A red bat will fall from the sky. He will have power that he will not understand. With this power he will be the Avatars strongest Ally, or the Avatars greatest enemy.

~ Ancient Prophecy.

The Dark Trinity's secret Headquarters.

Jason looked at the devastation.

Bizarro ripped a cable out of the floor.

"We were thinking less damage, not more damage big guy." Jason said.

"What are you doing Bizarro?!" Artemis demanded.

"Me told you." Bizarro said. "Me would go anywhere, anytime. Me meant it." Bizarro opened the Quantum doorway and flew through.

"NNOOO!" Jason and Artemis yelled.

An explosion knocked Jason and Artemis to the floor.

"We have to go after him!" Jason yelled.

"No." Artemis said. "We don't."

"What do you mean?"

"Not we. I will go after him."

"Someday. Someday you will understand how much I owe you..."

"Artemis! Don't do this!"

"...the mistakes I've made..."

"It doesn't matter what you think you did, we can..."

"How much you suffered because of me."

"No..."

Artemis kissed Jason.

"Finally." Jason said. "What did you think Princess?"

"You were okay...for a boy."

An explosion knocked Artemis through the Quantum doorway and sent Jason through another doorway.

There was a flash of light, and Jason was overcome with blackness.

Lin Beifong had been serving the Republic City Police department for a while.

Serving in such a capacity had allowed her to remain un-phased to most things that would catch others off guard.

She was not expecting to see a doorway open, and a being fall through the doorway.

Lin ran outside her airship and jumped off before she shot her grapple at the being.

Her grapple caught the being, and she shot her other grapple at the airship.

Her grapple caught the airship and the two were hanging in midair.

Lin retracted her grapple and pulled the man towards her and began pulling herself to the airship.

One on the top of the airship she looked at the man. He wore a helmet that was shattered. With a brown coat, a dark grey long-sleeved shirt with a red bat in the center of his chest.

He wore a pair of black pants with multiple pockets, and black boots.

The most disturbing thing about the man was that he had weapons that should not exist.

"Chief." A detective said. "Who is this man?"

"I don't know. Take him to interrogation."

"Yes ma'am."

Jason came into focus slowly. "Where... am I?" He asked.

"You're in Republic City." An older woman said.

Jason bolted upright but was pulled back down by restraints.

He looked behind him and saw that he was restrained to a chair. "Where am I?"

"Republic City Police Department."

"What's Republic City? Where's Artemis and Bizarro? Who are you?"

"Republic City is the capital, I don't know who this Artemis and Bizarro are, and I am Chief of police Lin Beifong."

"Why am I in jail?"

"You aren't. I had you brought here because you fell from the sky and I want answers."

"I want answers too."

"Then how about this. I'll ask a question then you ask a question."

"Fine."

"First Question. Who are you?"

"I'm the Red Hood. Now what the hell is Republic City?"

"It is the Capital of our world. Now. Where are you from?"

"Gotham City of the planet earth." Jason began feeling weird. "Why do I feel weird?"

"Is that really your question?"

"No. I mean maybe, but I feel weird. Like really weird."

"Can you describe it?"

"I don't know. Maybe. I guess it feels like being connected to something. That's the best way I can describe it."

"It would appear that your Bending element is unlocking. It's fascinating that you have an element at all."

"No. I don't want a Bending element."

"It would appear that you don't have a choice."

"No! Stop it! Make it stop!"

"It's not like I really know how to stop..."

The walls caved in and shattered into tiny sand like molecules and surrounded Jason.

"Get this away from me!"

"I'm not doing this! Calm down."

"I'll calm down when I'm not surrounded by metallic sand!"

Lin didn't know what to do. She tried to take a step forward, but the sand lunged at her. "Red Hood! Calm down. The metal is protecting you. More accurately you are protecting yourself."

"What?"

"Yes. You are creating a protective shield with the metal. Congratulations, you're an earth..."

A gout of black fire erupted out of the metal.

"You-you're a fire Bender and earth Bender?"

"What the hell! Black fire! What did you do to me?"

"You are the one doing this."

"Then how do I stop?"

"You have to relax. Calm down."

Jason calmed down and the metal sand stopped moving.

Lin took control of the metal and reformed the walls. She looked at the table and saw her coffee cup was on the table... shattered, and the coffee was on the floor. 'Great.' She thought.

"What is bending?" Jason asked rubbing his wrists.

"Bending is what it sounds like. You control one of the four elements. Air, Earth, Fire, or Water. Some however, like the Avatar, are able to use more than one element."

"So, I'm an Avatar?"

"No. Or at least I don't think so. I'll be back." She said walking out, but tripping.

Jason instinctively reached out to help her, but he was too far out of reach.

He was horrified when he caught her, but she looked like she was in pain.

He set her on her feet and let go.

"You-you're a Blood Bender!" Lin said horrified.

"What! No. I reached out to help you when you were falling but I wasn't going to be able to get you in time, but I felt a connection and grabbed it.

Guards stormed the room and pointed their arms at Jason.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"I'm sorry, but you're a threat to society."

"What are you talking about! I don't even know what Blood bending is!"

The guards shot their grapples at Jason who ducked and punched towards the guards.

The guards were hit with large earthy fists punching them into the wall.

"No!" Jason yelled. "That's not what I meant to do!"

"Stop!" Lin yelled.

The guards launched a barrage of earth and metal at Jason.

They hit him just as a vortex of metal dust surrounded him.

When the dust settled the only things left of Jason were the remnants of a Red Helmet, the red bar symbol from his chest, and some blood on the earth and metal used to attack him.

Lin Beifong looked at the mess and decided to call the red hood a casualty. Maybe he might come to her if he wasn't being hunted.

Jason was walking through a sewer tunnel with several cuts on his body. "Damn them!" He shouted. "Just because I can't control something, I have no idea what the hell it is they attack me? What the hell!"

So, caught up in his ranting that he didn't realize his cuts were healing.

"I've got to blend in. No. First I have to find a place to stay. I can steal food and water if I need to, but finding shelter is more important. Then I can find a way to blend in."

He didn't know how long he walked, but eventually he found himself underneath a manhole. He climbed up and saw a warehouse. He looked around and saw that it was most likely abandoned.

He walked around the warehouse and saw that it used to be a theatre, but it looked damaged by fire.

He rummaged around and found some outfits that looked like they would fit.

He put on a pair of black pants with a black shirt and black cloak.

'Okay. Stick to the shadows, get information and food, and come back.'

He walked through Republic City watching and listening.

The City was plagued by crime lords who ran protection rackets for their money.

'I guess that I need to get this bending thing down before I go after them.' He thought. 'It would be really bad if I ended up dying because I don't know how to bend.'

On his way back to the Theatre he swiped some food.

Over the next several hours he begrudgingly meditated like Bruce had taught him and determined that he had a strong connection to three of the four elements, particularly the alternate styles.

Earth Bending: His strength was what connected him to the Earth style, but his willpower is what allowed him to bend metal.

He had created a wall of metallic sand that acted like a shield and could probably act like weapons once he learned how.

Fire Bending: his rage was what connected him to the fire style, but his ferocity is what allowed him to wield lightning.

The fact that both were connected to his death were probably why it was black instead of yellow, red, or orange.

Water Bending: He didn't understand why he could Water Bend. It was the most confusing. Unfortunately, he could understand why he could Blood Bend... his bloodlust.

He would spend most days training to bend the elements while spending as little time outside. He only went outside for food and information.

He mastered Metal Bending first and created four walls a floor, and a roof.

