Kept you waiting, huh? Onwards to the story!
Izuku and Katsuki strolled down the road from UA towards the train station that would take them home, the city bustling around them. 'I wonder what Ochaco got caught up with?' Izuku thought solemnly, 'I was really hoping to get to talk to her more.' He was disappointed to have to leave her at UA, but found solace in knowing that he would see her again when school started.
He must have allowed his melancholic feelings to show on his face, as Katsuki nudged him on his shoulder. "Hey man," he asked, concern filling his voice, "you alright?" Internally, he grew a bit worried; 'did he not do well on the exam?'
Izuku shook his head, his familiar smile gracing his face one again. "Yea, I'm fine Kacchan!" he assured, "just thinking about the exam is all; how do you think you did?" he asked, wanting to move the topic beyond his thoughts. The last thing he needed was Katsuki teasing him over a girl he just met!
Katsuki let a wild grin spread across his face; while he had grown more humble as he aged, largely due to Izuku's influence, he still found joy in boasting about his accomplishments. "Fantastic, just as expected," he said confidently. "The written test was a breeze, besides all that Quirk shit, and the practical," he brought both his hands behind his hand, resting it in them, "I must have landed somewhere in the 80s. Felt so good to let loose.
Izuku beamed at his friend, unsurprised at Kasuki's stellar results. "Wow Kacchan," he said in a whispered breath, his childhood adoration of his friend shining through"sounds like you did amazing! No shock there."
Katsuki basked in his friend's praise, enjoying the words of affirmation from someone he not only cared for, but respected. "Thanks, Izuku," he replied, "but what about you? I'm sure a nerd like you aced the written portion," he teased lightly, "how was the practical?"
Izuku rubbed the back of his head, looking down and away from his friend. "Oh you know…" he muttered, wishing to remain humble, "I think it went ok…"
He was cut off by Katsuki. "Oh bullshit," he chastised, "quit being modest. What'd you get, 100 points?" he guessed.
Izuku laughed a bit. 'Since he's so insistent!' "Try closer to 150" he admitted.
The ash-haired boy's eyes widened slightly. "Holy shit," he breathed, "did you leave any for the rest of them?" he laughed outwardly, and he was happy at his friend's results. However, he could not help but feel his ego bruise when hearing about Izuku's
'150!? And I bet he didn't break a sweat, while I went all out… there's still so much distance between us…'
"Yea…" Izuku admitted, "I may have gone overboard a bit." He elected to withhold the information about the Zero-pointer; 'Don't want to come off as too much of a braggart!'
Katsuki forced the feelings of insecurity down deep inside him, promising to address them himself later. Flashing a teasing grin, he looked at his best friend. "No wonder round face was practically ogling you," he laughed, "must have given her quite the show, didn't you?"
Izuku look puzzled for a moment. "Round face? What're you-" mid sentence, it hit him that he was referring to Ochaco. His face flushed scarlet red. "I-its not like that," he stuttered, a rare occurrence, "I just happened to help her out during the exam, that's all."
They came up on the train station, making their way to their line. "Uh huh," Katsuki drawled, "I'm sure that's all it is." He was not dumb; even in Junior High, Izuku got the most attention from the opposite sex; he was tall, muscular, and the top student at Aldera. He paid them no mind, focused solely on getting into UA. Katsuki figured that, going into high school, Izuku would have to practically beat the ladies back with a stick. 'Assuming he doesn't start enjoying it!' he snickered.
Their train finally arrived, and the two boys boarded it, making their way home. Izuku rolled his eyes, grabbing onto a pole. "Whatever you say, Kacchan." he relented, wishing to move on from such an embarrassing subject. 'Kacchan doesn't know what he's talking about. Ochaco was just being friendly… right?'

The two future heroes spent the remainder of their trip home recounting their experiences on the practical exam and their plans when the start attending UA. They parted ways then they reached their prefecture, promising to text each other soon and set up some times to hang out. It had been a long time since the two just spent time together as friends, not training or studying; sometimes they found it easy to forget they were only teenagers.
Izuku quickly made his way back home, cutting through the alleys of Shizuoka Prefecture in order to reach his destination; he was excited to share with his mother all that happened today.
