This is from the POV of Morgan. The middle might be a little confusing? The bit where it's in italics is like the security cameras Morgan can see through but also with the audio. Morgan cannot hear the audio. I hope you enjoy!
The mood was electric.
The lights were stimulating.
The music pulsed through the room.
And with me as the DJ, this party was just getting started.
Suprisingly, Kadic knew how to party. The food was great, or so I heard. I could not taste it, of course. Seems Sissi convinced her father to get the good catering, with the help of most of the student population. She made a petition. Students talked, and ate. They danced like tomorrow would never come. Everyone was there.
Almost everyone.
The Lyoko Warriors were not there.
The time was 7:45 pm.
The Lyoko Warriors were on their way to the factory, and the girl from the power station was already in place. I could see them through the cameras in the factory. There were no microphones, so I couldn't hear a thing. It would have been fun to hear that encounter. Oh well, a mime show would have to do.
"GOOD EVENING KADIC ACADEMY! This is DJ Electric, taking requests and keeping you dancing all night or until Delmas kicks us out, whichever comes first!" The students cheered. "And let's give a hand to Jim Morales for chaperoning and making this all possible." They applauded and cheered for Jim. "Now let's get this party started with a little bit of bass." I timed it so that the moment I said "bass" a beat dropped.
The students danced. They formed a loose circle and had...dance-offs or something.
William stood off to one side. Dancing was not his thing. He made that very clear to me the one or two times I tried dancing with him.
Jim sat in the back and ate food. Milly and Tamiya took pictures.
The girl from the power station sat near the hatch in the Scanner room. Was she planning an ambush?
"Hey, DJ?"
I turned my head and suddenly William was next to me.
"Yes?"
"You're still doing requests, right?"
"Yes. What would you like?"
"Break Away by the Subsonics."
"After this song."
"Thanks."
He walked back to his seat. Of course he would request that song he was absolutely obsessed with that band.
I finished up the song I was on and then played Break Away...with a few of my own touches, of course. William seemed happy about how it sounded.
I split my attention between the party and the factory.
The Lyoko Warriors had entered the factory.
I wasn't sure how this would play out, but that was part of the fun.
"Can't believe we're back here." Odd put his arms behind his head in a casual manner. Ulrich shushed him. Aelita was on the phone, relaying information to Jeremie, who was safely in his room. The group had told Aelita she should stay back too. If anything bad happened, Jeremie and Aelita were the only ones who could use the Supercomputer well, and Aelita was the only one who could deactivate towers. She absolutely insisted on going.
The factory was cold and hollow, like the husk of something long since dead. Someone was trying to re-animate that corpse. They wouldn't just let it die.
They should have just let it die.
The Lyoko Warriors stood in front of the elevator.
"The Elevator's not on this floor. Somebody is definitely here, Jeremie." Aelita whispered into her phone.
"Be careful. And be ready to fight if necessary." Jeremie answered.
"He says to be careful." Aelita relayed.
"Wow, thanks Jeremie, never would have thought of that."
Odd pushed the button to go down. Everybody else was stalling too much. Better to just get everything over with.
Downstairs, the girl heard the elevator begin to move. She tensed up and drew her EMP gun. Whatever was coming, she was ready for it.
The Lyoko Warriors fell into a fighting stance as the elevator descended to the Supercomputer room. Whatever was waiting for them, they were ready for it.
The door to the elevator opened. But nobody was inside. The room was empty. The Supercomputer was still in the floor.
"Get out."
"Huh, who's there?" Ulrich asked.
The girl heard a male voice. Changed his form again, did he? What was the point of this? Why wouldn't they all just leave her be!
"Leave the Supercomputer alone! I'll shoot. Don't think I won't!"
"Shoot?!" Ulrich took a step forward. In response there was a flash of light, and Ulrich felt a searing pain in his shoulder. Everyone's eyes went wide. The girl, hearing no more voices, giggled to herself as she jumped down the hole. She landed in a similar fashion to those who landed on Lyoko.
"Ha! I finally beat...you..." She looked at them. "Wait...you're not..." She shrunk back for a moment, then tensed again and drew her gun. "What? The Men In Black, then?!"
Morgan smiled, watching them as she kept the music coming. The girl would shoot the warriors dead out of paranoia. Jeremie could still be made to delete the multiagent. William was safe. Xana could awaken with nobody in his way. This was the best possible outcome.
Except that didn't happen.
"The Men in Black? What do you know about them?" Aelita asked.
The girl looked up and saw Aelita. She blinked and dropped her weapon.
"Aelita...?" the girl asked.
"Y-yes...?"
"It's...it's me, it's Taelia."
"Who?" Aelita asked.
"You know..." She reached out to Aelita, but Yumi smacked her hand away.
"Don't you DARE lay a hand on her!" Yumi yelled. Taelia blinked and looked at all of them.
"You...you're from Kadic, right? I...you." Taelia pointed at Odd. "You flirted with me, pretty badly if I remember...and...there was a samurai suit...Xana attacked and you defended..." She looked down at Ulrich, who had collapsed on the floor from the pain. "Oh my god..."
"Stay away from him." Yumi stepped between Taelia and Ulrich. Taelia rummaged in the bag on her back, got some bandage and antibiotic, tossed it near them. Then she fled.
No...no! What were they doing?! What was going on?! Why was she running away?! Why wasn't she killing them?!
"I'm going to taken a break for a little bit! Have some punch, I've heard it's great!" I said to the crowd, then stepped down. That girl had not served her purpose. I would deal with her later.
"Hey, William." I walked up to him. He was standing near the punch bowl.
"Hey. That remix of Break Away was really great. How long have you been mixing music?"
"A few years? I just picked it up one day." I smiled at him.
"Yeah? That's cool. Glad to see you recovered from being sick so quickly." He said. He gave me a funny look, I couldn't decipher it.
"Would you like to step outside for a moment and look at the sky?" I offered. I knew that was the kind of thing he would like to do. Before he could answer, his phone rang. He picked it up, listened for a bit, paled, and closed his phone.
"Sorry, I gotta go." He said in a monotone, and then he left.
I sighed.
One day I would get him back.
