Chapter 7
Flipping the pancakes, reaching for her coffee taking a long sip. Turning resting the small of her back against the counter holding her coffee taking another sip. Wrapping both hands around the cup sighing deeply looking to her laptop for a moment resting on the island counter at the work she had started. Knowing Hige would be here soon, telling him he didn't have to worry about knocking just to come in. Taking another sip of her coffee turning setting her cup down Ryoko flipped the last of the pancakes taking them out of the pan. Grabbing the plate setting it in the oven that was set on warm to keep the rest of the food warm.
"Hey." Ryoko paused turning her head looking to Hige coming into the kitchen.
"What you up to?" Hige asked coming up to her as she leaned her back against the counter. Shrugging as she wrapped her arms around herself. Coming up close kissing her forehead gently. Leaning back a little looking over her for a moment.
"You ok?" Hige asked. Nodding her head softly looking to him, he looked tired.
"Feeling alright? how's the baby?" he asked resting his hands around her. Arching an eyebrow, she never had anyone ask about how her baby was doing… not even Washu.
"Ok" she spoke. Snickering a little Hige gently lifted a hand letting his fingers graze up and down her arm.
"I made breakfast" Ryoko spoke leaning up a little turning in his arms as he stepped back a little.
"You didn't have too" Hige spoke.
"I was hungry anyways" Ryoko spoke setting the pancakes, eggs, and French toast on the counter reaching for her coffee.
"Thank you" Hige spoke looking to her for a moment. Taking a log sip of her coffee grabbing a plate handing it to him. Smiling softly Hige starred at her for a moment as she met his gaze. His amber eyes staring into hers, she gulped softly sipping her coffee turning setting her cup down beside her laptop.
"So, what you got planned for today?" Hige asked making his plate.
"Nothing" she spoke turning as Hige came up to her handing his plate to her. Pausing for a moment starring at him.
"Thanks…." she spoke reaching for the plate. Winking to her turning grabbing another plate making his own. Setting her plate down moving her laptop back sitting as Hige came up beside her setting his plate down turning coming up to the coffee pot. Glancing to him for a moment Ryoko reached for her cup taking a sip of her coffee.
"Has that idiot come by again?" Hige asked coming up beside her sitting close glancing to her taking a sip of his coffee.
"No" she spoke setting her cup down. Taking a bite of his food glancing to her for a moment. Turing her head looking to him, smiling softly he winked. Smiling softly shaking her head reaching for her cup.
Cuddling up beside Hige pulling the sheets up around them, Hige wrapped his arm around her as she laid beside him resting her head on her shoulder. Finishing up breakfast putting away the leftovers it was already near 8 am.
"You ok?" Hige asked glancing to her.
"Hmm" Ryoko spoke cuddling against him a little more closing her eyes. Feeling more tired than she thought she was, Hige held his arms around her leaning his head against hers. The room darkened from the curtains still closed, the door closed with the lights off the air felt nice. Thinking back on Hige telling her he seemed to sleep better rest while he was with her, believe it or not she felt the same way. Feeling content, taking a deep breath relaxing a little cuddling against him a little more almost on the verge of sleep.
"Never knew you were such a cuddler" Hige spoke letting his hand wrap around her gently run along her arm.
"Are you complaining?" she asked looking to him for a moment.
"Not at all, I love it" he spoke. Snickering a little Ryoko sighed softly closing her eyes as Hige brought his other arm around her. Taking a deep breath, she could smell his cologne as she extended her right arm letting it lay across his chest. Hoping she wouldn't have a repeat of earlier's dream. Almost to the point now of not wanting to go to sleep like before, especially after this past dream. They were beginning to get worse. Letting her mind drift trying to forget about it as the two of them fell asleep.
Flinching a little opening her eyes pausing as she heard a phone ring. It wasn't hers… Hige sighed deeply turning slightly reaching his arm over grabbing his phone off of the nightstand.
"Damnit... my work" he spoke up.
"Don't answer it…" Ryoko spoke reaching a hand trying to take it from him. Snickering holding it away from her.
"He'll just call back until I do, hold on baby" he spoke lowering his hand answering it putting it on speaker phone.
"Yea?" Hige spoke up.
"Hey Hige" a voice spoke up.
"What Jerri" Hige asked. Resting her arm back across his chest, sighing deeply cuddling against him a little.
"The power generators rebooted… they're like stuck on the menu screen" the man Jerri replied.
