It had been December of last year, that he had turned seven. Him and Jamie, the neighbor's kid. He had heard from the foster home, that there had been some confusion at first. They looked exactly like each other, and were birthed on the same day. But after the Dna tests, it was quickly discovered that the two were not twins, as everyone still considered them.

It was fun at first, tricking the teachers, when they'd switch classes. Then the adults caught on, and Story soon found his little game turned around onto him. It didn't help that Jamie always told the truth. The Foster people had always told them that if they didn't stop, that they would wind up on Santa's Naughty List. Jamie quit the game, insisting that he wanted to stay on the Nice List, and Story found himself without a playmate in his games.

So Story continued to be 'naughty' by inventing a new way of getting into trouble. He'd always come up with wild stories and creative things to do, that the kids loved and the adults couldn't keep up with. And to top it off, he dyed his once brownish hair green, just to look different from Jamie.

Also from the beginning, he found himself with a power to create storytales into live moving pictures, from a misty smoke that he could create. Story learned that he saw things that most people missed, and that kids only learned to believe. Oh, he learned how to lie, a perfectly concocted tale of false information that the adults never found out of the truth. Story only lied to protect the other kids, when he felt like they needed it, and it always got him into trouble. And the kids always became friends with him for it, because they realized that he protected them in a way.

The adults always tried to get him to behave and calm down, but there was just something wildly driving him to do that thing, which no one else dared. Story never purposely harmed anyone, and if he did, it was only temporary and he apologized for it.

Story grinned as he saw a lanky boy shoot down the road, leaving frost and ice behind him. This boy wore a blue hoodie, that was lightly covered in frost, and his short wild white hair was wind swept and sticking out to everywhere.

Something within Story knew that boy. And loved him. It was none other than Jack Frost, a mischievous Winter Spirit. Story knew that Jack loved to have fun, just like himself, and loved to see the kids play in the very snow he created.

Story turned away to see the twins, Claude and Caleb. The two boys had dark skin and were known to be troublemakers themselves.

Story ran up past them and as he did so, he lightly punched Caleb in the shoulder and ran up to Jamie, hearing a playful shout.

"Hey, Jamie," Story said, as he slowed down to walk besides his friend and smiling mischievously. The Green haired boy waved his arm around, towards the now white ground. "Look at all of the snow."

"I know," Claude said, running past with his twin. "No school today."

"Snow Day!" Caleb shouted, as he stopped just enough to punch Story back on the shoulder. Story smirked as he saw Caleb then run off to catch up with his brother.

"Thank you," Story heard a new voice say. He glanced up to see the Winter Spirit lightly land nearby and an idea came to him.

"What?" Story asked, mischievously, looking at his friends. "But I had planned to take all your chicken nuggets at school today!"

"Nope! Not today Story!" Story heard Caleb holler out in excitement. "I wonder if we'll find the eggs in all of this snow!"

The green haired boy left Jamie, to run after the twins. He saw them start punching each other and he wanted to tussle with them a little.

"I hope so," Jamie said grinning, as he looked up from his book. Suddenly a strong gust of wind blew the book out of his hands and it landed on the ground near Story.

Story saw the book that Jamie had lost and he snatched it up before the snow could really get the pages wet. He looked at it, and smiled as Jamie took his book back.

"Anything interesting in the book, Jamie?" Story asked curiously, trying to see over Jamie's shoulder to see the item.

"Yeah," Jamie answered smiling. "It says that they found Bigfoot hair samples and footprints. In Michigan. That's like super close!"

Story chuckled as he saw the light in the boy's eyes. He knew that Jamie was thrilled about things like that. He was always trying to get proof that the legends were true.

"Not again," Story saw Claude exclaim and roll his eyes. "It's just a rumor, Jamie."

"You saw the video too," Jamie said in all seriousness. Story grabbed the book after the boy put it down and opened it up to look inside. He flipped the pages until he saw the bigfoot page and his eyes widened ever so slightly. It was a Yeti, Story recognized. It was a bit blurry because it was taken during a snow storm, but the boy could tell what it was.

"That's what you said about aliens," Story heard Caleb comment, as he looked up.

"And the Easter Bunny," Claude piped in, as he body flopped onto his twin.

"The Easter Bunny is real," Jamie retorted. "I mean who delivers all of the eggs?"

"Yup," Story said, looking up and putting the book down. The boy's green eyes sparkled in mischief as he noticed Jack hanging around the little group, as if looking for a chance to cause fun.

"Oh, he's real alright. Real annoying, real grumpy and really full of himself."

"He's real," Story said quickly, taking Jack's words, as he smirked. "He's really annoying, grumpy and so full of himself."

"Hey!?"

"You guys will believe anything," Claude said, rolling his eyes and shaking his head.

"I'm the one who will believe forever," Story reminded his friends, as he scooped up some snow. "I mean someone has to do it."

"Jamie!"

Story paused to see Jamie's mother walking up to Jamie, "Hat."

The green haired boy watched Jamie and his mother, while making a snowball. He also noticed little Sophie coming out to play as well, tripping over her own feet into the snow.

"Aw come on, mom," Jamie said, as his face reddened in embarrassment when his mother put a warm winter hat onto his head.

"Don't want Jack Frost nipping at your nose," She commented as Story watched her boop his nose.

