I guess I'll have to reconsider my opinion about that boy (Aarin). He wasn't part of the plan but he certainly helped directly cheer up three Mashiros. He also indirectly cheered up Rima and her unborn sister. He brought the family together without even knowing it.

Rhythm: A bunch of stuff happened last chapter

Kusukusu: *blushes*

Rhythm: You're blushing?

Kusukusu: Last chapter I dreamed about you and I said it out loud

Rhythm: Oh yeah! That was cute!

Kusukusu: Cute? *blushes more*

Chapter 26 She Can See Clearly Now

*Amu's POV*

I woke up to a scream.

"What!? Who!? Where!?"

"There's an egg," Nade said.

"What!?" Utau and I yelled at the same time. The pop star and I looked at Nade. She was pointing at her pillow. There was egg on her pillow. It looked exactly like Temari and Rhythm's eggs except this one was purple instead of pink or blue.

"A new chara!" Ran cheered.

"What the hell!" Nade fell off the bed. I had never heard Nade curse before. It seemed out of character for her.

"Are you alright Nade-desu?" Su asked.

"You see them too right?!" Nade asked Utau and me.

"Yes you're not going crazy. They are really there. Come back on the bed and Amu and I will explain shugo chara to you," Utau said. Nade sat back on the bed.

"Shugo chara or guardian characters are a piece of yourself that you want to be," I began to explain.

"Does everyone have one?"

"No, only people who fully believe in themselves have them," Utau answered.

"Why couldn't I see them before?" Nade asked as she poked El to see if she was real.

"You have to be a chara bearer to see them yourself. This egg is you chara. Also little kids can see them and adults that are children in their hearts but they are either too young or too old to have charas of their own. Charas can be born as early as kindergarten and last till you're an adult. Ikuto still has his chara," I said.

"Ikuto has a chara? Does Nagi have one?" I asked.

"He has two. Most chara bearers get one chara but there are a few exceptions. Rei, Aarin, Nagi, and I have two also and Amu has four," Utau explained.

"Does everyone but me have one in this group?"

"Yes, Leo and Blue don't have one. Nami has one too. Also we're almost certain Lulu has one," I said.

"Lulu has a chara?"

"We never actually saw it," Miki pointed out.

"But we sensed it when we were around her," Il informed.

"Shugo chara. What will my chara be like?" Nade asked as she picked up the purple egg.

"It depends on what you wish to be," Dia said.

"Is there a certain time that it hatches?"

"No, that's up to you. You already believe in yourself enough to have a chara egg but the chara will still hide if you don't fully believe," Utau said.

"I can't wait."

"A warning though. Charas can disappear as fast as they can appear. If you start to doubt yourself then your egg will disappear. Of course we'll help you if that happens but you need to know that charas are a lot of work," Utau warned.

"You make us sound like pets," Miki sweatdropped.

"I got it," Nade said. She had a big smile on her face. I'm glad she in able to be herself.

"Nagihiko!"

"Nagihiko!"

"Nagihiko!"

"I'll be up in a minute Rima. It's weird to hear for call me my full name," he said.

"I'm not Rima and I have news for you. Wake up!"

"Nade?" He moved a bit which made Rima wake up.

"What's wrong?" she asked sleepily.

"I have a chara egg," I said.

"That's great," he said not even thinking. He snuggled Rima close to him and was about to go back to sleep when it finally hit him.

"You have a chara egg!"

"Who has a chara egg?" Rima asked sleepily.

"Nade," he answered.

"What?!" She was now fully awake. They looked at my egg.

"It looks like ours Temari," a boy chara with long hair and headphones said

"You're right!" I assumed was Temari agreed.

"Maybe twins have similar eggs. The charas themselves might be different but the eggs are the same," Rima guessed.

"Nade can see us!" A clown chara cheered.

"Are you Rima's chara?" I asked.

"Yes! Kusukusu at your service. This is Rhythm and that's Temari. They're Nagi's charas," she said as she bowed.

"It's great that you finally get to see us. It's been hard to communicate with the bearers when you were around," Rhythm said.

"Was I in the way?" I asked. It explains why they were being secretive around me.

"No not at all!" Rhythm said trying to rephrase his statement.

