Questioning:
Levi's POV
Closing the door to my quarters, I stood there in the dimness, wondering why I had just carried Uma out of the rain. My hair and clothes were completely soaked through and I was already frustrated with myself for not being able to leave her out there. Looking down at the floor, I glared at the puddle of rainwater growing at my feet, daring it to soak into the wood and warp it. What a mess.
I had been writing my report on today's mission when the downpour had started. I left my desk to close the window behind me and I saw Uma still lying in the position she had collapsed in. If she didn't come inside, she'd most likely catch her death out there. She showed no signs of movement, though. Apparently she wasn't capable of the effort. It was pathetic.
I hadn't expected her to follow my punishment to the letter as she did. What orders she chose to obey and disregard were damn ridiculous. I should have just left her outside. She wanted to play hero so bad, maybe she'd like playing martyr even more. I closed the window and went back to my desk to finish my report. The most frustrating part about this was I knew I was going to go out there even before I picked up my pen again. I wasn't even a sentence in before I pushed myself out of my chair and headed for the door. Like I said before, what a mess.
Making my way through the dimness, I reached up and began working at the knot of my cravat. Loosening it, I pulled the wet fabric from my neck and hung it over the back of my desk chair to dry. Putting on a fresh pair of clothes, I turned up the flame of my oil lamp and sat down to finish my report. Scanning what I had already written, I finally came to the part about Uma's insubordination. It was as expected, cut and dry, lacking in any dramatics or exaggeration. When spelled out so simply, it didn't seem like much. Still, Uma had outright disobeyed my orders and she was defiant when I confronted her about it. This was unacceptable. I always expected a level of rebelliousness from her, but to have her fuck things up so fast… she was making this transition impossible. There wasn't much I could do to defend her anymore even if I wanted to. This report would sink her.
The way she moved though... I kept thinking about it, how I couldn't catch her in the forest. She slipped from my grasp more than once. She was nimble and evasive just like she was with Oluo during combat drills. It was more than impressive. If she could just straighten her ass out, we'd have no more problems.
Picking up my quill again I took out a new piece of paper and copied my report over again, only leaving the incident with Uma out of it. In my opinion, I had already dealt with the situation and Erwin didn't need to know. We had a five-day leave coming up and if Uma didn't show me a damn good reason to keep her on my squad then she was out with no questions asked.
AN: Review, favor, follow! Sorry for the short chapter everyone, Levi is a man of few words and I guess it shows. The next chapter will be much longer I promise! Also, Levi's stubbornness may lead him to some trouble later ;)
