There was chaos in Nimbasa City and Touko found herself in the middle of it. Subway Boss Ingo had been forced into a wormhole by some unknown Pokemon and Subway Boss Emmet had become completely inconsolable as a result. The Battle Subway had been shut down as a result and many lines were now unusable as the International Police tried to figure out what exactly had happened. To everyone's surprise, Touya had found himself doing much of the organizing work of trying to keep the station running with the help of more experienced conductors. Touko suspected that so many people listened to him because he was related to her, the now former champion of Unova.
Within the last month, Touko had transitioned out of the position and had handed it to Iris, who had become such a skilled trainer that Touko had been happy to give her the reins. Besides, N was supposed to be coming back soon and they had agreed to start the rehabilitation ranch as soon as he returned.
Still, instead of meeting him where they had agreed to meet up for his return, Touko found herself in Nimbasa, assisting her brother any way she could.
She and Elesa were taking turns doing a pseudo-battle subway for visitors to Nimbasa who had come for the attraction. Touko ran single battles while Elesa did double battles, since Touko had a Chandelure and Elesa had a Galvantula they could at least partially simulate the teams' people would face when going up against the Subway Bosses. While there were complaints by the people who traveled from other regions when they came to realize that they would be battling the world-famous model Elesa and the hero of Unova Touko most people became less upset. It wasn't enough to completely mollify all the visiting trainers but it did the job for most of them.
It had been a long day and Touko found herself wandering the amusement park by Elesa's gym, trying to clear her mind from the day's events. It had now been over a week since Ingo had vanished and Touya told Touko that while Emmet was still severely depressed by what had happened he was starting to come around. He hoped that by the end of next week, Emmet might be able to return to Gear Station, but it was a long shot. Touko nodded as she listened to her brother, clearly full of worry for his boss, though she wasn't sure if there wasn't something else there as well. She promised Touya that she would stay in Nimbasa for however long he needed her to be here and he looked greatly relieved by this. She was glad to take some of the pressure off of him.
She smiled weakly as she sat down under the Ferris wheel and looked up at it. It had gotten dark out so the Ferris wheel lit up the sky with beautiful lights. She found herself remembering the first time she had gone up it, with N, over 2 years ago. Maybe she should do it again for old times' sake. She started to get up when she saw a hand stretch out to her, "Let's ride the Ferris Wheel. I love Ferris Wheels, don't you?"
Touko looked up eyes wide as she stared at "N!" She jumped into his arms, wrapping hers around his neck as he squeezed her middle tightly in a warm hug. "N, you're here!" She said as she leaned in to kiss him on the lips. She could feel her cheeks grow wet and she pulled away to the realization that she was crying. "I'm so sorry, I know I promised to meet you in Nuvema but Touya needed me after Ingo vanished. I tried calling you to tell you but I couldn't reach you. What happened?"
"I'm sorry, that was my fault," N said, placing a kiss on Touko's forehead. "I left Orre three days ago and on day two my phone smashed as me and Reshim flew over a mountain. I was too far from anyone to get a new one. I'm sorry." As he spoke he left kisses on her forehead, cheeks, nose, and neck, and everywhere on her face but her lips so that he wouldn't lose his train of thought as he explained himself. "Can you forgive me?"
"Of course, I can forgive you." Touko said, snuggling into N further, "But how did you know I was here?"
"Bianca told me when I landed in Nuvema. She told me about what happened to Ingo and how you were helping your brother as he tried to get everything back to some sort of running order." N frowned as he released Touko, "How is Emmet doing?" concern evident on his face.
Touko shook her head, "Not well, according to Touya, though I haven't seen him myself. Elesa and Touya are the only ones who can really see him regularly. Elesa doesn't like talking about it."
"I see," N looked thoughtfully at Touko, "We should try to see him then. Maybe tomorrow? It's far too late now."
"I'll talk to Touya about it, it might not be a bad idea." Touko nodded her agreement. "But for now, we should do something, just the two of us."
"How about we start by riding the Ferris wheel then and work out the rest after?" N suggested smiling slyly at her.
Touko laughed, "I like that idea, let's do that."
And hand in hand they walked over to the Ferris wheel and rode it as they talked and laughed the night away, happy to bask in each other's company once more, hopefully, this time, forever.
THE END
