Author's Note: Hey, everyone. Sorry this took over a year to update. Time just slipped away from me while dealing with my other fanfics.

Now, before we begin, I'd like to address a certain question from a commentor. XWorrior1113 asked if this is set in the same universe as my Batman/Korra fanfic. The answer is, it isn't. It's an entirely separate story.

Now that all that's taken care of, let's enjoy the story. Any and all comments are welcome.

It took many days of sailing for Diana. When the storms hit, she fought tooth and nail to keep her boat from capsizing. Thankfully, she was able to master the art of fighting storms over thirty years of her life.

Eventually, Diana made it to her destination. She slowed down her boat as she entered the South Pole. She had passed by many blocks of ice navigating her way over the icy waters. As she sailed, she opened up her map to look over the layout that Athena laid out for her. She had just gotten behind an iceberg when suddenly, a girl's voice shouted out from the distance.

"I'm embarrassed to be related to you!"

Diana looked curiously at the yell. That's when she noticed the waves and tides begin to rise beneath her. All the while, the mystery girl's voice kept shouting.

"Ever since Mom died, I've been doing all the work around camp while you've been off playing soldier! I even wash all the clothes! Have you ever smelled your dirty socks? Let me tell you, not pleasant!"

Diana then heard a panicking boy's yell. "Katara, settle down!"

"No! That's it! I'm done! From now on, YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN!"

At that last word, the whole water shook violently and the iceberg before Diana began to crack. It had fallen apart forcing Diana to leap into the water before a piece could fall on her.

Diana was submerged waiting for the water to calm down. While she did, her eyes were pointed down where she noticed something. A bright light was lit from beneath. She knew it wasn't a fish, which only meant it had to be who she was looking for. But first, she had her own investigating to do.

When the waters were back to being steady, Diana swam back up to the surface right next to a floating platform of ice. When her head burst out of the water, she spooked two teenage kids who were on the ice. One was a boy and the other was a girl, both of whom were wearing heavy, blue coats with white fur on their edges. Though Diana was fascinated with seeing a man for the first time, her thoughts were somewhere else.

"Which one of you two made that ice shatter?"

"Oh. I'm so sorry." The girl said. "I didn't mean to do that. I hope you're not injured."

"You did that?" Diana asked. "So you're a waterbender?"

"Well… yeah." Katara said.

"Who are you?" Sokka asked.

"I am Diana, princess of Themyscira." The amazon answered looking back down at the water. "Hold on a moment. There is something that requires my attention. I'll be back." She dived back down before anyone else could say anything.

Diving deep under the water and enduring the growing pressure, Diana eventually made it to the bottom where the glowing light originated. It was a circular monolith of ice that was rotted at the sea floor. She looked deeper and saw a shadowy figure at the center of the ice. She pulled out her sword and wedged it right underneath the ice. She then used the leverage to loosen the ice until it broke free and began floating to the surface. Diana grabbed ahold of the ice and was pulled up with it.

The giant ice emerged to the surface right in front of Katara and Sokka. Diana took in the fresh air before climbing up to the top of it. She raised her sword and prepared to strike it down.

"Wait! What are you doing?" Sokka asked loudly interrupting the amazon.

"Freeing a hero!" Diana replied before shooting her sword straight down. It impaled the top of the ice causing it to crack very quickly. After removing her sword, Diana jumped off and landed with Katara and Sokka right at the moment that the ice burst. Right when it did, a blue beam of light shot itself right into the sky causing a strange ripple across.

After the light pillar ended, the three of them looked and saw the shadowy figure finally stand. It was a young boy wearing red and yellow robes. His bald head and both of his hands had arrow tattoos. The light died down and he fell right into Katara's arms. He groaned as he stirred awake while Diana and Sokka watched.

"Strange." Diana thought to herself. "Is this really the Avatar? The last airbender? He's a lot younger than I imagined." When Sokka began poking the boy's head with the end of his spear, Diana finally spoke. "What are you doing?"

"Trying to figure out what he is." Sokka said.

"You trust your weapon more than you trust your own eyes?" Diana asked. "He's clearly a human being."

"Human beings don't glow." Sokka said.

Finally, the arrow-headed boy woke up and set his eyes on Katara. Very tired, he spoke. "I need to ask you something."

"What?" Katara asked.

"Please. Come closer." Katara leaned in to hear the stranger's words. "Will you go penguin-sledding with me?"

"Uh… Sure, I guess." Katara said caught off guard by the random question.

The boy stood back up to his feet looking at the environment around him. "What's going on here?"

"You tell us." Sokka said. "How did you get in the ice? And why aren't you frozen?"

"I'm not sure." The boy answered. "The last thing I remember was getting caught in a big storm. And the next thing I know, I woke up and found myself here."

