Hello, I told you I would have this up before halloween. And you all better enjoy me updating like this because any day now my writing inspiration is going to die again and I will be back to updating every couple of months. But on the upside when that does happen you will have had a good string of updates. I hope you will enjoy this chapter.

I don't own RotG

The memories changed once again, Jack was running out of his house with his sister in tow, his mother calling after him, "Come on Jack you can't have fun all time." Jack ignored her with a laugh and ran further into the woods.

He found a tall tree and winked at Emma before climbing up it, her friends joining the laughing girl at the base of the tree. Evienne's voice called out when he hung himself upside down from one of its branches, "Jack get down from there."

"Never!" he called back laughing, blowing a kiss to the girl as she came closer.

The blushing girl looked away from him and to Emma, "You make sure he does not hurt himself, alright?"

Emma nodded her head and smiled back up at her brother, "Such little faith you have me." He said right before cracking was heard and he tumbled to the ground.

"Jack!" Emma called out in fear as her brother hit the ground, "Are you alright?" She asked.

Jack groaned in response and looked to Evienne, who merely sighed and walked away.

Moments later the girl appeared again with the town physician following after her. "What happened this time child?" The doctor asked without surprise at Jack's bruised form. He immediately knelt down and set work stitching and bandaging up Jack's wounds as Jack shyly replied that he fell out of a tree. Evienne sighed and shook her head lovingly as she led the group of children carefully away from Jack so that the Doctor could work.

When Jack arrived back at his house the Doctor told his mother what had happened, "Thank you." His mother responded, bidding the man a farewell and rounding on her son. "This is what I mean Jackson, you cannot keep playing around, you are almost sixteen and it is time you acted as such." She declared, "Tomorrow you start your job at the shop."

"What?" Jack asked unbelieving.

"Yes, I have already spoken with James and he has agreed to allow you to make up for your many many pranks by working for him." Her tone showed she was leaving no room for argument, but that wouldn't stop Jack.

"But I don't want to work there, it is to boring."

"Jack, it is time to grow up, be happy that I am only starting with a job. You are practically of age for marriage and yet you have not eve tried courting a lady." Jack held his tongue and it was clear the he and Evienne had not yet announced their relationship to anyone save her brothers. "You start at the shop bright and early tomorrow." She concluded and Jack nodded his head in defeat heading up the stairs to his room.

The next morning did in fact see Jack reluctantly making his way to the shop in the town square, when the door opened a bell announced his entry, "Ah, Jackson." Mister Young said from across the room, "Right on time, I need you to man the counter while I go take inventory." He said.

'Yes sir." Jack begrudgingly replied, walking behind the counter. An apron was shoved into his arms and he looked at it uncertainly, "You have got to be kidding me."

"Chop chop." Mister young said waiting for Jack to put the apron on. Once he did the shopkeeper nodded his head and went through the door behind the counter to take stock.

Jack stood behind the counter staring at the door, waiting for any sign of a customer but none came. After about an hour he groaned and buried his head in his arms on top of the counter. Suddenly the bell sounded and in stepped Evienne, at the sight of the girl Jack immediately perked up. She had not noticed him standing behind the counter yet as she had gone straight to the other end of the store.

Just before Jack was about to call to her Mister Young reemerged from the back, "Ah Evienne." He called happily, causing the girl to turn around and lock shocked eyes on Jack, "I believe you know my new shop boy?" He asked gesturing to Jack.

"Yes of course." She laughed, "Hello Jackson." She nodded, Jack nodding back politely.

"Well my dear, what can I get for you?" Mister Young asked.

"I do actually require some things that you keep in the back." She said walking up to the counter, "Flower, potatoes, sugar and coco if you have any?"

Mister Young smiled, "For you my dear child anything." He said before disappearing behind the door again.

She turned her attention to Jack and smiled, "Well look at you with a job, the fall finally knock some sense into you?" She asked.

"My mother told me I had to work here." Jack said with disappointment.

She sighed and rolled her eyes, "You are almost sixteen, it makes sense for you to have a job."

Jack grumbled something about her sounding just like his mother before turning his attention to the door that had opened yet again. He growled at the sight of the large teen his own age that had walked in. He stood tall with broad shoulders, so much different from Jack's own appearance. He had green eyes and a mop of blonde hair that fell to his shoulders and was pulled back in loose ponytail at the base of his neck. He turned to the two standing at the counter and eyed Evienne causing Jack's eyes to darken.