He gathered furniture from the theatre and the props to make a bachelor pad. He had a bedroom in one corner with a bathroom, he had a kitchen in another corner, a training area in the third, and a living room in the final corner.

He had to open a door in the metal so he could leave and walk out through the Theatre door.

The next Bending style he managed was Water Bending.

He concentrated on meditation and found that he could pull the water from the air.

On one of his later trips he took several water skins he'd stolen and used them to take water back to his base.

He began leaving several times a day to fill some water barrels he'd found and cleaned out.

He used the water in the water barrels to cook, clean, drink, and bathe which is why he needed to leave as many times as he did.

The final Bending style he learned was Fire Bending. The he concentrated on his rage to produce the flames and used it to move through training Kata's and learned how to control the fire through his rage.

After he learned to control it, he learned how to use it without his rage.

It had taken the longest to learn, but he eventually learned how to Fire Bend without calling on his rage.

He used his Fire Bending to light his base, cook, and keep warm.

He learned it just in time because the next day a winter storm came through and it would have been uncomfortable without heating.

He built a fireplace and chimney in his base and used broken sets, props, and chairs to keep his base warm.

It was a cold night when he decided to take his first patrol of the city.

He walked the city streets making sure to stick to the shadows.

'Nice place. If Beifong could see her precious city at night...'

He was pulled from his thoughts by a man's voice.

"Here's your cut." A voice said. "Keep up the good work, and there's more where that came from."

Jason looked around the corner and saw a man who looked like one of the members of the triad and a man wearing the police armor.

He latched onto the metal of the armor and pulled the dirty cop towards him and punched him knocking him out.

The triad member ran, but Jason used the metal from the armor and caught the man.

He took the dirty cops armor off and put it on over his clothes and wrapped the man in his cloak before wrapping him in the cable from the armors right hand, and the triad member in the cable from his left hand.

He dragged them to the police station and dropped them off on the front steps before leaving.

When he got back to his base he walked in and lit the fire.

"Hello Red Hood." A familiar voice said from the chair.

"Chief Beifong." Jason said.

"I see that you have mastered your Bending." She pointed around the base.

"Yeah. Took me a while, but I eventually got the hang of them."

"Interesting place you have here."

"Well it's not like I had any money or anything. In fact, the only money I have is this." He said tossing her the money he stole from the Triad.

"I see. Where did you get this money?"

"I took it and this armor from a dirty cop who was working for the Triads."

"What! How did you find out?"

"I walked in on them exchanging the money and I broke it up, took this armor and the money, and dropped them off on your front steps."

"I see." Beifong said. "Do you have a way of earning money?"

"No, and I'm pretty sure that if you knew how much I stole then you would have to arrest me."

"Probably."

"How did you even find me?"

"An abandoned Theatre has noise coming from it and smoke coming from it, but it's not on fire. I didn't become Chief of police on my looks you know. I also didn't become the chief by spreading my legs for my superiors."

"I never said you did.

"Good."

"So, what are you going to do? Take me away. Throw me in prison for being able to bend blood even though I haven't used it since that day. Tell the Triad that I took one of their guys in and hope we kill each other. fight me?"

"No. I will let you live in peace, but I do ask that you get a job, so you don't send the wrong message or starve. There are non-Benders in the City you know."

"Yeah. I figured that out, but I figured that it would be better to learn how to Bend the Elements, so they don't go off prematurely, and I hurt someone."

"Thank you for your consideration. Did you learn how to Bend the elements by yourself?"

"Yeah. Why, is that bad?"

"No. I just haven't heard of someone doing that before."

"I was very determined."

"I'll say."

"Is that everything or was there something else?"

"No, no. Enjoy your evening." Chief Beifong said before leaving. On her way out she looked over her shoulder. "You can keep the Armor. It might come in handy."

"Thanks." Jason said before he went to his room. He took the armor off and went to sleep.

When he woke up, he went outside and sat in front of the fire. He felt something and reached under himself pulling out the money he'd taken from the Triad Member. That gave him an Idea.

He walked through the city and found a non-Bender area. He just had to wait.

He waited Patiently every day until a group of Triad members showed up and began terrorizing a small business.

"Hey. It's that time of month again." The first guy said.

"Yeah. So, you better pay up." A second guy said. "Otherwise..."

"Otherwise what?" Jason asked coming up.

"Who the hell is this guy?" The first guy asked.

"I'm the guy you don't want to piss off. Now tell me. What will you do if they don't?"

"Oh. A tough guy huh? You don't want to mess with us. We run this town."

Jason punched the guy in the stomach stabbing his grapples through the man's stomach. "Tell me where your boss is, and I won't let you bleed to death."

"The...Docks." The man said.

"Thank you." Jason pressed his finger to the man's stomach and shot black fire through the wound.

The man shrieked in pain before passing out.

Jason pressed his finger to the other wound and blasted the black fire through the other one.

He tossed the guy to his companion. "Tell your boss that I'm coming for him. I'll be there tonight."

"Okay." The man said afraid that he would piss himself if he stayed there much longer.

"And one more thing." Jason said.

The man looked at Jason who punched him.

Jason also picked their pockets when he hit them. leaving no one the wiser. He walked up to the shop owner. "How much for one of your radios?" He asked.

The shop owner looked at Jason in a mix of admiration and horror. "Uh."

"Hey, buddy. How much for a radio?"

"Thirty Yuan's"

Jason counted out the bills and paid for the Radio. "Thanks."

"No. Thank you!" The man yelled.

Jason made sure to watch his back as he walked home. He bought a few groceries and made sure that a few Triad Members followed him.

When he made it back to his base he walked in and disappeared into the shadows dropping his Radio and Groceries off to the side.

The Triad members ripped the door off only to see the blackness.

"Hey!" One of the members said. "No one disrespects the Red Monsoons Triad. We heard what you did, and we're here to make you pay!"

"Fine, but you're going to have to find me first." Jason's voice said from the shadows.

"Get out here and face us you coward!"

"Are you guy's afraid of the dark? Here. Let me give you some light!" Jason shot a fireball at the first man sending him flying.

The second man came in and shot fire at Jason, but Jason caught the fire, his fire absorbed it.

"Are you the Triad that works near the docks?"

"What? How did you find out?"

"Your friends told me."

"They are so dead when the boss finds out."

"How will your boss find out?"

"I'm going to tell him when we get back."

"How are you going to tell them if you're dead?" Jason asked shooting black lightning at the man.

The man let out agonized wails as the blood in his veins evaporated, and his heart exploded.

The first man was back up and Jason threw a rock at his head with enough force to decapitate him.

The other two guys looked at Jason and ran off screaming.

Jason held his hands out and stopped the men in their tracks.

The men struggled against Jason's Blood Bending.

"Where do you think you're going?" Jason asked pulling them back towards him.

The men struggled but couldn't say anything.

"You will see your boss again... In hell." He opened up two long holes in the ground and dropped them in before sealing the holes.

"Whoa." Jason said as he wobbled. "I must've overworked myself." He staggered to pick up his groceries and Radio before opening the door to his base. He sat them on the floor and had to use the wall to support him to his room. "I guess Bending really takes a lot out of you." He said before he fell to his knees and crawled to his bed.

He was halfway into his bed before he passed out.

When he woke up, he was lying in his bed. He got up and looked around.

"Good." Beifong said startling him. You're awake."

"What happened?" He asked.

"Why don't you tell us?"

"I went to do a bit of shopping, and when I came home, I was attacked by four guys."

"You're lucky you survived. It seems that two of them got away so you might want to leave and find a new place."

"No thanks. I think I'll stand my ground."

"Well. I won't try to force you to leave, but if they come back for you don't wear yourself out."

