Beginning A/N: For those of you who have been sticking with this story for as long as you have, you first may have noticed that this story hasn't been updated in… almost seven months. Sorry about that. And second, you may have noticed that this story has gone through two slight title changes. This is mostly because I have been trying to settle on what I wanted Izuku's quirk to be. And I believe that I've figured something out for him. I have become inspired and now have a decent idea of Izuku's quirk and how I want it to function. So, here's a new chapter for you all! I hope that you enjoy it!
Summary: In a world where almost everyone is born with some kind of superpower, Izuku Midoriya grew up for most of his life believing himself to be quirkless. But when a princess from a land of Mana arrives in Japan, both of their lives become intertwined as they strive to become a heroic duo unlike any who have come before them!

Heroes, Villains, and Accidents!
Angelise silently stared out the window of the taxi that had picked up her and her mother from the airport, taking in the sights of this unfamiliar place. She and her mother had changed into some casual clothes when they arrived at the airport before they had taken off. She was wearing a simple pink T-shirt, denim shorts, ankle socks, and a pair of pink sneakers with white soles and laces, while her mother wore a sleeveless shirt with skinny jeans and a pair of high tops.
The young princess was trying to comprehend how technology could be so inferior in other places compared to her own, but just chalked it up to these people not possessing mana and thus having no need to develop mana-based technology. The young princess had to admit, though, that she was amazed at the many quirks that she has seen thus far. She had seen some who had simple cosmetic abilities, such as a man who had a cactus for a head…
Oof, his poor wife…
And a woman with a pair of cat ears on her head. Then there were some quirks that were definitely action-packed. She remembered seeing a man who had control over fire, if the mask and facial hair made of flames were anything to go by. And even a man with bird wings growing out of his back. Wings that had red colored feathers that could move and act independently of each other. It was all just so fascinating!
Her mother noticed this and smiled.
"This country is quite different from back home, isn't it?" Sophia asked.
"Yes, it is. I never could have imagined humanity gaining so many different powers." said Angelise as she looked on with eyes wide in awe. "It's like something from straight out of a comic book! This is really what the rest of the world is like?"
"For the most part it is. Although, as I'm certain you remember, there are some individuals in the world who are born without any quirk at all. But just like the Norma back home, their lack of a superpower doesn't make them any less human." Sophia said. "This is something you must take to heart if you wish to be a truly great queen someday, Angelise. Because I believe, one day, you will be the one to break the cycle of hatred that keeps our people divided like it is."
Angelise looked at her mother with wide eyes. Those were some pretty big expectations, even more so than what she knew was expected of her. But she was determined not to let her mother down. So, for her mother's sake, she would rid herself of her negative feelings towards the Norma and strive forward towards a better future. Unfortunately for the two royal ladies, it would seem that their plans for the day would come to a screeching halt.
And I mean that literally.
Their taxi just screeched to a halt.
"Driver, what happened?" Sophia asked.
"Looks like we've got a traffic jam as far as the eye can see, Madam. I don't think we'll be going anywhere for a long time." said the driver.
"What could have caused a traffic jam this bad?" Sophia asked.
The cabbie looked out the car and pointed towards the horizon as he said, "Uh, you ladies might want to step outside and see for yourselves."
Though confused by the change in demeanor they did as he said and looked around as they tried to spot whatever it was that was causing the traffic jam. That's when Queen Sophia gasped as she looked ahead of the cars. She placed a hand atop her daughter's head and turned it in the direction she was looking and Angelise too gasped in morbid fascination. For right there, going on a rampage in the middle of the city, was a literal giant beast of a man!
The giant man has a rough, beastly appearance, possessing a head that resembles that of a horse or a shark, and a very wide-set, large muscular body. He has long, dark brown hair, which he wears in dreadlocks, and a reddish-brown beard around his jaw. He wears a tattered black shirt, the sleeves ripped off and the front ripped open, as well as a pair of blue jeans. The royal women couldn't believe their eyes.
"Oh my gods, that guy is huge!" cried Angelise.
"I know, right?" said a voice next to her.
Angelise and her mother turned to see a boy who looked to be around Angelise's age who appeared to be a little on the short side for his age with green hair that seemed to be both spiky and curly at the same time that cast a shadow that gave it the impression of having a black undertone. He had green eyes that were round and stretched wide that gave him a rather innocent appearance, four freckles under each eye that formed a diamond pattern, and he had on his face the brightest smile that either woman had ever seen on anyone besides a baby or a young child.
'Oh my gods, he's adorable!' Angelise and her mother mentally squealed.
