Chapter 14

Feb 20th- Monday Night Raw:

Kayla's black stiletto heeled booties sounded their way through the back of the target center arena that night in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was at the moment getting ready to walk into the office to speak with Stephanie and Vince about her not going on the road with the team anymore and just working from home, she was hoping so much that they would be understanding. Not knowing made her nervous, in fact it made her so nervous that she had been biting the inside of her cheek for the past half hour.

What did keep her mind at ease was knowing that Randy would not be there that night, in fact he would not be on Monday night raw at all anymore, after last weeks show, some of her friends on the creative writing team decided to place him on Friday night Smackdown. She was just thankful she wouldn't have to run into him yet again this week, after almost letting out her secret last week, she was sure to keep a safe distance from him, although there was one thing she couldn't help but keep stuck in her mind, and it was what Randy said last Monday night before he left John locker room. "If you ever need to talk, you know you can call me." Those words kept ringing in her head and she couldn't help but wonder if he was sincerely being caring about her feelings or if he was just trying to be a playboy and hit on her for her to meet him in his hotel room that night?

She shook her head of all those thoughts once she reached the room she was looking for, she already heard Vince and Stephanie talking inside, and she swore she heard Hunters voice as well, most people know him better as Triple H. Kayla took a long and deep breath and looked down at her outfit which consisted of dark wash skinny faded jeans and a deep v-neck black sweater. She smiled to herself when she knew she looked good and lifted her hand to give a soft knock on the door.

She heard Stephanie's faint voice inside, which she thought said "That must be Kayla."

"Come in!" she heard the voice of Vince ring through her ears and opened the door to reveal Vince on one end of a couch and Stephanie and Hunter on another end sitting together with smiles on both their faces.

Hunter immediately rose to his feet "I think I remember this face." he stated playfully. "But I wouldn't know having not seen it in so long!" he let out a soft chuckle and walked over embracing her in a hug "How you doing Kayla?"

Kayla just smiled and hugged him back "Uh, Good." she paused a moment as Hunter led her over to the couch where his wife and father-in-law sat. "I mean, I could be better."

Stephanie then decided to cut in "Well we figured it must be important to want to have a meeting."

"Right the meeting…" Hunter stated then asked with hesitation "Kayla did you mind if I stayed or did you just want Steph and Vince to be here."

Kayla shook her head "No, No," she exclaimed "Please if you want to stay, Please do."

Earning a nod from Hunter and a smile from Stephanie she then turned her head to the voice of Vince "So What is it you needed to talk about Mrs. Brooks?"

Kayla cleared her throat and began "My life has taken a sudden change and I needed to ask of a huge favor to accommodate with what I have to tell you now."

All three nodded their heads and gestured for her to continue and that she did "Well as of 4 weeks ago I found out I was pregnant." This earned a gasp from Stephanie,a raise of the brow from Hunter and a smile from Vince.

"Well Congratulations, Who's the lucky guy?" Vince asked

Kayla bit her lip, she had to lie, she could loose her job for fooling around with a superstar, she had to make something up quick and believable. "My boyfriend, I started seeing him a long time ago and well we got pretty serious." she let out a nervous laugh.

"Ill say." Vince smiled once again as Stephanie spoke up from the other end "So what do you need from us Kay? Did you need to talk about maternity leave?"

Kayla shook her head and licked her dry lips "No, that's later down the line, but I wanted to please ask if I can work from home from now on, I just feel like its more convenient for me and the baby and I would still be able to get all my work done, I just wouldn't be on the road with everyone."

Stephanie looked to Vince and Vince looked at Hunter, who then looked at Kayla. A few seconds later they all smiled and Stephanie replied "Say no more, I think it would work out fine if you worked from home."

Vice nodded "Yes I agree." he nodded "You were only on the road with us because you chose to, you wanted to be here live and get inspiration but if you can do the same from home, I don't see why not."

Kayla let out a relived sigh and smiled "Thank you so much." she looked down at her month old belly and smiled gently placing her hand over it. This baby was going to be such a blessing to her, she already felt so protective of it and she was going to do everything in her power to make this baby happy and give it an amazing life.

