That feel when you get a couple private messages asking for updates and suddenly remember you have a story to write. It's been in my brain for so long I forget I haven't shared it with the internet yet. Like seriously this story is so old. Also I've been busy with college and a let's play channel. Those are my excuses. But enough with that, here's the Chapter.
Jeremie's POV
"You'e been looking for me, yes? I'll be at the Supercomputer at 8 o'clock tonight. By all means, try to stop me."
I stared back at the screen for a second. This was the email I'd just received with the subject title "Lyoko." It was probably to get my attention...make sure I didn't delete it as spam or something.
If this was spam, it was a cruel joke of a spam email.
But it couldn't be, of course. This was real. I went poking around. Before I could find the trouble, the trouble found me. I sighed.
"Of course it wasn't over. Why did I think it could be over?" I wondered out loud. "Oh well, Jeremie, time to get to work."
The first thing I did was call Aelita. I had her on speed dial, along with the others. I held my phone between my ear and shoulder. It rang a few times. I split my attention between it and the computer screen. It said the sender of the email was a string of random letters and numbers. I tried sending a blank email back-
"Hello, this is Aelita. I'm not here right now. Please leave your name and number, and a message. I'll get back to you as soon as possible!"
Voicemail? Aelita never went to voicemail. Unless...was something wrong? Oh no. Okay, no, Jeremie, don't panic. Just...call her again.
It rang...it rang...
Nothing.
What if Xana came back somehow? What if Aelita was on Lyoko? What if she was captured, or possessed, or dead?!
Ring ring.
I picked up the phone.
"Hey, Jeremie. Is something going on?"
It was Aelita.
I let out a breath I didn't know I'd been holding.
"Jeremie? Hello?"
"Oh, um...sorry. I was just...you didn't pick up." I stammered. Now that I had her on the phone I split my attention between the phone and computer again. I tried to send an email to the address I got the email from. It turned back an error. I looked up the IP address to see if I could track down the sender's location.
"We agreed to help set up the party, remember?"
"Oh."
Honestly, it had completely slipped my mind. Whenever I had these...projects, I completely shut everything out. I forgot to sleep.
"You forgot, didn't you?"
I tried to open up the full email header, but the IP address was flat out missing. I couldn't trace the mail. The closest I could get was the sender's time zone. I fed the email into the sender time zone feature. They were in the same time zone as us. Although, honestly, I assumed that was the case. Looked like whoever did this was pretty good at covering their tracks.
"Jeremie? Still there?"
"Yeah, yeah I am. Just...just give me a minute ok? I'll go over there. I- um...just...give me a minute."
"...Ok, Jeremie. See you."
I gathered my laptop and phone and...did I need anything else? No. That was it. I headed over to the gym.
Yumi and William were putting up banners as the tallest members of the group. Odd was in charge of balloons, Aelita was making center pieces for the table. There was going to be catering. Hopefully they would be serving the real stuff, not the cheap, mass produced food Kadic would bring in sometimes. Not that I was going to be at this party in the first place. Oh, and Morgan was setting up a sound board, it looked like.
"Are you ok, Jeremie?" Morgan asked. "You look like a mess."
I straightened up a little and adjusted my glasses. Did I really look that bad?
"I'm fine." I looked at my friends. They knew I was not. Morgan caught my look.
"I get it. There's something you want to talk about. I'll go get a snack from the vending machine." She said, then walked out the door.
As soon as the door closed on her, everyone turned toward me. Odd was the first one to speak.
"So, what's got you all riled up, Einstein?"
In response I opened up my laptop and displayed the email and explained.
"I got this a few minutes ago. I tried to trace the email, but the best I could come up with was that it same from this time zone which I could have figured out on my own."
Yumi seemed the most upset.
"The Supercomputer? I thought this was over and done with."
"Yeah, well, apparently someone thought otherwise." I crossed my arms. "And now we have to do something about it."
"Sounds like a trap to me." William said.
"I second that." Ulrich agreed.
"I know, I know, but still. We have to do something. Even if it is a trap, we can't just leave this be. Whoever this is used a specter. Obviously they're willing to commit crimes with that power. We need to-"
"What, go to the factory and catch them?!" Yumi asked, interrupting me.
That...was a good question. We couldn't call the police on them if we couldn't prove they did anything wrong. That was assuming this was a person to begin with...it could have been Xana again. That was not a fun thought. If it wasn't Xana, though, how could we neutralize the threat without getting ourselves arrested or worse.
"I don't know." I concluded. "But I don't think we can ignore this either. We've been able to improvise before. You don't have to go if you don't want to."
"No...no, I'll go." Yumi conceded.
"The rest of you?" I asked. Everyone nodded.
"I'll stay." William said. "Just in case something happens here."
"Right." I said.
"You all have such serious faces. Is something wrong?" I turned around, Morgan had come back, a soda in her hand.
"No, nothing." Aelita said.
"Oh, ok. Well, the decorations look great. Are you finished?" She asked
"Just about." was the general consensus.
"Great. This is going to be a night to remember!"
Morgan drank the last of the soda in the can and threw it in the garbage.
Time Elapsed since last chapter: half a day
Time elapsed since chapter 1: a week and half a day
Back to Morgan's pov next chapter, which is easier to write, maybe it'll go up faster. Maybe.
Anyways, hope new and old readers enjoyed. Leave a comment if you did, I love hearing from people.
Have an awesome day!
