A little information to help with this, Jack and Evienne are 14 in this chapter. Please leave a review when you are done!

I don't own RotG

An older Jack sat crouching carefully gazing around the corner of the store with Cynwrig and Cledwyn all three boys snickering as they watched the shopkeeper walk towards the door blissfully unaware of any scheming the boys had. The boys fell silent when the keeper reached the door but mischievous smiles adorned all three faces. As the keeper pushed the door open a bucket resting on it fell and dowsed the poor man in what he could only hope was water. The man sputtered and turn to where the boys were now falling over laughing, "You little brats! I will make you pay!" He shouted shaking his fist at the boys and walking threatening towards them.

Cledwyn's laughter died as he saw this and he grabbed his brother's arm and hauled him up, Jack stumbling after them. They ran to Jack's house and fell into the doorway laughing. Jack closed the door behind them and turned around to see both his mother and Evienne standing in the kitchen doorway with arms crossed and stern looks on their faces. His face flushed as his eyes landed on Evienne, adorned in a browned red dress a book gripped tightly in her arms and her now long brown curls falling down her back. He face had grown into that of a woman's and held a look of disappointment.

Jack hung hi head in shame, "You are late." Evienne said flatly, "We said mid morning, it is well past mid morning."

Cynwrig laughed, "Oh no, we got you in trouble with teacher." He joked nudging Jack's shoulders and laughing with his twin.

"What was the shouting and running for gentlemen?" Jack's mother asked dangerously. "You would not have been tormenting Mister Young would you?" All three boys faces paled at the question and the twins laughter died quickly, as like Jack, they as well hung their heads in shame. "Jackson, I do believe you had plans for Miss Evienne to give you another lesson today?" At Jack's nod she turned to Evienne, "Under the circumstances I am afraid Jack will not be allowed to study as he is being punished."

Evienne smiled politely at his mother, "With all due respect I do believe that the best punishment you can offer Jack for his actions is allowing me to teach my lesson today." She suggested, turning and winking at Jack.

"This girls is totally going to save your hide from punishment." Bunny said astounded, "w in the world could she possibly see in you to cause her to do that?"

"My great personality and good looks." Jack responded confidently.

Bunny pursed his lips and shook his head, "No that can't be it." He mumbled thoughtfully earning a glare from Jack.

His mother seemed to mull the thought over in her mind and turned to look at her son who had his head hung to hide the knowing smile on his face. She sighed, "I suppose that his education is far more important than any prank he could have pulled," She turned to look at Evienne with a smile, "and if your lesson is going to be punishment enough for him then who am I to deny it?"

Evienne smiled and nodded her head in a bow to Jack's mother before walking past the astonished boys and reaching for the door being stopped by Jack's hand on her shoulder. "Allow my m'lady." He said opening the door and gesturing for her to walk ahead. She smiled and took the offer walking out of the house, quickly followed after by Jack and her brothers.

"Did you really just do that?" Cledwyn asked catching up to his sister and Jack.

She ignored the question and instead turned to Jack, "You know I resent lying Jackson."

"I do apologize, but your brothers managed to convince me to ignore our lesson and partake in some well intended pranks with them."

"Oh, put the fault on us so you look as if a good man." Cledwyn accused.

"If you had not stopped me on my way to your house I would never had done this." Jack defended.

The boys all shot off into an argument over who was to blame and Evienne rolled her eyes, "Gentlemen," Gaining their attention, "It matters not who's shoulders fault falls upon for confusion hath made his masterpiece with you." She stated simply, again turning directly to Jack, "Come, for we must make up lost time." She ordered, moving towards the forest as opposed to her house.

"Wait," Cynwrig spoke causing the girl to stop in her tracks, "You are not going to teach him at the house?" he asked shocked.

"No, with the likes of you two running around Jackson would never be able to focus properly on the lesson." She explained, "and as such I have found a better place to conduct our lessons."

"You have been 'conducting your lessons' as you say for over two years now, how much does he still need teaching on?"Cledwyn asked.

"Much like yourselves, my dear darling brothers, he has been unable to naturally grasp the ideals of literature and as such lessons must last longer."

"Maybe you are just not as good a teacher as you believe." Cledwyn joked. "We promise we won't be a distraction."

"Wouldst thou prefer that mother finds out about your little pranks?" She asked threateningly.

"A fair point, we must allow Jack the setting in which he can concentrate to the best of his ability, we shall leave you both to your lesson." Cledwyn quickly chimed in dragging his brother away from the two.

Jack swung his arm around Evienne's shoulders once her brothers were out of sight and leaned in to whisper in the girls ear, "Why do you continue to lie to them about out 'lessons'?" He asked teasingly.

She looked at him incredulously, "Surely you do not actually believe that if they knew your lessons ended six months ago that the would continue to allow us to be unescorted?"

"I don't believe my mother would mind." He said casually.

"Your mother is not the one that I am concerned with Jack," She responded with a light laugh, "If my brothers were to find out they would skin you alive."

"I have given your brothers no reason to not trust me entirely." Jack retorted slightly hurt.

"Courting their younger sister for six months and not informing them of it is a wonderful reason in their eyes I'm most certain." She shot back with a look.

"Well, look at that snowman has some move apparently." Bunny joked, immediately getting shushed by the rest of the guardians who were intrigued by the scene playing out in front of them.

Jack sighed and came to a stop. Evienne turned to look at him curiously, he grabbed her hand and kissed it, "And that raises the question, my dear, of why we are not just telling of our courtship." He said questioningly.

Evienne blushed at his gesture and looked away, "Jack-" She froze as familiar gasps sounded behind her causing both teens eyes to go wide in horror. She turned around and saw her brother standing shock still with gapping mouths before the two. And audible gulp sounded from the boy behind her and Jack nervously tightened his grip on her hand.

"I knew he was not taking this long to learn to read as you have taught him." Cledwyn said with a victorious smile.

Cynwrig however replaced his shock with anger threatening walking towards Jack who now had his arm shoving Evienne behind him in a protective manner. "So you think you can do something like this and not pay for the transgression?" He asked angrily.

Jack smirked his signature smirk and spoke arrogantly, "And who exactly is expected to make me 'pay for the transgression", as you say?"

"Us." Came the response.

Jack laughed, "And that is meant to frighten me?"

The twins both adorned identical glares, Cledwyn popping his knuckles while Cynwrig popped his neck. The three stepped closer to each other and squared off. "Boys!" Evienne shouted, breaking the tension held between the three, "Where it my cue to fight, I should have known it without a prompter." She said sternly, "No prompter hath come upon our situation," The boys all looked to her the will to fight evident through both their faces and their stances, "Stand down." She said lowly with a command that shook their very souls. Both twins fell back but kept their glares trailed on Jack who turned and walked back to stand beside her. "As such circumstances as these fall upon us lying would be of no use," Evienne started, "Jack and I have been enthralled in a courtship for the past half year, we didst not inform as such for fear that you two would react precisely as you have shown."

"But why must he be the one?"

Jack scoffed at the offensive tone of the question, Evienne looked at him with a knowing look and he rolled his eyes, "he is the only one in this town that is not a complete and utter bore." She responded. "You enjoy and seek his company above all others, and like wise as do I."

"If you hurt her Overland we will end you." Cynwrig threatened.

Jacks face softened, "That is the farthest thing from my intent." He said casually. The twins looked at each other before nodding and turning to walk away without another word.

Okay, that is that. I hope you like it. And next chapter will be up as soon as I can get it up, just don't rush me.
