Hey you guys. I'm afraid I have some bad news. Due to some unfortunate events that I'd really rather not talk about I have to discontinue this story I'm really quite sad about it. I really like this story and I had some really great ideas for it. So since I won't be able to finish it I've decided to let you all know what happened with some cliffnotes. They pick up where the last chapter left off.
Jack participates in a Quiditch game against Ravenclaw and wins. (yayyyyy!)
They continue to train with Simpion in the Dark Forest.
Merida grows increasingly close to Lady Whitewind and finds that being near her improves her archery skills, allowing her to hit the acorn.
One night, as Jack is studying the map he notices Nicholas entering the dungeons where an unknown man is waiting.
The Big Four sneak along to investigate and find that he is the 'leader' of the werewolves.
Nicholas releases him.
The werewolf tries to flee to the forest, but Simpion and Lady Whitewind stop him.
Merida, Rapunzel, and Hiccup assist in the battle while Jack goes to face Nicholas, determined to prove himself against his father.
In the battle Merida is left defenseless against the werewolf while Rapunzel, Simpion, and Lady Whitewind are too far away to help.
Hiccup jumps in the way at the last moment and gets bitten.
They defeat the werewolf, but Hiccup is left disabled and infected.(looses his foot just like in the movie!)
In the dungeon Jack faces Nicholas.
He confronts his father for the first time, letting him know that Jack knows and accusing him of being the master.
Nicholas tries to defend himself, but Jack is blinded by anger and resentment.
He tries to fight him, but Nicholas breaks his wand.
Alex arrives.
He fights Nicholas himself, forcing Jack to leave.
Jack finds his friends in the hospital wing, horrified at hearing that Hiccup will now be transforming every full moon.
Alex arrives and calls the school together.
He announces that a great evil has left the school and congratulates them for discovering it.
After a few days of getting bombarded by their schoolmates they are visited by the Minister of Magic who awards them with galleons and medals.
He seems to act strange around Rapunzel and keeps asking if they've met before.
Hiccup's condition is kept a secret, but everyone marvels at his battle wound. A missing foot.
Alex is announced Headmaster and officially adopts Jack.
The school year ends with no house winning the cup, instead it is shared by all four in honor of Hiccup, Jack, Rapunzel, and Merida.
Before he leaves, Alex gives Jack the small black stone he threw away, telling him it's enchanted and will protect him.
Jack is forced to use his mysterious staff now that his wand is broken.
Year Three
The Big Four arrive at Hiccup's house to finish the summer together.
Rapunzel reveals that her hair has begun to glow when she sings a special song.
Merida is reminded of her vision and realizes that the song is Rapunzel's mysterious Christmas gift.
The buy their school items together and run into a few school friends.
Liam still shows interest in Rapunzel, igniting Jack's jealousy.
He acts rather roughly, resulting in a fight with Rapunzel.
They return to school on shaky grounds.
As soon as possible they visit Lady Whitewind and Simpion to discuss Hiccup.
With their help Merida, Jack, and Rapunzel transform themselves into animanguses.
Merida becomes a black panther with her same sky blue eyes. Jack is a white wolf with his ice blue eyes. Rapunzel is a golden barn owl with her round green eyes and unusually long tail feathers.
They attend classes, trying their best at a normal school year.
Liam and Rapunzel show interest in each other, while Pally begins to show interest in Hiccup.
Merida and Jack watch in annoyance as their friends grow farther apart.
For the first cycle they are brought back together as they struggle to keep Hiccup out of trouble.
Jack and Merida keep him under control while Rapunzel flies over to keep watch for any unwanted company.
Toothless accepts the werewolf form of Hiccup and they form a tight bond yet again.
As the cycle ends Rapunzel and Hiccup return to their 'friends.'
Liam and Rapunzel begin dating, while Hiccup and Pally begin dating.
Merida is crestfallen, but struggles to hide it. Jack is furious.
One day Merida disappears, only to return with dark eyes and an odd attitude.
After speaking with Simpion and Lady Whitewind Jack, Hiccup, and Rapunzel kidnap her and drag her into the forest.
Simpion decides she has been abducted by another 'shadow' and is under his influence.
With Lady Whitewind's help, the three friends manage to break her free of his grasp and happily embrace.
They return to training every night with the realization the master is still out there.
Liam and Rapunzel go on their first date while Hiccup and Pally spend a free day together.
Hiccup discovers he doesn't like Pally as much as he thought, while Rapunzel begins to fall for Liam.
Angry with himself and Liam Jack tries to avoid Rapunzel and spends his time with either Merida, Alex, or on the Quiditch field.