The Next Night:

The next night Kayla had flown to Tampa, Florida to spend the night at Nikki and Johns house. Nikki had spoken to her in the locker room right after the meeting and insisted on her coming over to Florida to spend some time with her, since she had nothing going on for work that day. Kayla happily accepted, Kayla was in much need of some girl time and spending time with her best friend, all to take her mind off Randy and the confusing situation she is in with him.

Nikki had poured herself a third glass of wine, while Kayla sat content with her glass of water. They were just focused on talking about the feud going on with John and Dwayne, Kayla had decided Dwayne comeback should make a scene it should be something good that the fans want to keep watching, so that's how she came up with the feud between Dwayne and John and when she ran it past the rest of her partners they loved it too.

Just as Kayla was about to open her mouth to speak her phone began to vibrate in her purse. "Hang on Nik." she turned away from her Diva best friend and rummaged through her purse to find her phone.

Nikki just laughed softly "You always do that, honestly why don't you organize your purse better, It will help so much in-" just as she was finishing her sentence Kayla cut her off.

"Ha, found it!" She exclaimed and looked at the caller ID and smiled. Nikki saw this glowing smile and raised a brow "And who might that be?"

Kayla lifted herself from the couch "Dwayne." she stated before walking away taking the phone call into the kitchen.

"Oh yeah just leave me here alone and go talk to you man candy!" Nikki exclaimed so Kayla could hear her in the other room.

Meanwhile in the kitchen Kayla just laughed at Nikki's remark and answered her phone "Hey you!"

Dwayne chuckled softly on the other line "Hey beautiful, I just called to see how you were feeling?"

She tilted her head and smiled "I'm alright, a little bit of morning sickness this morning but no dizziness so that's a plus!"

"And do we know when the first appointment is yet?" He questioned.

"Not for another month." Kayla replied while taking a seat on the stool that sat in the large kitchen.

Dwayne sighed through the phone almost as if he had something on his mind. Kayla decided to speak up. "Dwayne, everything ok?"

"Yeah, It just-" he paused unsure of how to put this "Are you sure your going to leave Randy in the dark about this? You never want him to know?"

Kayla sighed, he knew he would bring this up again "Dwayne, no, I don't ever want him to know."

"But what about the baby, that baby is going to want to know his dad."

Kayla sighed and ran a frustrated hand over her brown locks, she knew he was right but she couldn't seem to find the strength in herself to do the right thing, in her mind not telling Randy was the right thing "Believe me, we will both be better off without him."

Dwayne just sighed almost as if he were disappointed "Kay, you know if you don't tell him, you and I can no longer be anything other than friends…"

Kayla looked down at the ground, almost just as disappointed herself, but there was another part of her that wasn't "Why not?" she asked in a low tone

"You know it wouldn't be right." He started "Here you are about to have Randy's baby and not telling him, and I'm in a relationship with you knowing I know who the father is and know you don't want to tell him, how does that make me look?" he questioned

She bit her lower lip and it was as if she almost felt tears forming, was she upset because she really cared about never being in a relationship with Dwayne or was she upset because Dwayne was acting the way she wanted Randy to act with her? "Like you want to take this baby as yours?"

Dwayne just sighed and she could almost feel his emotions through the phone "Kayla baby, In a different time, before Randy Orton came into your life," he paused and let out a soft laugh "I would have loved to be the one who gave you that baby but I'm not and most of all, I'm also NOT the person your really in love with now am I?"

Kayla let a small tear fall "You know I love you Dwayne."

"But your not in love with me."

Kayla sighed and was about to speak when Dwayne cut her off "Kayla its okay, I know this and Ive known this from the start, that doesn't mean I'm going to be any less friends with you than I was before, and that doesn't mean that I'm not going to care about you because I am…" he paused and smiled "All that means is that I lost the battle I was trying to win." he let out a soft chuckle.

Kayla just rolled her eyes and let out a soft laugh "Yeah but you won an even bigger one, Uncle Dwayne." She said rubbing her tummy.

This earned another laugh from him "Hey Hey! Its Uncle Rocky to him!"

