Welcome back to The Injustice Wars! Last time, Batman made his return with a mystery in Gotham, calling on the Legion and Republic for help, which Blaze playfully mocked him for. But the situation is quite serious, involving the destructive duo of Reverse Flash and Livewire. But for what means? Perhaps we'll find out today. Read on to discover the truth...
(Our story resumes not with Blaze and company, but rather in an abandoned power station on the outskirts of Gotham City, where a familiar streak of red lightning dashes through the building, before revealing the yellow man in the lightning, Eobard Thawne, the Reverse Flash. And as he arrives, he's just taking a seat, letting his legs recover from all the running, but he doesn't get to sit long, as a familiar armored ape arrives)
Grodd: This is no time to be sitting around, Thawne! There's work to be done!
Reverse Flash: Listen you stupid ape, you've had me running around Gotham for three days straight! Even a Speed Force conduit needs a minute to rest!
Grodd: You would be wise not to argue with me, human.
Reverse Flash: And you would be wise to remember that I can erase you from the timeline like that. (Snaps)
(Just as the two appear to be getting into an argument, a flash of electricity enters through the background, revealing a woman in black with blue skin)
Livewire: Sheesh. And here I thought I was getting away from guys acting like idiots.
Grodd: And where have you been?
Livewire: Since when was I a part of your Society? Last I checked, I was an independent contractor.
Reverse Flash: As was I.
Grodd: Look. This is clearly not the arrangement I was hoping for. The last two years have not gone according to plan, not even in the slightest. Most of the Society is either dead or defected. At the moment, you two and Cheetah are all I have left, and even she's thinking about leaving.
Reverse Flash: Don't try the sympathy play with me. You know as well as I do that the only reason I'm still in this is because I can't go back to the future without getting erased from existence myself.
Grodd: Just work with me here.
Livewire: Then you just keep your end of the deal and we'll be alright.
Grodd: Fulfill your end and I will.
Livewire: Would be a little easier if I knew what our end even was.
Reverse Flash: That's what I'd like to know. What are we even doing here?
Grodd: Brainiac has requested the plan remain hidden for now.
Livewire: Keeping the plan a secret from even the people operating it. Not the smartest move.
Grodd: Patience, everything will make sense in time. Just tell me you've got the power route figured out.
Livewire: You forget, Grodd. Ever since I got my powers, I've known exactly where every single electron flows. I know the route back here like the back of my hand.
Grodd: That's all I need to know.
(And with that, Gorilla Grodd leaves the room, leaving his lightning-oriented compatriots still unsure of what's even going on here.)
Livewire: Is he always this cryptic?
Reverse Flash: Before Brainiac made himself known; he was worse.
Livewire: Yikes.
Reverse Flash: Well, I'm rested, might as well get back to work.
Livewire: Whatever.
(And as the two of them get back to their task, we focus our attention to a blown transformer, where Batman appears to be investigating, alongside Blaze, Flash, Supergirl, and Power Girl.)
Flash: (Feeling the air around him) Definite Negative Speed Force energy. Thawne's definitely been here.
Blaze: Yet we still have no idea why.
(And just as the group starts their investigation, four other figures enter the scene: Jay Garrick, Belial Aether, Blitz, and strangely Aero.)
Jay Garrick: Sorry we're late.
Batman: Better late than never.
Blaze: I always thought you were a "better three hours too soon than a minute late" type of guy.
Batman: I'm trying to be a little more relaxed, for the sake of my blood pressure.
Blitz: Wouldn't have expected the Dark Knight to have high blood pressure.
Blaze: Good to see you could make it Blitz.
Blitz: Electricity vs Electricity, made complete sense.
Blaze: What happened to Jefferson?
Blitz: Black Lightning's giving the State of the Union Address tonight. He's been under tight security all day.
Blaze: I keep forgetting he's also the President.
Belial Aether: So we've got an electrokinetic and a speedster running around Gotham, eh?
Blaze: That's the situation. (Looking over at Aero) What's the kid doing here?
Aero: I really needed to get out of the base for a bit. That mountain cave gets pretty stuffy after a while.
Belial Aether: Who was I to deny the kid some field experience.
Blitz: I get it entirely kid. I was the same when I was starting out.
Batman: Good. The whole team is here.
Blaze: Well, Bruce. This is your investigation, you're in charge. What's the plan?
Batman: I've got Blue Beetle at the main power station tracking surges. I told him to signal me the minute he had any sort of info.
(And soon enough, Batman's communication system starts ringing off)
Batman: That's him now. (Turns on his communicator, on speaker) Jaime, what've you got?
Blue Beetle: Plenty. You're going to need to get down here, stat.
Batman: We're on our way.
(Without saying a word beyond that, Batman gets in his Batmobile and drives off, leaving the rest to follow in his wake as our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. Livewire has made her official debut, and the Society is the one behind this strange operation. But what is Brainiac planning? We'll find out soon enough, so be sure to tune in for that! Same time... same channel!