Before he knew it, Izuku had made it to his apartment building, quickly throwing the door open only to be greeted by not only his mother, but Yagi as well in his debilitated form and dressed in his usually baggy white shirt and green pants. "Welcome back!" both said in excitement, his mother rushing to greet him with a hug.
"Al-" he stopped himself, "Toshinori-sensei,what're you doing here?" he asked, surprise lining his voice. He had not expected to see him so soon after his exam!
Yagi let out a hearty laugh; "Why to celebrate Young Midoriya, and to hear about your exam! Your mother was very insistent!"
Insistent was being kind; in truth, Yagi had not been intending to make an appearance to Izuku until his acceptance letter to UA. Inko, however, all but forced his hand; he cringes at the women's stern voice over the phone, demanding that he make an appearance, and how much it would mean to both Izuku and her. Who was he to disappoint his successor? It definitely did not have anything to do with Inko herself. He looked over at the slim women, only a few years his junior.
Nope, nothing to do with her at all.
Izuku's smile could not be wider. "I'm so glad you're here!" He was absolutely giddy, looking forward to gushing about his time to both his mother and his idol. "I've got so much to tell both of you!"
'Ah, so he's none the wiser that I saw everything' Yagi thought, a grin gracing his lips. 'Good, there will at least be SOME surprise when he gets his letter then.'
The three sat down at their table, enjoying the meal Inko prepared as Izuku recounted the happenings of the exam. Inko was beaming with pride, and even Yagi found himself engrossed in his retelling, his heroic heart beating as his charge enthusiastically spoke of his heroic deeds. 'Yes Young Midoriya,' he thought to himself, 'there is no doubt. You will carry this society into a new era of heroism!'
Inko, for her part, began to shed the reservations she had about her son being a hero. She supported his ambitions, yes, but she was still his mother, and his line of work was fraught with danger. Still, as she heard her son boast about the large number of robots he dispatched with relative ease, she felt her blood pressure begin to gradually lower. "Well Izuku," she finally said, "it certainly sounds like you had a handle on things. They would be fools not to accept you!"
"Indeed," Yagi agreed, "if your counting is right, then you demolished the previous record held by All Might." His score, as high as it was, had held against decades worth of classes full of promising heroes. How fitting that it would be his successor that would finally knock him off his pedestal.
Izuku flashed a wide smiled. "Thank you!" he paused, his voice becoming more somber, "thank you both of you… I couldn't have gotten this far without you…"
Inko waved her son's modesty away. "Nonsense Izuku," she lightly admonished, "you worked so hard for this, harder than anyone I've ever heard of, for so long."
Yagi took an opportunity to cut in. "Indeed Young Midoriya, do not let your modesty blind you to your efforts. There is a reason I chose you, afterall." he confirmed, the double meaning not lost on Izuku.
All the young hero-to-be could do in response was nod his head, blinking back light tears from his eyes. "Hai!"

After spending more time talking about catching up, Yagi finally excused himself, telling the mother and son that he had urgent business to attend to, and that he will be in touch soon. Izuku was curious was business could demand his attention, but figured that he would find out in due time; he was All Might's successor after all, secrecy would do them no good.
The day seemed to be catching up with Izuku, as he felt a wave of exhaustion wash over his body. After asking to be excused, Izuku made his way to his room, undressing before walking to the bathroom. After scrubbing his body, caked in a decent amount of sweat and dirt from the practical exam, he returned to his bed, donning his pajamas and collapsing onto the soft mattress, allowing himself to sink into it.
Izuku let out a yawn, grabbing his phone to plug it in to charge. He went to check the time, realizing that he had two notifications, one from a familiar number, and the other from a new one.
He taps on the first notification, opening the well used chat box he's kept with Momo since they met so many months ago, he read that message she had sent a number of hours ago. "I hope the exam went well, Izuku. Please keep me informed at your earliest convenience."
Izuku mentally cursed himself; he had been so caught up with Katsuki, his mother, and Yagi that he had not bothered checking his phone. He must have worried her! Quickly, he typed back a response. "I'm sorry Momo! I'm only now checking my phone. The exam went well, I'm definitely gonna be seeing you at UA!"
