Chapter 20

Dwayne ran a hand over his face frustrated and answered the person on the other end of the phone "Have you spoken to her at all since? Did she say if they had her in a room already?"

John shook his head and walked out of the arena with Nikki at his side. His threw his bags into the rental car while Nikki shoved hers in as well. They had just finished up Monday Night Raws show and they had asked for the first flight out to Jacksonville from NY. "No all we know is she got there safe and Im assuming she would be in a room already, we are on the first flight out."

Dwayne ran through the airport and looked up at the screen flashing the destinations in front of him. He sighed and cussed under his breath. John raised a brow as he started up the car "Whats wrong?"

"Well just hope that your flight isn't delayed because I just found out mine is." He answered the younger wrestler.

John sighed and laid his head back on the head rest of the seat. Nikki just watched confused by the display that was going on in front of her. John just hung up the phone without another word and began to back out of the parking space.

"John, baby what happened?" Nikki questioned

John sighed getting onto the main road and leaving the arena parking lot "Dwayne's flight is delayed, I don't think he's going to make it for the birth and to be honest…" he paused looking over at Nikki sympathetically "We may not either."

September 25th- 1:22am

Kayla felt like she was having all the strength taken out of her, she felt like she couldn't breath or relax or forget about the pain that was going on inside her anymore. She tried to not think about it but it was too strong of a pain for her to handle. She had been at this for almost 5 hours now and she was still only 5 centimeters dilated. Not only had the baby decided to come early but he had decided to come very slowly.

She clenched her jaw and spastically moved her legs as she felt another contraction coming on. She tried to breath in through her nose and out her mouth but she failed, she just let go and screamed the pain out of her. She felt the pain go on for about another 20 seconds before it stopped, she whimpered and let her head fall back on the hospital pillow.

She wanted nothing more than to be held right now, and be told b someone that she was doing great and everything was going to be okay and that this little boy would soon be in her arms. But she didn't have that, she didn't have that care or that comfort. The person she wanted the most in this room right now with her was Randy, she wanted him her to make all this better to help her thought this but this was her decision not to let him know about this baby and if that meant having the baby alone, then thats what she had to do.

A nurse came in seconds later interrupting her thoughts "Kayla how are we doing so far?"

Kayla took a deep breath and tried to smile "Could be better."

The nurse whose name was Gia, just laughed softly "As soon as we get that epidural in you, you will feel like you are on cloud nine."

Kayla breathed out again "And when will that be?"

Gia laughed again softly "Soon, the anesthesiologist said he would be here in about 20 minutes."

Kayla groaned and let her head fall back on the pillow, another 20 minutes like this, she didn't know how much more she could take, she wanted the drugs now! She heard the nurse speak up again "Now will the father be joining you later?"

Kayla lowered her head and shook it "No, just me." She whispered and looked back up at the nurse.

Gia kindly smiled and nodded her head "Ok well you have us here with you to help you through it."

"Thank you." Kayla replied softly.

1:55 am

Nikki clicked the off button on her screen and slipped it back into her phone with a sigh "Just talked to Kayla, she should be getting the epidural done in a few minutes."

John looked over to see the saddened look on Nikki's face. He sighed and reached over bringing her into his embrace "Baby I know you upset about not being there for her but this was out of our control there was nothing we could do."

Nikki nodded against his chest "Yeah I know, I just really hope we get there in time."

John looked at the board in from of him showing all the flights and they were about an hour away from boarding, he didn't know what to think, Kayla couldn't have the baby any minute and to be honest he really didn't think they were going to make it for the birth.

2:10 am

Kayla had just gotten the epidural put in her about 10 minutes ago and already she felt a huge relief, she could not feel the contractions at all and this made her so much more relaxed and in the zone, ready to have her baby. She rubbed her belly softly and then heard the vibration of her phone on the side table, she gently leaned over to grab it and answered.

"Hello?" she didn't bother to look at the caller ID

"Hey beautiful, how is it going so far?" Dwayne's soft voice questioned.

Kayla smiled "Oh better now, I just got the epidural put in, where are you?"

Dwayne sighed "Still waiting for this damn plane!"

Kayla just laughed softly "Dwayne don't worry, I can do this on my own."

Dwayne shook his head "I know you can.." he paused "I just don't want you to."

Kayla bit her lower lip, she couldn't take how sweet Dwayne was and it was so nice to hear, if she wasn't so wrapped up in Randy maybe she would be able to give this amazing man a chance "I know." he whispered and then stretched her legs out on the bed, rubbing her belly in the process "Dwayne listen I'm going to relax for a bit until the nurses come in to tell me I'm ready."

