CHAPTER 13

"He's a real winner Kayla." Dwayne stated with an annoyed tone as he opened his locker room door and dropped his gym bag to the left of him on the floor.

He could hear Kayla sigh as she followed behind him, closing the door. "Look I know he can be a jerk sometimes but-"

Dwayne cut her off and turned to face her "No, there's no buts, he's a jerk that's it!"

Kayla sighed and knew Dwayne was just letting off steam since last night when he found out her baby's father was Randy, he was pissed to say the least. "That's not it Dwayne, there more to Randy than-"

Once again she was cut off mid sentence "Oh so what now your defending him?" He questioned with an eyebrow raised "The guy whom you've told me plenty times has caused you pain?"

For a moment she sat there, he was right. He caused her pain and sadness but in between that she couldn't forget some of those rare nights where he would show such a different side to him and that's the Randy she was defending. "I know this Dwayne but he's my baby's father and truthfully you can't help who you fall in love with."

Dwayne had no comeback for what she had just said. He sighed and sat down next to her on the bench in the locker room. "I agree." He stated simply and now felt he was being a bit too harsh with her "it was just a shock finding out he was the one you spent your nights with, he was the one you made this arrangement with, he was the one you fell in love with, and now he's your baby father."

Kayla tilted her head in sympathy toward Dwayne, she knew it did more than shock him it hurt him because she also knew Dwayne had always liked her since the day they met when she did her first story line including him. "I don't want to hurt you and I never did which is why I chose to not lie to you cause if I did and led you on, let you think I was over Randy and getting feelings for you, it would have."

Dwayne just smiled a boyish smile, his beautiful smile he always gives her and leaned in kissing the top of her forehead "I know beautiful."

When he saw her smile in acknowledgment and give him a warm side hug, he asked "So what's the plan? When are you going to tell Randy?"

She bit her lower lip, now looking down at the floor, almost not wanting to say what she was about to say. "I was telling John and Nikki..." she paused and took a deep breath "I may not tell him."

"I swear to God man, one of these days Dwayne is going to wish he never met Kayla!" A very angry Randy stormed through Johns locker room door.

John turned around from packing his bag, and looked up at his furious best friend with a shake of the head "So I guess you forgot how to knock now?"

Randy rolled his eyes and sat with a huff on the steel chair near John "I can't believe she's actually with that asshole."

John shook his head "Oh yeah?" He paused "Why who should she be with?" John questioned, sending a smirk to him.

Deep down Randy wanted so badly to answer that question truthfully, he wanted her to be with him, he wanted to be the one making her happy but he refused to believe that's how he felt and continued down the path of denial. Randy saw the look John gave him and snickered "What's that looks for? I could care less if she's with me or not."

John sighed and just decided to give up because he knew he wasn't going to win. Deciding to change the subject he asked "Man, why are you huffing and puffing and so pissed at him for right now anyway?"

Randy leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes letting his head fall back, almost in pure frustration "It's just that he thinks he's won something because he has her, acting like I did something wrong or lost something."

John raised a brow and sat on the bench near Randy "You did." As Randy was about to speak up and protest John continued "And don't Bullshit me and say you didn't, all she was to you was good sex and fun times because I know.." He paused and looked in his eyes "I know she was more."

Randy felt his emotions coming to the surface, he was so close to letting out how he truly felt but the arrogance and the fear of commitment got the best of him. "Man, you don't know anything." Randy protested

John just shook his head with a small chuckle "Would it be so bad to admit it to yourself that your actually in love with this girl and she's changed your mind about commitment?"

"Yes. Because I'm not and she hasn't." He stated calmly, just staring at the floor, never looking up at John once.

John just shrugged his shoulders "Whatever you say man but one day your going to regret it and come crying to me about how you were wrong and you missed out on so much because of it."

Randy just sighed and rolled his eyes, continuing to look at the floor "I doubt it.." He then paused to think of his next comment "besides what do you mean, missed out on so much?"

John cursed himself silently, he said too much. He just got up from the bench near Randy and ran a hand over his closely saved head "Nah, nothing man just-" He was suddenly cut off by a happy Nikki running through the door.

"Baby did you see that?! You saw my match!?" She smirked giving him a big kiss on the lips "your girls got moves right?" She mumbled against his lips, a smirk still spread on hers.

Randy shook his head at the display with a small laugh and a smirk "Damn John how do you deal with this one everyday?"

John laughed softly "It's called love, you should try it sometime man." He insinuated.

Nikki turned her body to face Randy and shot him a glare "No he's incapable of love, God forbid he opens his heart even a little bit." She pursed her lips together with confidence knowing her statement was true.

Randy just rolled his eyes "Why open myself to only one woman?" He questioned with a smirk.

Nikki looked at him with disgust "Jesus what did Kayla ever see in you?"

Randy kept the smirk on his face "Take your pick." He said moved his finger up and down his figure.

Nikki groaned and looked up at John "That's your best friend baby, you better protect him because there's only so much I can handle from this playboy." She huffed.

John sighed knowingly and shrugged his shoulder to his girlfriend, he then turned to Randy and asked "Seriously man you never think about the future and how you`ll end up?"

"Looks won't last all your life ya know lady killer." Nikki commented, putting great emphasize on lady killer.

Randy just smirked and took a sip of his water bottle "No I have thought about the future and yes Nikki I do know that, but why bother myself with all those thoughts now when I could just have fun?"

John and Nikki just looked at each other, they were speechless, they literally have given up on Randy at this point, they had no idea what to say or what to do in order to get him thinking strait. John was even more disappointed than Nikki, because he was standing up for Randy, he was trying to not make Randy seem like the bad guy all the time, Just earlier that night he was trying to convince Kayla that she absolutely needed to tell him he's her baby father and now he's wondering if he should be protecting him or standing up for him so much.

