Chapter 48: The Tale of Two Brothers

Returning back to school last week was something I was looking forward to, but once the college entrance exams were brought up, I groaned at the thought of how much studying I needed to do. As I began to get ready for the day ahead of me, the thought of the education system just made me want to wish that I was done with school. Who am I kidding. I have a love-hate relationship with the education system.

Placing my hair into a low bun and making sure that everything in my morning routine was done, I made my way downstairs with my bag in one hand and my shoes in the other. The smell of eggs was in the air as I entered the kitchen where I saw my whole family there just about ready to eat.

"Ohayo," I greeted as I took a seat and placed my stuff on the ground.

"Ohayo."

"I'm surprised you're actually up and made it in time for breakfast," Kazumi pointed at me with her chopsticks.

"Seriously," Fuka muttered.

"I woke up before my alarm. I'm just as surprised as you are," I told them as I watched otou-san serve each of us our breakfast.

We all thanked otou-san before we began to eat our meal. It was silent for a moment during breakfast, but then conversations began when otou-san asked whether we had afterschool activities. Fuka stated that she was going to be working on a project, Kazumi said she had a study group, and I had Host Club activities as per usual.

"How are you still in that club? Isn't it targeted towards girls?" Kazumi asked.

"I help girls with stuff and sometimes we do open up for guys as well."

"As long as Setsuna is having a fun high school experience that doesn't involve anything illegal or inappropriate, then I am okay with it," Otou-san told us after taking a sip of his coffee.

"What illegal and inappropriate things would I be doing?"

"Skipping school, stealing, joining the yakuza, getting preg-"

"I got it, otou-san."

Breakfast was soon finished and we were taken to school by Kazumi since her class didn't start until an hour later than our scheduled class time. We waved goodbye after she dropped us off and watched her drive off. Fuka and I made our way towards the entrance of the campus where we would be going our separate ways. As soon as I headed towards the direction of my class, my name was called out.

"Setsuna-senpai! Ohayo!" Tamaki greeted as approached me.

"Ohayo, Tamaki!" I smiled at him. "What's up?"

"We are going to have a club meeting right now. Everyone is there already," he steered me towards the direction of the club room.

"Oh, about what?"

"About future events. Kyoya wants to start budgeting everything."

Of course he would. The Shadow King likes making sure we have money and whatnot. As we made our way towards the Music Room, we were just discussing various themes that would help the club gain profit. I mentioned to him that maybe we should host a fundraiser to help raise money for a charity since we are popular. He thought it was a great idea. Once we stepped into the Third Music Room, everyone was doing what they normally did before every club meeting. Hikaru and Kaoru were pestering Haruhi. Kyoya was sitting down with his black notebook. No doubt calculating and budgeting all club activities and food. Takashi and Hunny were just chatting. Well, it was more like Hunny was doing all the talking and Takashi was nodding his head.

"Morning," I greeted.

A chorus of replies were sent my way. I walked towards my fellow seniors and sat down next to Takashi as I gave him a smile who in return kissed my forehead as a form of greeting.

"Now that we all are now here, let's get this meeting started," Kyoya began, "Hikaru, Kaoru, how are the costumes?"

"They are going pretty well," Kaoru simply said. "We just need to have you all try them on to see whether we need to make any changes."

"We brought everything with us," Hikaru continued. "You all can try them on right now and see how they fit."

"That's a good idea!" Tamaki cheered. "In that case, Ha-"

"Setsuna-senpai, you're first!" The two interrupted Tamaki.

I grumbled and stood up to follow the two hellions in front of me. The two were saying how great they created the costume and that they did two different versions. They kept mentioning that there was going to be a vote to see which one I would be wearing. I already have a bad feeling about this. They pushed me into what was considered my dressing room and there I found two bags. One was white, the other was black.

I closed the curtain and asked, "Which bag do I try on first?"

"The black one!" The Twins shouted.

I sighed and pulled the zipper out of the bag. Inside I found Usagi's middle school uniform. I sighed in relief and began to undress. The first thing that I had pulled out was the knee high blue skirt that had a blue bow attached to the back. I grabbed the long sleeved uniform top that already had the transformation broach from Sailor Moon attached. I looked at myself in the mirror, feeling like the magical girl that was Usagi Tsukino, and just grinned.

"Hey, Hikaru, Kaoru," I called out walking towards the main room. "This fits pretty well. I don't think any alterations need to be made."

Their conversation was paused as all eyes turned towards me instantly. I should be used to this attention, but I still blushed. Calm down, face!