"That's a huge villain!" the boy exclaimed.
"Villain?" Sophia asked.
"Yeah, at least, I'm pretty sure he's a villain." the boy replied. "Oh, I'm sorry! Where are my manners? My name is Midoriya Izuku. It's a pleasure to meet you both."
Sophia smiled and placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder as she bowed her head in greeting.
"The pleasure is ours, Midoriya. I am Sophia Ikaruga Misurugi, but you can call me Sophia. And this lovely lady is my daughter, Angelise." Sophia said.
But Angelise wasn't paying attention. She was transfixed by the scene in front of her. It was like something out of one of her father's comic books that he used to read with her when she was a little girl! She was in so much shock that she said her innermost thoughts about the whole situation out loud rather than keeping them in her head.
"How did the rest of the world even get like this in the first place?"
"No one really knows, but what we do know is that it all started in the city of Qing-Qing in China. A little girl was born glowing as bright as a star." Izuku explained. "After that, reports of people with superpowers popped up across the globe. No one knew what was causing these quirks. Before long, the supernatural became totally normal. Dreams became a reality."
Sophia and Angelise gave Izuku their undivided attention. And as he explained, they swore that they could see various people shocked at discovering that they too had strange and mystical powers. A woman who could control ice, a man who could sprout multiple limbs, and a man who could lift entire mountains.
"The world became a superhuman society, with 80% of the population possessing some uncanny ability. Our streets looked like scenes from comic books. As cities swirled with chaos and confusion, a new profession dominated our collective consciousness." Izuku said, the smile never leaving his face. "We're now living in an age of heroes!"
At the epicenter of the attack, the Giant Villain swung his arm and sent a steel pillar falling to the ground. It would have easily crushed the closest civilians who were watching the whole altercation had it not been for a muscular man catching it before it could hurt anyone. This was the hero known as Death Arms.
Death Arms is a very tall, muscular man of a wide build with slightly tanned skin. He has a square jaw which juts out a notable amount, small eyes and short white hair, spiked out behind his head. In his hero costume, he wears a large headband with a yellow and black-striped caution pattern, matching his thick wrist-guards and the belt around his waist, a square buckle with a triangular decoration sat in its center. He wears what looks to be a cyan-colored cardigan, which exposes his lower torso and the center of his pectorals, held onto his chest on each side by small metal nuts. His pants are dark blue, a white stripe down each side, and are slightly baggy on him, and his shoes are plain black with a simple design.
"Oh, nice! Way to go, Death Arms!" exclaimed one man.
"The Punching Hero! I wish I had a quirk that made me super strong." said another.
But that's when streams of water shot out in front of the crowd and forced them back. The water changed its form into a police barrier which originated from another hero who had arrived on the scene.
"Everyone, please step back! This area's far too dangerous!" said the hero named Backdraft.
Backdraft is dressed like a firefighter, sporting a long yellow jacket with high-visibility lines running down the center, along his sleeve cuffs, hem, and high collar, as well as a red fireman hat. A thin cannon is strapped to his left shoulder which is attached to the red water tank he wears on his back. He wears a white mask with a single orange bead embedded into the center, which could possibly be his eye. He has taps for hands with circular wrist-guards just behind their openings, red valves over the top, a pair of similar knee-pads on his legs, and yellow sneakers on his feet.
"Whoa, the rescue specialist, Backdraft, is here? He'll make sure we're okay!" exclaimed another man.
As this was going on, Izuku and Angelise were both trying to get a better look at the action from their place at the back of the crowd. They both wanted a better vantage point to see this fight and knew that they wouldn't be able to see all of the details where they were now.
"This guy must be pretty desperate to go full monster in the middle of a city. You know what happened?" one man in the crowd asked another.
"Just some amateur. Stole someone's bag and then got himself cornered." he replied.
"A quirk like that and he's just a petty thief." the first man sighed in disappointment.
Fortunately, Izuku found a spot that wasn't so crowded and guided Angelise and her mother to get a better look. As they waded their way through the crowd they passed a man who was talking to his boss over the phone and explaining his situation.
"I got held up. Train's out. Another villain. I'm not sure when I'm going to make it in to the office." said the office worker.
But that's when a figure soared in overhead, catching everyone's attention. It appeared to be a man who was a living tree. Or rather, his quirk made him appear as such. His hero costume is a dark blue bodysuit that includes a wooden belt, wooden knee pads, and wooden shoes along with a wooden helmet and face mask that left only his eyes visible. A small bundle of roses hangs from the left side of his belt.
"Ahh, Kamui Woods!" squealed a group of young women.