Much to the verdette's surprise, he quickly got a response from the Creation user. 'Had she been waiting for me to answer her?' He quickly opened the message to read. "That is truly wonderful Izuku! There was never any doubt, really you could deserve to have gotten in on recommendation." A blush spread across his face at the praise, and he silently thanked that Momo was not there to see it.
"Thank you! You are too sweet Momo!" he typed out, pausing a bit before sending another message. "How is your week looking? Busy?" He was hoping to see her again soon; he had missed her, afterall.
The response came seconds later. "No! My schedule is fairly empty this week, a rarity. Would you like to spend time together?"
Izuku was practically giddy, his chest warming at her seemingly excitement at seeing him again. He did not even have to be the one to ask her! "Then lets do something over the weekend! I've missed you." he replied before he could second guess himself.
"And I have missed you. I must retire for the night Izuku, I look forward to seeing you soon."
While that seemed like a calm, collected response, Izuku did not see Momo in bed, holding her phone to her chest, kicking her feet in excitement and uncharacteristically squealing at the thought of seeing the boy who saved her so long ago.
After sending a quick goodnight text back, he finally looked to see his other notification. his chat ID told him that it was Ochaco, who had texted him a few hours after the exam had ended. "Hey Izuku!" it read, "I hope you got home ok! Sorry I couldn't walk to the station with you. I just wanted to thank you again for saving me from the Zero-pointer. You were really cool :)"
Izuku felt a blush spread across his face as he typed out his response. "I hope you got home ok too, and it's ok! And really, there is no need to thank me. I just did what any hero would do."
His phone binged after a couple minutes, and he opened it to see Ochaco's response. "Stop being modest! No one else would have done what you did, especially during an exam. You're something else Izuku. I have to go to bed, but I hope I got into UA so we can be classmates."
Izuku frowned a bit, not liking the doubt Ochaco was placing on herself. "Have a good night! And don't worry, you were amazing at the exam :) I can't wait to see you at UA!"
With that, One for All's ninth user put his phone down and closed his eyes, allowing the desire for sleep to finally overtake him, wondering how long it would take for acceptance letters to be sent out.

"... And I might have gone a little overboard and… destroyed it?"
The week had gone quickly, in a blur if you had asked Izuku. Both he and Katsuki were accosted by teachers and students alike, asking all kinds of questions about the UA, the entrance exam, and how they both did. Izuku was willing to humor many of the questions, though even he had to admit that it was getting tiring. Apparently, Katsuki thought the same, and by the third day had threatened to "blow all their mouths off their dumb fucking faces."
That got them to shut up, for the most part.
Now, the weekend was here, and just as he and Momo planned, they had been spending the day together. They had decided to spend their time wandering the city, idly window shopping and stopping at whatever caught their interests. Now, however, they sat alone at the place they met, Dagobah beach, enjoying the sun setting over the water's horizon, sitting in the fine sand and enjoying each other's company. He had just finished recounting the situation with the Zero-pointer, much to Momo's amazement.
'From what he described, those Zero-pointers were no joke… I'd have to create a high caliber cannon to take one down and he just… punched it away? Just how strong are you Izuku?'
"Wow Izuku," she finally said, he mind catching up with her mouth, "I knew you were amazing but… to do something like that so easily… you must be really something else."
He frantically waved away her words. "Really, it was nothing special…" he tried to argue, "honestly it was stupid, I mean what was I thinking? No way UA would put students in actual danger right?" Upon reflection over the last week, Izuku quickly realized that Ochaco was not in any real danger; UA had been running these exams for years, and no one had ever gotten seriously hurt. Why would this year be any different?
Momo shook her head. "Even if that were true, that's not the point. You did the only thing a hero would do," she paused, thinking a moment, "in fact, it sounds like you're the only one who even tried. I would not be surprised if that alone got you extra points" she pointed out, a hand reaching for her chin. "After all, what kind of hero course would UA be running if they did not reward such heroic actions?"
Izuku thought on her words for a moment. He had to admit she had a point, as she often did. "You're probably right," he acquiesced, "like you usually are Momo." She blushed at his words, much to his satisfaction. As of late he was being much more forward with complimenting her, and enjoyed seeing the effects it would have on the Creation user.
