Crazybeebee: If you go into the URL, you can remove the "m." and replace it with www. And it will change to a computer model. I'm glad you're having fun so far into Compromise.

Jonjon: ask and you shall receive.

Nobo: I'm glad you've had so much fun. I've tried to put a lot of effort into the story set up and structure. I understand you liking the Passion ending, I had a feeling a lot of people were looking for that ending. I like the idea of Sonic and Surge ending up together, I just thought the canon ending would be… more cathartic. It also allows for the reader imagination to go further, giving Surge a place in the world for your wildest fantasies while dealing with the issue of a crowded cast.

Davidshad: I… am Sorry, my translator is not giving me a good translation of your review.

Sonic jerked around as he saw Surge's body flying through the air, "SURGE, ARE YOU OK?" Sonic felt his heart clench up as she hit the ground.

"HEDGEHOG, DON'T IGNORE ME!" Eggman shouted and ATLAS threw a punch into the sand dune in front of Sonic.

Sonic gathered up the emeralds and zipped over to Surge, "Come on, I got-"

"I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU!" Eggman bellowed from inside ATLAS. The giant Gorilla badnik pursued.

"Eggman, she's hurt!" Sonic shouted at his foe, feeling his heart continue to tight as the possibilities of what could be wrong with her began to roll in. The worst idea came to light when Sonic got to her body.

He had a few moments before Eggman would get there. He needed to make the most of his time. Sonic stretched his soul out to the Chaos Emeralds Sonic felt the energy in the Chaos Emeralds work their way through his body as they rose around him.

Sonic closed his eyes as his body began to burn, before his eyes flashed open. Sonic burned with golden energy. Super Sonic joined the fight. He landed on the ground, and turned to face Eggman.

ATLAS stopped, and waited as Super Sonic glared at it.

He seemed to be taking a step back.

Super Sonic turned to the twisted form of Surge. He walked over to her, and felt for a pulse. Nothing. Super Sonic began to flood her body with Chaos Energy.

"DON'T GET TOO COMFORTABLE HEDGEHOG!" Eggman's voice shouted from ATLAS. Super Sonic jerked around as the fist came straight into his body.

Sonic was launched airborne from the blow, with Surge getting tossed to the ground. Super Sonic actually got hurt from the punch. Somehow, Eggman was still able to hurt him.

Sonic began to plummet back down to the earth, "EGGMAN!" Super Sonic bolted down towards the ground. He boosted his body with Chaos energy aiming straight for the giant Super Badnik.

ATLAS seemed to bend its back to look up at Super Sonic shot down towards ATLAS's chest. He slammed into ATLAS's shield on its chest.

The shield flashed bright yellow, but Super Sonic kept the pressure on the Super Badnik. The shields began to turn a darker color, then to orange. Super Sonic shouted as he felt his body getting compressed, but Sonic kept pressing down.

"I'VE GOT YOU, HEDGEHOG!" Eggman's voice echoed through ATLAS, despite the fact that the badnik was clearly stuck blocking Sonic's attack.

"SHE'S HURT!" Sonic shouted, balling his fist.

"THAT'S THE IDEA, HEDGEHOG!" Eggman's angry scream stirred something inside Sonic.

Super Sonic screamed and blasted the shield as he pressed down. He felt a bloody rage inside of him. The shield flashed a dark red and ATLAS was blasted onto its back.

Super Sonic watched the giant badnik lay back. It seemed to be down, and taking a breather. Sonic hoped it was down for good.

It didn't matter, Sonic hovered over to Surge's body. He picked her up, and pressed his forehead to hers. Sonic began to filled Surge with energy. He felt something inside of her, like she could be brought back.

Sonic concentrated as hard as he could. The energy began to flow back into Surge's body. She was going to live.

"HEDGEHOG!" Eggman's static-y voice came through as the giant gorilla badnik rose to step, "I'M NOT DONE!"

Sonic tried to stay focused when he felt the sun stop shinning on him.

"I'M GOING TO CRUSH YOU AND YOUR LITTLE GIRLFRIEND LIKE A BUG!" Eggman shouted from inside ATLAS. The giant foot raised over Super Sonic and Surge's head told Sonic everything he needed to know.

And something snapped. Sonic thrust his hand upward, "NO!" Chaos energy flew from his body as he accidently fired a Chaos Blast. The Energy shot out and blast everything away from him. Surge, The badnik, the sand, everything.