Kamui leapt from a stone wall just as the Giant Villain brought his fist down.
"Get away from me or I'll break you, Toothpick!" roared the Giant Villain.
That's when Izuku, Angelise, and Sophia managed to make it to the front of the crowd. Izuku's eyes lit up with excitement as he watched the showdown, much to the amusement and slight confusion of Angelise and her mother.
"You're in for a treat! This is gonna be good!" Izuku said, excitement radiating off of him.
"What makes you so sure?" Angelise asked.
"Yes, who is that man in the wooden mask?" Sophia inquired.
"You ladies don't know? What, have you been living under a rock?" one member of the crowd rudely asked.
"Hey, go easy on them, man, they're probably new in town and haven't heard of him. Not that I blame them." said another.
Fortunately, Izuku was there to explain everything as the Human Groot was launched high into the air, then swung on a steel beam using his wooden arm that extended into a tree root.
"That's Kamui Woods! He may be new, but he's sure making a name for himself!" exclaimed Izuku.
"One look at that goofy grin and I know what you are. A fanboy." an older gentleman said with a smirk.
"Uh, sorta." Izuku said sheepishly.
Angelise couldn't stop herself from blushing at the greenette and she didn't know why she was. She only just met him, like, ten minutes ago and yet she couldn't help but find his antics adorable and… oddly charming.
Kamui jumped onto the Giant Villain's arm just as he brought his hand down upon the railroad tracks that the wooden hero had been running on. Ever the analytical one, Izuku noticed that while the Giant Villain's quirk gave him a 50% increase in power, he seemed to suffer from a 75% decrease in speed and mobility. And Kamui was taking advantage of this as he ran up the villain's arm before jumping into the air and sending out a tree root from his arm. The villain tried to block, but the root just wrapped around his wrist. But the villain wasn't as stupid as he looked, and he swung his arm around to drag Kamui along until the wooden hero was slung across onto the roof of the train station. Fortunately, Kamui managed to right himself and stick the landing.
Kamui glared at the Giant Villain and exclaimed, "Assault, robbery, and illegal use of powers during rush-hour traffic. You are the incarnation of evil!"
Despite the situation, Angelise and Sophia couldn't help but sweatdrop at that declaration.
"What is he talking about?" Angelise asked.
"I hardly think that those things make this guy the incarnation of evil." said Sophia.
The older gentleman from before simply shrugged and said, "Meh, it was probably just a heat of the moment thing."
Suddenly, Kamui Woods' arm turned into a mass of tangled vines and tree roots. A phenomenon that Izuku immediately recognized.
"There! His special move!" he exclaimed.
"Come on, tree man, show us something flashy!" cried the older gentleman.
Izuku's smile seemed to only widen as the crowd watched the events that were about to unfold.
"The Preemptive…" Izuku said.
"Binding…" Kamui continued.
"Lacquered Chain Prison!" they finished together.
Kamui Woods thrust his arm out and a mass of thick vines and tree roots shot out from his arm and ensnared the Giant Villain! It took some effort on Kamui's part, but he was holding him in place really well which drew cheers and applause from the crowd below. Even Angelise was beaming at the sight, having seen such a fascinating quirk in action. But her beaming smile soon turned to a look of concern as she felt tremors through the ground and saw something approaching fast.
"WATCH OUT!" she screamed.
Having heard Angelise's cry, Kamui looked past the Giant Villain to see what she was so concerned about. And he regretted it almost immediately. Another villain with a Gigantification quirk was approaching fast! This time it was a buff man who also had beastial features, but he was bald and had a head that looked more like that of a Hammerhead Shark, pointed teeth that looked as sharp as knives, as well as dorsal fins along the length of his forearms.
'A second one?! I don't have enough time to make another prison!' Kamui mentally panicked.
Fortunately, he wouldn't have to worry.
"CANYON CANNON!" yelled a feminine voice.
Just in the nick of time, a literal giant woman came seemingly out of nowhere and drop kicked the new villain which sent him crashing to the ground of a, thankfully, empty street. Everyone was stunned by her sudden arrival, but they were certainly not ungrateful. The woman turned to look at Kamui Woods with concern in her eyes.
"Is everyone okay?" she asked.
"Yeah, I think so. Thanks for the assist, but who are you supposed to be?" Kamui responded.
The woman flashed a smile and said, "The name's Mt. Lady, and I'm the newest heroine in town. Nice to meet everyone."
Mt. Lady is a curvaceous young woman who has purple eyes with white pupils and elegantly long eyelashes. She has long, voluminous, creamy blonde hair reaching down to her waist with two shorter strands curled to frame her face, parted slightly to her right.
