"Story tell us another story!"
He smiled, his green eyes, sparkling in mischief.
"You want another story," The brown haired boy said, smiling at his eager audience. He glanced at Jack for a moment, noticing that the boy settled next to his eight year old little sister, called Flee. "I have saved the best for last! And I see that everyone is here now."
Story saw the little girl smile.
"Alright," The fourteen year old said grinning, and motioning to come closer. "Gather around, gather closer to me. Let me tell you of a story that is written on Mother Goose's book, a story that you guys are first to hear."
"Story," A woman said, as she walked by handing the teen a hot mug of cocoa. "They have to get home soon."
"This tale is going to be the best one yet," Story said after he took a sip and put it on the table beside him. "This one is about a noble warrior who gave his light to save a girl! Her name was Katherine."
"Not that one, Story," He heard the woman say.
"It has to be told!" Story said extravagantly, seeing her smile.
He returned the smile as the children gathered closer.
"It all started when a moonbeam strayed from dancing in the sky under the light of a full moon..."
Present
Nyfe flew as fast as he could, and as he did, unknowingly he started shining. He was on a mission, to find Jack. He darted through Santoff Clausen, and North's workshop, causing a ruckus. Sped through Sandman's island and then checked Tooth's place. Jack wasn't found. He then stopped to ask the winds, if they knew where Jack was. The cold south wind knew, and told him. So he sped quickly towards the south pole.
When he arrived, he saw Pitch was talking to Jack. The now shining pixie hid behind a rock, peered out and watched.
"We'll give them a world where everything, everything is-"
"Pitch black?" Jack said, his eyes narrowing.
Nyfe then realized that he was glowing, when he saw a patch of ice reflecting his light. The Pixie gasped and started digging into the snow, to cover his light. Finally sadisfide that his light was buried, he peeked out and saw the dark man look surprised.
"And Jack Frost too," Pitch said quickly. "They'll believe in both of us."
"No," Jack said. "They will fear both of us. That's not what I want. Now go away."
"Fine," Pitch said, and Jack turned and started walking away. "You want to be alone. Granted. But first."
Jack heard a familiar squeaking and he turned around to see Pitch holding Baby Tooth.
Nyfe's eyes widened in fear for the little fairy. The little pixie gasped as every instinct wanted to go save the little Fairy, but he also had to see what the boy did.
"The staff Jack!" The Boogeyman demanded. "You have a bad habit of interfering. Hand the staff to me and I'll let her go."
Nyfe saw the Frost Spirit hesitate.
"Blast him," Nyfe whispered. "You do it and I will fight with you."
The Pixie saw Jack sigh and flip the staff around, and offer it to Pitch.
Nyfe shook his head, as if telling the boy no, and watched the Boogeyman take it.
"Now Let her go," Jack said, holding his hand out.
"No," Pitch said smugly.
Nyfe growled, pulling out his dagger.
"You said that you wanted to be alone," Pitch said coldly. "So be alone!"
Nyfe shot out of hiding and shot at Pitch. At the same moment both Pixie and Fairy hurt the evil man. Pitch recoiled in pain as he felt two stings, one on his hand and the other on his face. In a quick movement he threw Baby Tooth and then hit Nyfe with the staff. Then in a fluid motion, he grinned as he looked at Jack, and cracked the staff in half over his knee.
Jack cried out expecting pain, but instead felt a slight loss of power. Before he could turn his attention back to Pitch, he was slammed with dark sand. It punched him hard and he fell down a ravine. The last thing the Frost Spirit saw was the dark form of the Boogeyman chuckling as the broken staff landed next to him. Then everything went black, as Jack fell into unconsciousness.
The Pixie King landed lightly on his feet, and walked to a tree. He stopped before it and looked up at a sleeping creature.
It was a feline hybrid known as the Cheshire Cat. He was called Jynx and always referred himself as the Prince of Cheshire. The purplish colored feline, Story knew. And had told a tale with the Cat in it. But this wasn't just any cat, the Pixie knew this creature to be one of the Children of Chaos.
"Great Prince," Story said, as he got onto a knee and bowed to the feline. "I come to you in need of help."
Story heard a yawn and the Pixie King glanced up to see the Cheshire cat stretching. He waited until Jynx had finished and looked at him, the cat's amber eyes glinting in mischief.
"My help?" Jynx said, chuckling slightly. "This is certainly th' first time that th' Pixie King comes t' meh t' meh askin' for help."
"I need help to defeat or stop Pitch Black," Story said warily, not entirely trusting the cat. "I will take any assistance that you have."
"You do know that you coming to me, tha' I will ask for something in return?"
"I do," The Pixie King answered.
"Artemis," Jynx said after a moment, hopping out of the tree and walking up to the large Pixie. "You know what, I'll let y' pass on this this, mostly because the price to pay will be heavy."
Story looked confused for a moment and the feline smiled sadly.
"I know what you want to do," Jynx said, wiggling his finger at the Pixie and getting closer to his face. "Not everyone will get their happy ending this time, Artemis. It will be in your hands this time to choose who gets the short stick, with Pitch."
Story looked down and frowned.
"Someone has to pay the heavy cost,"The Cheshire cat said grinning. He started fading as Story slowly looked back up "This time you aren't just the story teller. You are the Puppet Master in this tale."