Kayla just rolled her eyes and soon heard Nikkis scream coming from the living room. She shook her head with a smirk "Hey Listen, I have to go before Nikki has a freak out because I'm still on the phone."

Dwayne just chuckled "Alright well, just call me if you need anything, I'm still always here." he paused and she could feel his sweet smile through the phone "Tell Nikki I said Hi."

"I Will." Kayla smiled and her and Dwayne said their goodbyes and she locked her phone screen and walked back into the living room to see Nikki still flipping through the TV Channels o the couch.

"Damn, its about time!" Nikki exclaimed watching her friend take a seat next to her on the couch.

Kayla just let out a long sigh and let her head fall back on the couch, looking up at the white ceiling. Nikki set down her glass of wine on the coffee table and raised a brow "What happened during that phone conversation?"

"Dwayne." Kayla answered simply "He just always so morally right!" she gave a frustrated laugh.

Nikki let her elbow rest on the back of the couch and her head rest on her palm "He talked to you about telling Randy again?"

"That and…" she sighed closing her eyes this time "The relationship between me and him isn't happening, because of me having this baby with Randy and being in love with him, blah blah blah."

Nikki just smirked and shook her head, her best friend was so hard headed sometimes "But you know he's right?" she paused not really waiting for Kayla to reply "You are so stubborn on not wanting to tell Randy, I mean I understand but he is the baby's father."

Kayla groaned "Yes but to be honest he doesn't deserve to be!"

Nikki looked down "Kay you don't mean that…"

Kayla turned her head to face Nikki, all the while her head still resting on the back of the couch "Yes I do."

"No you don't!" she exclaimed "You love him to much to think that he doesn't deserve to be this baby's father. Your just pissed off that he can't commit to you and wants to live his life free with other women."

Kayla felt tears forming in her eyes "And is it so bad to be pissed off about that?" she questioned softly, barely above a whisper.

Nikki let a small smile creep up on her lips "Not at all." She replied just as soft.

Kayla let the tears fall and sniffled " I mean why can't he just give all that up Nik, why doesn't he want to be with me?" she questioned "I mean all the nights we spent together that was more than just sex."

Nikki shrugged her shoulder with a sigh " I know it was but what happened come morning time?"

Kayla snickered "He would bolt, say that he would keep in touch with me but he had a flight to catch or something work related to do."

Nikki nodded her head "Can I ask you a question Kay?" when Kayla nodded her head in approval, Nikki continued "What other side was there to Randy? I mean did he ever show you anything else for those two years?"

Kayla let a small smile creep on her lips and wiped the tears from her cheeks "Oh yeah, there were a few times where I got a glimpse of the real Randy Orton and that's what made me fall in love with him."

Nikki smirked at the smile plastered on Kayla's face, she could see her eyes shine and her face light up "You want to tell me about one time?"

"Well…" Kayla took a sip of her water and began "There was one night were we had just finished fooling around and we were just laying there, I had my head on his chest and he had his arm around my waist, my eyes were closed and I was just happy to be there with him, then he says something that makes my heart beat like a wild running horse."

Nikki smiled softly "What?"

"He said 'You know, I don't know what I would do If I ever lost you or lost this feeling of being so close to you'." she repeated line by line as if she had just heard it that night.

Nikki's jaw fell open in shock "He said that to you?"

Kayla just laughed softly at the expression on Nikki's face and simply nodded.

"And you still have doubts about Randy caring for you even a little bit?" A voice came from behind Kayla from the entrance of the living room.

Nikki's head shot up and Kayla turned around to face the man whom the voice belonged to. Kayla just rolled her eyes "Of course I do John, those moments were extremely rare!"

John walked over to the couch where the girls sat and leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on Nikki's lips. Changing the subject of conversation Nikki asked "Baby weren't you supposed to be at Make a wish?"

John looked over at his girlfriend with a puzzled look "That was 14 hours ago Nicole."

Kayla just laughed at the couple, they were so good together it was crazy, they just fit with each other and it did make her a little jealous, she wanted that and what she hated saying the most was that she wanted that with Randy.

Ok and that's the end of chapter 14! What did everyone think? I think this is starting to get good and its just a work in the making!