Haruhi was the first one to say something, "Wow, Suna-chan. You look great!"

"I kind of wish this was our school uniform. I would wear this instead of those duck dresses," I made my way towards the others so that the Twins can get a good look to see whether any alterations had to be done.

"Everything appears to be in order," Hikaru circled around me.

"Go on and get changed. Classes are about to start in a bit," Kaoru gave me a light push back toward the direction of the dressing rooms.

"Ah, got it!"

Phew.

Everyone was beginning to gather all of their belongings and was making their way out of the room as soon as I got back from the dressing rooms. Takashi handed my bag to me and we followed the rest of our friends out of the door. Kyoya then began to say that the club wouldn't be open today on account that costumes still need to be tried on and discussions still had to be held for future events. I need to remind myself to bring up the topic of hosting a fundraiser for a charity.

The day seemed to breeze by and before I knew it, it was already after school. Hunny ran ahead of us and made his way towards the third music room, shouting about cake and whatnot. This gave Takashi and I our private time together as he held his hand out. I took his hand and he began to lead me out of the classroom.

"I can't wait to see you try on your next costume," Takashi brought up as we walked up the staircase that leads towards the music room.

I blushed, "Is it because of the short skirt?"

"Maybe."

"Takashi, you perv."

He stopped, pulled me towards his chest and quickly gave me a kiss on the lips.

"Only with you," he whispered in my ear after.

I blushed even more and just hit him on the chest causing him to chuckle. This man is going to be the end of me. When we finally reached the club room, he opened the door allowing me in first. Such a gentleman. Everyone was there, minus Haruhi, probably on another coffee run.

"Setsuna-senpai!"

'Well, crap.'

The Twins quickly grabbed a hold of me and dragged me towards the dressing rooms. With a quick shove into the dressing room that I was in earlier that morning, I was face to face with the white bag. I sighed while I undid my hair bun. On the floor was a box that I had the feeling held the boots that I would be needing as well.

"Let me guess, I have to try it on now?"

"Yup!" The two shouted from behind the curtains. "Get to it and meet us outside when you're done."

"Do I have to try on the accessories?" I questioned and asked as I began to unzip the bag.

"Just wear the gloves," Kaoru spoke as his hand poked through between the curtains, gloves in hand.

"For sure. I'll be out in a bit," I told them as I grabbed the gloves and began to remove my shoes.

"Hurry! Hurry!" Hikaru exclaimed.

Just like that, the two were finally out of the dressing rooms. I sighed and did what I needed to do. As much as I love Sailor Moon's senshi uniform, I was a little uneasy with the length of the skirt. I mean sure I have worn shorts that were close to that length, but the difference is that my butt is covered. No one is going to attempt to flip shorts up to see your underwear. It's impossible! But with a skirt, you're constantly at risk of a breeze going right past you or it being lifted up, whether it be an accident or not. As I was dressing, I could swear that I was hearing things. It sounded like people shouting, things being thrown, and a motor running. Super weird. Once dressed, I was already feeling like the "Pretty Guardian in a Sailor Suit."

"Hey, Hikaru, Kaoru, can we do something about this skirt? I mean doesn't it seem too..," my voiced faded out as soon as I walked into the main room. "What did I just miss?"

Eight pairs of eyes turned towards my direction and one of them belonged to a middle school student whose pants were pinned to the ground.

"Oh hi, Yasuchika. Fancy seeing you here with sharp knives keeping you footed down," I awkwardly waved. "Well, I'm just gonna go get changed now."

"No need, Setsuna-senpai!"

Of course.

While Yasuchika was easily removing the kunai looking knives, I was stuck with the Little Devil types. Honestly, can't I ever catch a break with these two? The universe answered with a no as they began to prod and measure the costume on me. All of a sudden, the door swung open.

"Yasuchika! No skipping out on club!" With a shinai, Satoshi swung at Yasuchika.

Haruhi turned to look at me and just gave me a shocked look. I nodded my head in understanding. Today is just crazy.

"Satoshi," Takashi called to his brother.

"Ah! Taka!"

Satoshi jumped over the fallen form of Yasuchika and made his way towards his brother. Hunny, on the other, ran towards his fallen brother, crying out his name.

"How are you doing? Are coming to kendo club today? I'm on my way there!" He spoke with a sparkle surrounding him. He then turned to look at me and waved, "Hi, Setsuna-senpai! Nice outfit! It looks great on you!"