"What he means it that it would be difficult to talk to each other when you were around. He also means that you would ask questions and it's hard to explain shugo chara without seeing them. You would think that they were crazy," Temari explained.

"Your voice...I've heard it before," I said.

"You don't have to pretend in front of the group. Just be yourself Nadeshiko."

"I swore I heard something."

"You were in the bathroom with me!" I said as it finally came to me.

"Yes that was me," she admitted.

"How long have you guys had your charas?" I asked.

"Elementary school," Rima said.

"Same with me. Temari came first then Rhythm," Nagi said.

"So they're big sister and little brother like us," I said.

"I guess. I never thought of that before," he said. He seemed a bit embarrassed.

"We'll have to go and introduce you to all the charas," Nagi said.

"I want to get dressed first. Since there are two girls and one boy that means we outnumber you. Go," Rima said.

"Alright. No need to be cranky," he teased.

"I hate mornings," she whined.

"Rima acts different in the morning," I sweatdropped.

"She's not a morning person. It will take her a few minutes to go back to normal," Kusukusu informed.

"Let me grab a change of clothes then I'm leaving," Nagi said. He got up, grabbed a change of clothes, and left closing the door with Rhythm right behind him.

"Now I can change," Rima said.

*Rima's POV*

I looked around for an outfit. My brain wasn't totally awake yet.

"Rima?"

"What's up Nade?"

"Utau told me that charas can disappear as fast as they appear. Is that true?" She seemed worried.

"Yes it's true but once they show up they usually stay. There's only been a few times where they've gone back in their eggs too soon. Rei' heart wavered and Angel went back in her egg. Jazlynn was also an X chara. Cass was too. Also Amu had a hard time with Dia coming out of her egg. Also Nagi told me that he had a hard time with Rhythm and Temari at one time. All of them are here and well now." I said as I began to change my clothes.

"Jazlynn? Cass? Angel?"

"Jazlynn and Angel are Rei's charas and Cass is one of Aarin's," Kusukusu explained.

"There's also another terrible way to keep a chara in their eggs," I said seriously. She looked at me surprised.

"Is it that bad?"

"There was a company called Easter. It was run by Utau and Ikuto's step-father. They made something we call X tape. It forces a chara to stay in their egg," I said.

"It was so scary!" Kusukusu said.

"It happened to you?" she asked my chara.

"Last year, Easter bribed Rei and Aarin. They stole Kusukusu and Rhythm from us and used the X tape on them," I said.

"Rei used to be bad?" she asked surprised.

"Yes. Last year; Rei, Aarin, and Nami were enemies but now they are our best friends and they don't work for Easter anymore. Easter is actually a good company now," I said.

"I haven't actually gotten to know Nami very much," Nade said.

"Her chara just hatched before this trip. I wonder how she's doing."

*Nami's POV*

"I hate this Kaya. We're prisoners and to make it worse you could be turned into a ? chara at any time," I said.

"Don't worry Nami. I'm sure Rei and the others will help us," she said.

"I don't know about that. Rei and Aarin are immune for now with the necklaces I gave them but Lulu made them. Who knows what will happen? Also half of them can't charanari like me. Also they'll hate me now," I said.

"Have faith in your friends," she said.

"It's hard to when you don't really have too much faith in yourself."

"I'm still here with you. That means you still believe in yourself. Don't give up! If you do then Lulu and your step-father win," she said. I smiled at her.

"You're right. Also when we escape, how am I going to tell them if I'm not positive. I promise we'll get out of here," I said.

"Good luck getting past the guards," Kaya encouraged.

"I have an idea. When Lulu leaves me here, you can sneak past the guards unnoticed since they can't see you. Then while Lulu makes ? eggs, you'll warn everyone," I said.

"Awesome plan!"

"Except there's one flaw. If Lulu catches us then she'll turn you into a ? egg," I said.

"We have to at least try."

"You're right. We need to wait for the perfect time. We can't do it right away. Sitting and waiting for the right time is the smartest move."

*Utau's POV*

"I can't believe that all of you had a chara," Nade said. We were all in Amu, Nade, and my room with all the charas. We introduced them to her. Of course they were all excited that they could talk to Nade now.

"This is amazing. I would never had thought that something like charas would exist," Nade said.

"That's why you can't really tell other people about them. They will think you're crazy," Tadase said.