"I plan on doing some serious training before I do something like that again."

"Good. You were out for a week because of that."

"A week! Damn it!" Jason ran out the door.

"Where are you going?"

"I had an errand to run last week."

"Hey. Take it slow. You just had your first real fight with elemental bending. You need to relax. Rebuild your Chi. Then go about your errand."

"Okay. I'll do that. Why did you come up here anyway?"

"We got a call that there was a fight going on up here. I told them that I would investigate. Imagine my surprise to find two dead men and you passed out."

"Thanks for checking in."

"You're welcome, but don't go looking for trouble."

"I won't, but I tend to be a trouble magnet."

Chief Beifong looked at Jason before leaving. "Have a good day Red Hood."

"You too Chief."

Jason plugged his Radio in and turned it on before he went to make something to eat.

Chief Beifong had put his groceries up and left an envelope in one of the drawers in his counter.

He opened the envelope and found some money in it. That reminded him.

He went outside and unearthed the two men he buried. He took the money out of their pockets and buried them again.

He went back inside and made a meal while listening to music on the radio. The one thing that sucked about this world was that it didn't have T.V., but he would have to survive without. He ate his meal and went back to bed.

The next morning, he made his way down to the docks.

He went through each warehouse looking for the Triad, but he couldn't find them. 'With my luck they will be in the last warehouse.'

He walked through the last warehouse and found the Triad.

"It's been a week boss. Do you really think that he's going to show up?" One thug asked.

"Of course, he will. He's just playing a mind game. He's trying to throw us off our game, and attack when we least expect it."

'That's actually a good idea.' Jason thought. 'It worked in Gotham, why not here?'

Jason waited until anyone left the warehouse. When they did, he would follow them, kill them, cut their head off, take their money, and throw their body over the edge and into the water.

He waited until he had ten heads. He put them in a water globe and went inside the warehouse again and threw the water globe at the triad head.

"What the hell!" The man yelled. "What is this? Who did this?"

There was the sound of people puking.

"I did that over the last two hours!" Jason said loud enough to be heard from his hiding spot. "Just imagine what I could do in an entire day!"

"What do you want!" The boss yelled.

"I'm here to sell you guys protection."

"Protection from who!" A thug yelled.

"Protection from me!"

"What!" The boss yelled. "We'll kill you!"

"Really?" Jason began crushing the warehouse around them.

"STOP!" The boss yelled.

"Congratulations! You work for me now! You will stop pulling the protection racket on non-Benders! If you don't, I'll hunt down all of you and kill you! Am I understood?!"

There was silence.

Jason began crushing the warehouse again.

"YES!" Everyone yelled in unison.

"Good. I'll take my first payment of sixty percent of your funds."

"WHAT!"

"Fine. Sixty-six percent."

"No!"

"I'll take my sixty-six percent, and I'll expect sixty percent every month... oh, and don't go after non-Benders. If you do then I'll send you to hell."

"Fine."

"And if you think of pulling a fast one and try killing me when you give me the money let me remind you..." Jason crushed the Warehouse a little farther.

"We get it!"

"Good. I'll be talking to the other Triads too, so don't worry."

Jason left and waited.

Ten minutes later two men brought out large duffle bags, and two more were there as bodyguards.

"Good. Now search the bags for anything that could hurt me."

The men searched the bags but didn't find anything.

"Good. Now hand me the bags."

The two men brought the bags to Jason.

Jason froze the four men in a wall of ice, picked up the bags, and left.

When Jason made it back to his base, he created a metal box, put the money in it, and buried it. "Two more, and maybe I can get rid of the Triads entirely."

Jason walked to the opposite end of the City where the Agni Kai Triads were located. Granted they would probably just replace the bosses with someone who had the backbone to deal with him, but by then he would have more than enough money and could kill the Triads.

When he got to where he wanted, he found an abandoned office building and went to work.

He built a second base. This one was smaller than his other one, but he didn't need it to be big. He put the same kind of design in it. A bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, and training room. The last thing he added was a fireplace and chimney.

When that was done, he looked around for any furniture.

He found a couple of couches, a few of chairs, two tables, and futon.

He used his water bending to clean off the furniture and moved it into the base before making a fire and drying the furniture as best he could.

When he was done, he decided to stay the night.

The next morning, he woke up and headed back to a non-Bender area.

He stayed in the area for about two weeks before the Agni Kai Triads showed up for their money.

"I'm sorry." The Shop owner said. "Business has been slow. I don't have your money."

"That's too bad Mr. Izawa." The first thug said. "That means that we can't protect you this month. Do you know what happens when we can't protect you?"

"Please. No."

The man brought his fist up and went to throw a fireball at the store, but a stone fist punched his out of the way.

"Leave him alone." Jason said walking up to the shop.

"Tough guy huh?" The second thug said. "Well we know how to handle tough guys."

"Maybe you do, but you don't know how to handle me." Jason said punching the thug in the throat.

A third thug grabbed Jason from behind, but Jason slammed the back of his head into the guy's nose sending the cartilage into his brain.

The first guy got up and tried to Fire Bend at Jason, but Jason grabbed his hand and sent lighting into the guy's arm. "Tell your boss that I'm coming for him." He grabbed the second guy and hit him with a lightning bold in the face.

The first guy jumped in his car and drove away.

Jason picked the first guy he killed and put him against the wall. He picked his pocket of any money before doing the same to the other guy.

"Hey." He asked the shop keeper. "What do you sell?"

"I have Radios and home furnishings."

"Cool. I'll take a radio and maybe a couple of lamps."

The man sold Jason two lamps and a radio.

With that Jason went back to his second base.

When he got back, he plugged the lamp and radio into the wall.

He would send electricity through the walls allowing the electronics to work.

He turned on the radio while made dinner.

"... the fire ferrets win their first game. This rookie team shows promise, but let's see if they last the season!"

'I wonder what they're playing?' He asked himself.

He sat down at the table and ate while listening to the next game.

'Hm. Pro-Bending. I might have to go watch it sometime.'

The next match was bogus. The wolf-bats were a bunch of cheaters.

A wicked grin slid across his face. "Maybe I can test my skills against a few Pro-Benders."

He finished eating and left the base before heading to the Pro-Bending Arena.

It wasn't that hard to find, but he asked for directions twice.

When he got to the Arena, he asked a few spectators who were leaving if they knew where the wolf-bats were.

They didn't, but they told him to ask the building manager.

He made his way inside and found the manager's office.

"No!" The manager yelled. "I don't care how much you pay me! I won't let your team cheat their way through!"

"Come on Mr. Lung." A second voice said. "I just want to give the fans a little something more. Is that too much to ask?"

"When it involves cheating against players who work their butts off to get a shot at the title. Why do you want your team to win four years in a row anyway?"

To show how good they are of course."

"They're only good at one thing, and that's cheating!"

"Do you want run that by me one more time?"

"Your team has no love for the sport. My dad dedicated his life to the sport. He showed real sportsmanship, but what you want to do is the opposite, and I refuse to let you do this anymore. Even if it means I have to shut down the Arena."

"Fine, but you wanted this."

A man left the room and Jason grabbed him slamming him into a wall. "You're going to tell me where the wolf-bats are or I'm going to start taking you apart piece by piece."

"Who the hell are you?"

"You're worst nightmare."

The man yelled as Jason ran black lightning through his body.

"Tell me!"

"They go to this noodle shop down the road! Now please just let me go!"

Jason opened a crevice in the ground and dropped the man into it before slamming it closed.

The building manager looked at Jason in horror. "What did you do?"