I just waved with a slight look of embarrassment since I was still being prodded by Hikaru and Kaoru. I have no freedom here.

Yasuchika finally gained back conscious, no thanks to Satoshi, and was now sitting next to him on one of our many couches. Where they come from, I have no idea. Tamaki began to [dramatically] explain the event that occurred before the middle schooler decided to rampage and attack his own cousin.

"Oh, so he had business with Mitsukuni, then? Here I was, tearing around thinking he was skipping club!" Satoshi laughed with a slight blush. He turned to look at his cousin, "Sorry, Yasuchika! My mistake!"

We all stood around the couch the two were sitting on. As Kaoru adjusted the bow on the back of my outfit, I just keep looking at the two sets of family members. Even though I have met Satoshi and Yasuchika before, it just creeps me out how alike the look to their siblings yet have completely different personalities. I turned to look at Haruhi and saw her observing them as well. This was her first time meeting the two and learning about their existence. She must be calculating the same thing too.

"Sorry for causing such an uproar," Satoshi said to all of us. "Ah! This tea! And cake! They're delicious!"

Hunny tried giving some of his brother as well, "Would you like some cake too, Yasuchika?"

"I hate sweets," he replied bored.

Satoshi froze on the spot and in a split second his shinai reappeared.

"Don't be rude to our senpai's."

"Satoshi, it's okay. Go easy on him," Tamaki prompted.

"No! We can't afford to spoil him. We Morinozuka have served the Haninozukas for generations. I must be strict on this matter. I cannot allow Yasuchika to grow soft! I'm doing this for his benefit!"

Loyal Heart. Raging Blood. Samurai Spirit.

Hikaru and Kaoru finally released me, making their way to Hunny, "Excuse me, but what about the big softie over here - The Haninozuka Heir apparent?"

"I don't worry about Mitsukuni. I know whatever Taka does for Hunny's preparations will be flawless."

Matter-of-fact.

Now that I am free from their hold, I tried making my way back towards the dressing rooms. Did I make it? No. Takashi managed to grab my arm and pull me right next to him. Did I mind? No. The Twins released Hunny and gathered around Haruhi, Tamaki, and Kyoya while Satoshi continued his passionate speech.

"Taka is the pride of the Morinozuka. He's stronger and gentler than any soul, and yet never boastful. He's utterly selfless and silent!"

Hikaru loudly whispered, "And here I thought Mori just didn't have anything to say."

"I figured he was just dwelling on his next meal," Kaoru whispered as well.

"Besides, I have this notion, Taka might just be the last living samurai in Japan," Satoshi abruptly interrupted them.

I looked up at Takashi," Samurai, eh? Satoshi really does think highly of you."

In the background shouts of tea tasting delicious was heard, but I could only focus on the soft smile that Takashi had. He's a precious human being. He placed his arms around my shoulders pulling me in more. I placed my arm around his waist just to be a tad more closer. I'm so glad that the summer uniform didn't require the usual blazer.

"Let me be clear, a freak like Mitsukuni could never be the head of the Haninozuka family. I came here to talk to you about something, brother. I heard that last week, at the request of the Karate Club, you attended a join training session with Ohyama High," Yasuchika spoke directly to his brother, ignoring all who were in the room.

"Ohyama," Kyoya thought. "Last year, they were the first in the nation."

"Yeah! We dropped by to watch them practice together. Right, tono?" Hikaru and Kaoru stated.

"Yeah! It was incredible! Hunny faced an entire squad of skilled masters. He picked them up and flung them away, one by one," Tamaki spoke with excitement.

"Tono, no, that's not how karate works. What were you watching?"

"They have lots of big strong boys! It was fun!" Hunny informed us.

"How could...How could you be so irresponsible?! Didn't you quit the Karate Club more than a year ago?! Although the Haninozuka family is part of the nobility, we have always been particularly skilled at martial arts, absorbing various martial arts to create our own unique fighting style," Yasuchika spoke to us all. "Therefore, away from home, males of the Haninozuka family learn karate and judo, but back home we train hard in the Haninozuka style; we were taught to not let out guards down at any moment, and when disciples of the same clan meet away from home, we must engage in battle with each other at once."

'Well ain't that something,' I sweat-dropped as I was listening to the conversation. For once I am certainly glad that I wasn't born a male.

"Certainly you're strong, brother, but the Haninozuka martial arts technique is based on the resistance of innate selfishness. You no longer practice self-control, and you choose to degrade yourself. That gives you no right to represent the Haninozuka. And you helped out the Karate Club for the fun of it! That was way out of line! Please stop tarnishing the Haninozuka name!"