"I thought I was going crazy when I saw three eggs in my bed," Amu admitted.

"I also freaked out," Nade said. I noticed that Nade started to relax more and use slang. She also stopped using honorifics. She must be comfortable with us now or at least more than she was. This is what having a chara does to someone. There was a knock on the door.

"Come in," I said. Blue popped her head in.

"Oh sorry I didn't mean to interrupt anything. I was hoping I could talk to Utau-chan," she said.

"Alright, we'll go in your room since mine is a little full," I said. I followed her. My charas were on my tail.

"What do you think she wants?" El asked.

"Who knows." Il said. I didn't know either. If it was something about the tour then she would talk to Rei, Aarin, or Sanjo too. Why just me? Blue opened her door and let me in. She then came in and closed the door.

"What's up?" I asked.

"Utau-chan I..." She looked like she wanted to say something but she didn't know what to say.

"You don't have to call me Utau-chan. I know you're trying to be considerate about our culture but we've been on tour together for two months now. Utau is fine," I said. Hopefully that would calm her down a bit.

"You're friends with Nade right?"

"Yeah. Why do you ask?"

"I didn't know who I could tell but I worry about Nade," she said as she looked at the floor.

"Why? Did something happen?" I asked.

"Not yet but I fear that Leo will break her heart," she said.

"What!?" Il and El yelled at the same time. I managed to keep my cool.

"What do you mean?"

"Leo is known for breaking girls hearts. Girls are just something fun to play with to him. His relationship with Nade is probably the longest he's ever had," she said.

"How do you know?"

"About a week ago Leo and I were talking. He let something slip."

"I'm glad you've been able to stay with Nade this long. Honestly I was shocked. You might be getting serious," Blue teased.

"Yeah maybe."

"I'm surprised that it's a younger girl. I know you've really been into older girls."

"That's because younger girls are too easy to fool."

"What?"

"You heard me."

"Are you...using Nade?" Blue asked shocked.

"I didn't say that."

"Leo! She's a really nice girl, probably the nicest you've dated."

"It's none of your business Blue. Why do you always have to stick your nose in to others business?"

"It's just yours."

"Why?"

"Because I care! You're my best friend in the whole wide world but ever since we met our manager and started Double Trouble you've been acting like a spoiled brat. Who do you think cleans up your messes? Everything you do affects our band. This is our dream. Why are you wasting it but being stupid?"

"Shut up Blue! I didn't change, you did! You're always acting like an older sister around me. I'm not someone you have to babysit. Just back off. Don't worry about my plans for Nade. They don't concern you," he yelled.

"We have to tell Nade," I said.

"That might not be a good idea! Nade just got her chara. If you tell her then she'll be crushed and it might go away," Il said.

"But if Nade finds out on her own then it might crush her more. There's nothing worse than a broken heart," El said. I knew that both of them were right. How do you break that delicately to someone.

"I've tried this whole week to say something but it wouldn't come out. Every time I got Nade alone Leo would show up or one of you would take her away. I thought that maybe if I told someone else that was close to her then maybe they could stop Leo. He's my best friend and I don't want to betray him but..."

"I sense one bar of love!" El said. That explains it.

"You like him don't you?" I asked. She looked at me shocked.

"You don't want to interfere with his love life but you don't want him to date Nade. You want him to break up with her but you don't want him to hurt her," I said.

"It's true that I like Leo. When we were kids he protected me from bullies. That's how we became best friends. He was troubled but I thought I was helping him. We both shared a dream of being in a band. A year ago, when we were fifteen, we played at my uncle's restaurant. That's where our manager discovered us. We were so excited that our dream was coming true. Leo then changed. He became obsessed with fame. He felt as if he was on the top even when we just started out. This tour is the biggest thing we've ever done. I fear that I can't help him," she said as tears spilled down her face.

"She's crying!" Il yelled.

"There's no need for tears. I'll tell Nade what you think," I promised.

"Thank you." There was a knock on the door.

"Hey Blue, are you decent?" Leo asked.

"Yes, you can come in," she said. He opened the door and was surprised that I was there.

"What are you doing here?" he asked. I didn't miss him looking at Blue for a quick second to see what we were talking about.

