"Ugh. Rhonda, I'm so sorry we don't get to spend much of the day hanging out. I just don't know why stuff like this happens."
Rhonda only looked at him in pure sadness and felt sorry for him.
Shortly after, Arnold's knee was now taken care of.
"You better watch out, Shortman, if it weren't for your friend's quick thinking, I don't know what could've happened." Grandpa Phil started. "You better not do anything to it and just let it heal." He then got up and walked away.
Arnold then looked over at Rhonda, who was only looking at the window. "You- you ok, Rhonda?"
She only sighed.
"Look, I'm honestly sorry that this happened it's just-" Rhonda put a finger on Arnold's lips, silencing him. "You don't have to apologize about anything. I just don't know why you've been so unlucky with stuff like this lately. I think it's best if I just let you be. I'll see you Monday."
She then let go of his hand, got up, and started walking away.
"Rhonda, wait!" Arnold got up and grabbed her arm. She let herself go and walked out of the door.
She looked back and had a tear run down her cheek.
"Why can't I hang out with Arnold without any stupid thing happening?!" Rhonda thought, frustrated.
Arnold felt extremely bad, knowing he was suffering setbacks and couldn't hang out in peace with his raven-haired friend. Arnold only sat back down, curled himself in a ball, and put his head at his knees.
The Next Day in The Afternoon
"You can't spend your days moping about her. And trust me, she WANTS to hang out with you! She's probably wanting some time to herself?" Gerald told his best friend.
Arnold sighed. "I guess, I'll see whether I try and visit her or what…"
"Good luck with that."
"I'll see you later, I gotta clear my head."
Gerald then patted Arnold's back. "I believe in you, man. Hopefully, you two will make up soon." He then started walking away.
Arnold saw that he was right in front of Slausens. "I have no other option." He shrugged.
Arnold walked in and saw that it was relatively empty today.
"Slow day today?" Arnold asked an employee as he sat down. "What else can we do, kid? Sometimes, things are just out of our control, you know?"
Arnold took note of those words. "You know what, I can understand what you mean."
"Tough day?"
Arnold sighed. "Yeah, honestly. It's just setback after setback. I don't have much to complain about but… *sigh* It's just been a whole ordeal."
"Hope everything gets better for ya, kid. Hate seeing kids like you this sad. You guys have a bunch of liberty, and I hate seeing a kid with so much freedom, being stressed about something. So, you want something to drink or something?"
"Eh, I don't really know at this point." Arnold replied as he just laid his head down. "I'll come back to you in a couple minutes." The employee soon walked away.
A chirpy, bright, lovable voice was then heard outside as she was saying bye to her friends.
"Yeah, yeah! I'll see you, girls, later!"
"Where have I heard that voice before?" Arnold wondered. He didn't bother looking as he kept his head resting where it was.
A young, lovable, and smart blonde woman walked in.
"Hang on… Arnold? Arnold, is that you?" The young woman said. Arnold then looked over. "Wait… Ms. Pataki?"
She giggled. "Yup, that's me! Olga Pataki! Helga's big sis! It's a pleasant surprise to see you here, Arnold!" Olga soon sat down next to Arnold. "So Arnold, how's everything going? It's been so long since I've seen you!"
"I wish I could say a bunch of good things, but that hasn't been the case lately…"
"Why? What's wrong?" Olga gave a confused look. "Well, I previously suffered a big hit from playing football the other day. Then, I recently got a cut on my knee, and now, I practically lost one of my friend's 'cause of these stupid setbacks! We could barely hang out in peace."
Olga listened to every word Arnold said. "Gee, Arnold. I never knew that someone like you could ever suffer things like this, honestly. I never heard quite a thing like that. Maybe your friend just wants some time to themselves. I'd probably try visiting him or her and bring something to try and lift their mood, one never knows what they could be going through."
"You really think she could have something going on that I don't know about?" Arnold asked. "In most cases, possibly. If anything, I'd try visiting and see if she does want to talk. Try bringing her a flower or something that'll lift her spirits, chocolates, or anything you think that could bring her some joy." Olga gave a small smile. "Wow. I think I will. Thanks, Olga."