Dwayne sighed "Alright just please keep me in the loop."

"Always." Kayla smiled and replied before saying her goodbyes to him and hanging up.

2:45 am

Nikki made her way to the airport bathroom quickly, she knew she only had about 10 minutes to do this before their flight would be getting called to board and John was waiting for her right outside. She sighed and quickly fingered through her contact list on her phone until she found the name that she wanted to call. She pressed on it and hit the call button, putting the phone to her ear, waiting for an answer.

A groggy, deep voice answered on the third ring "Nicole do you have any idea what time it is?"

She sighed and rolled her eyes "That doesn't matter, you need to get your ass out of bed and on a plane to Jacksonville!"

The man on the other end sat strait up in the hotel bed before looking to the sleeping woman beside him "What the hell are you talking about."

"Randy listen…" Nikki took a pause and checked her watch for the time "Kayla is in labor, she's in the hospital now and neither me nor John nor Dwayne can make it in time for the birth!"

Randy's heart went cold for some reason, Kayla was alone? and giving birth? he wanted to rush up out of bed and go strait to her, that was his first instinct but then anger and carelessness took over him "Really? Well Congratulations to her but unfortunately that's Dwayne's problem not mine."

Nikki groaned, she didn't have time for Randy being an ass right now "Randall stop being a coward ass and get your ass to her!"

Randy exclaimed in a low tone "Why should I?! Thats not my position to be in there with her!" he saw the form of his girlfriend Kim move slightly from his raise in voice.

Nikki sighed and put a hand on her hip "Damn it Randy, you love her and regardless of the fact if she is with Dwayne or not, she needs someone there with her! I know you won't let her do this alone because you love her and care for her!"

Randy sighed, running a hand over his head, he didn't know what to do, he looked at his girlfriend beside him and shook his head, he couldn't deny the fact that he loved Kayla, he loved her so much, but he was trying to move on. He groaned and mumbled into the phone "Im on my way there." he said lifting himself off the bed.

5:45 am

"Congratulations Kayla, you are at 10 centimeters, your about to become a mom." the doctor who was going to be delivering her baby looked over at her and smiled.

Kayla smiled brightly with what little energy she had left. She saw the doctor getting into position and the nurses helping him get ready for the delivery. "Alright Kayla, because you have an epidural you will not be feeling the contractions so I will need to tell you when the are coming for you to push." He explained.

Kayla nodded her head and took a deep breath in and a few seconds later the doctor gave the first warning "Ok Kayla push!"

Kayla pushed with her lower half as hard as she could and keeping it there for 10 seconds as the doctor said, she let out a breath and in another few seconds she went again and gave another push, keeping it there for another 10 seconds.

"Doctor!" A nurse came rushing in while Kayla was waiting for the next contraction "There is a man outside who demands to come in for the birth, he claims he's the father."

Kayla's head shot up towards the nurse confused and the doctor looked towards Kayla. She automatically thought it was Dwayne, he probably lied and told the nurse that he was the father so they would let him in for the birth. Kayla nodded her head in agreement towards the doctor and the doctor nodded over to the nurse "Hurry and bring him in."

"Ok Kayla, here comes another, now I need a big push from you on this one!" the doctor exclaimed, Kayla nodded her head and began to push as hard as she could, she felt her body going weak, and heard the doctor "Come on Kayla you need to try harder!"

Kayla whimpered and closed her eyes, letting her head fall back against the bed shaking her head "I can't."

"Yes you can." She felt an all too familiar voice whisper against her ear, a voice that made her heart beat faster. She looked down at the hand that encircled her arm, gently rubbing their fingers against her skin, her eyes made their way up the tattoo covered arm and finally she was met with the icy blue eyes of the love of her life. Randy? She was shocked. 'What the hell is he doing here?!' she thought to herself. Her heart started fluttering, the love of her life and the father of her baby is here, beside her and he didn't even know how much it meant to her. But she really had no time to think of anything but getting the baby out of her at this moment, all she had the strength to do right now is push and forget the fact that the love of her life and the real father of the baby was here actually helping her through this.

6:25 am

Kayla held her baby boy in her arms, she smiled so lovingly at the tiny person that was encircled in her arms, his skin was so soft, his body so fragile, she didn't know it was possible to love something this much, she was in absolute awe and love, this was her baby, her baby boy that she would protect and care for, he was her life now.

A soft knock came from the door, she looked up to see Randy standing there, he slowly walked inside and over to her, he smiled and looked down at her and the baby, she was going to be the perfect mother and he knew it. "The doctor said you can see visitors now, and lord knows the waiting room is full of them." he let out a soft chuckle.

