Chp. 22: Combat Practice

Over two and a half weeks had now passed, all the students had gathered outside, sitting in bleachers surrounding an arena. Standing in the middle of the arena were Professors Ozpin, Theodore, Bellrose, General Ironwood, and Keaton.
"Students, it's time for another team combat match," Keaton announced.
"I'll be picking two teams at random now," Ozpin said as she tapped on her Scroll. "Team JAAR of Beacon Academy versus Team GUVV of Haven Academy."
As soon as the names were called, JAAR and GUVV stepped down from the bleachers and walked into the arena.
"The rules are the same as a combat style tournament. Your aura reaches red or you're knocked out of bounds, you're out. Last team standing wins," Ironwood explained.
Teams JAAR and GUVV walked onto opposite ends of the arena, then turned to face each other. Keaton and the four academies' headmasters all proceeded to walk out of the arena just as a large holoscreens appeared above the bleachers for everyone to see, displaying the faces of both teams and their aura meters. Team JAAR drew their weapons as Team GUVV did the same. Genji held an electric guitar similar to Azumi's, but was painted black. Uzra unsheathed a pulwar sword. Jason drew out a double barrel shotgun, and Justin pulls out a hilt as a cyan colored beam of light extended out of it.
Sitting out in the bleachers, Teams RWBY, CFDT, JNPR, and GRMA all watched in excitement. They looked over to GUVV and saw the weapon Justin was holding.
"A lightsaber. That boy. Has. A FUCKING LIGHTSABER?!" Robert asked.
"That... is... AWESOME!" Ruby exclaimed as she then tries to run down the bleachers, but Yang grabs on to her. "Oh my gosh! How did he make that?! How did he do it?! What did he use?! I must know its secrets! It's so cool! Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!"
"Calm it down their, Ruby. We don't need you going weapons crazy again," Yang said, holding on to her sister.
"Allen, what do you make of it?" Britney asked.
Allen narrowed his eyes at the lightsaber for a moment, letting his semblance analyze it before speaking.
"Hard-light Dust is being used to manifest the blade and there is a capsule for other types of Dust to power up the blade for attacks," he said.
"So it won't cut through about anything like a normal lightsaber, but can use dust for other uses?" Jaune asked.
"Pretty much. But hey, this a step closer to creating an actual working lightsaber," Allen answered.
Just then, the P.A. goes off as Theodore spoke through it.
"Three! Two! One! GO!"
Teams JAAR and GUVV charged at each other as the battle now had begun. Azumi and Genji swung their guitars at each other and clashed, creating a small shockwave in the rushed at Uzra firing his pistols at her. She swerved around and dodged the shots coming towards her. Uzra gave a few swings at Watson with her sword as he stepped from side to side away from her attacks. Watson transformed Little Bladers into their karambit knives and swung them at Uzra who parried and blocked his attacks.
Jacket swings his bat at Justin who parried away his attacks. He swung at his opponent once more as Justin flips right over Jacket and swung his lightsaber at his back, knocking Jacket to the ground. Justin reached into his pocket and pulled out a small fire Dust crystal and opened a small hatch on the side of the hilt. He stuffs the crystal inside before closing it and the blade starts to glow red. Justin swung the lightsaber down at Jacket as a trail of fire followed behind it. Jacket rolled to the side at the last second, avoiding the attack. Justin gave several swings at Jacket as he dodged and rolled away from the attacks. He swung at Jacket once more as Jacket swung his bat, parrying the attack away.
Jason fires a couple shots at Jesse as he rolls away from the shot. Jesse fires off his twin sub machine guns at Jason in response. Jason quickly took his shotgun and transformed it into a bow staff, then twirled it around deflecting the bullets away from him. Jesse charges at Jason as he continues parrying the shots away. He transformed his sub machine guns into his machetes and activated his semblance. Everything slows down around Jesse as he gives a series of slashes at Jason. He stops his attacks and as soon as he deactivated his semblance, Jason drops down to the ground in pain. Jason held his hand up Just as Jesse swung one of his machetes down on Jason, his blade suddenly retracts away mid-air as if he had just hit something. Jesse tries attacking him again, but is met with the same result. Jason stood back up with a smirk on his face. Jesse reached out his hand as it was met with an invisible wall.
"What the hell is this?" Jesse asked.
The P.A. went off as Keaton spoke through it.
"Look at that, Jesse fell victim to Jason Vines's semblance, Mime."
