I'm really back on this story?! Yes I know it's been a long time since I last updated this story... I promise I'm back on here for a good amount of chapters. No I never thought of abandoning this story, I promised to do this story and I'll deliver. Enjoy these next two!
The Next Morning
It was around Eleven P.M, Arnold had just awakened as he was excited for this weekend.
He got up from bed and stretched out.
"That feels great… The sooner I'm done here, the sooner I can see Rhonda! I also really wonder what happens at the end of the book…" Arnold had read the book later as he went to brush his teeth.
Later
"it's the weekend… What can possibly happen?" Arnold thought to himself. He then opened his front door to a worried Rhonda Lloyd.
"Uh, Rhonda? Is something wrong?" Arnold gave a concerned look. "Rhonda? Rhonda!"
"Huh? Oh. Hey, Arnold…"
"Rhonda, is something wrong? What's with you right now? I know somethings up with you."
Rhonda only gave a deep sigh. She then motioned him over.
"You have my attention. Now can you PLEASE tell me what's going on with you?"
Rhonda took a deep breath. "Arnold, I… I…" Arnold only looked at her. "I love you…" Rhonda immediately hugged him. Arnold felt his heart jump. "Did I hear right…?"
"I love you, as a friend! Arnold, I heard devastating news last night. Football related. A player suffered cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated on the field. The broadcast last night said he was listed in critical condition and… and that had me thinking… What if it was YOU instead of that player? Remembering that hard hit you took… it just scared me to death."
Arnold only froze up as he mostly gave a sad look. He hugged her back but didn't say a word.
"I just wanted you to know that… I love you as a friend…" Rhonda gulped as she wanted to say more than a friend. Arnold still didn't say anything. "You- you okay, Arnold?"
"Yeah… yeah, I'll be fine…" Arnold lightly sniffled as he soon let go, put his hands in his pockets, and slowly walked away. "Arnold, wait up!"
"What is it…?"
"I just wanted to ask whether you want to go ice skating today or not…" Rhonda asked, nervously. "Yeah, I still want to, I just need a minute." Arnold soon sat down on the side of the road. "Mind if I sit beside you?" Rhonda offered. Arnold only nodded as he looked off into the distance.
Rhonda sat down beside Arnold, and soon, sirens were blaring in the distance as an ambulance was seen racing off.
Rhonda only rubbed Arnold's back as he kept looking off into the distance. "You doing okay, now?"
Arnold let out a deep sigh. "Yeah. Just wanted to think over whether we should still play football after hearing that…. So, still up for some ice skating?"
"Of course! I've been wanting to go with you ever since you offered!"
Arnold smiled as he stood up. He then offered his hand. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Rhonda smiled as Arnold helped her up.
At The Ice Skating Rink
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Rhonda asked as Arnold was tying her ice skates. "Of course I do!" Arnold chuckled. "I'll walk you through it and hopefully you'll soon get comfortable enough with this, ok?"
"Alright."
"And remember, this isn't a one-day process. Takes a lot of progress in order to become good at ice skating."
"Oh, I know that!" She smirked. Arnold only smirked back. "Just follow my lead, alright?" Rhonda nodded.
The two then entered the skating rink. "Arnold, I'm- I'm nervous about this." Rhonda gripped Arnold's hand. "As I said, stick with me, and follow my lead." Arnold gave a comforting smile. "Slow and steady."
The two glided across the ice. Arnold held onto Rhonda as he was teaching her the basics.
"I don't want you to look down at your feet, it doesn't help with anything. Unless you want to end up on the floor." Arnold started. "Lean forward just a little, and bend your knees a little. It helps with balancing."
"Ok… I think I'm understanding here…"
Arnold and Rhonda were gliding across the ice slowly, Rhonda seemed to get the hang of it fast.
"You know, Arnold, I'd love to come back here soon. Maybe for a date." Rhonda smirked at Arnold. Arnold blushed. "Well, uh… Let's not hurry things here, alright?" Arnold nervously laughed. Rhonda only giggled as they continued to skate. She could already imagine the two, romantically skating.
"Ok. I want you to try some simple movements. Like this." Arnold said as he let go to demonstrate.
Meanwhile…
"I'm NOT asking AGAIN. Deal with my problem, you're getting what you're wanting. Sound fair?" Helga was negotiating with Curly regarding her 'problem'.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm getting what I want! But my question is, how BAD do you need this problem taken care of?"
"Ugh! Don't you listen! I want that powder puff princess away from that stupid football head so I can keep dishing out my insults and stuff! With her in the way, it only makes him feel a different way!"
"You're not saying you-"
"WHY ON EARTH WOULD I HAVE A CRUSH ON THAT FOOTBALL HEAD?!" Helga shouted at the top of her lungs. "Ok, ok! Yeesh, I get the point!" Curly rolled his eyes behind his glasses. "I'll be back from suspension Monday, and trust me… I'm letting all hell break loose…" Curly gave a psychotic grin. Helga only rolled her eyes. "Whatever… Just make sure that Rhondaloid is outta my way."
"And I'm making sure she'll be in MY way."
"The hell is that supposed to mean?" Helga asked as she raised an eyebrow. "Doesn't matter to you."
"Hey! Don't talk to me that way! You wouldn't be getting your chance if it wasn't for me! So stop talking back and plan something out!" Helga snorted as she soon left.
"You're a natural at this!" Arnold was impressed at how well Rhonda was doing. "Gee, I didn't think I had this kind of talent." She then had an idea. "Hey, Arnold! Bet you I can do this!" Arnold looked over.
Rhonda felt enough confidence in her to try a trick she once saw. She jumped up and twirled mid-air, but unfortunately, her foot gave way.
"WOAH!"
"RHONDA!" Arnold slid on his knees as he caught her by the waist. Her head snapped back a little. She saw that she hadn't hit the ice, and looked at Arnold.
"My hero." Rhonda put her arms around his neck. Arnold only blushed as he also smiled.
The two then looked at each other and felt a sensation. A romantic sensation. They looked into each others' eyes, and they thought their eyes looked charming and beautiful. They were staring at each other, lovingly.
"Should- should I… go for it?" Rhonda asked herself in her mind.
Arnold then put a hand behind her ear as the two blushed.
Soon, the two closed their eyes, and their lips got closer and closer until…
Their lips soon joined as a passionate kiss started between the two. A rush of adrenaline ran through the two as they kissed. Soon, Arnold felt something cold and slightly wet.
Arnold opened his eyes and immediately looked down at his knee. "Uh oh…"
Rhonda kissed Arnold's cheek as she was mesmerized by their kiss. "Uh, Rhonda? I hate to be a buzzkill but uh… I have a tiny little problem here." Rhonda snapped out of her imagination and looked down at his knee.
A pretty big tear was seen on his jeans and there was some blood covering his knee.
"We have to get you home, NOW." Rhonda immediately let go of Arnold and stood up. She helped Arnold to his feet. Thankfully, most of the blood was just on his knee as there was a major scratch there.
"Let's get these skates off you and get you home fast." Arnold only nodded.
At the Sunset Arms Boarding House
The two arrived at Arnold's boarding house, only Grandpa and Grandma were there.
"Ah, Shortman! Gre- Jumping jellyfish!" Grandpa Phil noticed the tear in Arnold's jeans. "Goodness gracious, what happened? Sit him down over here!"
"I- I don't know! One minute we were having fun skating and the next…" Rhonda wanted to tell the entire story but didn't know how Grandpa Phil would react.
"Pookie, fetch the first aid kit!"
Rhonda only sat down beside Arnold and gripped his hand.