"Did you hit the reset button?" Hige asked shaking his head looking to his phone.
"Yea, I tried that, tried the control keys, turned the switch on and off, and nothing. Monty said a black screen popped up saying some type of code and then it rebooted itself and it's not working now" he replied.
"What error code was it?" Hige asked.
"MONTY...COME HERE" Jerri yelled.
"Damnit..." Hige spoke holding the phone away for a moment.
"Sounds like a smart bunch" Ryoko spoke softly. Snickering Hige shook his head.
"Yea?" Monty spoke up on the phone.
"What Error code popped on the screen?"
"It said something about overheating, by the time I noticed it I was at the belt when I saw it. I saw it for second than it rebooted itself" he spoke.
"Jerri… did he unplug it?" Hige asked.
"Yea, I tried that" Jerri spoke up.
"The master key?" Hige asked sighing deeply. Glancing to him for a moment Ryoko leaned her head to the cape of his neck closing her eyes.
"Yea, I couldn't find Joe that's why I called you."
"He's in a meeting… sheesh it's just 9:15" Hige spoke. They hadn't even been asleep for over an hour yet.
"He should be out in a few, just leave it alone. He'll have to open the bottom and hook the handheld to it and manual restart it" Hige spoke.
"Ok, how long should we wait?" Jerri asked.
"Did you let Edgar know?" Hige asked shaking his head.
"Yea, he said to find Joe, If not call you" Jerri spoke.
"Alright, let Edgar know ok" he spoke.
"Ok, thanks, sorry to bother you" Jerri spoke hanging up the phone. Sighing deeply Hige turned a little setting his phone back down.
"I swear I work with a bunch of idiots sometimes" Hige spoke glancing to Ryoko. Snickering Ryoko sighed deeply.
"Sounds like the house back home, their all idiots" Ryoko spoke. Sighing softly Hige wrapped his arms around her cuddling underneath the sheets.
Stepping into the hot shower leaning her head back a little closing her eyes. Running her hands thru her wet hair sighing deeply. Getting a few hours of sleep getting up leaving Hige asleep still. Taking a deep breath, the hot water felt good against her skin. Wondering if the coffee was done by now, finishing in the shower turning the water off opening the shower door grabbing the towel hanging on the wall bringing it up to her face sighing deeply. Wishing the nausea would be gone by now, she was literally getting tired of feeling sick constantly. Wondering if the medicine Washu gave her would work, it had before. Wrapping the towel around herself coming up to the sink across the room wiping the condensation off the mirror pausing for a moment looking to her reflection. Dark circles laid under her eyes, turning drying off getting changed into a pair of black capris that she had bought the other day, already liking them from how soft they were, coming up to the middle of her leg. Putting on a dark charcoal gray t shirt with the sleeves coming to the middle of her arms. Hanging the towel back up flicking the light switch teleporting into the bedroom looking around for a moment pausing. Hige was already awake. Wrapping her arms around herself turning as she teleported out of the room into the living room looking to the couple lamps on. Glancing to the clock above the TV stand it was already 2 o'clock. Looking to the kitchen door swing open Hige walked out, meeting her gaze smiling softly coming up to her holding a cup of coffee out holding his own.
"Thanks… I didn't wake you, did I?" Ryoko asked reaching for her coffee. Shaking his head sipping his coffee.
"Nope… well you not still in bed made me wake wondering if you were ok" Hige asked leaning to her kissing her forehead softly. Snickering Ryoko sipped her coffee, hmm she couldn't get enough of this stuff. It was so good.
"Sorry… "she spoke looking to him for a moment. Laughing a little looking to her.
"Sorry for what… me wondering if you were,ok. I always wonder if you're ok when I'm not around you, regardless of you being pregnant I'd still wonder" He asked arching an eyebrow. Wrapping her other arm around herself sipping her coffee.
"I don't know why you would… I ain't nothing special" Ryoko spoke taking a step back turning.
"Hey… yea you are, at least to me you are" Hige spoke reaching a handout letting his hand touch her elbow. Pausing looking to him for a moment as Hige came up in front of her turning to the side for a moment reaching as he set his coffee cup down.
"You ok?…" he asked wrapping his arms wrap around her. Gulping softly nodding her head sipping her coffee. Wishing the nausea medicine would kick in already. Arching an eyebrow looking over for her a moment as she looked back to him. Lifting a hand gently resting the palm of his hand against the side of her face softly.