"You are not hurt, are you?" Diana asked.

"No. Thanks for asking though." The boy said. He returned to the empty ice crater he emerged from and smiled as he set his eyes on a very large creature; a giant bison. With a big smile on his face, he jumped up and hugged it. "Appa! Are you all right?" He looked closer and noticed that the bison was half-asleep. Though, he wasn't tired enough to give him a playful lick. "Glad you're OK."

The three moved in closer at the boy and the bison that slowly returned to its feet. "What is that thing?" Sokka asked.

"This is Appa, my flying bison."

"Right." Sokka said skeptically. "And this is Katara, my flying sister."

"I wouldn't discount the idea if I were you." Diana said. "Flying bisons are known as the original airbenders."

"Really? That's cool." The boy said. "So do you guys live around here?"

"Don't answer that!" Sokka said. "Did you see that crazy bolt of light? He was probably trying to signal the fire navy."

"Sorry, but you're wrong." Diana said. "This boy is the last person who would want to work with the Fire Nation."

"Sorry about him. Let's start over." Katara said. "The paranoid one is my brother, Sokka. I'm Katara. You never told us your name."

"I'm… Ah… Ah…" The boy continued to build up a strong sensation building up in his nose. Until finally, he released a sneeze while facing down. "AH-CHOO!" The sneeze became more powerful than it should have been. It sent him flying high into the air before he safely returned to the ground. "I'm Aang."

"You just sneezed." Sokka said in astonishment. "And flew ten feet in the air."

"Really?" Aang asked. "It felt higher than that."

Katara gasped. "You're an airbender."

"Sure am." Aang said before turning to Diana. "Oops. Sorry. I didn't catch your name."

"Right. I am Diana, princess of Themyscira."

"Themyscira?" Aang asked. "I don't think I've heard of that place."

"I wouldn't blame you." Diana said. "It's a secluded island we amazons keep to ourselves."

"Amazons?" Katara asked.

"Warrior women." Diana said. "For centuries, my sisters and I have remained in solitude to protect our secrets and homeland. But recent events have made an exception for myself to embark on a voyage here to the South Pole."

"Giant light beams. Flying bison. Airbenders. Warrior women. I think I got the midnight sun madness." Sokka said. "I'm going home to where stuff makes sense." He turned around, but immediately remembered that there was no boat. They were stuck on that one patch of ice in the middle of the ocean.

"Well, if you guy are stuck, Appa and I can give you a lift." Aang said.

"We'd love a ride. Thanks." Katara said climbing up on the bison with Aang and Diana.

"Oh, no." Sokka protested. "I am not getting on that fluffy monster."

"Are all men this unreasonable?" Diana asked.

"My brother's a special case." Katara replied. "Sokka, are you hoping some other kind of monster will come along and give you a ride home? You know, before you freeze to death?"

Sokka tried to argue, but he couldn't make a comeback. He just climbed up and sat on the saddle with Karata and Diana while Aang steered Appa from the top of his head.

Aang had expected Appa to fly, but he was too tired. Thankfully, he's able to float on the water. After a while of drifting, Katara approached Aang curiously while Diana watched.

"Hey." Katara greeted.

"Hey. What are you thinking about?" Aang asked.

"I guess I was wondering." Katara said. "Your being an airbender and all, if you had any idea what happened to the Avatar."

Aang had a concerned look on his face hesitating to answer. "Uh… no. I didn't know him. I mean, I knew people that knew him, but I didn't. Sorry."

Aang's answer caught Diana by surprise. Her eyes dilated as he thought to herself. "What? This doesn't make any sense. He's supposed to be the last airbender, so he must be the Avatar. Athena's map lead me right to him. So how could he claim not to know the Avatar? Could this have anything to do with how he ended up frozen in the first place? What is he not telling us?"

Just a little further out to sea, there was an iron ship with the red Fire Nation flag flying above it. Within this ship, an adult woman practiced her martial arts skills in the training room. She had long, black hair tied in a ponytail and a black, sleeveless tanktop showing off her athletic arms. She sweated while hitting the practice dummies in front of her.

When the woman was finished, she let out big breaths relaxing herself. At the same time, a teenage boy walked in with a similar hairstyle. He wore red armor, and his left eye had a horrible burn scar on it.

"Lieutenant Paula, would you mind being a little quieter?" he asked. "You're disturbing my practice on the upper deck."

"My apologies, Prince Zuko." Paula said. "I'm just preparing myself."

"You don't have to, you know." Zuko said. "You may not be a firebender, but you're still stronger than any of the other soldiers here. I trust you almost as much as I can trust my uncle."