Jason realized he was cloaked in shadows and walked toward the manager making sure to keep his face hidden. "I am not your enemy. I only target the scum of this city. A man will come talk to you sometime this week. He will help you keep this building open."

"Why?"

"He's a huge fan of the sport."

"Okay, but why did you kill that man?"

"He used his power and influence to infect the city. I am here to fight the infection caused by him and others like him."

"What should we call you?"

"I will reveal myself in time, but now is not the right moment."

With that Jason left to find the noodle shop.

When he got to the noodle shop, he walked in and talked to the manager.

"Excuse me, but are the wolf-bats here?"

"In the back."

"Thanks. Sorry in advance for the damages." He said slapping a large stack of money on the counter.

When he got to the back, he saw a smug looking guy with two ladies who would look quite nice if they weren't cozying up to that loser.

"Hey!" Jason yelled at the team. "Are you the wolf-bat's?"

"Yeah. What about it?" The guy in the middle said.

"You guy's cheated to win the last three years in a row."

"Can you prove that?"

"I'm pretty sure that you can't fight to save your lives." Jason said before throwing a fireball at the man in the middle.

The man waved his hand in front of him trying to douse the fire.

The fire sizzled until it made the water evaporate and hit the man's shoulder.

The man looked at Jason. "Wh-who are you?"

"I'm the guy who's going to cut out the infection plaguing this city."

"What are you talking about?"

An Earth Bender threw a chunk of the floor at Jason.

Jason ducked, spun, and flipped over a gout of fire thrown by the Fire Bender, and he threw a blast of water at the Fire Bender before pulling the Fire Bender towards him.

The Earth Bender threw another chunk of rock at Jason.

Jason threw the Water Bender at the rock and jumped over it before throwing a lightning bolt at the Earth Bender knocking him out. He walked towards the Water Bender.

"Please don't hurt me." The Water Bender begged for his life.

"You better start training hard and play fair!" Jason said. "If you don't stop cheating then I will find you and break you."

"I'll do anything you want just don't hurt me!"

Jason spun around and left the noodle shop.

When Jason made it back to his second base he went to his bed and fell asleep.

When he woke up, he went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

"Did you really have to break the wolf-bat team?" Lin asked.

"They cheated at Pro-Bending."

"WHAT! You attacked them because they cheated at a stupid game!"

"Yeah. They were cheating rather than playing the game for the fun of it."

"Why the hell haven't I thrown you in prison yet?"

"Because you know that you can't keep me there, and I would be out in twenty-four hours?"

"Is that a challenge?"

"No. Why do you keep me out of prison?"

"Maybe because of the Prophecy."

Jason stopped what he was doing and looked at Lin. "What...Prophecy?"

"A red bat will fall from the sky. He will have power that he will not understand. With this power he will be the Avatars strongest Ally, or the Avatars greatest enemy." Lin recited.

Jason rubbed his hand across his chest where his red bat Symbol had been. He looked at his hands. "What the hell's an Avatar?"

"The Avatar is a protector of the world. They bring peace to the world."

"So, either I will help the Avatar bring peace to the world or fight the Avatar?"

"Yes."

"Is that why I am able to wield three of the four Elements?"

"I would assume so. Look at what you have done in almost nine months."

Jason thought about the past nine months. He had learned how to use three elements. "How long does it normally take to learn how to bend three elements?" He asked the question he should have asked two months ago.

"It's nearly impossible. Especially with how old you are. No one who was born a non-Bender has ever showed the potential for Bending. Let alone three of the elements."

"Then, how can I?"

"I don't know."

"Then should I even continue?"

"Yes. I would ask that you become the Avatar's Ally."

Jason thought about this.

"You don't have to answer right away. You can meet the Avatar first."

"Thank you."

"Stay out of trouble." Lin said leaving.

"No promises."

After Lin left Jason made his way to the streets.

He walked through the streets until he came to a building. He knocked on the door and was answered by a man wearing a suit.

"What?" The man asked.

"Is this the Agni Kai residence?" Jason asked.

"How did you find us?"

"Magnetism." Jason said flatly before kicking the door down.

"What's going on there!" A man yelled.

Jason ran through the building kicking thugs through walls.

He ran into a large room and saw a man in a red business suit.

"Are you here to try and take my business?"

"No. Quite the opposite really. I'm here to offer you protection."

"Protection? From whom?"

"From me."

The man threw a bolt of lightning at him

Jason held up his hand and caught the bolt before throwing a black bolt back at the man singeing the hair on the man's head. "Just so you know I was aiming at your hair, and I don't even need to use Bending to beat you."

"Really? I don't believe you."

Jason jumped over the table and punched the table in front of the Boss. cracking the wood in half.

The Boss looked at Jason. "I'm not impressed."

"Then what about the fact that I beat all of your grunts?"

"That would be impressive... If you did."

A body fell from the ceiling and threw a ball of fire at Jason sending him through the wall.

Jason jumped up and brushed himself off. "Well. It seems like one of you might be able to put up a fight."

"Thank you." A woman said walking through the dust.

"Hm. I can tell that you are formidable."

"I am the strongest member of the Agni Kai."

"I'll be the judge of that."

The woman flung a fireball at Jason.

Jason doused the fire with water.

"Are you the Avatar?"

"No, but apparently I can rival them."

"Prove it!"

Jason pulled a rock from the ground and threw it at the woman.

The rock exploded five feet from the woman.

"What! How?" The woman asked.

"I made the rock hollow and filled it with fire causing it to explode."

"That is not enough proof."

Jason created a ball inside of a ball inside of a ball and threw it at the woman.

The woman smacked the ball away but was hit with a trio of water balls. The first one hit her in the face, the second and third hit her shoulders soaking her top.

"Eh. Not what I thought it would do." Jason said kind disappointed.

"What was the purpose of that attack?"

"Eh. I thought... Ya know what I probably shouldn't tell you."

"Tell me!"

"Fine. I was hoping that it would have the same effect as a wet T-shirt contest." Jason said rubbing the back of his head."

"What is a wet T-shirt contest?"

"Well... Um... It's where women like yourself dump water on themselves and get judged."

"I do not understand this custom."

"It's kind of popular where I come from... if you know where to look."

"Hm. I would like to know more about this custom." The woman said sliding up to Jason.

"Um..." Jason said feeling uncomfortable.

The woman blasted Jason through a wall before she jumped at him and grabbed his head and smashed it in the ground.

Jason flipped sending the woman off his back, and into the floor. He straddled her. "You have been the biggest challenge since I got here."

The woman kneed Jason in the crotch.

Jason rolled so that she was sitting on him. "Well if you wanted to be on top then you just had to say so."

"UH! You are so infuriating!"

"I have been told that. Tell me. Does your insurance cover flooding damage?"

"What?"

The building flooded and the two were washed out of the building.

Jason used Earth Bending to get the high ground and froze everyone from the Triad. "Now that I have your attention, I would like to offer you protection from me."

Jason looked at the Triad members and passed out.

He woke up tied to a bed. He also realized something was very wrong.

He was naked.

The only thing covering him was a silk sheet.

The woman he'd been fighting walked out of the bathroom wearing a towel around her bust.

"Um." Jason said getting a feeling to where this was going.

"I'm glad that you're awake."

"And alive." Jason said. "Is there a reason why I'm not dead, or you know in a torture chamber or prison cell?"

"Because I said that I wanted to deal with you."

"And how exactly do you plan to deal with me?"

"By giving you your protection money."

Jason thought about that. "Okay you lost me."

"I'm going to give you your protection money... after giving you something to protect."

"What exactly is that?"