"I Cant do it!" A loud female voice was heard as the locker room door opened for the third time that night "I can't tell him and I've made my decision I'm not going to tell him!" Kayla blindly exclaimed as she walked towards Nikki and John completely oblivious to the fact that Randy sat five feet to the left of her.

Nikki`s eyes grew wide, while John just cleared his throat and looked down at the floor. With both their facial expressions Kayla became confused "Guys whats wr -?" she stopped and her heart leaped in her chest when she heard a voice coming from behind her.

"Hey Kay."

Kayla shut her eyes tightly and cursed herself for not paying attention before barging into Johns locker room, saying what she said. She cleared her throat and didn't even bother turning around to acknowledge Randy. She just licked her lips in frustration, she did not need to be running into him like this all the time, she looked up at both John and Nikki "You know what guys, Ill come back later." she told them in a calm tone.

Kayla turned around and walked toward the door, just as her hand encircled the knob to turn and open it, she heard…

"No its alright, Ill go, I have to get some rest for my meet and greet tomorrow anyway." Randy got up from where he sat, and said his goodbyes to Nikki and John, just as he reached the door where Kayla still stood his hand gently grazed her arm, her first thought was to yank her arm away from his touch but she couldn't, her heart was skipping beats and electricity was running through her veins. She felt his whisper in her ear "If you need to talk, you know you can call me." his lips brushed against her ear and his hand squeezed her arm gently before he stepped back and walked out the door.

Kayla let out the deep breathe she honestly didn't know she was holding and bit her lower lip 'why does he have such a strong effect on me? why can't I get over him?' she questioned herself in her mind.

"Looks like the getting over Randy plan is going really well." John stated sarcastically with a small chuckle, noticing the interaction that just happened between her and Randy.

Kayla shot John a glare. Man if looks could kill, John would be dead. "Fucking hilarious." she stated dryly with no amusement in her voice.

Nikki just shook her head and let a small smile play upon her lips "You know John loves messing with you girl."

"Honestly though Kay, how do you expect to move on with Dwayne if you are absolutely in love with Randy?" John questioned sitting down next to his friend.

Kayla sighed and put her head in her hands "Ugh.." she paused "I don't know, I was really hoping Dwayne could maybe take my mind off Randy and Id end up falling for him." she admitted "But regardless me and Dwayne aren't together anymore, at least not until I tell Randy about this." she stated rubbing her stomach gently.

Nikki smiled and rubbed her friends back in comfort "I thought you just came in here screaming you didn't want to tell him?"

"Yeah which by the way would have made for a very interesting night if you would have added 'that I'm pregnant' to the end of your sentence." John cut in.

Kayla rolled her eyes and knew John was right, that would have been the most terrible situation she could have out herself in. "And I don't want to tell him…"

"Then how is Dwayne going to accept you as his girl again?" Nikki questioned.

"I don't know if he will, I told him that I didn't want to tell Randy and he thought I was nuts, he didn't agree with my decision and said I was doing the wrong thing if I didn't tell him and he just stormed out of his own damn locker room." She confessed with a frustrated tone in her voice.

"And even knowing Dwayne may not accept you again you still don't want to tell Randy?" Nikki asked

"Lets also add in the fact that you will never know if Randy would have been happy about this and told you something you didn't expect." John added.

Kayla looked from John to Nikki and Nikki to John and shook her head "I still don't want to tell him."

John just looked at the floor and sighed, almost disappointed in his friend, he knew that when her mind was set, there was nothing he could do or say to change it. Nikki shrugged her shoulder as she looked over at the disappointed look on her boyfriends face. To be honest Nikki didn't want to say it but she didn't agree much with Kayla's decision either, after her and John talked earlier, she began to see no matter how much or a jerk Randy is, he's a dad and he deserves to know that.

"Kay.." Nikki began softly "I know I was on your side before, that I think Randy shouldn't be included in this either but now.." she looked at the expression on Kayla's face and knew that Kayla knew what she was going to say "I think your wrong, you should tell him, he's going to be a dad and have a baby, with you, you don't know how he would react."

Kayla now stood from her seat, angry at her best friends change in opinion "So everyone is against me now?" she questioned "I know how Randy would react and it would be the same way he reacted when I god forbid brought up us taking our relationship to another level and becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, So no I still am not changing my mind, I am NOT telling him." She stated firmly.

Nikki sighed and looked down at her lap, just fiddling with her fingers. Just then she heard Johns voice speak out "Alright fine." he spoke softly but with a firm voice "Then we cant stop you, and we can't butt in because it isn't our business either but let me ask you, what are you going to say to that baby when he/she asks where is her dad and why he didn't want to be with you guys?"

Kayla's features softened and her eyes held a sense of pain, she looked down at her 3 week stomach and rubbed tiny circles around it "Ill figure something out." she whispered

John nodded knowing very well she had no idea what she would do and asked again "Ok so how about when Randy finds out and asks why you never told him or included him on his baby's life?"

She shrugged "He's not going to find out."

Nikki now decided to cut in "Kay, hunnie, you work in the same company he does and you constantly come on the road with us, you are bound to run into him."

Kayla bit her lower lip "Actually I umm-" she was unsure of how to phrase her next sentence "I spoke to Vince earlier and set up a meeting with him and Stephaine for next week."

John looked at Nikki and Nikki at John with the same look of wonderment "About?" John asked

"I'm going to ask him if he will let me work from home, and write all the scripts from home, starting next month."