During the next cycle the three animanguses argue and bicker, almost getting Hiccup caught due to their lack of caution and focus.
Hiccup breaks up with Pally, trying to mend the bond in their friendships. Rapunzel only grows closer to Liam.
He seems to have fallen in love with her, but Rapunzel still has feelings for Jack.
The next Quiditch game is Gryffindor versus Slytherin.
Gryffindor wins, due to Liam, the new seeker, catching the snitch before Jack.
He pulls Rapunzel on his broom and flys in several victory laps, only angering Jack further.
Ready to hurt something Jack finds an abandoned room to calm down.
Alex finds him and starts to talk to him about being angry and jealous and how he should react.
His advice sounds odd to Jack and he realizes that Alex is encouraging him to retaliate.
Confused, he tells Alex that's wrong, he doesn't want to hurt Rapunzel.
Alex pulls the stone out of Jack pocket and uses his wand to make it into a necklace. He says 'it's time' and places the necklace around his neck.
Jack's senses fail and he loses control.
Merida and Hiccup meet in the old office room to discuss the matter of the master.
While they wait for Jack (Rapunzel is on a date with Liam) Alex arrives.
He begins to talk of Nicholas and how he was a foolish man.
Hiccup asks what he means and Alex says he didn't realize there was a monster in the school.
He pulls in Jack, now under a curse, a complete slave to Alex's wishes.
Merida and Hiccup realize Alex is the true master and prepare to fight him.
He freezes them and informs them that the Minister is his servant too, they would find no help from anyone besides themselves.
They realize they can't beat him and let him go.
They tell Rapunzel when she returns then go find Simpion.
Rapunzel blames herself and forces herself to break up with Liam who is truly heartbroken.
She tries to talk to Jack, but he is a new person and only responds to her in cruel ways.
Alex arrives and blames Rapunzel for Jack's current state.
She runs to meet Hiccup and Merida in the Dark Forest.
Simpion and Lady Whitewind are deeply disturbed and offer no help to the young ones, too troubled to think straight.
During the last cycle Hiccup attacks Merida now that Jack isn't there to help her.
Toothless jumps in and saves Merida.
When he returns to normal Hiccup has no memory of it and Rapunzel and Merida decide not to tell him.
They return home at the end of school year, feeling more lost and confused than ever.
They never tell their parents, unsure if they would believe them.
Rapunzel notices her mother posses a familiar black necklace.
Year Four
Alex has replaced nearly all the teachers with his own personal colleagues, only Professor Starling, Gossel, Mr. Cinders, and of course Drake remain.
He announces that the year will be different from others and proposes a new tournament to be played out, involving four members of each house, voted on from their own housemates.
After a day of voting it is announced that Merida, Blake, and two unknown Gryffindors have been chosen. From Ravenclaw comes Hiccup, Gowthur, and two other unknown Ravenclaws. From Slytherin is Jasper, Bounder, and two others. Rapunzel is spared from the Hufflepuff four.
The first task is revealed to be mermaid hunting.
Along with normal classes, Merida and Hiccup train for their task, unsure of what to do.
Simpion, Lady Whitewind, and Rapunzel help them the best they can, but in the task it's only them.
On the day of the task Merida comes face to face with Mackerel. She is forced to kill her when Mackerel refuses to listen to reason.
Hiccup murders another mermaid by accident then finds himself face to face with king Hydro.
With some assistance from Merida, Blake, and Bounder they manage to defeat him. There is no joy in their victory.
Alex announces Merida as the winner of this task and spares Gryffindor and several of his followers from his 'punishment.'
The other houses are tortured by the teachers with unmentionable spells.
Weakened by so many events, Hiccup doesn't do much during his cycle, giving Merida and Rapunzel time to relax.
They begin to practice with Simpion in their animal form, learning to fight that way too.
The next task is announced to be unicorn hunting.
They force Lady Whitewind to leave and train with just Simpion.
Rapunzel tries to talk to Jack again, but he acts just as rude as before.
During the next task Merida and Hiccup do their best to stay out of the way. They work hard to make it difficult for the other students, hoping to save the unicorns.
In the end Jasper manages to kill an unknown unicorn and the task ends.
This time Slytherin is spared from the punishment. Merida, Rapunzel, and Hiccup face the pain together.
A few days later Alex suggests practicing unforgivable curses on the younger students at supper.
Merida refuses. Hiccup stands by her side, as does Rapunzel. Bounder, Blake, Tess, Dorian, Ellen, Marry, Pally, Mason, and surprisingly Jasper, Gabby, Gowthur, and Deb stand with them. A few older students join them as well.