"I'm flattered, sir, but if you're right, and we are closing in on the Avatar, then I need to step up my training." Paula said. "Thankfully, I think I may know where we can find him."

"Where?" Zuko asked.

Paula headed to the wall where a giant map of the world was portrayed. Zuko followed as Paula pointed at the southernmost area of the map. "This general area is where we are. I don't know much about what that pillar of light you saw meant, but I do know this. The South Pole has very few villages reported to us by the Southern Raiders in the past. My gut says the Avatar is probably sheltering at the nearest village from where that light was."

"Excellent. I'll have the helmsman draw up the course and head to that village." Zuko said as he headed out. "Oh. And Lieutenant… Thank you."

"Just doing my job, sir." Paula said. When Zuko left, she let out a quiet sigh. "And keeping a promise."

The following day, after Aang had woken up, he quickly got acquainted with the children of the small village. He flew on his glider hidden in his staff, made jokes around he kids, and began sledding on the backs of penguins across the snowy dunes. The whole time, Diana watched in deep thought trying to understand.

"This doesn't make sense. He has to be the Avatar. I know it. So what's his story? Why is he treating everything like a game?"

Her observation toward Aang continued until she saw him and Katara find and enter an old fire navy ship trapped in ice that latched itself onto its lower deck. She saw them enter and followed.

Throughout the cold hallways and abandoned rooms, Diana eventually caught up with Aang and Katara in the weapons room. She hid herself listening to their conversation.

"This ship is haunted by tribes since Gran-Gran was a little girl." Aang said. "It was part of the Fire Nation's first attacks."

"Okay. Back up." Aang said. "I have friends all over the world, even in the Fire Nation. I've never seen any war."

"Aang, how long were you in that iceberg?" Katara asked.

"I don't know. A few days maybe?"

"I think it was more like a hundred years."

"What? That's impossible. Do I look like a 112-year old man to you?"

"Think about it. The war is a century old. You don't know about it because somehow, you were in there that whole time. It's the only explanation."

Aang was completely surprised. Diana had the same expression.

"Of course." She thought to herself. "Now, it all makes sense."

"A hundred years." Aang said barely keeping his balance. "I can't believe it."

"Believe it." Diana said finally showing herself. "Now, everything is clear now. Well, maybe not everything. I still don't know why you'd hide your true identity."

"Diana?" Katara asked. "Did you follow us? And what do you mean, true identity? Are you saying that Aang isn't who he says he is?"

"Not exactly. He's just not telling you everything." Diana said. "Aang, the reason I left Themyscira, the reason I swam down to the bottom of the Arctic Ocean, it was all to find you. Because of what you are."

Aang started to get uneasy. He had a bad feeling that Diana was onto his secret. "I… I don't know what you're talking about."

"Even now, you're hiding it." Diana pressured. "Aang, you have no idea how bad this war is, how bad it's going to be. You're the only one who can stop it before all hope is lost."

"What are you talking about?" Katara asked. "Why would Aang be the only person who can stop the war?"

Diana kept her eyes on Aang. "Are you going to tell her, or should I?" Aang opened his mouth, but something within him stopped him from saying anything. Diana sighed. "Very well. Katara, Aang isn't just an airbender who was frozen a hundred years ago. He's much more than that. Aang… is the Avatar."

Katara's surprise nearly knocked her off balance. She looked back at the airbender. "Aang, is that true?"

Aang lowered his head sadly. "I… I didn't mean to hide it. It's just… complicated."

Diana sighed once more. "I'm sorry to have to reveal your secret, but the world needs you now more than ever. I'll explain everything back at the village."

"Right." Aang said sullenly. He, Katara, and Diana exited the ship. They headed straight out.

After leaving the ship, the three began their trek back to the village. But just a few feet after leaving, Diana raised her hand to stop them.

"What?" Katara asked.

"Something's wrong." Diana said. "Listen."

Everyone stayed quiet until they noticed something beneath their feet. There was a light rumble that was barely noticeable, but it was still there. It only took a moment to fully realize it.

"What's that? An icequake?" Aang asked.

"That's not a thing." Katara said.

"Hold on a second." Diana said before leaping up to the nearest tall tower of ice. She grabbed ahold and climbed up.

Once she reached the top, she got a good look at the ocean, and the giant iron ship sailing in the distance. She looked once more at where it was headed and gasped. She immediately jumped from the pillar and returned to Aang and Katara with dire news.

"There's a fire navy ship."

"What?" Aang asked.

"Are you sure?" Katara asked.

"No mistake. And from the looks of it, they're heading straight to the village."

Katara gasped. "Sokka. Gran-Gran. Everybody."

Despite having his secret told, Aang overcame that and looked onward to the general direction of the village. "We have to save them."
