I had waited until everyone was gone before I decided to see Bella. Renée had come and gone, worried like crazy about me and begged me to come home, though I told her I would follow whatever Bella wanted. Edward had stepped out, and I had entered. I wore large, cat-eye sunglasses so that Bella couldn't see my crimson eyes…tainted by her blood. "Hey Bella." I greeted softly, perching myself on the edge of the hard plastic chair. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm doing ok." Bella replied, her head lolling towards me. "How are you…why are you wearing sunglasses?"

"It doesn't matter. I'm just glad you're better. Did the Doctors say what happened?" Bella nodded. "I fixed up the hotel, they think we've been there the entire time, and all your injuries occurred at the hotel."

"Alex…" Bella muttered. "Take your sunglasses off, please?"

"Are you sure?" I asked. Bella nodded. I sighed, slowly reaching up and taking them off, and revealing my eyes to my sister.

"Alex…they're…Alex, your eyes-"

"I know, Bella." I sighed. "I know…"

"It was you…"

"Yeah, I was the uh…best suited to draw the Venom out…I'm the oldest, and…had the most self-control."

"You saved me, Lex." Bella reached over and clutched my hand. "Thank you."

"You're not disgusted by me?"

"How could I? You're my sister." I smiled at her. "Are you going to leave me?" My face fell a little.

"Do you think I would?" I asked her.

"Well, you usually leave when something bad happens, right? Like with the Romanov family?"

"That was an entirely different situation." I assured her. "You need me right now, ok? And if that means being here in Forks with you? I'd do it."

"What about your daughter?" Bella insisted.

"Victoria…seems to not want to interact with me. I did look around for her, but…I haven't found anything. But I'm ok." I stood when I saw Bella's eyes droop. "I'll let you sleep." I stood, leaning over and pressed a kiss to Bella's head. "I love you, Bella."

"I love you too." Bella whispered as her heart rate slowed and she fell asleep. I put my sunglasses back on as I left the hospital room. I would protect my sister, that much is true, but if my daughter came back, I would have no idea what I would do…and I hope that I never have to make that choice.