Momo gave him a smile. "Even if they don't," she continued, "I'm sure the girl you saved appreciated it." At the mention of Ochao, Izuku allowed a light shade of red to spread across his face. This did not go unnoticed by Momo, who felt a dull ache hit her chest. While she was not typically the jealous type, she could not deny that the foreign feeling spread across her when Izuku mentioned the reason he had destroyed the Zero-pointer. She could not help but imagine her in Ochaco's place, watching Izuku do incredible feats just to protect her. It must've been so nice!
For his part, Izuku was oblivious to his friend's feelings, and simply nodded. "Yea, Ochaco was really grateful. I hope to see her again when we go to UA," he admitted. Ochaco lived in the Mie prefecture, farther than the Aichi prefecture that Momo called home, and unlike Momo did not have the resources or ability to take leisurely trips to visit far off friends.
Momo only gave him a small smile, burying deeper the feelings of jealousy bubbling up. "And I am sure you will." Wishing to move on from talks of the brunette, she decided to change the subject. "What about Bakugo? How did he do? I'm sure he was excited to tell you."
Izuku's green eyes lit up at the mention of his best friend. "Oh Kacchan did great! According to him…"

It was only a day after Izuku's day out with Momo, on a mild early March afternoon that Izuku returned from his daily run. He opened the door to his apartment, unexpectedly finding his mother waiting at the door, envelope in hand. He eyes it anxiously, already knowing what she had.
"Izuku!" she exclaimed, waving the letter in her hand, "it's here! Your letter from UA!" She thrusted the letter in his face, urging him to take it; he excitedly obliged, fingering over the high quality envelope and fancy calligraphy on the envelope. 'UA really spares no expense!'
He looked at his mother, the excitement visible on her face. "Why don't you go to your room and open it?" she suggested, "I know how important this moment is to you, sweetheart. I'm sure you want your privacy."
Izuku nodded his head, thanking his mother before rushing to his room. He sat down at his desk, weighing the letter in his hand. 'Huh,' he thought to himself, 'this feels… heavier than it should.' Not wishing to waste anymore time, he tears open the envelope. However, instead of the expected letter, he is met with a small, metal disk-like device. "What the…" he muttered, pouring the contents onto the table. "What is thi-"
He never finished the sentence, as he was interrupted by a faint light projecting an image above the device, along with a loud, boisterous, and familiar "I AM HERE, ON THE SCREEN!" He was dressed in a glistening golden suit, which complimented his blonde hair well.
Izuku's eyes widened, surprised at the sigh. "A-All Might?!" he exclaimed, 'What are you doing on a broadcast for UA!?'
As if the number 1 hero read his mind, he continued speaking. "You must be wondering why I'm on this broadcast," he declared confidently, "well Young Midoriya, the answer is simple! I, All Might, have decided to join the staff of UA as the Foundational Hero Studies teacher!" he flashed a brighter smile, flexing his right arm for emphasis.
Izuku heard someone speak to All Might off screen. "What do you mean hurry it up? I'm telling him important information here!" he paused for a moment, before acquiescing. "Fine fine," he returned his attention to the camera, "alright Young Midoriya, let's look at your results!" The camera cut, a clear sign of editing of some kind. 'Did he get off topic again?' Izuku wondered.
"On the written portion," All Might continued, "you didn't just pass, you aced it! From Math to Japanese, to even the new Quirk Analysis section, there was nothing your heroic brain couldn't handle! Nice work!" The hero gave his successor two thumbs up. Izuku beamed at the praise, even if he may have had an advantage over the other applicants, given his exposure to those kinds of questions beforehand.
"However," All Might cautioned, "Even a perfect score isn't enough to get you into UA. So, lets see how you did on the practical!" Another cut occurred, putting All Might in a new position on the set. "To put it simply Young Midoriya, you went PLUS ULTRA! 150 Villain points, head and shoulders above the other applicants! You even beat my score from when I took the test so long ago. Truly impressive work young man!"
Izuku could not help but beam at the praise from the hero he looked up to the most. He had known he did well, and whenever anyone asked he tried his best to be humble. However, he could not deny that it felt good to have all his efforts and accomplishments acknowledged and applauded.