"I'm fine really" Ryoko spoke. Looking back to him, arching an eyebrow in return. Snickering a little Hige kissed her forehead leaning back a little reaching for his coffee.
"So, are we still going out later?" Ryoko asked, sipping her coffee coming up to the couch sitting looking to Hige as he came up beside her sitting.
"As long as you wanted too" he spoke leaning his elbows on his knees looking to her.
"I do" she spoke leaning back against the couch with her other arm still wrapping around her stomach.
"So where to then?" Hige asked leaning back against the couch stretching his legs out, glancing to him for a second, he wore a black wife beater with a pair of his khaki jeans.
"I don't know, you asked me, so I thought you knew where to go" Ryoko spoke. Snickering a little Hige took a sip of his coffee.
"Well, we could… go the movies, dinner, coffee, theirs the mall, a couple places on main street I think…. Bowling… whatever you felt like doing" Hige spoke looking to her as he spoke. Not really much into movies, nor bowling, shrugging Ryoko took another sip of her coffee.
"Surprise me" she spoke looking to him. Smiling softly Hige took another sip of his coffee leaning up a little.
"Well, let me go get changed, then we'll go, we'll figure out something" he spoke looking to her for a moment. Nodding her head holding her coffee as he met her gaze. Winking he stood suddenly disappearing. Sighing softly leaning her head back a little closing her eyes. Gulping suddenly disappearing into the bathroom.
Sitting at the table pulling the chair up a little Hige came around the other side of the table sitting as the hostess set down a couple menus.
"Your waiter will be here shortly, enjoy" she spoke bowing a little folding her hands in front of her turning as she turned walking off. Leaning back against the chair for a moment looking around for a second, the restaurant was nice. Never coming here before, the both of them. Hearing it was a good place, deciding to come giving it a try. Reaching for the menu Hige looked to her for a moment coming to a stop. Turning her head looking to him, arching an eyebrow, Hige smiled.
"What?" she asked folding her arms around herself. Wearing a white low collar t-shirt with black jeans and her flip flops.
"Nothing… this place ok?, hopefully it's better than the first one we went too" Hige spoke leaning an elbow on the table. Turning their heads as a young red headed man came up to the table.
"Hi there, I'm Rin, I'll be your waiter for the night, can I start you two off with some drinks?" he asked.
"Coke" Hige spoke.
"The same" Ryoko spoke glancing to Hige for a second.
"Great, are we ready to order?" Rin asked looking to the both of them.
"Not yet, thank you" Hige spoke. Nodding his head Rin smiled backing up he turned making his way.
"This is fine" Ryoko spoke reaching for her menu looking it over.
"Thank you by the way" Ryoko spoke glancing up to him. Meeting her gaze Hige smiled softly.
"You don't have to thank me, thank you for the company" He spoke grinning.
"You could have so many other things to do, other girls to hang out with, but you're stuck here with me" Ryoko spoke setting the menu down looking to him.
"Other girls huh, like who? my nieces, sister and mother… there are no other girls, and I honesty wouldn't want to spend my time with anyone else but you... I've had other dates yea in the past, but those were nothing. One hit wonders, where nothing came of it, or them. I've never brought any girls home, the only one the kids and my sister met was when we ran into each other at the mall, that was like 3 years ago" Hige spoke. Watching him as he spoke Rin came by dropping the drinks off giving them a few more minutes.
"I should be thanking you for being here with me...you've been thru a lot and hurting you is the last thing on my mind, far off. Something I wouldn't want to do to anyone, especially you" Hige spoke looking to her.
"I kinda overheard the conversation between you and Quint the other morning…" Ryoko spoke reaching for her glass. Snickering Hige leaned back a little looking to her.
"I figured you did, maybe it was Fate that brought us together, if you had never moved here, we would've never met" he spoke.
"If I hadn't of been looking at coffee you would have never came up to me in the grocery store asking if I liked coffee" Ryoko spoke smiling. Laughing a little Hige grabbed his drink.
"I admit that was a decoy.. I was trying so hard to think of a reason to come up to you and figured coffee was perfect" Hige spoke. Laughing a little Ryoko shook her head looking to him.
"Well I'm glad you did" Ryoko spoke meeting his gaze.
"Me too" Hige spoke smiling, winking at her.
Ordering their food, it was actually better than they expected. Finishing off her pasta with meatballs and two sides of mashed potatoes and french fries, Hige took the last couple bites of his steak with mac and cheese.
