Bell POV

When I opened my eyes I saw an old man laying down in the grass watching the night sky. I looked around and realized I was back in my village so that must mean the old man is.

"Zeus" I heard Kratos say.

"Zeus what do you mean that's my grandpa," I told him confused about why he'd think my grandpa was the head god of the Greek pantheon.

"They're the same person," he told me.

"Wait how are we here we were just at the castle," I asked confused on how we made it to my home village.

"Your eye it's showing you the past"

"So my grandpa the man who raised me for nine years is Zeus," I asked baffled by the revelation.

Kratos said nothing but shook his head confirming that they were the same person.

"Zeus Zeus," the village elder said. He was younger than when I had last seen him. His black hair was shorter and he wasn't as fat. He seemed to be in his late 50s and was taller than I remembered standing at around 6'0. He was panting almost as if he had run here.

"Don't say that name aloud here" Zeus chided him.

"Sorry it's just the baby's here," the elder said in between breaths.

"Baby? Kratos what is he talking about" I asked the god who stood next to me.

"This is the night of your birth Bell come let's head to the house," Kratos said. I blinked and the next thing I knew was that I was no longer outside but inside a house. I looked around and saw a woman sitting next to a bed. She had long blonde hair that went down to her back and had blue eyes. She had a slim figure and a beautiful face. She was wearing a green long-sleeved shirt and had jeans on.

"Hmm Hera" Kratos grumbled.

I then looked at the bed and saw a woman holding a baby. Holding me. She had white hair like I did and had two different colored eyes one blue and one green. She had a kind and gentle look to her but she also looked really weak as well. She was looking at the baby a smile plastered over her face.

"Mom," I said aloud.

Almost as if she heard me she looked up and smiled at me. I nervously smiled back not knowing what to do. The smile faded from my face however as Zeus walked right through me. I felt sad now knowing I couldn't interact with my mother as this was just a memory.

I felt a strong hand rest itself on my shoulder and I looked up to see Kratos had done this to comfort me.

"Zeus this is Bell," my mother said her breath labored.

"Materia I'm so sorry," Zeus said as he knelt next to the bed.

"It's ok Zeus you're not at fault you tried your best," my mother said to him.

"It's a shame Silver can't see him," Hera said sounding disappointed and disgusted.

"It is but I'll be with him soon," my mother said.

Sliver? Would that be my dads' name?

"Zeus, Hera I have a favor to ask"

"Anything name it and we'll do it," Zeus said and I could see Hera grimace and flinch when he said that.

"Take care of Bell and raise him for me," my mother said and I just now realized that she was sweating a bunch. No doubt from childbirth.

"Of course, I'll raise him as my own" Zeus said and I saw Hera look away from him a look of disgust on her face. Why is that?

"Zeus do you want to hold him," my mom asked.

Zeus said nothing but nodded and my mother handed me over to him. Zeus looked nervous not knowing what to do but still, he held me and rocked me gently.

"He's wonderful Materia," Zeus said looking up from me to my mother.

My mother had her eyes closed and her chest no longer rose and fell. She was dead.

"Materia" Zeus called out hoping for a response.

"She's gone Zeus take the boy outside," Hera said his voice full of contempt and malice. I could tell she hated me. The reason for her hatred towards me I didn't know.

Zeus did what he told and took me outside sitting on a rocking chair that was on the porch. He sat there for a few minutes until Hera came outside and stood next to him.

"Find a family and dump the boy off on them," Hera told him.

"What, no you heard Materia she asked us to raise him" Zeus protested.

"Zeus either you dump the child on a family or I'll leave you here to raise him alone," Hera said giving Zeus an ultimatum.

Zeus was quiet for a moment before he spoke. "Then leave," Zeus said his voice completely serious.

Hera said nothing but stomped her foot on the ground and went back inside. She was gone for only a moment before she came back out carrying my mother's covered-up corpse. She said nothing to Zeus and walked up a hill disappearing into the night.

Zeus then looked at me still in his arms.

"It's alright Bell your grandpa won't let anything happen to you," he said as he rocked back in forth in the rocking chair.