The woman dropped the towel giving Jason a good look at her nakedness. "A child of course."

"Oh fuck."

"That's the plan." The woman said walking towards Jason and ripping the sheet off.

Jason walked into his second base that night and went to bed hoping the day would turn out to be a nightmare.

When he woke up, he realized that it wasn't a nightmare.

"That's just great." He said.

He walked out and saw three large bags of money sitting outside his base. He created two large metal boxes and put the money in them before burying them.

He left his base and grabbed some fruit to eat on the way to the Agni Kai Triads.

When he got there, he was led to the room with the boss, but this time the woman was there.

"Good to see you." The Boss said. "Did you get your money?"

"Yes sir. I assume that you had people follow me to find out where I live in order to deliver it?"

"I'm glad, and yes. Yesterday we were going to kill you, but my daughter had a carefully crafted plan in order to keep you on our side."

"Yeah. Raping me to get pregnant with my child so I will fight for the Agni Kai Triad. Smart."

"It wasn't all bad." The woman said. "Was it?"

"What's the deal?" Jason asked.

"Deal? I don't understand." The Boss said. "You fight to protect my grandchild, and you get paid to do so. Other than that, you live your life."

"That's it?"

"That's it."

"Well then. I guess that I will be leaving."

"Wait." The woman said walking up to him. She kissed him before saying. "Make sure to visit when you get lonely. My bed is always open."

Jason left the house and went back to his base. He took out some of the money and headed to the Pro-Bending Arena.

When he got there, he found the building manager.

"I have an associate who told me you were in some financial trouble?"

"Yes sir." The man said nervously.

"What's wrong? Did he kill again?"

"Yes. He buried the man alive."

"Damn it."

"Don't worry. The man won't be missed."

"Um. Okay."

"He would bribe people to look the other way. Not all of it was for Pro-Bending. I never should have listened to him."

"It's all right sir. I know a little something about moral grey areas. How much do you need to keep your Arena afloat?"

"I'm not sure."

Jason put a bag on the table. "Will this work?"

The manager nearly lost his eyes when he saw the money. "Yes. This will help."

"Good. Keep this place open. I enjoy listening to it on the radio."

"Would you like tickets for every match?"

"What? You mean like season passes?"

"I don't know what that is but sure."

"Okay."

"What's your name so I can tell them to leave you two tickets each game."

"Jason Todd."

"Thank you, Mr. Todd."

"You're welcome sir."

Jason left for his base.

When he got there Chief Beifong was waiting for him.

"What can I do for you chief?"

"A source tells me that you joined up with the Triads."

"Not really. I'm doing a protection racket for the Red Monsoons, but I may have accidentally joined up with the Agni Kai Triad."

"What do you mean?"

"So, I go over to the Agni Kai Triad house and tried to do the protection racket over there. I was doing really good until this Lady showed up, and I exhausted myself fighting her."

"Go on." Lin said in barely controlled annoyance.

"So, I pass out and when I wake up, I'm tied spread Eagle in a bed completely naked."

"Why?" Lin asked concerned.

"She had this crazy plan that if she were to become pregnant with my kid then I would have to protect the Agni Kai's because my child is there."

"Do you realize that I could arrest you for pulling a protection scam?"

"Yes, but you won't because it's the Triads."

"Leave the other Triads alone so you don't end up having to protect all of them."

Jason realized that if something like that happened at the other Triads then he might actually have to do that.

"Okay. I won't try taking on the Triads anymore."

"Good. So, what will you do?"

"I'm going to travel around the city, maybe build a few more bases like this."

"Stay out of trouble." Lin said before leaving.

Jason left the base and headed to the factory district.

Once there he found an abandoned factory and went to work, but this time he built the base, and hid it underground.

With that done he went and bought another radio and lamp.

He put them in the third base and headed back to the second.

When he got there, he saw the woman from the Agni Kai Triad.

"What are you doing here?" He asked harshly.

"I wanted to see you again."

"Why?"

"You're the only one who has ever been able to hold your own against me. When I saw that you could hold your own against me, I knew that I wanted you."

"And if I happen to find someone other than you?"

"I am willing to share if they are."

"And if they aren't?"

"May the best woman win."

There was silence for a few minutes.

"Do you know why I chose you to be our child's father?"

"Because I was the guy who held his own against you?"

"Partially. I saw the real you in that fight. I saw the compassion and strength, and I knew that I wanted a child like that."

"Keep it away from crime otherwise that strength and compassion you admire will be replaced with greed and lust."

"I can feel it you know; I can feel the life that we worked together to make."

"You fucking raped me for that life! How does that turn into a life we made? I didn't consent to waking up naked on a bed while you fucked me!"

"I know, and I'm sorry. I should have gotten your consent, but it was the only way that I could convince my father to let you live."

"So somehow your father told the Triad to kill me unless you raped me?"

"No... maybe... yes... I don't know. I told him that I had a way to ensure that you would work for us, and he said that you could live. He was going to kill you right there, but I convinced him not to."

"and that way was to get pregnant with my child to insure I would protect it." Jason said connecting the dots.

"Yes."

Jason wiped his face and slid down the wall of the base. "I want to be part of our child's life." He finally said. "I never knew my father, and I don't want any child I sire to not know me."

"I can arrange that."

"I also don't want it knowing what your family does. I don't want it growing up in crime."

"That one will be a little harder to arrange, but I can try."

"And if anything happens to us, I want the child taken care of. I don't want it to be out on the streets, I don't want it given to the Agni Kai Triad, I want someone who will raise it right. I want it to have a better childhood than I had."

"What was your childhood like?"

"My dad was sent to jail, my mom died from drugs, I was left on the street until someone who gave a damn found me and took me in. Then when I was fifteen, I was killed."

"What? How did you come back?"

"I was brought back to life after I was sent into a pit of mythical water, but I came back angry and broken. I trained for five years to become the most dangerous version of myself and after that I went on a killing and crime spree. I snapped out of it a year later and tried to become a better person. I stopped killing and did become the best version of myself that I could... that is until I met my father's killer and killed him."

"You avenged your father. How is that a bad thing?"

"Because I said that I wouldn't kill ever again, and I did."

"I promise that I won't let our child grow up like that, and I won't keep them from you."

"Thanks, I guess."

Jason pushed himself up and opened his base and walked in.

The woman stood outside the base.

"I suppose you can come in. There's not much to steal, and if you did, I would just buy a new one."

She walked in and looked around. "You live here?"

"Yeah. I've never really needed much. I'll take the couch. There's a futon in the bedroom. It's not the nicest, but it's better than sleeping on the floor."

The woman grabbed his hand and pulled him into the bedroom. "I want to do this right."

"A little late for that isn't it?"

"Please?"

Jason relented and went with her.

"My name is Halo." She said as she laid down.

"My name is Jason."

"Jason. I like that name. It suits you."

"Thanks, I guess."

The two stayed up talking late into the night.

The next morning Jason woke up to the sounds of banging against the base. He jumped out of bed and opened the door ready to fight, but it was Agni Kai Triad members.

"Oh. It's you guys."

"Yes. Have you seen the Boss's daughter?"

"Yeah. She stayed here last night. Why?"

The thugs went into the room and dragged Halo out.

"Hey!" Jason yelled. "The hell do you think you are doing?"

"Now that she is pregnant, she has to be kept safe. The heir to the Agni Kai Triad needs to be kept safe."

Jason looked at Halo, and the two shared a horrified look.

"What do you mean?" Jason asked.

"The Boss wants his grandchild safe. Don't worry. You'll still get your money."

Jason watched as Halo left with the thugs. Why did he feel so empty all of the sudden?