"Pretty good" Hige spoke leaning back a little reaching for his coke.
"Yea, I liked it" Ryoko spoke. Taking a sip of his drink Hige looked over her for a moment as she finished off her french fries.
"Desert?" Hige asked setting his drink down looking to the smaller menu that laid in the middle of the table glancing thru it.
"I'm pretty full, you can by all means" Ryoko spoke taking a deep breath leaning back some against the chair.
"We can split it, take it home for later" he spoke. Shrugging Ryoko wrapped her arms around herself.
"That's up to you" Ryoko replied. Nodding his head Hige looked thru the little menu, holding it out to her.
"Pick something" Hige spoke. Shaking her head grinning as Hige held the menu still, sighing softly starring at her.
"Well if its nothing you like, more for me than huh?" he asked glancing to the menu for a moment. Laughing a little reaching for her drink Ryoko shrugged.
Setting the leftovers on the counter turning Ryoko glanced around the kitchen for a moment. Coming back to Higes place for a little while, getting a little work done instead of going into work itself. Wrapping her arms around herself making her way thru the kitchen into the living room looking around a little. The house was quiet. Being here last when the kids were here, the house felt lively. Gulping, Ryoko sighed looking around the living room. The curtains were still closed, all the lights were off. Making her way to the couches turning on one of the lamps. Turning making her way to the couch sitting slowly glancing around the room for a moment. Hige was in the study room down the hall, the door open with the light on. She could hear him on the phone. Wrapping her arms around herself leaning her elbows on her knees as she sighed deeply. Leaning back against the couch, it was actually more comfortable than she remembered. Bending her knees against her chest wrapping her arms around her knees taking a deep breath glancing around the room once more. Her ear twitching turning her head, Hige came out from the study room turning the light off making his way down the small hallway.
"Sorry about that love" he spoke coming up to her sitting as he looked to her.
"No need to be sorry" she spoke.
"You ok?" he asked leaning back a little.
"Hmm, thank you for dinner. I set the leftovers in the fridge" she spoke leaning back a little looking to him.
"No need to thank me, for the 100th time" Hige spoke snickering wrapping an arm across her shoulders. Snickering for a moment stretching her legs out in front of her.
"Soo… I was thinking..." Hige spoke up. Arching an eyebrow looking over to him.
"What?" she asked.
"...Just a thought. I wanted to ask what you thought about it" Hige spoke. Starring at him for a moment, waiting for him to continue.
"...and what thought might that be?" Ryoko asked, wondering where this conversation was going all of a sudden.
"You wouldn't mind being my girlfriend, would you?" Hige asked. Pausing for a moment, starring at him.
"So…. You're asking me to be your girlfriend than?"
"That's if you wanted too, didn't know if it was too soon or anything, and with you being pregnant I didn't know how you felt about having a boyfriend. You know I don't mind either way, literally. If I did, I wouldn't be here right now… I really do honestly like you. You're all I seem to think about when I'm not with you… I know you didn't or wasn't looking for anything to come of the two of us meeting or you even moving out here… it just kinda happened" Hige spoke. Watching him as he spoke, her arms wrapped around herself. Wondering if dating right now was such a good idea, but the fact of being around him as much as she has the last few weeks meant a lot. He had been there more for than anyone else had, besides Washu. Not wanting a relationship, or even wanting to find someone was the last thing on her mind. It was nice having someone new around, a new perspective on life, other than the last few years wasting it on one man, the same thing, each day.
"I don't see why not… honestly not planning on meeting anyone or wanting anything from anyone… it's been nice having you around with me, the fact that you actually show you care. I literally miss being with you when you're at work or not with me...I really do like you as well" Ryoko spoke. Smiling softly Hige looked to her, lowering his head meeting her gaze. Looking to him pausing for a moment, the two of them smiling. Shaking her head slightly lifting an arm resting her hand along the side of her neck looking to the floor for a moment.
"We'll see what happens, I'm in no rush for anything to go anywhere further, you know what I mean…" Hige spoke snickering.
"I know what you mean..."Ryoko spoke. Tightening his arm around her Ryoko leaned against him a little more. For the first time in her life, she felt like she could just breath… relax, and be herself for a change.
Leaning back against the couch sitting cross legged Ryoko set her laptop on her laptop looking to the screen for a moment.