Her hero costume is composed of a purple and pale tan-colored skintight bodysuit, which is accented with orange stripes. The suit appears to have a pair of purple gloves with orange accents on the edge of the cuff. The design is similar for her "boots", which are cut off at the thigh in a deep v-shape. The suit also has three peculiar orange diamond-shaped dots on the purple top that are located under her chest, and she also wears a purple domino mask with horn-like protrusions on the sides.
As she turned around and grabbed some steel cables to restrain the Hammerhead Villain, she told Kamui Woods to keep the other guy restrained. Unfortunately, many of the male reporters started taking photos muttering things like "money shot" and other lewd and perverse things that Izuku easily overheard. Which made the green haired boy visibly angry as he rounded on the reporters and their photographers.
"HEY! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO SAY THINGS LIKE THAT ABOUT A WOMAN, ESPECIALLY A HEROINE, LET ALONE SAY SUCH DISGUSTING THINGS ABOUT HER LIKE THAT?" roared Izuku, causing the reporters to flinch and stop taking pictures. "DID SHE EVEN GIVE HER CONSENT FOR SUCH PICTURES TO BE TAKEN? HUH? NO, SHE DIDN'T! YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES FOR YOUR ACTIONS!"
Even Death Arms and Backdraft flinched at the pure, righteous fury that the kid was showing, but Angelise just frowned and crossed her arms under her chest as she nodded in agreement with the greenette. Along with her mother, the rest of the women in the crowd, and the other men in the crowd who were either married, in a committed relationship, or just plain aren't perverts. And having heard Izuku's outburst, Mt. Lady smiled with a small blush at him for defending her honor like that. She was certainly glad that she hadn't gone with her original plan of using her looks to get attention as a hero.
Once he calmed down enough, Izuku walked over to the rather large footprint left in the ground by Mt. Lady's landing and pulled out a notebook and pencil as he started to write.
"Gigantification, huh? Well, she definitely has the looks to be a crowd pleaser and her quirk seems super versatile. Although, she might find it hard to fight at her full potential in a crowded city as opposed to rural landscapes…" mumbled Izuku.
"Hey, what'cha got there, fanboy? Taking notes? What, you want to be a hero yourself?" the man from before asked.
Izuku looked up with a bright, beaming smiles.
"Yes. More than anything." he replied.
And honestly, his smile was contagious as Angelise soon found herself grinning, too. She walked up to her green haired associate and pat him on the back.
"With that attitude of yours and that sharp mind, I have no doubts that you can be a hero, Midoriya. Not one that society wants, but one that it needs." she said.
Izuku's eyes went wide and a little bit watery at her words. She may not have known about his situation, but she had told him the words that he desperately needed to hear for years.
Unfortunately, that's when things turned horribly wrong.
While the second villain had been knocked unconscious by Mt. Lady's surprise attack, the first Giant Villain had finally managed to break out of Kamui Woods' Lacquered Chain Prison using brute force and smashed his arm into a part of a building that was under construction. Everyone screamed and started to run away, but as Izuku was running he noticed that Angelise was frozen in place from fear as she looked at the oncoming debris. His body seemed to move on its own as he ran back to her while screaming her name.
Angelise finally snapped out of her trance when Izuku grabbed her by the arm and, with all of his strength, threw her out of the metaphorical splash zone and into her mother and another crowd member who caught her before she could hit the ground. But for Izuku…
It was too late.
A cloud of dust was kicked up as Izuku was quickly squashed and buried beneath tons of steel, wood, and concrete which brought about gasps of fear and horror from the crowd.
"MIDORIYA!" screamed Angelise.
When the smoke cleared, all the was visible of Izuku was his right hand that was sticking out from beneath the debris, and a growing pool of blood that was seeping out from the concrete. By this point, Angelise and her mother were both crying over what happened and Angelise rushed over to the crash site in spite of the protests of Death Arms and Backdraft and she started frantically digging through the debris, trying to dig out the boy. She may have just met him today and didn't know him that well, but he had saved her life, and he certainly didn't deserve to die.
Mt. Lady was the first to snap out of it as she immediately knocked out the Giant Villain with a swift punch to the temple. As Kamui went to restrain him, Mt. Lady knelt down and started to quickly, but carefully, dig Izuku out from under the debris while Death Arms radioed an ambulance and several paramedics and Backdraft performed crowd control. Little did anyone know was that due to the high stress of the situation, as well as hidden genetics, something within Izuku and Angelise was changing. Something that would truly change their lives forever.