The force was so great that Surge's headband flew off her head, and stuck out of a sand dune defiantly. The Badnik lost its right foot, the one had threatened to crush the two. Its arms weren't much better, having the ends crumpled up like a tight aluminum ball.

Sonic panted as his anger finally let out. Then he realized what he'd done. He saw the badnik wasn't moving, he saw Surge's dropped form.

He hoped Eggman was ok, but his primary concern was Surge. He zipped over to her and-

His super ran out. Super Sonic became normal Sonic, right as he grabbed her. Sonic cradled her head.

"No… Nononono!" Sonic shouted, and pulled her head closer to his, brushing their foreheads together. He failed, he failed her. He sighed, "I'm so sorry." Sonic felt his throat tighten.

Then… he felt something as he cradled her neck. A thumping. Sonic blinked for a moment. Did he dare to hope that she was alive?

He pressed his head lower to her nose. He could feel and hear the light breathing coming from her.

"Mmmm…. Mom, no more wild parties." Surge mumbled with a strangely lighter tone in her voice. Sonic held her in his arms to make sure he didn't drop her and risk further injury. Still, something about her made Sonic feel… off.

"Uh…. Mom, I don't feel very good… momma, can I stay home." Surge mumbled softly… sweetly. Did she have… brain damage.

Sonic gulped, "Hey… Hey… are you ok?" He dared to ask. Part of him didn't want to know the answer.

"Hrnnnn." Surge made the sound that made Sonic raise an eyebrow. Her eyes slowly opened, "M…mom?" her blue eyes landed on Sonic's face.

She froze for a moment. Then she started panting aggressively.

"Um-" Sonic started and gave her a weak, comforting smile.

She panted, "Y-You!" She was practically hyperventilating.

"Hey…" Sonic mumbled, still cautious, "Are you ok?"

"Y-you're Sonic the hedgehog… SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!" She jumped out of his arms and began to bounce up and down. She squealed in a high pitch and rolled out of Sonic's arms.

Sonic winced, "S-Surge?" She was acting really… really weird.

"Surge?" Surge looked left and right before pointing to herself.

Sonic nodded slowly.

"That's not… you know what, that's a cool name, way cooler than Sarah." Surge smiled at Sonic, her eyes wide.

"Are…. Are you feeling ok?" Sonic asked nervously. Was she playing a trick on him? She sounded like a real fangirl, which if anything, made Sonic more scared.

Surge flashed a cheerful, cheeky grin at him, "I got to meet THE Sonic the Hedgehog. I feel great. A little confused about WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING!" She jerked around and covered her mouth, "I- I'm sorry, I don't know why I AM SAYING STUPID SHIT!"

Surge… Sarah, clutched her head, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!'

Sonic, for his part, didn't know what to think. What was going on? She'd seemed to act nice, and then she just had random outburst like Surge had come back.

Sonic walked over to poor Sarah as everyone got closer.

Amy squinted at the Tenrec who was bunched up into a ball. Kit ran over and hugged Surge/Sarah's leg. The Tenrec looked down at the fennec, confused and pained. She seemed to smile and hug the Fennec, and said, "FUCKING HELP ME KIT! THEY'VE DONE SOME- sorry, I'm so sorry!" She was crying, tears pouring out of her eyes.

Tails walked up, "What's going on? She seems… different."

"I don't know. I tried to heal her with the chaos emeralds, but Eggman kept interrupting us and… Well, she woke up like this." Sonic tried to explain, waving his arms around.

"Why are you so MEAN!" Sarah whimpered, clutching her head before her head twitched, "WHY ARE YOU SO PATHETIC!"

Sarah collapsed back down, onto the ground, crying, "Please, leave me alone!"

Sonic walked closer to her, "Hey… Hey Sarah, listen… can I talk to Surge."

Sarah looked up at him as if he was crazy, "Wh-what?"

"Hey… We don't know what's going on with you, but I'd like to talk with the other you. Can you let her out?" Sonic asked softly.

Amy looked at him cautiously, "Sonic, I don't think that's a good idea."

Sonic kept his focus on the young Tenrec Girl who seemed so scared, "Please… trust me. I won't let anything bad happen to you."

She looked very, very scared, but she nodded and closed her eyes. Her hands stopped shaking, and balled a fist. Her back straightened, and her breathing became angry, "FAKER, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?"

"I don't know… I tried to heal you. I did." Sonic mumbled guiltily. He didn't even want to look her in the eyes.