"So are you going to be in the wedding or not?" Washu asked suddenly appearing in the chair off to the side of the couch. Pausing for a moment Ryoko glanced to her mother eyeing her.
"Ayeka was asking...the other girls have matching dresses that they picked up today in town, you didn't get one?" Washu asked stretching her arms above her head yawning.
"No, did you see me try any on, are you wearing one?" Ryoko asked glancing to the TV for a moment than back to Washu.
"No, you literally think you'd see me as a brides maid…"
"Exactly my point" Ryoko spoke.
"Hmm...ok. You coming over Friday?" Washu asked.
"It doesn't matter."
"Hige working this weekend?" Washu asked. Looking to her mother for a moment setting her laptop on the coffee table in front of her.
"Yes, and no he's not coming. It was awkward enough when Tenchi came over the other day… unless you want Tenchi getting his ass beat on his wedding day, than it's not a good idea. If it weren't for Ayeka I wouldn't even be going to the damn thing" Ryoko spoke. Shrugging Washu crossed her arms looking to the TV than back to Ryoko.
"I know, I feel the same way."
"Did Sasami need any help with cooking or anything?" Ryoko asked.
"I don't know, she's gonna start everything Friday night. So how are you and Hige doing? … is he still here?" Washu asked glancing around the room for a moment.
"No, he went home to get some extra work done. We're fine…" Ryoko replied.
"Are ya'll dating yet?" Washu asked. Shaking her head Ryoko wrapped her arms around herself.
"Does it really matter…" Ryoko asked looking to Washu for a second. Shrugging her arms Washu yawned widely stretching her arms above her head.
"Not really…you feeling ok by the way?" Washu asked leaning her arms on her knees.
"I'm fine… are you done now?" Ryoko asked arching an eyebrow looking to her mother.
"No… tomorrow come over and I'll do an ultrasound on the baby to make sure its growing ok, check its weight. You're almost 4 months now so we might be able to find out the gender" Washu spoke. Starring at her for a moment Ryoko glanced to her laptop.
"What time?" Ryoko asked glancing back to her mother.
"Doesn't matter, whenever you show up...bring Hige if you wanted" Washu spoke. Arching an eyebrow Ryoko eyed her mother as she snickered, suddenly disappearing.
Rolling to her back lifting a hand placing it over her face closing her eyes sighing deeply. Placing her other hand on her stomach, wishing she could just sleep a little longer. Running her hand over her stomach gently, she actually had a baby bump. Sighing deeply, suddenly she felt the baby move. Pausing for a moment, it moved again. Smiling softly she ran her hand over her stomach again, the baby moved a couple times. Opening her eyes sighing deeply rushing to the bathroom feeling sick.
Letting her fingers run through her hair turning the coffee pot on. Glancing to the time it was just 7 a.m. Hige already texting telling her good morning, getting ready to lay down from working overnight. Sighing deeply, still feeling sick to her stomach Ryoko turned grabbing a coffee cup from the cabinet turning setting her cup down waiting for the coffee brewer to heat up.
"You're up early" Washu spoke coming up to the island counter leaning her elbows on the countertop. Rolling her eyes Ryoko glanced to Washu for a second placing her cup up to the coffee brewer pressing start.
"What?" Ryoko asked turning as she leaned her back against the counter behind her folding her arms across her stomach.
"The gang's going out for lunch in town, then going to get last minute stuff. You wanna come?" Washu asked watching her for a moment.
"No" Ryoko spoke.
"Why not…?" Washu asked raising an eyebrow.
"No" Ryoko spoke again turning looking to the cup as the coffee finished. Eyeing her for a moment Washu looked over her.
"Is Hige here?" Washu asked looking around behind her out of the kitchen for a moment.
"No" Ryoko spoke holding her coffee cup taking a sip.
"Well, aren't we a lovely bunch this morning" Washu spoke. Eyeing her over her cup Ryoko took a long sip of her coffee.
"Ok well…" Washu spoke shrugging leaning back a little.
"I'm not going… come over when you want" Washu spoke saluting, then disappearing. Sighing deeply, taking a sip of her coffee suddenly teleporting into the bathroom.
Leaning up in the chair Ryoko looked to Washu sitting next to her on her pillow cushion chair as she typed rapidly on her keyboard.
"Looks good so far" Washu spoke looking up to the holographic big screen in front of the two of them to the ultrasound pictures. Pressing a couple buttons the screen changed to a video of the ultrasound, the baby moved around as you could hear the heartbeat.