"His semblance allows anything that he mimes to become physical ,like walls or barriers, though it remains invisible. However, he cannot speak when using it, or else everything he creates will disappear," Bellrose said.
Azumi transformed her guitar into her bow and fired a couple bolts of lightning at Genji as he quickly struck a chord on his guitar, blasting out a gust of wind propelling him away from the attacks. Genji transformed his guitar into a bow like Azumi and shot three fireballs at Azumi. She rolled away from the projectiles and shot an icicle at Genji as he shot another fireball. Bothshots clashed and exploded into a large cloud of steam. Genji looks through the steam trying to find Azumi. Suddenly Azumi jumps out from the cloud at Genji with One For All in its axe form. Genji transformed his bow into an ax like Azumi and blocked her attack. Azumi jumps away from Genji.
"You're gonna have to try something else, Azumi! My guitar has everything your guitar has!" Genji said.
"You mean like this?" Azumi asks as she then inhales.
"Sonic BOOM!'' she activates her semblance, unleashing a shockwave from her mouth, sending Genji out of the arena.
"Dammit!" Genji exclaimed in frustration.
"Genji is now out of the ring," Bellrose spoke from the P.A.
Watson gave a few swung his knives at Uzra as she steps away from each attack. Uzra slashed at Watson's torso, then his legs, making him fall to the ground. Watson gets up from the ground with a look of anger on his face. His hair lights up in blue flames as he lets out a battle cry. Watson charges over at Uzra and furiously swings his knives at her as she effortlessly dodges and blocks his attacks. After another swing from Watson, Uzra ducked and slashed at Watson's torso, and then a couple more at his back. Watson spins around as he swung one of his knives at his opponent, but she was quick to duck the attack and slash at his chest. Uzra followed this with a roundhouse kick to Watson's face knocking him to the ground as his aura flickered and the flames in his hair went out.
"Better luck next time," Uzra said.
"Watson's aura is now in the red zone. Tough break," Theodore said through the P.A.
"I really like Uzra's semblance, Prediction. It allows her to predict her opponent's next attack. I mean, not once Watson landed a hit on her," Keaton said.
"Only downside is that she can only focus on one person, or creature at a time," Ironwood said.
Justin gave several swings at Jacket with his lightsaber as he dodged and blocked his attacks. After another swing from Justin, Jacket jumps away from the attack.
"Not bad, is it?" Justin asked.
"Not as bad as this," Jacket replied as his eye started to glow green.
After a short moment, Justin grew a look of terror on his face as he turned around and ran out of the ring, screaming in terror.
"Looks like Justin Vines is out, thanks to Ornell 'Jacket' Ray's semblance, Fear Factor," Ozpin said.
"Yes, it allows him to inflict a dread of terror into his opponents through eye contact," Keaton said.
Suddenly, Jacket felt a sharp pain on his back and fell to the ground. He turns around to see Uzra pointing her pulwar sword at him. Before she could strike, Azumi charged over and swung One For All at Uzra, knocking her to the ground.
"Sonic BOOM!" she unleashed her semblance, launching Uzra out of the ring.
"Uzra is out by ring out," Bellrose announced over the P.A.
Jesse was trying to break through Jason's invisible wall with his machetes, but with no success.
"Gotcha!" Jason spoke.
Jason quickly whacks Jesse in the side of the head with the invisible wall now gone. He then in the stomach, knocking him to the ground. Before Justin could attack again, Jacket ran up and smacked him in the back, knocking him down to the ground. Justin quickly gets up from the ground, but before he could attack, Azumi approaches and sweeps her guitar at his feet, knocking him into the air. She then slams her guitar down on Justin's stomach, knocking him to the ground.
"Justin Vines's aura is now in the red. Team JAAR wins the match," Keaton announced through the P.A.
The students cheered and applauded as Azumi, Jesse, and Jacket ran over to Watson who was getting up from the ground.
"I'm the only one who went down in this team," Watson said.
"Well, you can't beat 'em all, Watson," Jesse said.
"Besides, our team still won," Azumi added.
As Teams JAAR and GUVV walked out of the arena, Keaton spoke through the P.A.
"Our next match will be a 1v1 style match. Professor Ozpin, who will be our random picks?"
"Our next match will be Britney Connor of Beacon Academy versus Hera Kingsley of Beacon Academy," Ozpin answered.