Once again, the shinai appeared. Thanks Satoshi.

"Is that any way to talk to your brother?" Satoshi grabbed Yasuchika's face, pulling it to cause pain.

"Owww! Hey! Cut it out! Stupid Satoshi!"

"You're the one in the wrong here. Why are you so angry?"

From my point of view, it looked as though Yasuchika was ready to cry. Did he feel bad for saying all those mean things to Hunny? Or was he in pain after Satoshi literally beat him up? We all stared at him and he suddenly turned to look at us. He panicked and looked away quickly, wiping his eyes.

"Anyway, you heard me, Mitsukuni! And just like always, you keep away from me at school!"

"What was that, Yasuchika?! You rude git! Get back here!"

And just like that, the two were gone.

"Hunny," Haruhi made her way to my fellow senior.

"Oh, it's okay. It's my fault anyway. But, I really think Chika really hates me now," he calmly replied.

Not wanting him to feel anymore sadder, I called out, "Hunny, there's some cake leftover."

"I'll eat it!" He shouted and ran towards Takashi and I.

Hunny immediately sat himself down in front of the table and just went crazy. Takashi and I sat in front of him with a small smile. Hunny looked up from his plate and smiled back, right before offering me a slice of chocolate cake. We, and by "we" I mean Hunny and I, ate our cake as we listened in on the conversation that was continuing.

"Hunny-senpai, you were formerly part of the karate club, huh?" Haruhi asked him. "I didn't know. Why did you quit it to come to something like the host club?"

"What do you mean, 'something like the host club'? What do you mean, huh?" Tamaki grumbled.

"Because no matter how you think about it, the karate club is a much more legitimate club," Haruhi retorted back.

And of course, Tamaki screamed and went to face the wall.

"To know why," Hikaru moved towards Haruhi.

"You'd need to dig a bit into the past," Kaoru continued his brother's sentence.

"Long before the Host Club was established."

"There was the legend of 'Hunny-senpai, the Spartan Captain' that we'll tell you about now."

"Spartan Captain?" I questioned and turned towards Takashi. He nodded his head.

Hunny-senpai's Karate Club Spartan Captain Legend

Well this is going to be interesting. As Hikaru and Kaoru spoke, they were saying that Hunny was very talented and ready to be considered to be the captain of the karate club. Even though he was ready, people at his family dojo were stating that even if he was growing, his stature was small and that it would be a problem if the next master was that small. His father apparently told him that he had to be more stricter upon himself and get rid of any weakness and naivety completely. He had to do all of that so that he can get this "true strength" that he needed.

"And then Hunny-senpai tried his best. And very hard, indeed," Tamaki continued. The Twins just nodded their heads in agreement.

"He must've learned a lot of martial arts," Haruhi concluded.

"No!" Both Twins and Tamaki stated.

"Not that. He became aware of what people had to say of him and obeyed his father's ordered," Tamaki went on. "By sealing away his cute goods one by one. After that, he tried very hard to achieve the image of a 'bold man.' However, it was obvious to everyone that he was trying too hard. And this lovely yet pitiful form of his staying away from his favorite things lit flames in the moe hearts of these female students, and in the end, a fan club of his was formed."

"Hunny was that popular even before he joined the Host Club?" I whispered to Takashi.

"He was," Takashi whispered back.

"Wow, that's pretty cool."

"So what does this have to do with the Karate Club Spartan Captain legend?" Haruhi asked.

"Well," Hikaru and Kaoru gravitated towards her direction.

The story continued on saying that those who were in the Karate Club would try and be polite Hunny about him being manly and strict. They were the ones who began calling him the "Spartan Captain." He obviously took the comments with adoration.

"What a tearful story!" The two hellions cried.

"Tearful, eh?" Haruhi spoke bluntly. "Are you supposed to cry there? And what happened in the end?"

Apparently one day, Tamaki had appeared with a rabbit hand puppet and attracted Hunny towards him. Hunny liking cute little thing followed him. Then and there, Tamaki asked Hunny if he was interested in joining the Host Club. He mentioned all the things that were part of the club and what won him over were all the cute things, sweets, and obviously the cakes. Also it helped that Tamaki spoke to him about being true to oneself and enjoying the things you liked. After that confrontation, Hunny went to speak with his otou-san about true strength. His father had a match with him and well, Hunny won.