"Sounds good… and from the looks of it…" Washu spoke as she pressed another couple buttons.
"...You are having a girl" Washu spoke looking to the screen, then turning on the cushion chair looking to Ryoko. Pausing for a second Ryoko starred at the screen, then looked to her mother.
"Really?" she asked.
"Hmm…you're right at 16 ½ weeks so far… she looks good. She's about the size of a tennis ball right now." Starring at the screen for a moment Ryoko could make out her head, her legs and arms. Smiling softly Washu looked back at the screen.
"You want some of the pictures?" Washu asked.
"What?" Ryoko asked.
"I can print them if you want" Washu spoke.
"Ok… don't say anything to anyone right now" Ryoko spoke, wrapping her arms around herself.
"I won't" Washu replied as she turned towards her keyboard pressing a couple hundred buttons all at once. Turning her head reaching a handout a couple pictures started printing out from near her feet as she turned handing them to Ryoko.
"Have you felt her move any?" Washu asked.
"Yea, she's been moving some" Ryoko spoke reaching for the ultrasound pictures looking to them.
"You been feeling ok?, those morning sickness pills working?"
"Sometimes they do… and yea I've been feeling ok" Ryoko spoke lifting her gaze looking to her mother.
"Good… any concerns…worries?" Washu asked as she turned fully around sitting crossed legged looking to Ryoko. Shaking her head Ryoko held the pictures in her hands looking to them.
"Feels kinda weird huh… theirs a lill being inside you, growing…" Washu spoke smiling. Shrugging a little Ryoko leaned back a little.
"You ok?."
"Yea, why didn't you go with the others today?" Ryoko asked looking to Washu. Shrugging Washu yawned widely stretching her arms above her head.
"Didn't have any need too… it more so a wedding lunch" Washu spoke. Suddenly the two of them turned their head as someone knocked. The door appeared out of nowhere in the darkness as Yosho poked his head in.
"Oh.. Hi Ryoko… I'm not interrupting anything am I?" he spoke pausing halfway thru the door.
"No, come on in" Washu spoke snapping a finger as the holographic screen behind her disappeared.
"I brought some tea.. If I knew you were here Ryoko I would've brought another cup" Yosho spoke making his way thru the lab holding the small tray.
"You're fine… I wasn't staying long anyways" Ryoko spoke as he came up between the two of them as a cushion chair popped up as he sat. Snapping her fingers Washu held a hand up as another teacup fell out of a black hole then just as soon disappeared.
"Oh, don't rush off to soon. It's good to see you" Yosho spoke looking to her. Smiling softly Washu held a cup as Yosho filled it with tea, Washu handing it to Ryoko.
"Thanks…" she spoke grabbing it. Always loving his tea, he made the best tasting tea, ever.
"You didn't go with everyone either?" Ryoko asked looking to him lifting her other hand holding her cup of hot tea.
"No my dear… never been one for crowds or shopping, you either huh?" Yosho asked glancing to her, then finished pouring Washu's tea handing her her cup.
"Yea.." Ryoko spoke, sipping her tea.
"Everything ok… how is the baby doing?" Yosho asked as he poured his tea, setting the tea kettle off to the side on top of another pillow cushion that appeared.
"Good so far" Ryoko spoke, glancing down to the ultrasound pictures, grabbing them holding them out to Yosho. Smiling he grabbed them looking over them closely.
"Hmm...so little. You know if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask" he spoke looking to her handing them back to her.
"I know…" Ryoko spoke setting the pictures on her lap.
"Can I tell him?" Washu asked smiling widely looking to Ryoko. Arching an eyebrow Yosho looked to her, then back to Ryoko. Sighing shaking her head sipping her tea.
"What?."
"It's a little girl" Washu spoke looking to Yosho.
"Ah… a girl. That's wonderful."
"Yea, the others don't know yet, try not to say anything ok" Washu spoke. Nodding his head Yosho sipped his head.
"I know nothing." Looking to her cup for a moment, Ryoko took a long sip of her green tea.
"Are you excited?" Yosho asked looking to Ryoko. Lifting her gaze looking to him for a moment, nodding.
"As excited as anyone else I guess or to be expected…" she spoke.
"Embrace it my dear… don't let whatever happen, hinder you from such joy. Every little one is a blessing." Looking to her tea as he spoke, gulping leaning back a little against the chair. Watching her for a moment Washu crossed her legs sipping her tea.