"Who's Jack Frost?" Jamie asked curiously, as he looked up at his mother.

"Nobody, honey," Story heard, as she started to walk back to her house "It's just a saying."

"Hey!"

Story stopped what he was doing, as he felt that her comment was wrong. No, he knew that her remark was wrong. Jack Frost wasn't just a saying, Story thought as he looked to see Jack standing on the top of a fence and looking like he'd been rejected.

Story grinned as he ran from the area, to catch up with Jamie and the twins. And just as they reached the playground, Story looked back to see the Frost Spirit throw a snowball.

Story ducked in time and the snowball soared over him, hitting Jamie.

"Okay!" Jamie shouted out playfully and looking around for the culprit. "Who threw the snowball?"

"Wasn't the Bigfoot, that's for sure."

Story smiled as he saw Jack land in front of Jamie and Story quickly threw his snowball. He grinned as he saw it hit Monty and then another snowball hit Pippa.

"Jamie Bennett!" The girl yelled out happily. "No fair!"

"You should have been expecting it," Story said, chuckling.

Suddenly a snowball hit him, and he laughed after finding out that it came from Monty.

"Alright! Who wants ammo?!"

Story watched as Jack Frost created a bunch of snowballs with his staff, and watched the Winter spirit laugh as he got out of the way.

Story pulled on Claude's sleeve and pointed to the ammo, as if he made it for them.

"Thanks!" Claude exclaimed excitedly as he and his twin started throwing the snowballs. Story joined in, until one hit Cupcake.

Story, who was behind the rest of the kids, smiled as he saw the girl turn around. And she was not happy. He grinned as he saw Jack land on his staff, and throw a snowball at her.

A long moment passed, that felt like forever.

Cupcake started laughing and she abruptly ran towards them. The kids fled, and Story smiled as she barreled towards him, while laughing. He tossed a snowball at her and she returned his tiny snowball with the head of what was to be a snowman.

Story turned slightly and the ball of snow exploded as it hit him. It hurt a little, but he bent down and picked up another snowball.

"Snowball Fight!" Story then shouted out, announcing the start of a game. He grinned and threw the snowball at Jamie. "Every man for himself!"

Soon everyone was playing, Story saw, including Jack. Each were throwing and dodging snowballs, and the boy noticed that it seemed like the snowballs were in endless supply. Jack was laughing and hopping from spot to spot, occasionally tossing snowballs at them. It was so much fun, then suddenly he saw Jamie slip onto his sled and off into the road.

Jack quickly followed the wayward sled, and something inside Story instinctively acted.

"Nyfe!" Story quickly said, as he shook his hood. "Make sure that Jack doesn't do anything bad."

A dark pixie shot out from under the hood and looked around. Story looked at the black and white pixie, and pointed in a direction.

Nyfe turned around to see what Story pointed at and shot off towards the two, quickly catching up with the Winter Spirit. Jack smiled as he recognized his old pixie friend and he laughed as they both caught up with Jamie in his sleigh."

I gotcha, kid," Jack said mischievously as both matched speed with the sled.

"Be careful!" Nyfe shouted, his voice sounding like a windy pipe and pointing at the Winter spirit.

"Ah," Jack laughed. "Come to join us in the fun?"

"No," Nyfe said, in a mock seriousness, while trying to hide a smile. "Making sure that you don't give the boy a heart attack."

"Take a left!" Jack said mischievously, as he quickly created a ice ramp which forced the boy to change direction.

"See, Nyfe," Jack said playfully, as he looked at the pixie. "The boy's enjoying the ride."

"Jack!" Nyfe yelled, pointing at an upcoming vehicle. "Watch out!"

Jack Frost saw the uncoming truck and quickly made another ice ramp, causing Jamie to shoot up into the air.

Jack, Story and Nyfe, along with the other kids saw the boy land in a snowpile. And Story sighed in relief.

Jack landed on the top of the sculpture and grinned, watching them. Nyfe settled on the Frost Spirit's shoulder and waited in amusement.

The group, including Story, started heading to where Jamie was and watched as he abruptly popped up out of the snow pile. Unharmed.

"Didja guys see that?!" Jamie shouted out excitedly. "I was all over the place an-"

Story's eyes widened in surprise as Jamie got slammed by a fluffy red couch. Then a moment later, a hand popped up, with a tooth.

"Cool!" Claude exclaimed.

Story smiled as he watched the group surround Jamie. He watched them gather around the boy to look at the tooth and they all started to leave. Story sort of lagged behind after he looked up at Jack, and saw the Winter spirit's disappointment.

"You guys go ahead," Story said grinning and looking at them. He felt Nyfe settle down on his shoulder and start to climb back into the head part of his hoodie. "I'll catch up later."

The group then left, and Story watched Jack fly to the front of the group, in an attempt to get their attention.

Only to be walked through.

Story could feel the Winter Spirit's loneliness and disappointment. He watched as Jack Frost sighed and flew off into the sky. The boy frowned as Nyfe settled into his hood again and sigh in contentment. Story turned and looked at the chaos that Jack had caused, the traffic jam, and the confusion of the people. The boy then noticed faint colored lights in the sky and he blinked. It was gone, but it was enough to trouble the boy.

He turned away, sticking his hands into his hoodie. Deep in thought, Story walked out of the park and headed for home.