"Nothing much. Blue had an idea that you two could sing with us. All five pop stars on stage at once would get the crowd excited. Of course we wanted it to be a surprise but I guess we can't keep a secret from you Leo," I lied.

"That sounds pretty cool. Blue, you should speak up then if you got cool ideas like that," he said.

"Sorry, like Utau said, it was supposed to be a surprise," Blue said with a smile.

*Rima's POV*

"Hey Rima, wanna go for a walk?" Nagi whispered.

"Sure, it's getting a bit crowded here," I said. He let Nade know where they were going then we left. All three of our charas were sitting on Nagi's shoulders.

"It feels great to be outside," Kusukusu said as she stretched.

"You bet," Rhythm cheered.

"Why did you want to go for a walk?" I asked Nagi.

"To out it into Rei and Nade's terms, I didn't get enough Rima time," he said. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Wow," RhyThm said.

"Shush," Temari warned.

"There's a chara nearby!" Kusukusu announced.

"Where?" I asked.

"That way!" Kusukusu said as she pointed to a huge group of people.

"How are we to find one chara?" I asked.

"It's like finding a needle in a hay stack," Nagi said.

"It seems familiar but I can't tell," Kusukusu said.

"I feel it too," Rhythm said.

"I've felt this before too," Temari confirmed.

'It's on the tip of my tongue," Kusukusu said.

"Let's find it then," I said. Nagi and I maneuvered in the crowd. Many would bump into us. One of then stepped on Nagi's boot. He flinched but kept moving.

"How is your foot?" I asked.

"It's fine." I gave him a look that meant that I didn't believe him.

"Really! It hasn't been bothering me. The boot on the other hand in really annoying," he admitted.

"Alright. Kusukusu, can you sense it still?" I asked changing the subject.

"That way!" All three charas pointed the same way.

"Let's hurry," Nagi said.

*Mrs. Fujisaki's POV*

Easter is a very powerful business that ranges from food to entertainment. Kazuomi Hoshina is the director of this big company.

"Hoshina? Isn't that the same last name as one of Nagihiko's friends?" I asked myself.

Easter is most known for their former pop star, Utau Hoshina. She left the company with her manager to start an independent business.

"Utau Hoshina, she must be related to Kazuomi Hoshina some how. I know that she's one of Nagi's friends but what does he have to do with Easter?" I thought out loud.

"I'm sorry ma'am but the library is closing. We need to shut down the computers now." a young woman informed.

"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to stay this long," I said.

"You're looking up Easter?" she asked.

"Yes I am."

"Utau Hoshina step-father owns that company. Apparently she left Easter to sing for Sanjo Productions. Know one knows why really," the young librarian informed.

"Sorry to stay so late. I will leave now," I said. I bowed and walked out. So whatever happened with Utau, it involved my son. Rei and Aarin sing with Utau at Sanjo Productions. That must mean that whatever happened involved them too. That means Rima must be involved which means Nagihiko was caught up in it too. Nagihiko, what did you get yourself into?

*Nagi's POV*

"We've been going in circles," Rima complained.

"I think the chara is gone," Temari said.

"Wait a minute! I sense a ? egg now!" Rhythm said. As if on que, I felt the heat creep up on me. It was already hot outside now I have this. It's killing me. Wait that means Rima is cold. I looked at her. She was shivering in this eighty degree weather.

"Over there!" Kusukusu said. That when we saw him. It was a boy about our age. He looked super happy.

"Everyone should be athletic!" he cheered. Suddenly people around him began to start running in place or doing push ups.

"This is Rima's worst nightmare!" Kusukusu said.

"Forced athletic labor," Rima gasped. My charas and I sweatdropped.

"Seriously," Rhythm said.

"You two! Be athletic!" the boy said.

"Rhythm!" I called.

"Got it!" The headphones popped on my shoulders. I picked Rima up and jumped out of the way.

"Nagi! You shouldn't character change with your leg," Rima scolded.

"I'm fine. I can't really charanari but I can at least get you out of harms way," I said.

"Nagi," she said shocked.

"Call everyone and get them down here! We can't charanari. We're gonna need Amu or Utau," I said.

"Athletic!" I jumped out of the way again. I still have this stupid boot on but at least I'm fast enough to dodge. I'll protect you Rima.

