"Ok, How do I do this?" Hanabi asked. Looking at the tree I had brought her to.

I began speaking from my place perched upon a tree. I jumped off the tree. "Well, do you know how to use the byakugan?" I asked the girl. I'd teach her how with the ability to see chakra.

The girl looked curious but activated her Byakugan. "Yes sensei, why do you ask?" The girl asked curiously.

I grinned. "Well the Hyuuga can see chakra with their byakugan. Therefore they should be able to see how it moves when used. I'll show you how I do it and then we can adjust for your levels of chakra" I explained sagely. It was just a theory but the Hyuuga clan should be able to copy jutsu like the sharingan can. They just used the method differently.

The girl made an oh motion. "That makes a lot of sense. Why didn't anyone think of this earlier?" The girl asked to herself. I decided to answer

"Because people are too set in their ways to try anything new. But hopefully that will change" I said hopefully. "Now watch and see how this works" I told my new student. It felt weird saying that. I began walking up the tree slowly, using my sensory abilities to feel the chakra move. It felt weird seeing it... yes I referred to sensing as seeing now. Once I got to the tree I looked back at Hanabi. "So did you get that?" I asked.

The girl nodded. "Your chakra stuck to the tree like a suction cup. But once you wanted to let go it did. Is there anything else I'm missing?" The girl asked.

I nodded. "There is. Notice how I didn't use too much chakra or too little. I used an amount used for lets say an E-ranked jutsu. But that's because of practice with the skill. If you use too much chakra you will be forced away from the tree with an explosion. If you use too little then you'll just slip off. There needs to be balance. Which means you have to use the perfect amount of chakra to get it right" I said

Hanabi nodded. "I see. So I need to use the correct amount of chakra otherwise I won't stick. Could you show me the amount of chakra you used the first time you did this sensei? Just for an idea, '' Hanabi asked. I grinned. I liked having a student who asked questions. This'd be fun I could tell.

I began walking up the tree again, using a bit more chakra than before. "Sure! If it means you can get it first try then that'd be great." I said happily. If she could do this first try I'd teach her a simple jutsu. Kawarimi just for funzies. Hey if more people could join the cult of the Holy Log then I'd be happy.

Hanabi then deactivated her Byakugan. "I think I got it now sensei. Let me try" Hanabi said. I jumped down the tree

I grinned. "Go ahead. Be careful though. If you fall I'll catch you" I said. I didn't want her to break her arm. I'd really be screwed then.

The girl nodded and began walking up the tree. 1 step, 2 steps, 3 steps... Eventually, she made it halfway up the tree. "I'm doing it! I'm actually doing it!" The girl exclaimed.. Very unhyuuga like which was a positive. She began slipping off the tree.

I caught her. I put her down. "Congrats you just walked halfway up a tree on your first try" I said happily. The girl was doing well until the end. That was fine though.

Hanabi slumped a bit. "But I fell," Hanabi said, slightly disappointed.

I shrugged. "So you did. Konoha wasn't built in a day. You did really well for your first try. You just slipped up at the end and that's okay. Nobody ever gets it the first try" I said reassuringly even though the last part was a lie. Sakura did it first try in canon and in this verse.

Hanabi went through a mix of emotions for a second. "Can I try again sensei?" She asked hopefully.

I grinned and nodded. "Sure we have a lot of daylight ahead of us. I can begin training you in other things later. Chakra control is important after all." I said happily. "If you get this done today I'll teach you a jutsu" I added on.

The girl looked at the tree with new found determination. "I'll walk up that tree now!" Hanabi exclaimed. Glaring at the tree practically. She began walking up it once more. Soon she reached the halfway point once more. She began going higher, and higher, and higher. She eventually reached the top of the tall tree

I looked at Hanabi with a smirk. "Congrats kid, you did it. You did something in two tries that takes most people weeks" I said happily. If Hanabi ever did get cocky I'd teach her humility through the same way Hayate taught me.

The girl grinned happily. "I did it! I did it! I can't wait to show Nee-chan!" Hanabi said excitedly. She fell off the tree once more. I caught her once again.

I put her down. "You gotta be careful. Don't want to have you breaking an arm or worse" I said

Hanabi looked embarrassed. "Hehe sorry sensei" Hanabi said sheepishly.

I smiled. "It's fine just be more careful" I said

"Now what will you teach me next?"

"Here I'll show you"

*Poof!*

Kukui's pov: Training ground 7 a week later

"This is Kakashi Hatake. He'll teach you more about lightning release and whatever he decides to teach you. Be respectful to him" Hayate said before shunshining away. He left me and Kakashi alone. I had recently mastered the leaf exercise after much pain.

He looked at me for a second. "Well... Show me what you know." Kakashi said boredly.

I began having lightning spark between my hands. Kakashi threw a lightbulb to me. "What's this for?" I asked, making one of my hands stop sparking.