She had no problem closing the distance and grabbing him, "WELL FUCKING FIX ME! YOU SAID YOU'D HELP ME!"

"I meant it!" Sonic pleaded back. He did, he was going to help her, "I'm going to do everything I can."

"You fucking better!" Surge shouted angrily.

"We shout go back to my lab. I'd like to run some scans." Tails mumbled, scratching his chin.

Sonic nodded, and looked at Surge, who was looking off in the distance at the sun, as if enjoying for the last time, "Whatever." She scratched Kit's head… affectionately.

Things were really bad.

They made their way back to the lab. Surge's eyes went dim, and her ears deflated as the warp ring closed.

"W-What are you looking for, why do I sound so mean?" Sarah asked with a tight throat. Her form was so small as she pushed her shoulders into her chest. Sonic wrapped an arm around her to try and calm her down.

"We just want to make sure everything is alright." Sonic smiled at her, trying to make her more comfortable.

"We're just making sure you don't have a brain tumor or something." Tails exclaimed, ever so helpfully.

Sonic tightened his hug as she tensed up. Sonic mumbled, "I think you'll be fine. We're just making sure."

Sarah looked down at her chest, "I'm older than I remember." She muttered softly, before wincing again.

They entered the lab, and Sonic saw Tails wheel out a chair with a strange hat that seemed to have a metal cap.

Tails gestured to the chair, "Please take a seat, and remain calm."

Sarah stood beside Sonic and looked at him, seeming to be very, very skittish. Sonic nodded, "You'll be fine." Sonic mumbled at her..

Sarah walked over and sat in the chair. Tails put the cap on her head and went back to the computer. Sonic walked over and she gripped his hand, "I'm scared…. I know, stop being mean!" Sarah whimpered.

Sonic grabbed her hand, "I'm sure everything is going to be fine… It's just…. Some stuff happened ok?" Sonic smiled at her.

"Stuff?" Sarah mumbled nervously. Sonic realized he might have a chance to maybe calm her down with a distraction.

"Yeah… we went on an adventure. I really needed your help." Sonic heard his voice actually get a little higher. Her eyes lit up, but she winced again.

"Did…. Did I do good?" She whispered softly as her cap began to light up, and made a light vibrating noise. Sarah winced once again, clutching his hand tighter, "I don't know…" She mumbled to herself.

"You were amazing. You were so brave, and awesome. I loved almost every moment of our time together." Sonic smiled down at her. Sarah seemed to light up with joy.

Then she blinked as the vibrating from the cap got louder, "She's quiet. She wants you to keep going."

"You were awesome, you had my back, even if you weren't always happy about it. I'm glad I got to work with you." Sonic gulped. She was going to be fine… right?

He realized that her cheeks were glowing at Sonic.

"Alright, I finished the scans." Tails called out from the computer. He jumped out of his chair and walked over, "I'm sending it to the hospital, and we'll hopefully get good news back."

"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH ME, YOU MUTANT FREAK!" Surge's tone and posture burst onto the scene. Her posture was lower, and she seemed to pant angrily. Surge ripped the cap off her head and jumped out the chair angrily.

Then Sarah came back, and hugged her chest, "I- I'm sorry…"

Sonic held up his hands and approached her cautiously, "I get it, you're both scared. We're going to try and help you."

"How did this happen?" Sarah mumbled with tears in her eyes. Her body was shaking.

Sonic hugged her and pressed his head against hers, "I messed up."

"You might not be that far off." Tails mumbled nervously.

Surge returned, and sparked in Sonic's arms, "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?"

"W-Well, the chaos emeralds heal injuries that you sustain." Tails started, his tails twirling softly, "Well… from what we know…. "Surge" came from severe trauma."

Surge got… quiet, "What are you saying?"

Sonic was catching on. It was…. Terrifying, to think that a person could be a wound that needed to be healed.

"Well, mental scarring could be considered an actual scar. The chaos emeralds heal Sonic's scars, and "Surge" could be considered a scar." Tails mumbled as Kit came over and cuddled Surge's leg.

"So… I'm going to be fucking "healed"?" Surge asked, her voice sounding small and distance, "When?"

"Well… I don't know. Chaos Emeralds are magical. There isn't really a science behind them." Tails explained, "It could be a day, a month or forever."

Sonic didn't know which of those was worse.

Surge slumped, and Sarah came back out, "Wait… you mean I could be stuck with her in my head? She's mean, horrible. Please tell me you can fix this!" Sarah begged.