*Utau's POV*

"Hey Nade, where's everyone else?" I asked as I made it back into our room.

"I heard something about truth or dare in the living room. I didn't want to get involved," she explained.

"Good because I'd like to talk to you," I said. How was I going to break this to her?

"Is it about my chara?"

"No, it's about Leo."

"Leo?"

"Yeah, I'm afraid that he's going to break you heart," I said as softly as I could.

"What? There's no way Leo would do that," she said.

"When you two are together I detect one bar of love. That means only one of you actually care about the other," El said.

"Leo is just playing with you," Il said.

"No, this isn't funny," Nade said.

"Listen Nade, you might be pissed at me right now but you needed to know. I'm afraid that if he breaks your heart then you'll be so upset your chara will go away," I said honestly. Nade is good at acting like me. If I lied to her then she'd think I was lying about Leo. She can't lose her chara after she just got it.

"Do you have proof?" Nade asked. Her voice was a tone higher. That meant she was either super angry or she was about to cry.

"Someone told me that Leo is known as a heart breaker. He's a ladies man," I said.

"It was Blue, right? She's the only one out of all of us that knows his the most," she said.

"I can't lie to you. She told me that Leo thinks younger girls are easier to fool. She told me that he has plans for you and they can't be good," I admitted.

"That can't be true," she said as tears fell down her face.

"Listen, I'm not saying end it with him but be on guard. If he starts to act different in a bad way then it's time to end it with him. If he changes for the better than Blue was wrong," I said.

"Alright, I'll keep my guard up. I just feel like I won't be honest with him," she said.

"At this point, I don't think he's being honest with you," I said.

"How can you tell?"

"What's his favorite color?"

"Uh"

"Favorite sport"

"Um"

"What are his hobbies besides singing?"

"I dont' know."

"See, he's not telling you anything about him. That's not a real boyfriend," I pointed out.

"What about Kukai?"

"What about him?"

"Do you know his favorite color?"

"Orange"

"Favorite sport?"

"Soccer of course."

"Hobbies besides soccer?"

"Kukai like just about any sport. His second favorite is basketball. He also loves ramen contests, and if he's not doing that then he's hanging out with his friends. He also likes to wrestle with his brothers," I listed.

"Wow, I never knew you knew so much about him," she said.

"Of course, he's really important to me so I try to know everything about him," I said. She smiled at me. Then I felt it. The burn that seemed to be trapped in my body.

"Utau!" I heard as the door opened.

"What's wrong?"

"It's Rima and Nagi! They've been attacked by a ? egg. They can't charanari so we have to hurry!" Amu said.

"I'm coming," I said.

"What's wrong with them?" Nade asked.

"It's about time Amu and I showed you what can happen with charas," I said. We ran into the living room to see the cold people holding their stomachs.

"They feel bad again!" Yaya said. All the boys except Tadase held their stomach as if they had really bad stomach cramps.

"We need to help Nagi and Rima. If they're feeling bad then Rima is too!" Tadase informed.

"Also Nagi has a boot on," Nade said.

"Yaya, Tadase, Nade, Utau; follow me. Aarin and Rei, you stay here help them," Amu said.

"Got it!" everyone said. We all left and began to follow Amu.

"We'll have to be careful since last time we burned through are energy too fast," Tadase said.

"Right," Amu agreed.

"Please explain to me what's going on," Nade begged.

"Your brother and Rima were attacked by a ?egg. We don't know how they are formed but we know that every time a ? egg shows up all of us with charas either get really hot or really cold. Everyone that gets cold has been recently getting sick while the people who get hot burn though our charanari's really fast," I explained.

"What's a charanari?" I asked.

"It's the power transformation charas give you when you believe in yourself. Since the cold people are injured they can't charanari. Your brother can't charanari since he's been injured," I explained.

"Rima said that he was at least able to character change with Rhythm. They are able to dodge," Amu added.

"Character change?" Nade asked.

"It something that every bearer can do. It's a little bit of power a chara gives you but you look the same except for a little change. That's the difference between a charanari and a character change," I said.

"Like this! Ran!" Amu called.

"Right!"

"Hop! Step! Jump!" Little wings on Amu's shoes appeared. She was able to jump really far and fast.