Alex sends them to the dungeon to be subjected to the curses there.
On the way Merida transforms into a panther and fights off the teachers taking them there.
Rapunzel flies overhead, looking for someplace for them to hide. She finds one and everyone rushes inside.
They realize they've found the room of requirement and have pretty much disappeared from the teachers.
Merida, Hiccup, and Rapunzel explain all that they know and how they plan on fighting back. Everyone joins them, deciding to stand up for what's right.
In secret, they begin to have training sessions in the room of requirement with the other students.
Using a tunnel the room created, Simpion and Lady Whitewind are able to join them, assisting in the training of magic and physical strength.
Enraged by their resistance, Alex decided the third task is to hunt down the mysterious Night Fury living in the forest and kill it.
He sets it at night, during Hiccup's cycle.
With Blake and Bounder's help Merida keeps an eye on Hiccup, making sure he doesn't harm Toothless.
Towards the end of the night Hiccup stumbles across his dragon buddy and another student.
Confused, Hiccup jumps into the fight.
Merida manages to save the student by turning into a panther and fighting Hiccup herself. Toothless helps her again and the task ends without anyone a winner.
Alex doesn't punish them, he says the next task will be punishment enough.
They continue to train while Rapunzel tries to bring Jack back.
Hiccup writes a note to his father and sends it by his owl.
Jack lets it slip that Alex checks the letters that leave.
Hiccup rewrites his letter and gives it to Rapunzel who sneaks into the forest and gives it to Toothless.
After several weeks Nicholas announces the final task. The competitors will be placed in an arena in front of the whole school and forced to fight to the death. (He's read the Hunger Games too many times :P)
Merida, Hiccup, and Rapunzel meet before the task starts.
They hug and assure each other how much they love each other.
Jack drags Rapunzel away to sit with him during the task so she can't try anything.
Merida and Hiccup enter the task with their school mates.
The arena is round with bleachers all around (Think of the dragon arena from the Tri Wizard Tournament) and lots of rocks.
Merida hides and uses defensive moves, instead of offensive.
Hiccup does the same, both buying their time, hoping some how they can get out of this.
At one point Blake and Hiccup are face to face.
Hiccup lowers his wand, expecting Blake to do the same, but he doesn't.
Blake explains that he's got too much to lose and he can't go against Alex. He apologizes then prepares to kill Hiccup.
Before he can Merida kills him, hardly realizing what she's doing.
Dorian screams from the bleachers and Merida drops her wand, horrified with herself.
Other competitors start towards them, but Toothless bursts into the arena before they can harm them.
Merida and Hiccup climb onto his back as the bleachers erupt in confusion and chaos.
Alex tries to stop them, but Professor Starling fights him.
Rapunzel slips away from Jack and they pick her up.
Hiccup opens a portal and they pass through to safety.
They faint when the portal closes, their strength totally spent from all the events of the past year.
Merida awakens and finds her parents in her bedroom.
It is revealed that Stoik contacted them after receiving Hiccup's letter and they formed their castle into an army base.
Merida finds Hiccup still asleep in his bed, cuts and bruises covering his face.
When he wakens she hugs him and tells him her true feelings.
Hiccup tells her he feels the same and they kiss.
Rapunzel arrives and they take a walk outside the castle.
It's then they discover the healing powers of her hair and use it to fix their wounds.
They decide to work their hardest to get Jack back.
They need to Big Four to defeat Alex.
Year Five
Merida's parents introduce them to the leader of the rebellion.
They are shocked to find it's Nicholas.
He explains that Alex only thought he was dead so he was able to escape and call together the army he had summoned before to fight the master.
They tell what happened to Jack and Nicholas seems genuinely concerned.
He finally tells the whole story about how Jack's mother died in childbirth and Nicholas was heartbroken and was unable to look at his child without thinking of Melanie so he gave him away. After he gave him away he realized it was a mistake and tried to find him again, but wasn't able to so he was forced to live his life alone, weighted down with his bad choices and feeling guilty. He made a potion that erased his bad memories and left the good, but when Jack returned to school they all came crashing down on him again. He knew Jack would never forgive him so he tried to keep it a secret and tried to send him away for his own protection. By then he knew of the master and he didn't want Jack to be involved. He showed no affection to the boy so that the master wouldn't use him against Nicholas.
The three friends realize Nicholas really does love Jack, but he was just protecting both the boy and himself.
Nicholas hands the leadership of the army over to the three youngsters, knowing it will be them to defeat Alex and not himself.