He left the base and walked to the Dragon Flats District.

On his way there he saw a man talking about how evil Benders were.

"Tell me." Jason said. "Why do you think Benders are evil?"

"Are you a Bender?"

"No." Jason lied easily. "But I have plenty of friends who are Benders. What makes them so evil?"

"They oppress us non-Benders and make it harder for us to work."

"Yet here you are making it harder for the Benders by trying to get non-Benders to hate them."

"It's no less than they deserve for what they do to us. The Triads make us pay protection money to protect our shops. How is that fair to us non-Benders?"

"I suppose it's not really fair, but my point still stands. You aren't working. You're just standing around yelling about how unfair life is because you aren't a Bender. Why don't you pull your head out of your ass and do something with your life rather than bitch and moan. Life screws all of us, and there are only two things you can do. Either you can let life fuck you in the ass, or you can fuck life back. You're a pathetic waste of my time." Jason said stalking away.

When he made it to the Drago Flats District, he found an abandoned warehouse and went in. He made an underground base in that one too and went to buy some furniture, a radio, and a lamp.

He paid the men to leave it at the abandoned warehouse and not ask questions. Then he went and waited.

After the men dropped the furniture off, he moved the furniture inside.

He didn't know why he bought brand new furniture for this base, but he figured that it had something to do with Halo. If he ended up with their child, they could hide out here.

When he was done making the base look more like a house, he left heading back to his second base.

That night he laid awake wondering why he cared so much about Halo.

The next day he was walking back to his original base he heard something in an alleyway. He turned down the alleyway and saw five or six guys attacking one guy.

"HEY!" He yelled running at them.

One of the guys looked up in time to see Jason's fist connect with their face breaking their cheekbone.

Jason turned the punch into a flip that sent his foot into another guy's head sending him face first into the ground. He turned around and saw the other four guys turn to him. Three of them dropped into fighting stances, and the fourth one grabbed a knife.

Jason kicked a rock at the guy with the knife hitting him in the balls and sending him to the floor.

The other three ran at him together.

Jason kicked the first one's kneecap breaking it and sending his knee into the guys face.

The other two swung at him at the same time but missed when he ducked.

Jason spun around and punched each guy in their legs dropping them to the ground and punched them in their throats.

The guy with the knife had staggered to his feet and slashed at Jason cutting him across his back.

"AHH!" Jason yelled more in surprise than pain. He spun around and punched the guy in the throat.

The guy dropped to his knees before Jason kicked him on his back.

Jason called on the water molecules in the air to heal the cut. He'd have to remember to wear the armor next time he went out.

The guy that the others were beating up groaned.

"Don't worry buddy. I've got ya." Jason said before he picked the guy up and carried him through the streets back to his primary base.

When they got there, he laid the guy on the bed. He'd have to get a healer. He needed to talk to Beifong.

He put on his armor and left.

When he got to the police station, he found Chief Beifong.

"Hey. Chief." He whispered.

"Yes... Get in here!" Beifong whisper yelled.

Jason walked into the office.

"What are you doing here? People think that you are dead!"

"I stopped a mugging, but I need to find a healer."

"What, are you hurt?"

"No, but the guy I helped is."

"Take him here." Beifong said handing him a pamphlet.

"Republic City Memorial Hospital." Jason read the title. "Okay. Thank you."

"Just don't show your face around here again. As far as they are concerned, you're dead."

"I won't." Jason said leaving.

Jason went back to his Base and grabbed the guy before running to the hospital.

When he got there, he ran into the hospital and placed the guy on a gurney.

"Do you know anything about him?" The nurse asked.

Jason took the man's passport out of his belt pouch and showed her the name.

"Azin." The nurse said. "What is your connection to him?"

"Six guys were attacking him. I stopped them."

"Are you going to pay for his medical treatment?"

"What does that have to do with it?"

"We can't offer someone treatment unless they can pay."

Jason took out a stack of bills and out it on the counter. "Will that cover it?"

"And then some." The nurse said shocked.

"Good. Take care of him."

"Aren't you going to wait for him?"

"I'll be back. I have some questions that need answered."

Jason left and found the alleyway that he'd found Azin in.

He found the guy's still there after their beatdown and grabbed one. "Why did you guy's attack Azin?"

"He wouldn't hand his sister over."

"Why did you want her... wait don't answer that because I might kill you if you do. Instead answer where she went."

"She ran that way when Azin started fighting us."

Jason slammed the guy into the wall. "Say goodbye vermin." He said opening the ground enough to swallow them. He closed the ground over them and went in the direction the guy told him.

He walked for a few minutes before he heard crying. He looked around and found a girl who couldn't be more twelve years old. "Hey there. Are you Azin's sister?"

The girl looked startled that he knew her brother.

"Look. I know that you have absolutely no reason to trust me, but your brother was hurt and is in the hospital. I can take you there."

The girl scooted away.

Jason looked at her. "I'm going to be right back with some food okay."

She was scared but didn't run away.

Jason came back a few minutes later with some food and water. He also brought some new clothes. "Here you go."

Jason walked away to the wall, so he was far enough away to give her space, but close enough in case someone tried to grab her.

She came out a few minutes later having changed into the outfit and eating an apple Jason had bought her.

"Hey." Jason said. "Would it be all right if I take you to see your brother now?"

The girl looked at Jason and nodded.

Jason held out his hand and she took it.

the two walked back to the hospital, and Jason got them back to see Azin.

When they got to Azin's bed the girl crawled inside next to him.

A nurse came in and pulled the girl out of the bed. "Look at you, you're filthy." She began dragging the girl towards the bathroom in the room, and she began panicking.

Jason grabbed the girl and pushed the nurse away. "I'll handle it?"

"That girl needs cleaned before she infects a patient with something!"

"I said that I would handle it."

"You are not a nurse."

"No, but I know what she's gone through, and the last thing she needs is a bossy lady forcing her into uncomfortable situations."

"Fine!" The nurse said stalking away.

"That was scary wasn't it?" Jason asked.

The girl nodded.

"Here. You need to take a bath. I promise that I won't do anything but get the water ready. You can even watch me, so I don't do something you don't like, is that okay?"

The girl nodded again.

Jason went into the bathroom and began filling the tub, but the water was cold. "Come here and tell me when the temperature is just right." Jason said using his fire to heat the water.

The girl put her hand in the water and pulled it out a few seconds later shaking it.

"Is it too hot?"

The girl nodded.

Jason drained the water and started again.

The girl put her hand in the water when he started Fire Bending and shook it out again.

"Still too hot?"

The girl nodded.

Jason started again, and used his Fire Bending a little at a time.

The girl felt it and nodded at him.

Jason stopped and walked out. "I'll be outside if you need anything." He said.

Jason waited about five minutes before the girl came out in a towel and pointed at the tub. He looked at the water and saw that it was filthy. He drained the tub and used Water Bending to clean it out before filling it up again.

They girl pushed Jason out of the bathroom and took another bath.

Jason waited until the girl tugged on his shirt. He looked at her and she pointed at her hair.

"Do you want me to comb your hair?"

The girl shook her head.

"Do you want me to dry your hair?"

The shook her head again.

"Do you want me to wash your hair?"

the girl nodded.

Jason walked into the bathroom and helped the girl wash her hair in the sink making sure to get the nots and tangles out.

He made sure to scrub soft enough not to hurt, but hard enough to clean it.

When he was done the girl wrapped her hair in a towel and dried it.

She hugged Jason and sat down while he cleaned out the tub.

Jason took the outfit he bought her and began washing it in the tub with boiling hot water.

