He closed the book and placed it on the coffee table. He looked over at Bailey. While he had been reading, his wife had made the two of them coffee and rested her head on his shoulder. Her coffee cup was now on the coffee table and she was asleep, her head on the other side of the sofa. Steve stood up and put a blanket on his sleeping wife. He then went upstairs and put on his running clothes. He came back downstairs and check on Bailey. She was still asleep. After making sure his wife was alright Steve went out for his early morning run. /span/p

Bailey grinned at her husband. She took a sip of her coffee, put her cup down, and gave a contented sigh. Steve looked at his wife concerned. He took a few minutes to study his wife's face. He noticed that she looked happy and peaceful. Steve's concern melted and he thought he could see some of the woman he married shining through. If he was being honest with himself and thinking about it honestly. He saw more and more of that woman little by little every day./span/p
p class="MsoBodyText"span style="mso-spacerun: 'yes'; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun; font-size: 12.0000pt;""I noticed that you wrote a part one at the top of the last memory, babe," Steve commented./span/p

I sit up in bed, stretch, and climb out of bed. I slide my feet into my slippers and turn off my alarm. I shuffle out of my bedroom and into my kitchen where I start a pot of coffee. I leave the kitchen to check on Grace. I tap on her door and hear a chest cough followed by, "Come in." I enter the room to see Grace snuggling deep into the covers. I walk over to her, crouch down, and place the back of my hand on her forehead, it's hot. I sigh and give her a sympathetic look./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""Looks like you're missing school today, Princess," I say softly./span/em/p

I put the back of my hand on his forehead, the same as I did for Grace. It too is hot. I quickly leave the groggy Detective and go into the bathroom. I open up the medicine cabinet and pull out the cold medicine. The one I have for adults and the bottle Adam got me for Grace the night before. I then get into one of the drawers attached to my sink and pull out my head scan thermometer. I leave the medicine on the counter and take the thermometer with me back to Danny's room. I say to Danny firmly./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""You sure we won't be putting you out, Bails?" Danny asks uncertainly./span/em/p

p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;"The mention of food causes Danny to purge slightly more violently and I feel slightly guilty./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""Grace giggles, and says " I wouldn't say no to some soup."/span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""Will you two please stop mentioning food?" Danny begs during a break from puking his guts out./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""Sorry, Danno!" Grace and I chorus./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;"The two of us burst into a fit of giggles and receive a dirty look from Danny. I give him a sheepish smile and motion to Grace to come with me. Grace gets up, walks over to me, and we leave Danny in peace. Grace follows me to the kitchen where we attempt to hunt up some soup. We find a few cans in my lower cupboards, pull them out, and start to go over our options. As we are doing this a knock sounds on my front door. Grace and I look at each other. I shrug and leave Grace to peruse the soup selections to answer the door. I get to the front door and open it, to find you on the other side with a couple of bags in your hands./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""Good afternoon, Commander. I wasn't expecting you so early. Would you care to come in?" I greet you./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""Hey Bailey, I thought I'd bring you guys some lunch and make things easier on you." You greet me in return and enter./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;"I close the door, smile, and say, "That was thoughtful of you, Commander. I don't think Detective Williams will want any lunch, though."/span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""Is Danny alright?" You ask concerned./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""He's in the bathroom being sick," Grace says piping up, joining us./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""I see. You feeling any better Grace?" You ask her kindly./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""A lot better than Danno. I'm hoping I can go back to school tomorrow." Grace replies with a grin./span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;"You chuckle softly and look at me. There's a look in your eyes Commander, a look that at the time I couldn't quite interpret. But now, now even with my memory in the state it's in, I know what it means. /span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"emspan style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;" /span/em/p
p class="MsoBodyText"span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 12pt;""I love you," Bailey said aloud as she wrote the words on a post-it and stuck it on the memory book for her husband./span/p