"Will you be here for the wedding?" Yosho asked glancing to Ryoko than to his tea.
"Yea."
"Good, we miss not having you around. But it does make it nice being on your own hmm, live a little" Yosho spoke taking a drink of his tea.
"True…" Ryoko spoke looking to him. Snickering Washu grabbed the tea kettle refilling her cup.
"Hmmm...anyone up for some chess?" he asked looking to Washu, then to Ryoko. Arching an eyebrow meeting his gaze Ryoko paused for a moment.
"I'm game!" Washu spoke smiling placing the tea kettle back. Taking a long sip of her tea finishing it off Ryoko looked to her cup.
Appearing in the living room glancing around for a moment making her way to the end table near the couch turning the lamp on. Reaching to her back pocket for her phone and the ultrasound pictures glancing to them for a moment. Sighing deeply turning she teleported into her bedroom flicking the light switch wanting to get changed glancing to the time. Arching an eyebrow, it was already almost 4 in the afternoon. Had she really been over at Washu's lab that long?. Looking to her phone texting Hige letting him know she got home ok. Coming up to her dresser grabbing some comfy clothes getting changed.
Teleporting into living room holding her phone in her hands pausing looking to the door as someone knocked. Arching an eyebrow coming up to the door, shaking her head opening the door as Hige stood there looking to her he smiled holding 2 iced cold coffee drinks in his hands .
"Hey hey love" he spoke taking a step kissing her forehead.
"I thought you had to work tonight" Ryoko spoke smiling softly leaning into him as he hugged her.
"I do, just thought I'd stop by real quick" Hige spoke looking over her leaning back holding up a coffee drink.
"Thanks…" Ryoko spoke taking a couple steps back as Hige stepped in closing the door behind him.
"Everything go ok today, you said you were at your moms?" Hige asked looking to her taking a drink of his coffee.
"Yea, it went well actually...how was your day?."
"Stupidly long… worked all day from home. Slept for a bit, than back at it again… glad I'm off the next 2 nights after this" Hige spoke following her to the couch as both of them sat close beside each other.
"Yea…. Sucks doesn't it?" Ryoko asked leaning back against the couch sipping her drink. Snickering Hige shook his head glancing around the living room for a moment, than back to her.
"So will I see you tomorrow?" he asked.
"Yea, I'm not heading to their house till probably around 12 or 1… I'll be back after dinner so… the wedding Saturday isn't until like lunch time" Ryoko spoke shrugging looking to her drink taking a long sip. Looking over her for a good moment, tilting his head as Ryoko turned her head meeting his gaze.
"Ya know you don't have to go" he spoke. Rolling her eyes taking a deep breath leaning against him a little more on the couch.
"I know but it means a lot to Ayeka… the shit I do for people..." Ryoko spoke sighing rubbing the side of her face.
"Stop doing what you think other people want you to do… what does Ryoko want to do?" Hige asked. Taking a long sip of her coffee drink glancing to him for a second. Shrugging Ryoko wrapped her other arm around herself looking to her drink. Tightening his grip around her leaning his head against hers.
"How's the little one doing?" Hige asked taking a sip of his cold coffee looking to her.
"She's doing ok…"
"That's good, did you have a doctors appointment… wait, she?" Hige asked arching an eyebrow.
"Hmm...she's the size of a tennis ball…" Ryoko spoke. Snickering a little Hige watched her for a second.
"Really… that's awesome… a little girl. Everything go ok than?" Hige asked leaning up a little looking to her. Nodding her head Ryoko took a long sip of her drink.
"Hmm...regardless of her not being my kid but that makes me excited. Kids are so much fun" Hige spoke. Lifting her eyes looking to him smiling softly. The two of them looking to each other for a moment, Hige grinned as he winked. Snickering Ryoko smiled shaking her head.
"Well… sorry to cut this short love, I gotta get going. You gonna be ok?" Hige asked. Nodding her head sipping her drink. Watching her for a moment, lifting a hand gently letting his fingers graze her chin. Leaning to her softly kissing her, slowly leaning back breaking the kiss. Letting her amber eyes look over his eyes meeting his gaze, Ryoko leaned to him kissing him once more. Breaking the kiss slowly Ryoko leaned back biting her bottom lip. Snickering Hige lowered his gaze looking to her. Smiling softly Hige wrapped his arms around her hugging her.
