After naruko left the inn she went somewhere to train. When she got there, just as she was about to begin training, she stopped and took off the ring around her neck. 'I should put this somewhere safe so I don't accidentally break it' naruko thought.
Naruko went to put the ring in one of the pockets of her jacket. When she put her hand in the pocket she felt something so she took it out and looked at it. The moment naruko laid her eyes on what she was holding her eyes widened out of shock and sadness.
Flashback
Naruko just got out of the academy when she heard someone say "hey pigtails." Naruko turned around and saw Amy running towards her. "Oh hey Amy" naruko said. "Hey pigtails, I was wondering if you were doing anything today?" Amy said. "Well I'm gonna hang out with Shakira, Yuko, Levi, and Damien in a couple of minutes" naruko said.
"Is that so? Well then do you mind if I join you guys?" Amy said. "Oh I don't mind at all. I'm sure that everyone else wouldn't mind either, after all we are friends" naruko said with a smile. Amy couldn't help but smile at her friend's happy go lucky attitude.
"Hey before we go can you follow me to my place?" Amy said. "Um… sure but why do you want me to come to your place?" Naruko said confused. "You'll see" Amy said then started walking away.
Naruko followed Amy all the way to her apartment. When naruko entered Amy's apartment she was surprised to see that Amy place was kind of girly. "I didn't think that you'd be the type of person to like girly things" naruko said. "Don't judge me" Amy said. "I'm not judging you I'm just saying. It's your apartment you're free to decorate it the way you want to but anyways you have a nice place" naruko said. Amy looked at naruko and said "thanks. I actually had you come here because I have something for you." "Really what is it?" Naruko said. Amy gestured for naruko to follow her.
Naruko followed Amy to her bedroom. "Close your eyes" Amy said. Naruko did what Amy said and closed her eyes. After a bit naruko felt something being placed on her head. "Ok you can open your eyes now" Amy said.
When naruko opened her eyes Amy immediately dragged her towards a mirror. Naruko saw that on her head was a tiara that a bride wears on her wedding day. It had a ruby in the center with silver bands around it.
"It's beautiful" naruko said. "Well do you like it?" Amy said. "I-I love it" Naruko said. Amy smiled and said "I'm glad that you like it. My grandma gave it to me, she said that it's a family heirloom." "Wait if your grandma gave this to you and it's a family heirloom then why are you giving this to me? You should keep it. I can't take this" Naruko said taking it off.
"Before my grandma passed away she gave it to me. She told me that one day she wants me to give it to someone I can trust, someone who I know will always be by my side no matter what, someone who will always help me when I need them the most, someone who will always be my ride or die no matter the cost. Yes my grandma gave it to me and it's a family heirloom but the reason I'm giving it to you is because well I want you to have it. You're the very first person who reached out to me and saw me for who I really am and not just some jerk who bullies people for no reason. One day I want you to do the same and give it to someone who you know you can trust, someone who you know will always be by your side no matter what, someone who will always help you when you need them the most, someone who will always be your ride or die no matter the cost. Always remember this, we may not be related but you will always be a sister to me" Amy said with a smile.
When Amy finished what she was saying naruko was overwhelmed with emotions. She put her hand over her mouth and started crying. No one has ever said something that nice to her before so naruko couldn't help but cry.
Amy pulled her best friend into a hug and just let her cry her heart out. "Shhh it's ok, I'll always be here for you" Amy said in a soft voice acting like naruko's big sister even though both girls were the same age. "T-thank you" naruko said in a shallow tone.
They stayed like that for a bit before pulling away. Naruko wiped away her tears then put the tiara back on her head. "Come on we don't want to keep the others waiting" Amy said then went to leave with naruko following close behind her.
Flashback End
Naruko fell to her knees with tears rolling down her face while holding the ring and the tiara to her chest. 'Pull yourself together naruko. Crying isn't gonna do anything' naruko thought. She then stood up, wiped away her tears, took her jacket off, put the ring and the tiara in the pocket of her jacket, and set the jacket down. Then she started training.
Even though naruko didn't even want the necklace from the start she just acted like she did to not raise suspicion but after Shizune told her about what happened to Tsunade it made her not want it even more. She knew what Shizune said was true, the necklace wasn't a piece of jewelry to be gambled away on a silly bet but she couldn't back out now. If she did it would look extremely suspicious as she had no choice but to play along and go though with the bet.