They begin setting up training stations and practice schedules for everyone who was staying at the castle.
Simpion and Lady Whitewind arrive from Hogwarts to help them. They bring Toothless and several other creatures from the Dark Forest, all ready to help.
Stoik and many other wizards don't trust Toothless at first, but Hiccup shows how he has been tamed and they decide he's alright.
As soon as everyone has been assigned a role in the preparation for war and they all know what to do Hiccup, Merida, and Rapunzel set off to gather more recruits.
Hiccup and Toothless travel to find more dragons. Merida and Lady Whitewind go to find more unicorns and other woodland animals. Rapunzel is in charge of gathering more wizards and witches.
Merida and Lady Whitewind are ambushed by several acromantulas.
They are assisted in the fight by a herd of centaurs that live nearby.
Merida convinces them to join the war and sends them back to her castle.
Hiccup and Toothless find many dragons that are eager to help and prove that they aren't as bad as many wizards think.
While campaigning with them Hiccup finds there are other recruiters there for Alex.
Rapunzel's first mission is her mother.
She travels back to her house and explains everything that had happened from her very first year at Hogwarts.
Her mother reveals a shocking secret.
She was the first witch that was able to absorb other people's lives and create a shadow
In the end she faked hr death and attempted a normal life. However she was unable to move on and find love or bear children so in an attempt to fix her own broken heart she stole the Minister of Magic's daughter and raised her as her own, safely tucked away from the world.
Rapunzel is angry at first and completely horrified by her fake mother, but she decides to be mature and forgives her.
After gathering more witches and wizards they return to the castle.
Everyone is wary of Rapunzel's "mother" but she does her best to help them anyways.
Hiccup returns with an impressive force of dragons.
Merida and Lady Whitewind return, assuring them that the Dark Forest is now filled with their allies, ready to strike the school as soon as they were ordered to.
Immediately war plans are made.
Rapunzel's "mother" takes the three aside and informs them that no matter what happened she was the only one who could kill Alex. It must be master against master.
They agree to her plan.
On the eve of the attack they send a letter by Rapunzel in owl form to warn all the students that used to train with them.
The attack at night, just after a full moon.
Hiccup, Merida, Rapunzel, and her mother ride Toothless into the fray, attempting to stay out of the mess and find Alex.
Merida sees Dorian struggling on the battlefield and demands for Hiccup to let her go help.
He listens, knowing she's trying to make up for killing Blake.
Merida saves Dorian, but she is not forgiven.
As the three remaining on Toothless continue forward they stumble across Hiccup's father, defenseless and weak facing Drake.
Hiccup abandons them and rushes in to help.
Despite her desire to stay and help Rapunzel takes over and flys Toothless on, determined to find Alex.
Hiccup and Drake face each other bravely and courageously, still Drake gets the upper hand.
At the last moment Hiccup manages to disarm Drake and kills him, saving his father.
Meanwhile Merida has joined Lady Whitewind and Simpion in the fight.
At one point the ruler of the werewolves arrives. He takes on Simpion while Merida and Lady Whitewind are unable to help.
The great silver centaur dies at his jaws.
Filled with rage for Simpion and Hiccup, who was cursed by this werewolf, Merida uses her bow to kill him. She thanks Simpion for teaching her to use it properly.
Hiccup gets his father to safety then attempts to find Merida.
They meet up to defeat an extremely large acromantuala then set off in search of Rapunzel and Toothless.
With Toothless's keen nose Rapunzel is able to find Alex and Jack. Both waiting patiently in the old headmaster's room.
Toothless attacks Alex, but he sends him through a wall, fatally wounding the poor dragon.
Jack attacks Rapunzel while Alex faces her mother.
Not wanting to fight him, but left with no choice Rapunzel struggles to gain the upperhand in her battle with Jack.
Suddenly Jack uses one of the skills Simpion taught him and transforms her hair to ice then shatters it. Leaving a choppy blonde mess.
To Rapunzel's surprise she feels immense pain from this falls to the floor, unable to move because of the pain.
With this awful pain her hair turns from blond to a dark brunette, like the life has been drained from it.
Out on the battlefield several witches and wizards fall down in pain as old wounds are reopend, Merida and Hiccup included.
With it being cut every wound her hair healed is undone.
Jack raises his wand to finish her off, but stops.
Rapunzel looks up at him with tear filled eyes and whispers his name.
Jack's eyes flicker blue then back to black.
Knowing what she has to do, Rapunzel manages to stand up and throws herself against him in a full on kiss.
