Zillion

During 2 x 1

Tom approached the Royal Army training center in York slowly. Men in uniform surrounded the grounds, clearly preparing to serve their king and country, an idea he couldn't find less appealing, as he disliked the British government.

But it was also the place where Lady Sybil would train to become a nurse, to treat those soldiers.

He could see her eager smile and shining blue eyes from the backseat, making her even more beautiful than she already was. Tom knew she was looking forward to the opportunity, as she'd always been so much more active than the rest of her family and a wonderfully caring soul.

She probably liked a good adventure, too, just like he did when he'd decided to move to England. The idea made him feel even closer to her.

Was there anything about Lady Sybil that wasn't perfect, from her soul to her blue eyes, her olive skin, to her wonderful brown hair? He desperately wished she wasn't leaving, even for a short time.

Lady Sybil was one in a million. No… one in a zillion.

As she climbed out of the motor, clutching her suitcase to say goodbye, Tom knew he had to speak. He couldn't keep his feelings for her quiet anymore.

Thanks for reading my A-Z drabble series.

I have another multi – chapter story that's Tom-focused planned, but I'm afraid it will be after Sybil's death and will be Tom/Lucy. It's called "1937 Struggles" and will be about Tom struggling with still living in GB after the new Irish Constitution, and Sybbie coming of age. The first chapter should be up next weekend.