"Oh, boy," Ruby muttered.
"This is a disaster waiting to happen. Girlfriend versus ex-girlfriend," Rebecca said.
"Let's get this over with," Britney groaned.
"Good luck," Jacob said, then kissed her on the cheek.
Britney walks down from the bleachers and down into the arena as well as Hera. The two girls walked to the opposite ends of the ring and turned to face each other.
"So what does Jacob see in you?" Hera asked with a look of disgust.
"Not a cheap whore who cheats on him with her own brother, that's for damn sure," Britney answered.
"It was one time! He needed a confidence boost! Besides, maybe Jacob will take me back if I show him and everyone here just how much of a weakling you are," Hera said with a smirk.
"Says the fucking cunt that cried and bitched about getting hit once in a match," Britney retorted with a smirk of her own.
Hera growled as she and Britney drew their weapons. The screens above the bleachers displayed Britney and Hera's faces and their aura meters. Theodore spoke through the P.A.
"Three! Two! One! GO!"
Britney took her pistols and began to shoot at Hera, who ran away from the shots. Hera then charges at Britney, deflecting the shots away with her claymore sword. Britney stopped shooting and then changed Geminos from her pistols to her katanas. Hera swung her claymore at Britney to which she blocked with her katanas. Britney swings one of her katanas at Hera, while pushing her claymore back, but Hera grips onto the top handle with one hand and pulls out the hilt of the claymore, unsheathing a rapier. With the rapier, Hera blocks Britney's attack, then kicks Britney in the stomach, knocking her back. She gives several swings at Britney with her sword and rapier, but Britney manages to parry off her attacks. With her semblance, Britney wraps her right leg around Hera's left leg before headbutting her, knocking her to the ground. Hera slaps her hand on the ground in front of Britney as it then suddenly freezes over. Britney slaps and falls on her back.
General Ironwood then spoke over the P.A.
"Ms. Kingsley has now unleashed her semblance, Frozen Heart."
"Her semblance in a way is just like that of Cinder Fall's. The only difference is that instead of super heating objects and manipulating their shape, Hera can super cool them to the point of freezing them," Keaton explained.
Hera rushes over at Britney as she uses her katanas to stand back up and prevent herself from slipping on the frozen ground. She tries slashing at Britney, but her opponent blocks and parries all her attacks. Hera's rapier started to glow blue, then with one swing, a stream of water spewed out from it rushing at Britney. She raised her hand as the water froze up in ice. Britney bends her back backwards, avoiding the large ice projectile. She rushes over to Hera and quickly slashes at her torso, making her cry out in pain.
"You bitch!" Hera shouted.
Her rapier glowed yellow and Hera tried madly slashing at Britney with her sword, as Britney parried her attacks. Hera suddenly jabs her rapier into Britney's stomach, electrocuting her. Britney drops on one knee as Hera sheathes her rapier into her sword, making it into a claymore once again. Hera was about to swing down her weapon at Britney when suddenly, Britney connected her two katanas together into a double bladed sword. She rolled back away from Hera's attack, then slashed at her chest and spined around to slash at her back. Britney swung her weapon at Hera, which she was quick to block and both girls tried to push each other back.
"Just think of the things Jacob and I can do when I get him back!" Hera said with a smirk.
"Like Jacob would ever stick his dick in crazy!" Britney retorted. "He loves me!"
"Wanna bet?" Hera asked.
Hera grabs Britney's wrist as felt her wrist freeze up. Britney reeled her arm back from the frost bitten pain of Hera's semblance. Hera quickly kicks Britney in the stomach as her claymore starts to glow white. She swung her claymore unleashing a large blast of wind, knocking Britney out of the ring.
"Britney Connor is out of the ring. Hera Kingsley wins the match," Ozpin announced over the P.A.
The crowd burst out into a mix of cheering and booing. Hera walks out of the ring and approaches Britney who was getting up from the ground.
"Next time, know your fucking place. And Jacob is mine," Hera spoke with a smirk on her face.
Hera walks away, leaving a glaring Britney behind her. Sitting out in the bleachers, Teams RWBY GRMA, and JNPR, and Rebecca, Kendra, and Robert all looked down at Britney with worry and concern.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Pyrrha asked.
"Physically, yes. Emotionally, it doesn't look like it," Robert answered.
"Maybe we should go check on her when this is over," Yang said.
"Yeah, we'll do that," Jacob said.