"Ah hello lovely Evienne." He spoke drawing the girl's attention as well He walked up and grabbed her hand before leaning down and planting a lingering kiss on top of it.

Jack felt anger rise up in him when after he had finished kissing her hand his still did not let it go.

Evienne had on a soft smile and spoke kindly towards the other male, "Good morning Victor, how are you this fair day?"

"Better now that I have seen your beauty." He said causing the girl to blush and look to the floor. He glanced at Jack who was glaring at their interlocked hands and finally let her hand fall back to her side, "Good morning Jackson."

"Victor." He regarded the other with coldness.

Before another word could be said Mister Young emerged from the back room, "Ah Vincent what can I get you?" he asked kindly.

"OH just some flower." He said politely back.

Mister Younger nodded and turned to Jack, "Ring up Miss Evienne's purchase while I go get Mister Anderson's item." Jack nodded and went to work adding up Evienne's total.

Before he could give her it though Victor spoke up, "Surely you are not planning on carrying all that back to your house unassisted?" he asked her.

Evienne looked down at her item thoughtfully, "I do suppose it would be to heavy for me to carry in on trip." She said as she handed Jack the right amount of money.

"Then allow me to assist you back to your house." Victor offered, and Jack felt the rage stir back up in him.

"I suppose." Evienne responded happily, "Thank you, Victor." Jack looked at her stunned by her response before Mister Young came back with Victor's things. After he paid for the item he grabbed Evienne's bag of flower and potatoes before offering her his arm, which she graciously took and Jack wanted to scream at the sight. She turned at the door to wave goodbye to him and then walked out with Victor.

Jack was filled so much anger he hadn't noticed the new person at the counter until she spoke, "They make a lovely couple, though I cannot find a single thing in her that anyone would find desirable."

Jack looked at Morgan with a harsh glare, "far more than they would find in you."

"You try to hide the affection you have for me but you will not be able to do it forever." Morgan said winking at Jack.

"The only affection I have towards you is affection for your absence." He responded curtly.

"Oh Jackson, you wound me, when have I ever done something to lead you to this feeling?" She asked with her hand over her heart.

"I think thou never wast where grace was said." Jack quoted Shakespeare and felt pride well up in him at the girl's confused look.

"Look, I was wonder since you are not courting anyone if you fancy a walk after you are done here?" Morgan asked, ignoring Jacks insult.

Jack opened his mouth to tell her to get lost when his eyes darted back to the door and his heart pinged at the thought of Evienne leaving with Victor. "Fine." He responded ignoring the girl's excited expression as she raced out the door.

Jack felt the boring eye of the Guardians, "What?" He asked looking away from the memories to them.

"What do you mean what?" Tooth asked angrily, "You're with Evienne, why would you agree to spend time with someone you know she hates?" She asked slapping his shoulder rather hard.

"Ow, I don't know!" He shot back, "I'm sure past me had a good reason."

"Or a bad one that he thinks is good." Bunny said, "This will be fun." He snickered.

When his shift ended Jack walked outside and saw Morgan waiting by the door. She smiled happily, "Hello Jackson."

Jack forced a smile on his face, "Hello Morgan, you look lovely today." It wasn't a lie, she did look rather nice, a simple brown dress that was unstained and her black hair pulled back into a nice bun on the back of her head with flowers woven into it every so often. He grabbed her offered hand and kissed it before offering her his arm much as Victor had done with Evienne earlier.

He was about to speak when a voice cut him off, "Jack?" He turned around to see a stunned Evienne holding a basket that slipped out of her hands and fell to the ground beside her, her eyes darting from between the two her mouth agape trying to find the words to say.

"I told you I always get what I want." Morgan said cockily.

Her mouth shut closed and she turned on her heels and practically sprinted away, "Evienne!" Jack called after her, dropping his hold on Morgan. He growled before turning to look at Morgan, "This was a mistake." He said simply before running after the other girl, leaving a seething Morgan in his wake. Jack caught up to Evienne just outside of town, "Slow down will you?" He called after her, "I was just doing what you did!"

Evienne froze in her tracks and turned around to face him with a dangerous expression, "Excuse me?"