Kakashi began reading his Icha icha book. "I want to see where you stand in this exercise. If you do this to the level I deem appropriate then I'll teach you. Until then I'll just sit and wait, '' Kakashi said lazily. Oh we're playing that game huh? I'll do it. I'll damn well do it.

I nodded, not letting my emotions show. "I'll assume I am to make this light up perfectly. I'll do this within a week" I said determinedly.

Kakashi shrugged. "Go ahead. It'll take far longer. Lets see if a kid like you has what it takes to do this" Kakashi said trying to rile me up. It wouldn't work

I held the lightbulb carefully. I began channeling lightning chakra through it slowly. It began to light up. The light was dim but it was a start. I began channeling a bit more chakra through it. It was getting only slightly brighter.

Kakashi clapped. "So this is perfectly huh? Pretty dim if you ask me" Kakashi said again, trying to rile me up.

I grinned. "It's my first try. Can't be perfect the first try. Nobody is. Everyone makes mistakes and needs practice to get good at something. Including me and you" I said smiling. I'd just retort something nice with a smile.

I channeled more lightning chakra into the bulb. It exploded. I slumped to the ground for a second. "You're right everyone needs practice. That is a good outlook on life... It seems you need a bit more chakra control first. I'll teach you something to help with that" Kakashi said, walking to a nearby river. I followed him.

I was excited I knew what he was going to teach me. " What will you teach me?" I asked. I knew but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I began sensing just in case.

Kakashi simply walked on the water. "This," Kakashi said. I sensed how the water moved. How the chakra on his feet moved. It moved rapidly to keep up. Like water. "I assume you're sensing how my chakra is moving. Tell me how is it?" Kakashi asked

I looked at the lazy jonin. "It moves like water. The chakra is moving rapidly in tandem with the water. Your chakra is keeping you afloat because of that" I explained. I think I figured it out

Kakashi nodded. "Correct. Now try it for yourself. If you get this down the other exercise will be easier" Kakashi said, going to the other side of the river.

I nodded. "Okay" I said simply. I put a foot on the water. I felt my chakra try to stick to it. I think I got it. I put my other foot on the water. I then stood up. I had it now. I grinned in confidence.

*Splash!*

Kakashi clapped. "And that's what overconfidence gets you," Kakashi commented idly.

I glared. "Okay Cyclops. Let me try again" I said, now soaked. I would learn this than I'd learn lightning.

"Go ahead" Kakashi simply said before going to sit down

I looked at the water again. I'd do it before the end of the week

I walked on the water once more

*Splash!*

Kukui's pov: a week later

I sat down I could finally rest.

I had been training with Kakashi... Okay Kakashi was just making sure I did nothing too stupid but that's it. He just told me what to do. If I could learn water walking maybe he'd actually teach me something...

Liquid walking lvl 7

Using chakra, users can walk on liquid with varying degrees of success according to level.

Consumption: 10 chakra points per second

I was proud of my skill. Chakra control hasn't gone up yet but I was hopeful it would go up soon. Today was a tiring day though. I had my ass kicked by Hayate and Kakashi separately( I did get two levels in taijutsu which was now at level 22 though so that was neat) I was struggling to water walk and learn to control my lightning affinity, and I had to dodge fireballs and a shit load of weapons... I did get to train Hanabi in Taijutsu today though, so that was fun. as it turns out she thought she was good at taijutsu. Which she was but I humbled her... Ah it felt nice to kick a seven year olds ass.

Anyways I was tired. I wanted to rest and just take a nap or something. Maybe eat something first *Growl* Okay definitely some food first but nothing much. Maybe some instant ramen would be nice for once. I always had some just in case.

I got up. It was time to make some ramen!

Kukui Pov: Training ground 3

*Clang*

"You lose again. Your getting better though. You're fast for a genin. I'd say faster than most chunin and maybe one or two jonin" Kakashi commented as I got up from the dirt.

I shrugged. "Thanks I guess cyclops sensei. What next?" I asked after wiping dust off my bruised and battered body

Kakashi made a hmm noise for a second. "I think you're ready for a low level lightning technique from me" Kakashi said and I perked up. A new jutsu was always great to learn. Kakashi saw me perk up and tried to curb my excitement. "Ma ma it won't be a high level jutsu. It'll only be a low level one like I said" Kakashi continued

My mood didn't damper though. "I know! but I can't help but to be enthusiastic about learning a new jutsu!" I exclaimed happily. What? Ninja magic was going to be cool to me no matter what learning it was even cooler as I was actually able to use it now

Kakashi slumped "Energetic kids... Well the jutsu you will be learning is a defensive jutsu. The lightning wall" Kakashi said, going through some hand seals and placing his hands on the ground. A wall of lightning materialized soon enough. It was about as big as him. He then went through the hand seals once again and did the jutsu. "Now you do it." Kakashi said

I went through the hand seals slowly. "Lightning style: Lightning wall!" I said placing my hands on the ground

A wall of lightning came out of the ground

New skill unlocked: Lightning style: Lightning wall

Lightning wall level 1:

Creates wall of lightning that protects user

Cost: 35 chakra points

Kakashi nodded upon seeing the wall. "Not bad. Now that you have more of a feel for lightning chakra we can begin again" Kakashi said, throwing a kunai at me.

