Leaf lurked behind that laboratory wall, just waiting for the best moment to invade the place. It was still occupied by Oak and his assistants.

They will never get out of there, she complained. Her feets were already tired and boredom dominated her. All that was left to do was trying to figure out inside her mind what kind of interest Giovanni might have in that boring, rural little town.

As the sky began to darken, Leaf heard the sound of footsteps. She looked over the wall and saw some of the assistants leave the lab, without lab coats.

Some members followed later, and lastly Oak. He locked the door of the place with a key, then left.

Leaf got out of the middle of those foliage and walked towards the laboratory door. From her purse, she pulled out a bobby pin. Then she bent it and jammed it into the lock, being careful with her handling.

It had been a long time since she had broken down a door so it was a bit rusty.

"Just a little more...", she said wiping the sweat from her hand. Nerves etched on her forehead, signaling that she was very focused on the task at hand.

Okay.

The door opened.

Slowly, Leaf entered the place, peering with her eyes. There were several bookshelves, a desk full of papers, a few computers and potted plants. On a table, protected by a glass dome, were three Poké Balls.

She located Oak's computer next to his desk. She walked towards it and sat in the chair next to a table.

The machine turned on.

"Enter password," prompted the computer.

Leaf took the small paper out of her bag.

I hope this stupid password is right.

She typed the password "ILovepokemon123". Access has been granted.

She rolled her eyes.

Now came the most difficult task, finding the file.

She typed in the word "Mew".

The computer began searching through the thousands of files. Leaf watched, bored, while an magnifying glass animation was rolling on the screen. By the looks of it, that search would take a good few hours to complete.

She got up from her chair and started looking through Oak's things.

Now that I'm here, it doesn't hurt to steal a few things...

She examined the drawers. From there she took out some empty Poké Balls and potions. She kept it in her purse.

She was attracted by the dome. She carefully removed the glass lid and picked up one of the Poké Balls.

Which pokemon will it be?, she asked curiously as she looked at the sphere.

She put it inside her purse.

Leaf walked back to the computer. The search had shown a result. A file called "Mew.txt".

She took the diskette out of her bag and transferred the file to it.

Mission accomplished.

However, curiosity took over and she decided to open the file to find out what all that was about. After all, if Giovanni was willing to pay a lot of money for that information, it was certainly something extremely important. She clicked on the file with the mouse.

" Mew is such a rare pokémon that even today many experts treat it as if it were some kind of myth or mirage. [...]

Only a select number of people claim to have seen the Pokémon firsthand. It has a pink skin and, by all indications, belongs to the psychic type.

Apparently it only appears to those with a pure heart who have a strong desire to see it. [...]

Its DNA is said to contain the genetic code of every Pokemon in existence, so it knows all kinds of moves. For this reason, many believe that Mew is the ancestor of all Pokémon [...]"

Then there were some pictures in very low quality of what the pokémon should look like. Leaf, however, couldn't see anything but several pink blurs.

They also had a lot of scientific data written in a language she couldn't even understand.

When she finished transferring the file to the floppy disk, she put it in her purse and turned off the computer.

She left through the front door.

"Get out, Jiggly", she called the pokémon out of the pokéball.

Jiggly became a ball of air. Then Leaf grabbed the pokemon and flew through Pallet's sky, with deep thoughts in her head.

Whatever Giovanni planned to do with that information, her intuition was telling her it wasn't anything good. But, at the end of the day, she really didn't care. After all, all that mattered was that she would receive her promised money for the task.

The night winds drove the great balloon through the air.