"I think Hunny-senpai's martial arts skills back then were already as complete as his skills right now," Tamaki spoke. "Right?"

"Ehe!" Hunny agreed, finishing off his last piece of cake.

"Rumor had it that the person who happened to be the referee for that match was the Director-General for the Defense Department. He asked of Hunny-senpai to never fight with one hundred percent force in the public."

"Why?" I asked out of curiosity.

"If Hunny-senpai's true powers were to be shown in the public, our country would be suspected of hiding weapons of mass destruction, and there would be fears of us being victimized by showers of missiles from the U.N.."

"How scary!" The twins shouted.

I turned to look at Haruhi and gave her a look. She gave me one as well.

"And this, Hunny-senpai quit the Karate Club," Hikaru began to finish the tale.

"And came over to the Host Club," Kaoru finished.

"Well, the scale of Hunny-senpai's unconventionality is probably something not even the Haninozuka clan could contain."

"Against this, Chika, the younger brother, grew up in the strict fashion of the Haninozuka family."

"But now, Chika-chan hates me completely," Hunny sadly said.

"He'd never hate you, Hunny. He's your brother," I looked up at him.

"Okay, my fellow subjects!" Tamaki burst out loud. "We will now commence the great 'Haninozuka Brothers Get-Together' battle plan!"

"Ohh!" The Twins agreed.

"Does he really have a plan for all these random situations? I mean, where does he get them?" I murmured. Takashi slightly shrugged.

"I knew he'd say that," Haruhi looked with such disdain.

Here we go again.

I stood from my seat and stretched, "May I finally go and change out of this?"

The door to our club room opened again, this time I was doomed.

"Hey Setsuna-nee," Fuka entered the doors, not looking at me yet. "I came to see if you wanted to walk home together? I finished-"

She paused and just stared at me. The room stood quietly as they watched our stare down.

"Why are you in costume, that's short, in a room full of males? I'm telling otou-san," Fuka stated before running out.

"Fuka! No!"

Send help. Please.

Author's Note:

Hello all. Well, it's good to be back after a long period of absence. Let's get straight as to why I haven't written in all these years. The last time this story was updated was on September of 2014. For a while I was in a funk of because of how things were going in my life. I wasn't where I wanted to be career-wise and education-wise. I wanted to get my Masters and I was hoping to have had a better job. Then came December of that year. I began feeling pain on my lower back. It got to the point where I struggled to get out of bed and had trouble doing so many things, like walking. It got to the point where I ended up going to the ER to see what was wrong. I had re-torn my lower back muscles to the point where my spine shifted to avoid major pain. It was so bad. Not only that, but I was finally diagnosed with anxiety. My anxiety kept causing me to freak out and cause even more muscle pain. I was on so much medication and was doing physical therapy to help with this pain. Finally in February of 2015, I was deemed able to go back to work. Yet I had to still be careful. I learned that medication for my anxiety was also a no go. I felt like a zombie. As the year continued, I still was careful about my back. My family along with a few friends of ours went to Las Vegas for Memorial day weekend that same year. What happened? I sprained my ankle. It looked so bad. And yet I still walked around Las Vegas with it. I didn't go see a doctor for that until a month later. I'm terrible. Fast forward to July, my grandfather had passed away back in Guatemala. Then in August, my dog had to have surgery because we found a tumor. It went well. Come November, my great-grandmother passed away in her sleep. Finally, December, the same day of my great-grandmother's viewing, my sweet dog had to be put down because the tumor had apparently spread to her heart and lungs. She only had a few days left. We decided it was better for her to not suffer anymore. 2016 was filled with anxiety and depression, though it didn't look like it to others, I was hurting inside. February 2017, we were kicked out of our house and we had to find a new one. We managed to find a three bedroom. But we are barely making it by with rent. All of this just made me not have the motivation to write anymore. Even with all those lovely reviews and messages that I received, I didn't have the heart to write. I turned to reading more booksand music to help me be in the reality that I am in. Finally, after wanting to own the series for years, I bought the entire Ouran High School Host Club manga. It took me a while to read, thanks to life, but once I finally finished the series, I missed writing for it. I missed all of the beloved characters. I finally decided to write. I'm not writing this for you to feel bad about what I went through. Life happens and you learn from it. You learn about yourself. I am now trying to commit to keep writing so I can feel a part of my old self, the one who dreamed of being a writer, to come back. So I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. It's not much, but thank you for reading it. From now on, my writing for "Just Wait and See" will contain content from both the manga and the anime. Thank you all and Happy Holidays.