"Clearly, you did more than enough to earn your spot in UA's heroics course," All Might confirmed, "HOWEVER! There is more!" All Might stepped aside, revealing a television screen behind him. "I am not only a hero, but an entertainer! Let's watch, you and I!"
Izuku peered closer at the projection, curious as to what else All Might had to show him. The screen came to life, revealing a familiar, round, cute face. "Ochaco?" Izuku whispered. 'What are you doing on my acceptance letter?'
His answer came quickly. Ochaco made her away across what looked like a classroom, towards the host of the Entrance Exam, Present Mic. "Excuse me," she said, her hands balled together, "Mr. Present Mic, sir?"
Present Mic turned around to look at her, flashing her a wide smile. "WELL HEY LITTLE LISTENER!" Realizing his rather loud voice, he internally scolded himself and toned it down, coughing into his hand. "What can I do for you?" He asked at a more reasonable volume.
Ochaco looked down at her feet, a blush spreading across her face. "Um, do you remember Izuku Midoriya, the green haired boy from Test Site B? Really strong, tall" Her blush grew darker, "Cute, smashed one of those big Zero-pointers to bits?"
As Izuku listened to the the girl describe him, he could not stop his brain from doing a double take. Strong? Sure, he could accept that. Tall? Definitely? Cute? That brought a wave of red across his face. 'She thinks I'm cute!?' he thought to himself, 'She-I… HUH?!"
Still, the video did not wait for him to collect himself. "I think I know who you mean! What's the problem, little listener?" he asked. In truth, Ochaco could have stopped the description at "green hair." Izuku's performance had left quite an impression on UAs staff, and he was no exception.
"I just…" Ochaco continued, "I feel bad. I don't know how many points he got…" She began to tremble, forcing her eyes closed. "Could I give him some of mine?"
Present Mic looked at her, a bit perplexed, and Izuku's eyes widened. 'What is she doing?!' he wondered, 'She earned those points, she can't just give them away! What if she doesn't get in because of that?'
Ochaco continued before the hero could give her an answer. "You must have seen how amazing he was out there… He definitely would have gotten more points if he didn't have to waste his time with that Zero-pointer…" Izuku shook his head. 'Waste my time? It wasn't a waste of time! You needed help, it was the right thing to do.
The brunette shook her head. "And he only did it because I needed help! If I hadn't been so weak… Please," she pleaded, forcing her head up to meet Present Mic's eyes, "He needs to get into UA! Please give him some of my points, to make up for the trouble I caused him!"
Izuku felt himself blinking back tears. 'Such a selfless attitude… You're just as much as hero as I am Ochaco…'
The video paused, and All Might returned to the scene. "It is your Quirk that givesyou awesome power to smash the villains, but it is your heroic actions that inspire others, and show us the truth of your heart" he sermoned.
The video began again, Ochaco practically screaming in Present Mic's face. "Izuku Midoriya saved my life!"
All Might interjected again. "And that is exactly the kind of thing the judges were looking for!"
Present Mic looked down at the girl, before giving her a hearty laugh and patting her on the head. "I'm sorry little listener," he told her, "but I can't give another applicant your points." Ochaco began to protest, before being cut off by the hero. "But I don't think you'll need to, I think both you and that boy will be just fine!" He assured her.
The video cut out, focusing solely on All Might again. "What kind of Heroics course would UA have if it didn't consider such selfless action in the scoring?" The hero flexed both his arms, his smile growing wider. "Call it corny if you want, it's part of the job! Laying your life on the line to do the corny stuff!" All Might stepped to the side, revealing a new category under Izuku's Villain Points.
"That's why," he revealed, "we have RESCUE POINTS! All the judges agreed, they saw the heart of a hero beat within your chest! Izuku Midoriya, 80 rescue points! Which brings your total to a whopping 230 points!"
Izuku sat back in his chair, taking in all this new information; All Might, however waited for no one! "You SMASHED the exam Young Midoriya, and we would be fools not to have you! Prepare yourself, because UA is YOUR HERO ACADEMIA!"
The video ended, leaving Izuku in a state of shock and awe. Not because he passed, he already figured that, and while the rescue points were a surprise they made enough sense. No, despite all this new, life changing information that had been dumped into his brain, there was but one thing that he was hyper focused on from the video.