"When you ran off with Victor today." Jack shot back, his sense of victory evident in his voice.

"How is letting Victor carry my bags back to my house the same as what I just sow you and Morgan doing?"

"OH, you know he is trying to court you." Jack said angrily.

"And I told him no!" She shouted back at him, "Because I am already being courted by you!" She looked at the ground and sighed, "At least that's what I thought."

Jack's anger didn't subside at her statement, "Why would you even let him near you if you knew he was trying to court you?"

"Because that's what is polite!" Evienne's anger rose to match Jack's, "And if you do not wish for others to court me then maybe you should tell people about us!" Jack's face softened ever so slightly, "We are not children anymore Jack, life is not a game that cannot be won by pulling moves like that, it is time to grow up." She said coldly, "A year ago this would not have been an issue, but now," She stopped, "Do you think you are the only one with parents that are urging you to grow up?" She asked. "They are right, we are adults and it is time we act like it. If you won't I will find someone who will." She walked briskly past Jack before stopping and turning back to him, "If you ever decide to join me you know where to find me." She said before walking away from the confused Jack.

Bunny whistled lowly, "Never would have pegged you for the jealous type." He laughed nudging Jack who just stood there staring at his past self.

"Go after her you moron." He spoke suddenly to his unmoving self. "GO, what are you waiting for?" He asked angrily.

But Jack didn't go after her, he stood frozen in place letting what she had meant sink fully into his mind. His head shot up when he finally understood what she had said. She just told him if he didn't grow up she was leaving him. Panic set in his soul as he turned to race after her, racing through the town and ignoring any questions he got. That is until he heard Morgan's voice sound, "Jack!" He halted his movements panting and bent over to catch his breath, "Why did you run off earlier?" She asked angrily.

"Because I am already courting someone." He said loudly causing heads to turn towards the pair, but he didn't care.

"Who?" She asked angrily.

"Evienne." Jack responded proudly, a smile breaking out on his face, "I am courting Evienne and have been for the last year and a half!" He shouted for the whole town square to hear before racing past her and up to Evienne's doorstep, his hand didn't even hesitate to knock on the door quickly. Her mother answered the door getting the first syllable of his name out before he interrupted her, "Hello Mrs. Jernigan, is Evienne home? I really must speak with her." He asked looking past the women into the house.

"I am afraid not Jackson," Mrs. Jernigan answered unsurely, "She actually just left with Victor."

Jack felt the finally break in his heart as his face fell, "Oh." He said walking away from the house in a daze. She had left with Victor he had not acted quick enough.

"Jack?"

He froze at the sound of her surprised voice behind him, "Should you not be with Victor?" He spat, not looking up from the ground.

"I was," She explained wondering why he wouldn't look at her, "He had accidentally taken my bag of flour home as opposed to his own, he felt he needed to correct that mistake as the sizes were different."

Jack finally turned to look at her about to reprimand her for such a made up story but saw that she was in fact carrying a bag of flour. "I am so sorry Evienne." He said, "I never meant to cause you pain in any way and I fear my actions today have done just that. I wish to make amends but I had feared when your mother told me that you had left with Victor that I was too late. I don't care if people know of us, I want this to continue."

"Is that why you screamed in the middle of the town square that you are courting me and have been for the last year and a half?" She asked as a smile broke its way onto her face. "Your voice carries expertly across this town Jackson." She laughed.

Jack's face spread into a smile at the sound as he stepped toward her and took her hand in his, "Do you think that we may continue this courtship despite my actions of jealousy today?" He asked still nervous that she would say no.

"Of course." She said quietly, "But this flower is getting quite heavy so I must get home to get it set down."

"No," Jack said with a smile, "I shall carry it for you." He concluded taking the flower from her arms and offering his unoccupied arm to her. She laughed and shook her head at him before accepting his offered arm.

"How do you do it?" Bunny asked confused, "How did you get that girl to love you that much?"

"I don't know." Jack answered just as confused as Bunny.

Okay, so that is that. Now is when I am getting into the memory clips that Jack sees in the movie, those little one line things that give you a glimpse of whats going on. So the next couple of chapters will start with those, as this one did. I hope you enjoyed and I hope you will give me your feedback.

Until next time, the Freak is out of here!