"Doesn't that hurt?" The girl asked, speaking for the first time.

"No. Being a Fire Bender lets you touch things that are hot without needing protection."

"That must be nice. Earth Benders and Water Benders can't do that."

"But Water Benders can shoot through the water and all that cool stuff, and Earth Benders can do some crazy stunts with vehicles if they want to."

"Maybe."

"So which type of Bender are you?"

"I'm a Water Bender, and Azin is an Earth Bender."

"I can help you guys train, so you don't have to be afraid anymore."

"What can you teach us?"

"I can bend Earth, Fire, and Water."

"Really? Are you the Avatar?"

"No. I'm not the Avatar, but I think I'm supposed to help them."

"Why?"

"Apparently there is this prophecy that says I will either be the Avatar's greatest Ally or strongest enemy of something like that."

"Okay. Can I go sit with my brother now?"

"Yeah."

They walked outside and the girl jumped into bed next to her brother while Jason sat in the chair next to the bed.

"Hello?" A Healer knocked on the door before entering.

"Yeah." Jason said standing up.

"I'm sorry, but are you their legal guardian?"

"Yes." Jason lied. "I was in the Military when I got news that our parents had died, and I was next of Kin. It took me a while to get back, but I was transferred to the Republic City Police Department under Lin Beifong so I could provide for them."

"I see. I'm going to call Chief Beifong to confirm your story. What's your name?"

"Jason Todd, but she might know the name I gained in the military."

"And what's that?"

"Red Hood."

"I'll ask her." the doctor said before leaving.

"Why did you do that?" The girl asked.

"Because if I didn't, and this doesn't work then you guys would, and might end up in an orphanage separated, and I know what happens when kids like you get separated."

"Why would you put yourself on the line like that for us?"

"Because I've been in your shoes, and it sucks."

"My name is Baani." The girl said.

"Hey Baani. If this doesn't work then hold on because It will get really crazy, really fast."

The doctor came back ten minutes later with Lin.

"There you are Mr. Todd." Lin said. "I see that you were able to get your siblings taken care of."

"Yes sir, Chief."

"Come by the office later so we can finish the paperwork making your transfer official."

"Of course, Chief."

"If there is nothing else could I speak to my officer alone?" Lin asked.

"Of course." The doctor said leaving.

When they were sure the doctor was gone Lin looked at Jason and scowled. "What the hell is wrong with you!" She whisper yelled.

"I wasn't going to let these kids get sent away and separated." Jason whispered back.

"Well now both out necks are on the line thanks to you."

"Don't worry. I will slip away, and not bother you again after this."

"No. Now that you are a member of the police, I need to swear you in." Lin said handing him a packet. "Congratulations. You are the first undercover cop. You only take secret assignments that are approved through me, and you will get released from your duty when and if I retire."

"So basically, do what I'm doing right now only I get paid for it."

"Yes. It keeps you away from the police station and gives you the authority to act so you aren't committing vigilante acts."

"Thanks?" Jason asked.

"You're welcome. There are also the records there so you can legally adopt them as your brother and sister. It's bending the law a little, but I hate the fact that the Orphanage separates families."

"Maybe that's a side project I can work on." Jason said signing the paperwork and handing it back to Lin. "I know that you are putting your neck on the line right now, but thanks."

"Just try and stay out of trouble."

"I will try."

"Liar." Lin said before leaving.

Jason sat down blowing out a puff of air.

"Is it true?" Baani asked. "Did you really adopt us to save us from being separated?"

"Yeah. That is if you want me to adopt you."

Baani jumped into Jason's arms and started crying into his chest. "We have a family again!" She sobbed into his chest.

Jason hugged Baani until she cried herself to sleep.

Azin woke up and looked around.

He was in a hospital room. "Where..." He looked over and saw Baani sleeping on a police officer's chest. 'Great. Now they are going to send us to an orphanage where they will separate us.'

He moved trying to sit up, but he was too sore to move.

"You okay?" The officer asked.

"Not really, but why would you care about a couple of street urchins you're just going to send to the orphanage?" Azin groaned.

"Because as far as anyone knows you guys are my younger siblings whose parents died after they were killed, and I was in the military."

"Why did you lie for us?"

"Because I've been in your shoes. Not knowing what tomorrow would bring, where your next meal would come from, who was a friend or a foe, why the universe hates you, when would be the day you died, how were you going to survive? Any of those questions ring a bell?"

"Yeah. All of them."

"Well. Starting today you don't have to ask those questions anymore. I'll be taking care of you."

"Until you get tired of us and kick us out."

"Nope. You guys are stuck with me for a while."

"I'll believe it when someone who's not the Avatar can bend more than one element."

Jason looked at the kid.

"Don't tell me you can bend more than one Element."

"Three." Jason said.

"I call bullshit."

Jason created a black fireball in his hand, sent the cable on his armor flying, and pulled the water molecules in the air to create a ball of water.

"No way." The kid said in awe. "How did you get the fire to look black?"

"I think it's because I have a lot of negative emotions connected to my death."

"Oh. How did you die?"

"I don't think that's a story you want to hear right now."

"Okay."

A nurse came in and looked Azin over before getting the doctor.

"It seems like you are going to be sore for a few days, but I want to keep you another night for observation."

"Okay." Jason said.

"We could bring in one or two more beds if you would be more comfortable that way."

Baani woke up and stretched. She looked up at Jason and smiled before looking at Azin. "Azin! You're awake!" She yelled jumping from Jason to Azin's bed. "I'm so glad you're awake. When you told me to run, I thought you..."

Azin held Baani. "It's all right Baani. Jason is the one who saved me."

Baani jumped at Jason. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She said.

"You're welcome. Do you want to get something to eat?"

"What about Azin?"

Jason looked at the doctor. "Can he walk around?"

"He will be sore, but I don't see why not."

"What about a wheelchair?"

"I'll get one."

Jason walked beside Baani as she pushed Azin's wheelchair towards the Cafeteria.

When they got there, they got their food and took it to a table.

"So." Jason said. "Tell me about yourselves."

"Well." Azin said. "My name is Azin and I'm fifteen, and this is Baani. She's twelve."

"I'm Jason and I'm twenty-seven. What happened to your parents?"

"They died three years ago. We were coming here when a storm capsized the boat we were on. Baani and I have been on the streets ever since."

"Sorry to hear that."

"It's all right." Baani said. "We were on the streets for a while when this guy came up and said that he would take care of us, but he only wanted me. We ran away, and he's been looking for us ever since."

"Can you tell me about this guy?"

"Yeah." Azin said. "Or you can ask him yourself. He's at the table behind you."

Jason looked over to see a man wearing a pair of hospital pajama's looking at them. He looked like he just pissed himself.

Jason got up and walked over to the guy's table. "Hey." He said in a low voice. "Is there a reason why you were after my sister?"

"I uh. I um." The guy couldn't speak.

Jason used his metal bending to pull the guy's knife to him, and he began looking it over. "I asked you a question."

The guy looked terrified.

"Is there a problem over here?" An orderly asked.

"Yeah. What is this guy's problem? He won't speak when I asked him a question."

"He can't speak officer."

"What is he in here for?"

"Someone attacked the restaurant he was eating at a few nights ago and he was caught in the fight."

"I see. Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Jason walked back to the table.

"Why didn't you do anything?" Baani asked.

"Have either of you heard of Karma?"

"No."

"Basically, it keeps the world in Balance."

"Like the Avatar?" Baani asked.

"Sure. You can look at it that way. It's the Avatar of the universe."

"Cool."

They ate in silence and walked around the hospital before going back to their room where they put two more beds in for Jason and Baani.