"Lightning style: Lightning wall!"

Training ground 7 a day later

As we reached the training ground we saw Hayate waiting for us. We knew we were here for a mission today. I knew that. The last few times we had met as a team it was for team missions."So what are we doing today sensei?" Tenten asked curiously

Mika nodded. "Yeah what are we gonna do today? Training? Missions? Another C-rank?" Mika asked hopefully. Again I thought it was a mission. Hopefully it was a C-rank mission. I wanted something other than bandit camps though.

Hayate jumped down from the tree he was perched on. "A mission. A C-rank to be exact." Hayate said and I immediately perked up. A C-rank mission was always nice. I always wanted to get out of Konoha and explore. It was fun and it was my hobby to just search and have fun with nature. I was also beginning to pick up drawing as well. Another fun hobby. I wanted to get a drawing of the entire forest of konoha in my bedroom one day.

I grinned. "What kind sensei? Will we be going on another bandit camp mission? Or something new and exciting?" I asked hopefully. I hated killing to see bandits. I just wanted something other than senseless violence of those weaker than I. It just wasn't a fun mission. Ending lives never was.

Hayate smirked. "A bandit extermination mission" Hayate said and I slumped to the ground immediately. "I'm joking. We'll be going on a mission to Kusagakure. We'll be escorting a man named Tajuma there for important meetings. This mission could take up to a month so make sure your affairs are in order before you leave" Hayate said. He looked at us to gauge our reactions.

I was excited. We were finally getting to go to another village! Finally we could do something else. Another thought plagued my mind. Karin. If I could find her I could convince her to come back home. I'd need to go through a lot though... Ah fuck it. Naruto could use some more family.

Mika was also excited. Getting out of the village was always good to her. Also, she wanted to do something other than bandit extermination missions.

Tenten was also happy. Again hated the bandits

Hayate nodded. "Good to see everyone is in good spirits. Everyone meet me at the northern gate in a day" Hayate said

We all nodded and went our separate ways. I made a bunch of earth clones and gave them the order to tell my friends I'd be gone for roughly a month.

Training ground 5: 3 hours later

"So you'll be gone for a month huh sensei?" Hanabi asked. I had just finished teaching her the transformation jutsu.

I nodded. "Yep. Pretty much. A mission to Kusagakure. I'll be gone for a bit guarding someone. But I do have something to help you a little bit whilst I'm gone" I said, pulling out a scroll with three earth clones. I would have them teach Hanabi about stealth and thievery. Maybe some basic kenjutsu.

Hanabi looked at the scroll curiously. "What's in it?" She asked

I made an earth clone. "3 of these earth clones. Whilst they can't help you in ninjutsu or taijutsu they could teach you other things. Like stealth and thievery. If you know those then you possibly won't even need to use anything in a fight" I explained.

Hanabi nodded. "So you're going to teach me to steal?" The girl asked with a devilish grin. Hopefully for not evil reasons

I nodded. "Pretty much. Being a thief is an essential part of being a shinobi pretty much. You might need to steal sensitive documents from someone as part of a mission or you'd need to reclaim important artifacts" I said. It was true. If you were a shinobi you were basically supposed to be a thief. I wanted to prepare Hanabi for that.

Hanabi looked at the river we were at. I had planned on teaching her water walking soon but my plans were cut short. "So will you be okay? Something could go wrong in this mission" Hanabi asked.

I grinned. "Looks like someone's worried. I'll be fine. I lost an eye on harder missions. This should be easy compared to that. But if I come back late, ask for Kukui Tanku" I said. In the past month we haven't learned each other's names funnily enough... Well, I knew hers but not like she knew that.

Hanabi smiled. "Okay Kukui-Sensei... Call me Hanabi then!" Hanabi exclaimed.

"Okay Hanabi," I said nodding

Soon we'd both need to go home so we said our goodbyes and I went home. I had a mission to prepare for.

Chapter end.

Honestly I like this chapter but I don't think its my best. I like the parts with Kukui being a teacher/mentor to Hanabi but I don't really like much else. Kakashi was hard to write and Yeah it just wasn't fun to write this chapter other than Kukui and Hanabi's bits. I can tell I'm going to have a field day with writing them. I love it already.

Anyways we're moving on to our next arc. I literally had the idea Mid-chapter and I didn't want to write another filler chapter to get there. So I'm excited to write about that. Maybe we can get to the chunin exams by chapter 50. That'd be nice.

So not much has been going on behind the scenes other than me hard no-lifing to get a role on discord to be the color I want it to be.

Speaking of here's the link!

Link: /QCbZzhRJdR

Anyways Here's the question of the week!

Question: What do you think the next arc is going to be about?

Anyways! Tobi-kun out!