She let out a soft laugh and looked up into his blue eyes, he was there, he was actually there with her, she had never seen such a beautiful and sensitive side of Randy Orton before, he selflessly came to help her through the birth.

"Randy."

"Kayla."

They both let out a soft laugh at the fact that they had the same idea of speaking first. Randy nodded his head to her and allowed her to speak first. She smiled "I can't thank you enough for actually taking the time and coming here to be with me through this, it was truly a shock and a selfless gesture."

Randy smiled softly and nodded, he walked closer to her and pulled a strand of hair that fell into her face away from her eyes, he leaned down slowly and placed a soft kiss on her forehead "I couldn't let you do this alone."

Kayla looked down at the sleeping baby in her arms and then back up at Randy, something in her heart tugged at her, she felt such guilt at this moment, why hadn't she told him he was the father? She couldn't take it, the look in his eyes, the feeling in her heart, she had to do something and she knew what it was, she didn't care about the consequences anymore, she was going to tell him, she had to! "Randy…" she began but then was cut off by a knock on the door.

Randy turned his head and saw Nikki, John and Dwayne come through the door. Randy looked back down at Kayla as the trio circled around her.

"Oh my god!" Nikki exclaimed quietly "Look at that handsome little boy!" She squealed.

Dwayne automatically stood by Kayla's left side and rubbed her shoulder softly "Im so sorry I couldn't make it here in time."

Kayla smiled up at Dwayne "Dwayne its ok, Randy was actually here to help me."

Dwayne sighed "Yeah, I know…" he looked up and over at Randy "Thanks a lot for being here man."

Randy nodded his head "Yeah.."

John cut in between the two men conversation and smiled down at Kayla and her baby "SO when are we going to be able to hold this handsome little man?"

Kayla laughed softly "Ok, who wants him first?" She questioned

Nikki rushed to her side "God please let me!"

Kayla laughed softly at the eagerness of her best friend and slowly and softly handed him over to her in her arms. Just as Kayla was about to speak she felt a hand on her shoulder, she looked over she see Randy's blue eyes looking down into hers "Kay, I actually I have get going."

Kayla's heart stopped, she didn't want him to leave, she needed to talk to him "But Randy-"

He cut her off "You have these guys here with you and most importantly…" he choked a bit on his words "Dwayne." he forced a smile.

"Randy I actually need to-"

He cut her off again, grabbing his jacket from the chair "It was so great to be here with you during this but I really should go, Kim is waiting downstairs and I have an appointment to get to as well."

Kayla felt her heart break at the mention of his girlfriend, Kim's name. It made her think twice, maybe Randy was happy with this girl? She nodded understandably "Oh ok.."

He took one last look at her, she looked beautiful even after just giving birth "Bye Kay." he said before turning around and walking out the door.

John got Kayla's attention by placing a hand on her foot at the edge of the bed "He's leaving?"

Kayla shook her head from her thoughts and sighed "Uhm Yeah, His girlfriend was waiting."

Dwayne raised a brow at John "He has a girlfriend?"

John nodded his head and Nikki scoffed a little at the word before handing the precious little boy over to John who held his arms open to hold him. "Yeah but I don't think it will last."

Kayla shook her head "Nikki be nice."

Nikki raised a brow in shock "Of all people your the one telling me this?"

Kayla just licked her lips and sighed "What do you want me to do? He's moved on and Ive messed up."

John looked at Nikki who in turn looked at Kayla sympathetically "What are you talking about?"

"I messed up…" she began "I should have told him this was his baby and I should have told him that I still love him but I didn't, I let fear and anger get the best of me." She confessed.

Dwayne shrugged his shoulders and he hated to be the one to tell her this but he had to "Its not to late to tell him."

Kayla snickered "Ohhhh yes it is, he gave her a title…" she paused and looked up at all three of her friends "He never did that with me."

Nikki tilted her head and gave her friend a sigh "Kayla…"

"You know…" Kayla smiled over at the little boy in Johns arms "I can't even think about that right now." she opened her arms for John to hand the baby back to her and he smiled as he did. She took her baby boy back in her arms and placed a kiss on his forehead "The only thing I need and want to think about is this amazing little miracle." she stated staring lovingly at her newborn baby.

Oh boy, Lots of things going on in this chapter, Kayla is in labor and Nikki called Randy secretively to go and be with her through the birth. What do you think Kayla will say when she finds out Nikki was the one who told Randy to go to be with her in the hospital? And what will happen, will Kayla now once again back out of telling him? She wanted to tell him but never got the chance, now because he is with Kim, she thinks she should leave things the way they are. Read and Review please! :)
