished fixing the van*
Manic: Thank Jamal. That oughta do it.
Ifyoucan: Sonic, we want to thank you and your siblings for your help. After yesterday, Robotnik should not trouble us for quite a while.
Sonic: Hey. We couldn't have done it without you.
Ayla: That's right. It was a team effort.
Ifyoucan: And I apologize for the way your brother and sister were treated.
Manic: Hey chill of you can. No harm done.
*He took out Jamal's hand & gave it a high-five. Jamal looked confused*
Ayla:*whispering* It's how we greet out friends back home.
Ifyoucan: I take responsibility. I no longer deserve to be Chief. I have deceived you. *he took off his hood & the tribe gasped* By the tribe's law, I will go now to wander the desert as an outcast. You must elect a new Chief. Sonic, as newest member of the tribe, you must cast the first vote.
Sonic: I choose . . . Ifyoucan.
*Everyone cheered Ifyoucan's name, even me*
Ifyoucan: But my robot parts. They are -
Sonic: Hey, do you lead with your body or your mind?
Ayla: You're a great leader, no matter what you look like.
Ifyoucan: Yes!
*We all cheered his name again"
*We decided to put on a goodbye concert for our new friends*
*Ayla singing*