Immediately Jack is awoken from the curse and comes back to himself.
Just then Merida and Hiccup reach them, both covered in blood and breathless.
They run towards Jack to hug him, but a figure steps in their way.
It's Liam.
After Rapunzel broke his heart he devoted himself to Alex and became his most faithful follower, even combining himself with the 'shadow' to gain immense power.
He moves to attack them, but Toothless arrives, blocking Hiccup.
Liam kills him without a whim then moves on to Hiccup and Merida.
This time Jack blocks his path.
They begin an intense battle and are soon joined by Merida and Hiccup. Rapunzel is still too weak to join.
Liam deals with Merida and Hiccup easily enough and focuses on Jack.
He prepares to deal a final death blow. Rapunzel, Merida, and Hiccup struggle to stop him, but someone beats them to it.
Nicholas jumps in at the last moment and begins his own duel with the shadow Liam.
At first things appear good and they believe Nicholas will beat him, then things turn for the worse and it becomes clear Liam with win.
Jack lets out an angry yell and helps his father fight.
Once again Liam prepares to finish him off, but Nicholas gets in the way.
His spell hits the older man.
The three friends distract Liam, letting Jack have his final moments with his father.
Nicholas smiles at Jack and tells him he loves him and how proud of him he is. He dies in his son's arms with a smile on his face and tears on his cheeks.
Filled with a newfound strength Jack manages to destroy Liam, shadow and all.
Reunited once more the four friends turn to finish off the Master, but are shocked to find him standing perfectly still in front of Rapunzel's mother, both staring intently into each other's eyes.
After a few moments both seem to be growing weak. Their skin becomes paler and thinner, their bodies shaking from fatigue.
Hiccup realizes their trying to drain each other of their lives.
Unsure what to do they stand and watch.
Eventually Alex falls to his knees leaving Rapunzel's mother standing. She walks forward to finish him off, but when she grows close Alex leaps up and snaps her neck, killing her instantly.
Now it's just him and the four.
He gives them the option to join him or else he'll have to kill them.
They take each other's hands and refuse him.
Alex prepares to finish them, but Jack is struck by an idea.
He pulls the necklace Alex gave him from around his neck and throws it to the ground. Using his foot he smashes the stone.
Alex lets out a painful cry and falls down.
His body seems to be glowing and slowly several white lights begin to come out of the shattered fragments of the stone. More come from the stone hanging around Rapunzel's mother's neck. They hover in the room for a moment then one by one they rush into Alex's body.
He screams after each one and struggles to stand, stumbling through the room in an attempt to get away.
When the final white light hits him his whole body glows the brightest, most brilliant white they'd ever seen.
Unable to look long the four close their eyes, still holding hands.
Alex's cries grow louder then adrublty shut off.
Cautiously the big four open their eyes.
Alex is gone, only a white orb remains.
A clean clear voice emits from it, neither female nor male.
It thanks them for freeing the souls trapped within them then blinks away.
Tired and confused the four sit down in the room. Rapunzel and Hiccup cry, Rapunzel for her fake mother, Hiccup for Toothless.
Jack and Merida hold them silently until Jack moves to sit next to his father's body. He says a few words, forgiving him, then reaches out and takes his cold dead hand in his own.
Outside the battle is over, the big four has won.
Epilogue
Jack and Rapunzel are married. Jack works for the Ministry of Magic as an auror, Rapunzel is an artist and mother to their two daughters, Elsa and Anna.
Hiccup and Merida are married also. Hiccup is a professional dragon tamer while Merida joined Jack in the auror field then moved to be the Defense Against the Dark-Arts teacher after giving birth to her first son, Hans.
Jack and Rapunzel prepare their daughters for their first year at Hogwarts.
They help them pass through to platform 9 ¾ and wait with them on the platform.
Merida and Hiccup arrive, introducing them to their son.
The three children get along well.
Anna spots a young boy standing by himself and pulls him into the group. His name is Kristof.
Jack puts his arm around Rapunzel as they listen to their conversation.
Hans wants to be a Slytherin just like his 'uncle' Jack. Anna wants to be Hufflepuff like her mother. Elsa is hoping for Ravenclaw. The newcomer, Kristof doesn't know where he belongs.
Jack imagined him as a Gryffindor. Perhaps Hogwarts would have a new Big Four. Four new protectors for when evil arose.
He and his friends exchanged looks and he knew they were thinking the same thing.
As their children and their new found friend boarded the train Rapunzel reached out and put her arm around Merida. In turn Merida put her arm around Hiccup. They stood with smiles on their faces, knowing they still had each other.