They spent the day in the hospital, and when they left the next day, they walked to the abandoned movie theatre.

"What are we doing here?" Azin asked.

"This is where we are staying for a few days until I can buy an actual house."

"But it's so old."

They walked inside and saw the metal building.

"Whoa." Baani said. "Do you live here?"

"Yeah."

"What does it look like on the inside?"

They walked inside and were shocked at the interior.

"You made this?"

"Yeah. come out here for a second."

They walked back outside, and Jason opened the east wall and made it longer before closing it again.

He walked to the north wall and opened it before expanding it as well.

He did the same thing to the south and west walls making the base almost twice as large as it was.

When they went inside Jason moved the furniture around and made two more rooms with bathrooms.

"This is only for a few days until I can buy a house. I made this as a base because I wasn't sure how long I was going to be here, but I can't make you guys live my lifestyle."

"Thank you." Azin said. "For everything."

"You're welcome. Now who wants to go house hunting?"

"ME!" Baani yelled.

Jason opened the floor and pulled the box out before pulling out a few stacks of money, ad putting more in a bag and throwing it over his back.

"Whoa." Baani said. "You're rich."

"I do have money, but just because you have money doesn't make you rich. Remember that."

They left the base and went shopping for a new outfit for Azin before they went to find a house.

They found several houses for sale, and looked through many of them, but finally found a house that they all agreed on.

It was three stories with a basement, and a large backyard. The bedrooms were nice and had several good views.

When Jason told the realtor that he would buy the house the realtor began laughing.

"I'm sorry sir, but there is no way you could afford this house. It's just too expensive for someone with your fashion sense."

Jason pulled out the stacks of money he had taken. "Is this enough for the house or just the down payment?"

The realtors laugh turned into a coughing fit.

"I'll take that as a yes?"

The realtor counted each stack. "One hundred thousand Yuan's? That is about a third of what the house cost."

"Okay then." Jason said reaching for his bag.

He pulled out the rest of the money and paid for the house in full.

The realtor was shocked that Jason carried that much money around.

"Do you have the keys to the house?" Jason asked.

The realtor handed Jason the key, and they walked into the house. "Can you just sign the paperwork?" The realtor asked putting the paperwork on the table.

"Sure." Jason said signing the paperwork for the house. "Let's go guys. We have some shopping to do."

They went to a furniture store and bought three full bedroom sets complete with bedding, a dining room table with chairs, couches, chairs, coffee tables, dishes, clothes and hangers, cooking utensils, cookware, and food.

"Do you think you bought enough?" Azin asked.

"No." Jason said. "I'm sure that we forgot some stuff and will be back here by the end of the week, but hey. It's a good start, right?"

"I guess."

"Great. We can take the food and clothes back home, but they will have to deliver pretty much everything else."

"So, does this mean we are sleeping at the base tonight?"

"Unless they can deliver tonight."

"Sorry." The manager said, but the earliest we can deliver it is the day after tomorrow."

"No problem." Jason said.

They each grabbed what they could and walked back to the house.

When they got to the house they went to their rooms and put their clothes up, and Jason started fixing dinner.

"So." Baani asked. "What are we going to do tomorrow?"

"I figured that we would go out and walk through the city." Jason said.

"Okay. Sounds good to me."

They are dinner and went to bed.

That night Jason woke up when he heard the floorboards creak. He created a fireball and saw Azin and Baani in his doorway.

"Couldn't sleep?" He asked.

"No." Baani said. "I kept having a nightmare that you left us."

"Come on."

They went over to Jason and laid on either side of him.

'This is odd, but I think I can get used to it.' Jason thought to himself.

The next morning Jason made breakfast and they left the house after taking showers and getting dressed.

They were walking around when they heard a girl say, "We'll take one of everything please."

"That will be twenty Yuan's." The lady said.

"Oh. I don't have any money." The girl said.

"Then what good are you to me!" The lady demanded.

"Hungry?" Jason asked.

"Yeah. Both Naga and I are."

"Well let's see what we can do about that." Jason said as he walked to the booth. "Hello." He said. "How much could I get for this?" He asked handing her fifty Yuan's.

"I'll make you a to go box." The woman said.

Jason took the box and they walked through town until they found a place to eat in a shopping area.

"Thank you." The girl said. "I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't shown up."

"I hope it's good we don't find out." Jason said. "My name is Jason. This is my brother Azin and my sister Baani."

"Hello. I'm Korra."

"Nice to meet you Korra." Jason said.

"Hi." Azin said.

Baani looked nervously at Korra. "Hello." She said meekly.

"Hi. It's very nice to meet you."

A red car pulled into the shopping area and three guys got out. They walked over to a shop and began demanding protection money.

Korra got up and walked over to them while Jason crushed their car with his Metal Bending.

"What the hell are you doing?" The leader asked.

Jason got up. "My job. Leave these people alone or I will make you regret coming here"

A Fire Bender threw a gout of fire at Jason who caught it in his black flames and absorbed it.

A Water Bender threw a water bullet at Korra, but she caught it and threw it back freezing the guy's head before kicking him into the wreckage of his car and smashing the ice.

An Earth Bender made a move, but Jason threw a hollow rock that exploded next to his face.

Korra used her Earth Bending to knock the guy into the air and Jason used his Metal Bending to grab the guy and pull him towards him.

"That was amazing." Korra said. "You used two elements."

"And you used two." Jason said.

"What are you?" They asked in unison.

They laughed at each other, but Jason caught the three Triad Members and used Earth Bending to wrap the street around them. "Wait here. The cops will be here shortly." He said shooting black lightning into the sky.

Korra, Jason, Azin, and Baani walked to the docks where Korra Swam to Air Temple Island.

"Glad she didn't destroy the City?" Jason asked Beifong who was standing behind him.

"Yes, but I have a question for you."

"What is it?"

"How good are you at interrogations?"

"Depends on what you want."

"There are four criminals who have information I want."

"How long have you been asking?"

"Thirteen years."

"Whoa. I guess that I need to brush up on the old me then."

"So, you can get me the information I want?"

"Do you want them alive afterwards?"

"So long as you get me what I want I don't care. That's how dangerous these Criminals are."

"I need to find someone to take care of Azin and Baani while I'm gone."

"Good. I know just the person you can ask."

"Really? Who?"

"She just swam off to Air Temple Island."

"Korra?"

"Yes. The criminals I want you to interrogate want her dead."

"Jason." Baani said. "You can't let them hurt Korra. I know we just met, but she was really nice."

"I need something from you Chief."

"What is it?"

"Do you have some metal from the car I crushed?"

"It was crushed. Why do you need it?"

"I need to make a new helmet."

Lin became quiet for a while. "I have something for you down at the police station. I'll be right back."

With that Lin left.

Korra came back a few minutes after Lin left.

"Hey Jason." She said.

"Hey Korra. So, what happened with the island?"

"Tenzin said he wouldn't train me in Air Bending yet."

"Oh. I thought you knew Air Bending."

"No. It's the only one I still need to learn."

"Okay. Um I hate to ask you this, especially when we just met, but could you please babysit Azin and Baani for me while I'm at work? I can pay you, but I just got asked to do a last-minute job."

"Um sure I guess."

"Great. After the chief gets back with my stuff then I'll take you back to our house and give you some advance pay."

"Okay. I guess."

Lin came back five minutes later with a box and a packet.

Jason opened the box and saw a red helmet with an opaque red face screen. "Thank you chief."

"Just get me what I want, and we'll call it even."

"You got it chief." Jason said putting on his Red Hood helmet for the first time in a year.
