Hey guys here's a new chapter of Code Revenge! This is from Ulrich's pov. I hope you enjoy!
"I cannot believe her!" Yumi was still fuming.
"It's just a flesh wound." I chuckled. It really hurt and I was a bit...uh, dizzy.
"You got that quote from Odd."
"Yep."
We were hobbling to the hospital, almost there. Aelita wrapped up the wound and we sent everyone else back to Kadic. We might get in trouble for being off campus during the party. Was that a rule? I honestly didn't remember.
"I'm going to-"
"Going to what, Yumi? Call the cops? She was in a wharehouse, and she could be anywhere now." I said. She inhaled like she was going to argue, but then paused and just stopped talking. I slumped a little, and she picked me back up. I just felt...weak. We came to the ER door. We walked in and Yumi sat me down in the waiting room.
"Sit tight, I'm going to check you in."
"Thanks." I looked around the waiting room. There were a couple people, also injured in some way. Average waiting time, 5 minutes. That's what a sign on the wall said.
Everyone else was fine, if not a bit shaken. Taelia was still loose with a gun. We had to do something about her. Find her and arrest her...or something. Damn this thing really hurt.
"Ok, you're checked in. we just have to fill out this paperwork."
Yumi sat down and filled out the paperwork for me, occasionally asking me questions she wouldn't know the answer to. She was the one who insisted on taking me to the hospital. That was really cool of her.
After she finished the paperwork. Yumi brought it back to the receptionist, and within a few minutes my name was being called. The person across from me, an older guy, like, in his 20s looked like he had burns all over. He looked like he was in more pain than me.
"Good luck, man." I said. It took him a second to register that I was talking to him.
"Uh...thanks, I guess?" he finally replied.
Some medical people were near the desk with a wheelchair for me. A wheelchair? I didn't need that? Whatever, I wasn't about to fight with anyone right now. I sat down, and they pushed me to my room. Yumi started to follow us.
"I'm sorry ma'am, but you aren't allowed back here when we're treating the patient." One of the nurses told her. Yumi looked me in the eye. I nodded to her, and she left. Hopefully this wouldn't take too terribly long.
I was wheeled to an operation room. A nurse made sure I got up and onto the bed. It was the same nurse that was Xanafied at least three times. Was she the only nurse around here? We didn't have such a great history, not that she remembered it.
She left and a doctor walked in and looked at my chart. He was an older guy with graying hair and in a white coat. He was like...an old wise doctor stereotype.
"So, bullet in your shoulder."
"Yep." I avoided eye contact. The doctor lifted my left sleeve.
"You got it all bandaged up?"
"A friend did it to stop the bleeding." I explained.
"I see, they did good job." The doctor said. "I'm Dr. Korn, by the way." Someone needed to work on their bedside manners. Man, my shoulder hurt. It was like...burning. Probably because of the hot metal from the bullet. He started to unravel the bandages. I felt the pressure lift until my bare skin was exposed to the air.
"Yeah."
"Alright. I'm going to administer some general anesthetic, and keep you awake while I remove the bullet and find out what sort of damage we're dealing with." The doctor explained.
"Ok."
"I'll be right back with the anesthetic. You make yourself comfortable." The doctor said as he left the room.
I laid back in the bed. This was the first time I had to just sit back and think. All of this was so crazy. Someone must have set us up to run into Taelia. Someone who knew that Taelia was on edge? And wanted us dead? The same person who sent that email to Jeremie? The person who somehow Xanafied someone? Was it Xana? I mean nobody wanted it to be him but what if it was? What if-
The doctor was back with a nurse and a needle. Quickly, the nurse took the syringe and went over to my side.
"Administering anesthetic." She said, and I felt a prick neat the bullet wound. Immediately the pain began to fade. In about thirty seconds all feeling faded from my shoulder. The doctor reached for some medical tools and I looked away. It wasn't that I was scared or anything, but a bloody bullet coming out of my shoulder is not something I really wanted to see.
"Ow!" Sunnedly a stab of pain went through my shoulder. That shouldn't have happened?
"More anesthetic." The doctor called. After a moment the pain disappeared, though I still felt pressure.
"Does it still hurt?" The doctor asked.
"Nope, but I feel pressure." I answered.
"That's fine."
He was silent for a few moments, and then I felt something being pulled out of my shoulder. I glanced over and saw the bloody bullet and the blood the nurse was sopping up with bandages. I looked away. Ugh...I shouldn't have looked at it. Taelia...she was dangerous. Who's to say she wasn't the person behind this maybe...maybe...
"You're a lucky young man." The doctor said, distracting me from my train of thought. "There is some muscle damage, but it will heal. No nerve damage no bone damage. Very lucky." He nodded. "I'll leave you to bandage the wound." And he left. The nurse set to bandaging my shoulder. I took a breath and relaxed. I was going to be ok.
"Ow! I-" I felt a sharp stab if pain in my neck. I suddenly felt very heavy, and my eyes were closing. I was...drugged?
The nurse leaned over me, the eye of Xana flashing in each of her eyes.
"Goodnight Stern. We're starting this now."
Time elapsed: we actually went backwards this is all the night of the dance.