"Amu-chi will get there before us. Hopefully to draw attention away from Nagi and Rima-tan," Yaya said.

"Wow," Nade awed.

"If you think that's cool then wait till you see a charanari," I said.

*Nagi's POV*

"Where are they? I can't keep dodging forever," I said. Rima didn't answer. I know she's in pain. Her cold body felt good against my hot arms but I didn't want her to suffer. If only I could stop it.

"N-Nagi."

"Don't, just rest. I'll take care of everything," I said.

"Be careful. I don't want you getting hurt again because of me," she said.

"I'll be careful. I promise," I said.

"Nagi!" Temari warned. I jumped and barely dodged the attack.

"That was close," I said.

"You need to pay attention," Rhythm warned.

"I'm doing my best. If I get hit by that thing then it could be bad for my foot. It hasn't been hurting but if I and that much strain on it then I might hurt myself," I said.

"You're already putting too much strain," Kusukusu said.

"Don't worry," I said as I dodged another attack.

"I'm landing on my good foot. I feel fine right now," I assured her.

"Rima! Nagi!"

"Amu!" I cheered as I moved out of the way of another attack.

"The other are on their way. I'll take over from here," she said.

"Great," I said.

"My heart unlock."

Charanari Amulet Heart

"Over here," Amu said distracting the boy with the ? egg.

"Athletic!" he yelled as he attacked her. Amu dodged with ease. I sat against a big tree. The headphones were gone. Rima was in my lap.

"It's alright," I told her.

"Thank you Nagi," she said.

*Nade's POV*

"There's Amu-chi!" Yaya said as she pointed to the pinkette.

"She's a cheerleader?" Nade sweatdropped.

"That's one of her charanari's. Everyone!" Utau said.

"My heart, unlock!"

Charanari Platinum Royale
Charanari Dear Baby
Charanari Seraphic Charm

"Nade stay back and watch. You'll be able to charanari eventually so it's best to watch from a distance for now," Utau informed.

"Alright." The three of them went to help Amu.

"Shugo charas are amazing," I admired. Just thinking of the friendship and the power to help other people's charas fascinates me.

"Slow down! I can't keep up," Yaya whined as she sent rubber ducks at the boy. I sweatdropped at that. I guess they're not all cool. I noticed a bunch of ducks everywhere. How many can she summon?

"Too much for Yaya," she yelled going back into third person.

"Yaya back down!" Tadase ordered.

"It's great that you like to be active but everyone needs a break every once in a while," Utau said as she flew over the boy.

"Just slow down!" Amu yelled.

"Slow down?" the boy said as if it never occurred to him before. The ? egg cracked and a little purple chara came out with a ? on its head.

"I'll never slow down! My heart unlock!" He can charanari too. That doesn't make sense. Utau told me that you have to believe in yourselves completely to charanari. Rima explained to me what an X egg was. They are dreams that are given up on. Maybe ? eggs force the bearer to believe in themselves so much that they go mad.

"Athletic dream!" The boy was dressed in all kind of gear. He had a football helmet on, shin guards from soccer, a basketball jersey, baseball pants, and in his hand was a baseball bat.

"Batters up!" he said as he swung the bat forming a ball of energy. Utau, Tadase, Yaya, and Amu had a hard time dodging.

"What's with this kid!" Utau yelled.

"Strike one!" He hit a ball and it hit Utau in the stomach which caused her to run into Amu.

"Double Play!"

"Holy crown," Tadase said to catch the girls.

"Strike two!" The ball then hit Yaya and bounced off her and hit Tadase. They were all down for a second.

"I didn't forget about those two. Strike three!" The ball of energy was heading towards a big tree. Wait! Long purple hair mixed with blonde. Nagihiko and Rima!

"Nagi!" I yelled as I ran towards him. I know I was told to stay put but I can't let them get hit. I can't let him hurt my little brother. I can't let this happen! He's already been hurt. I will protect you little brother!

Temari: Nadeshiko truely loves her brother

Nade: Of course I do

Kusukusu: Nade can talk to us now so she can be in these little opening and closing parts with us

Nade: Thank you for letting me

Temari: You can ask the next question since it's your first time

Nade: Question # 28, Will I, Nade, make it to Nagi and Rima in time?

Kusukusu: Go! Go! Nade!

Temari: Review