I blinked again and it was daytime however this time I was inside another house. My actual house. The house I spent the first nine years of my life in. I seemed to be in my room. I looked at my bed and saw my nine-year-old self curled up into a ball and coughing nonstop.

"Carson please there has to be something you can do for him," Zeus said practically begging.

"I'm sorry Zeus his disease is incurable I've tried everything. By the way, he's heading he doesn't have long left I'll leave you to say your goodbyes" the doctor said before leaving.

Zeus said nothing but paced back and forth in my room before he finally spoke.

"Fuck it I'll use my arcanum and face the consequences later. I will not let this boy die that I promise you Materia" Zeus said walking over to me his hand raised.

He hovered his hand over me and a purple and golden light came from his hand. The light enveloped me for a few seconds and just like that I was all better.

"There now he will have a protector and a mentor," Zeus said before he kissed me on my forehead and left the cabin. He unhitched a horse and the horse started to run. Not even a few seconds later two wraith-like beings arrived at the cabin saw the tracks and then chased after him.

I blinked again and saw Rengoku walking through the woods.

"Rengoku," I said feeling a deep sadness well up within me.

He of course couldn't hear me and kept walking until he came upon the unconscious body of my nine-year-old self.

"Huh is this the boy," he said aloud before he put his hand on my neck to feel for a pulse.

"I guess I owe you an explanation Bell," Rengoku said.

I turned around my breath catching in my throat and saw Rengoku standing right there in front of me. I ran forward to go and hug him a smile plastered on my face but I ran right through him.

"What," I asked confused.

"Sorry Bell only my spirit is here but not my body" he explained and I felt sad again.

"So I think it's time I explained myself to you come have a seat," Rengoku said and a table and two chairs appeared out of nowhere.

I sat down across from Rengoku nervous as to what he would say noticing that nothing but white surrounded us now.

"When Zeus used his arcanum to save you from your sickness he also gave me a vision. It was a vision of my life if I chose to help you. It showed when we would meet and when I would die" Rengoku said as he started to explain his vision. He told me that when he took me in he knew he would die at that castle. He knew and he still chose to save me and to raise me like I was his own.

"So that's the story," he said and I didn't know what to say.

"So you're saying I got you killed then," I said and I felt like crying.

"No Bell. I'm saying I knew what I was getting into when I saved your life all those years ago. I knew what would happen and I still chose to save you. You didn't get me killed that's just how I chose to die by saving a young boy who needed help that's all" he told me sounding like a sage of some kind.

"Thank you. Thank you for loving me" I said letting my tears flow freely. From seeing my mother die to Hera not wanting to raise me. To Zeus breaking the rules and saving my life and refusing to go back to heaven. To Rengoku the man who knew what would happen if he took me in.

"Oh come on Bell I thought you forgot how to cry" Rengoku joked. "Take care of everyone for me ok and keep your head held high people are gonna want their hero," he said a smile on his face as he began to disappear.

"I will I promise you I will," I told him sobbing like a baby.

He gave me one last smile and disappeared completely. I stayed in that white void of nothingness sobbing and sobbing for I don't know how long.

After I had stopped crying I looked up and saw a white ceiling. My body hurt all over like I had been run over by multiple carriages. I slowly and painfully looked around my room and realized I was in a hospital. I heard talking and crying outside my door so I tried to sit up and I did before I started to painfully stumble to the door.

"I'm sorry to say but there's a 90 percent chance Bell will die with his injuries" I heard a woman say on the other side of the door.

I then put my hand on the doorknob and opened it.

Well, this chapter just put ya in the feels, doesn't it. So Bell knows about his mother. That Zeus was his grandfather and that Hera hated him I wonder why that is. He also knows that Rengoku sacrificed his life for him as well even before the castle. Also, I changed the rules a little bit with Danmachi about using arcanum, and right now Zeus is a fugitive to the gods for breaking the rules.

Also, I want to tag the creator who I used the concept of Bells brith and Zeus's disappearance for as I did not think of it. I didn't downright copy it as that would be plagiarism but I did use the concept of the village and Zeus and Heras falling out. So a big thanks to Suahtloh