"Oh, it's never a problem helping, Arnold! Say, I'm curious, you get along with my baby sister? I always try talking to her but, well, she'll be her grumpy self." Olga shrugged.
Arnold sighed. "Well, let's just say, she probably doesn't even like seeing me."
"Wait, so that means you two don't get along?"
"I hate to say it but, yeah. She constantly bullies me, makes fun of me, throws spitballs at me, I mean, you name it! I hate having to keep silent about it 'cause there's nobody I can talk to about this!"
"Well, it's no wonder why she's grumpy a hundred percent of the time… I'll see if I can ever talk to her and see whether we can fix that little issue. Ok?"
"Thanks, Olga." Arnold soon smiled for the first time all day. "Never a problem! Say, Arnold, I'm curious, have you always wanted a sibling, or are you fine being an only child? I'm asking since I knew you were an only child from my stint as a teacher."
"Well, I can't say for certain since I have mixed feelings about it. You know?"
Olga nodded. "Ah, I see. Hey, Arnold, mind if I buy you something from here? I really don't mind." Olga offered as she gave a shining smile. "No, I don't want to be-"
"Don't be silly, Arnold! I'd be happy to buy anything you want!"
"Well, just a vanilla milkshake."
"Alright, vanilla it is."
Later
The two were getting to know each other more and more as they also shared some jokes.
"Glad to see a smile back on your face, Arnold! It just feels depressing seeing a sad look on your face."
"Yeah, well… when you have these kinds of things happen, it's hard not to be sad." Arnold took a sip from his milkshake.
"I understand. So, when are you going to visit your friend?" Olga soon asked. "Once I leave here."
"And what do you plan on getting her?"
Arnold looked at his milkshake and had an idea. "Olga, could you spare for a strawberry milkshake? Not for me, for my friend."
"Well, of course!" Olga smiled. "Do you need anything else?"
"Actually, I can take care of it from here."
"Alright." Olga replied as she motioned the employee over.
Outside
"Thanks for everything, Olga! It was great seeing you again!" Arnold smiled. "The pleasure was all mine, Arnold! It was lovely to see you again!"
"Say, Olga? Is it alright if I can meet up with you again? For advice about my friend."
Olga was a little surprised at first but had a delighted smile. "Of course, Arnold! I hope everything works out for the two of you!"
"Thanks again, Olga!"
The two smiled at each other. Olga soon leaned over to Arnold for a quick kiss on his cheek. "Mwah! Later, Arnold!" Olga soon left. Arnold blushed as he touched the spot where Olga kissed him.
"I wonder whether she'll even care for roses…" Arnold thought to himself.
Later
Arnold was outside the Lloyds home and rang the doorbell.
Brooke was the one to greet him. "Ah, Arnold. What a pleasant surprise to see you! Is there anything we can help you with?"
"May I speak with your daughter? I also decided to bring her a couple of things." Arnold replied. "Of course. She's right upstairs."
Arnold was soon upstairs on knocked on her door. "Rhonda? You in there?"
"Who is it…?"
"It's me… Arnold…"
"Oh… Come in, I guess…."
Arnold walked in and put the strawberry milkshake on a nearby drawer, but he then dropped the flowers as he saw her playing with a teddy bear he intended to gift her. "Who gave you that….?1"
"Arnold! I didn't get it from anyone! I personally bought it, I wanted to gift it to you… as a surprise!" She looked over in surprise. "And you want to walk out on me for having these minor coincidences? Take a look at yourself… Don't know why I came here if you're already with somebody else." Arnold then turned around and started walking away with his hands in his pockets
"Arnold! Arnold, wait!" Rhonda ran after him and found no other way to catch his attention. She yanked on Arnold's arm and pulled him straight into a kiss. Arnold was caught off guard, and he wasn't sure whether to enjoy it or push her away.
Yup, I decided to add Olga for the first time in any of my stories! I feel like she could play a role in this. I had thoughts of adding her in other stories but I'll have to see about it.
