This chapter is a little short mostly because I didn't feel like this sequence belonged in a chapter with anything else. It's from Morgan's pov and for anyone interested it's different than what happened the first time I told this story.
Hope you enjoy!
All damages from the multiagent were fixed. The repairs had taken up a lot of energy. I needed more.
I glanced at my laptop. The program still wasn't finished looking for my father. I knew it would take some time but I was...a little impatient. I wanted him back. I wanted everything back.
The room was dark. There were a few rays on sunlight from the sunset coming through the window, but for the most part it was dark. I didn't turn the light on. There was no point. I could see in the dark just fine.
I needed more energy. I leaned back on my bed and closed my eyes. I searched for high concentrations of electricity. There was a power station outside of Paris. There would be people, and there would be cameras. However, I could easily cut the cameras and avoid the people. I could move in the shadows as a black, smokey figure. It would go off without a hitch.
Kanky crawled out of the outlet and jumped up onto the bed. I scratched his head absentmindedly and opened my eyes, staring at the ceiling
"Everything will go off without a hitch, don't you worry. Xana will wake up and take Lyoko back, and then we'll get William back, too. We'll all get to spend time together again. We will not have to worry about the Lyoko Warriors or living on Earth...fitting in...school...none of it. Just Lyoko...fighting, and sparring...and gathering knowledge. We can play together too, Kanky, and with the other monsters. You'll see."
My form fuzzed, and then completely dissolved into a black, shapeless form.
"For now, though, I have to charge up."
I ran through the shadows, and soon came to the power station. It towered above me. I paused the recording on all of the cameras and approached the building.
Electricity was an interesting thing for me. I could store vast amounts of it in my body, and if I concentrated...I could feel the flow of electricity around me. Whether it was through wires or lightning...electricity, electronics. They made me feel...connected.
I stretched my right hand out toward the building, and electricity drained from the generator into my body. I was at 45% power. Could I have waited to recharge for another day or two? Yes. However this was less charge than I was comfortable with. A battery logo appeared in my field of vision, so I could see how charged I was.
I charged up to 100% without a hitch, stopped the flow of electricity, and smiled. The next time I needed to charge, I would get it from the Supercomputer. All would go according to plan. I was an expert puppet master, after all. Or, maybe chess player would be a better metaphor? I saw it all laid out before me...all the pieces of the puzzle.
Except for one...one piece didn't fit.
I turned around and saw a girl.
She was a year or so younger than the Lyoko Warriors. She was dressed in dark clothing. She stood still and looked at me. Even though her body language read as stoic, the look in her eyes was just a little unhinged. She looked a lot like Aelita.
And she was pointing a gun at me.
"How long have you been there?" I asked.
"Long enough to know who you are, Xana." Her voice held steady. I raised an eyebrow.
"Now how did you know a name like that?"
"Oh, you know. Don't pretend you don't! Just because you look different doesn't mean you can fool me! I saw what you did. Nobody else could have that sort of power!" Her breath seemed to catch in her throat a little. I took a step forward, and she pointed her gun at me more aggressively than before.
"If you know who I am you should know that bullets won't have any effect on me." I said, she smirked.
"Normal bullets, maybe. These are my own invention. Emits an electrical impulse on impact strong enough to destroy any electrical field within a one meter radius."
That...would effect me. That would kill me. If it worked, that is. I could not take that risk.
But I couldn't miss this opportunity.
Here before me was this destructive and slightly off-balance force. Perhaps I could use her to get rid of the Lyoko Warriors all in one go.
"I am going to turn on the Supercomputer this Friday at 8 pm. If you would like to stop me, do it then." And with that I phased into Specter form and raced away, faster than she could react.
It occurs to me now that I could have just possessed her, had her kill them, have her give me the gun, un-possess her, held her at gun point to disable the multiagent, then killed her. I would have fled to Lyoko and revived Xana and things would have been tied up with the nice little bow. On my end, anyways. But let's face it, I was incredibly stupid back then. I thought I knew everything, but I made so many mistakes.
Time elapsed since last chapter: 1.5 days
Time elapsed since chapter 1: 1 week
Man, Morgan's only been on Earth for a week and she's already done a bunch of stuff. The girl works fast.
Please leave a comment if you enjoyed, you're words mean so much to me.