'OCHACO THINKS I'M CUTE?!'
He had almost missed the text from Yagi, asking to meet him at Dagobah Beach.

Hours previously, Shota Aizawa marched across the campus of UA, determination in his eyes. Typically, Shota did his best to maintain distance between himself and the school's administration team; as long as he did his job and produced satisfactory results, it was only rational, an arrangement that Principal Nezu allowed. However, recent developments forced his hand; there was something he needed to ensure, and he would have to make sure it happened himself.
He knocked on the door of the Principal's office, and was beckoned in by Nezu's friendly voice. Entering, he saw the Quirked animal at his desk, furiously working though stacks of paper and his computer, likely preparing everything required to start the rapidly approaching new term.
"Aizawa," he greeted, not stopping his work. Shota did not take offense to this; he knew which Nezu's Quirk, High Spec, he could be doing a thousand other things and still give their conversation plenty of attention. "What can I do for you? Its not often I see you in my office."
Shota gave a respectful bow. "Thank you for seeing me Principal Nezu, I won't take much of your time." True to his nature, he got right to the point of his visit. "I wanted to talk about the newest class of Hero Department students." He reached into his pocket, digging out the class rosters that had been made, placing it on Nezu's desk. It read as followed:

Nezu looked at Shota, a bit perplexed. "What about them, Aizawa? Do you have concerns with one of the students? The classes?"
Shota sighed. "I'll get right to the point. I want Izuku Midoriya in my class."
Nezu was a smart creature. He may just be the smartest creature alive. It was due to this that not much surprised him anymore; student antics, villain attacks, he had seen it all. However, Shota Aizawa, the aloof, distant teacher known for expelling students he found lacking potential on the spot requesting a student? That surprised him deeply, so much so that he stopped the myriad of things he was doing, focusing his attention just on Shota. "That is an… interesting request," he finally said, "may I ask what has prompted it?"
Shota was not about to lie to the Principal; not only did he respect him far too much for that, but he would see right through it. If he was gonna get what he wanted, honestly was the best policy. "I have a… history with Iz- With Midoriya," he admitted, "he is an old student of mine. I wish for him to be so again."
'Ah, that explains it, a personal connection,' Nezu thought, 'he does not have many of those' Nezu pondered the request for a moment, his mind racing, weighing the pros and the cons. Finally he spoke. "And if I allow this, will you be going easy on Midoriya? Giving him special treatment?"
At that, Shota let out a laugh. "Easy?" he chuckled, "if anything, I would go harder on him. Besides," he said soberly, "he would never let me."
Nezu put a paw to his chin. 'Hm. Midoriya is the most promising student coming in, being All Might's chosen successor. He will need someone who will push him…' Quickly, Nezu made his decision; that does not mean, however, that he had to freely grant the Erasure hero's request.
"Ok Aizawa, I will make the transfer. One one condition," he qualified, a smile on his face.
Aizawa perked up a bit at his answer. "And what would that be, Principal Nezu?"
'Whatever it is, it'll be worth making sure Midoriya ends up in 1-A.'
"You have to bring your students to orientation this year!"
And with that, Shota was having second thoughts about this whole deal.
That's a wrap! I hope you enjoyed the (long awaited) chapter. If you care to know where I have been for the last, uh, 3 years, read ahead!
Well, a lot of things have happened since the last chapter back in 2019! Right when chapters stopped, I started my Junior year of college, so I knew chapters were gonna slow down. And then COVID hit, and in all honestly I got in a real bad funk about it. Pretty much all my time was poured into online school, and battling some good old fashioned lockdown depression. I didn't have the drive to write, or really engage in much media, and fell out of a lot of the stuff I was into.
But, that was a long time ago. Since then I've graduated and gotten a job, and gradually gotten back into the swing of my life, including writing. I never forgot this story, I just genuinely was not in a place mentally to write to the best of my abilities.
So, I'm back! How often will updates be? I don't know, to be quite honest, though I do not expect to be going on a 3 year hiatus again. Besides, its not all bad! MHA has had time to run, and so I have a lot of material and lore to work with now that I did not before. I am looking forward to continuing this story, even if I expect many of you have forgotten about it.
So until next time!