Sonic turned to Tails, who looked nervous about the whole situation. He then turned back to Sarah, "Can I… talk to Surge. Please, I owe her."

Sarah looked at him sheepishly, but nodded and closed her eyes.

"-LITTLE SHIT!" Surge burst out, panting. Her shoulders huffed with exhaustion.

"Can we talk, you and me, outside?" Sonic asked carefully.

Surge turned to glare at him, but nodded, and she walked towards the doorway, scratching Kit's head as she moved.

They walked out under the sky and sat down.

The moon was up in front of them. Surge pulled her quills up and put her head band on. Sonic sat down right next to her.

"I…. I tried…" Sonic didn't know how to talk to her. He probably shouldn't have felt how he did, but Sonic didn't want her to disappear. He cared about her, she was…

"Shut up." She grumbled as her form slumped on the edge of the rocky cliffside. She kicked her legs off the side, looking down at the rocky white waves below.

Sonic scooted closer to her. She didn't seem to notice or care.

She huffed, "You know what, you fucking asshole? I was actually pretty happy that I got this whole fucking trip. I actually got to call you my fucking friend! I came back for you after you told me to give up my past! And Now YOU'VE FUCKED ME HARD!" Surge jerked her head angrily down, throwing her fists into her quills. Her arms were shaking.

"I didn't want to hurt you." Sonic mumbled, scooting up to brush his hip against hers, trying to be reassuring, but he was pretty sure he was failing.

"I could trick the fucking system!" Surge growled, "I could jump right now, fuck us both!" She growled.

Sonic wrapped an arm around her, and she finally noticed how close he was, "Listen, please. I don't wat you to disappear, but I don't want… the old you to suffer either. Please."

Surge… actually leaned against him, "What would you do? If you were in this shit show? Shut up!" Surge shouted to herself. She looked absolutely miserable.

Sonic gulped before thinking. He really didn't have an answer to that. What would he do? He'd probably hang out with Tails, Amy and Knuckles…

"I'd spend time with my friends and family, and make the most of every day." Sonic sighed, looking down at his legs.

Surge snorted, before leaning back, "Well, I'm the lone fucking loser. Shut up, they aren't my parents." Surge growled to herself.

Sonic leaned his head against hers as she began to twitch angrily. Her body seemed to convulse from frustration.

"Surge… It'll be ok. We don't know what will happen… who knows, maybe-" Sonic started, trying to be comforting.

"What, I'll be trapped in the body, forced to share time with this weak little piece of shit? You know what, I'm glad Starline wiped my memories, because it would be absolute fucking torture to have to remember being like-" Surge was ranting.

"SURGE!" Sonic barked at her. It wasn't ok, and wasn't fair to Sarah.

Surge jerked her head at Sonic before looking down at the wave. She wasn't angry… she was crying, hurt, "I-… I'm scarred… I don't want to fucking die… or not exist, or what ever the fuck you want to call it!" Her arms were shaking.

Sonic pulled her in closer, and pressed his forehead against hers, "I know… I'll do everything I can to help you… both of you. You… can stay here, until you get comfortable." Sonic offered, hoping to raise her spirits.

Surge clenched her fists, now on her thighs, "Yeah… Yeah ok, we can agree on that. We'll be your fucking problem for a while… so…" She trailed off.

"What?" Sonic asked, leaning towards her.

"Could… Could you stay with me for the rest of night." Surge asked, slumping down as if she was ashamed. It took a lot for her to ask that.

"Sure." Sonic smiled, and hugged her tightly. He could feel her heartbeat thumping away in terror. Sonic shared that terror, but looked up at the moon. She was like the moon, probably going to sleep, but she'd come back again. He hoped.

/*-*/

The bed was warm, soft and nice. This was how the heroes lived, or at least how they treated their guests.

The Tenrec's eyes shot open as she sat up. Who was in control?

You are, dumbass "Surge" growled in Sarah's head.

Why do you hate me? Sarah asked in her head. She wondered if Surge could hear that.

Of course I fucking can. I had to sit through your stupid fucking rom-com dream. I certainly have to listen to your stupid fucking thought! Surge shouted in her head, making Sarah wince in pain.

Couldn't she be nice? There had to be a speck of niceness inside Surge.

Bitch, I was built to kill Sonic. Starline didn't exactly plan on "Niceness" when building a fucking murder machine! Surge barked inside Sarah's head, before grumbling, We're hungry. Let's go eat, I'm thinking a sausage and egg biscuit.

Sarah started walking, "But I'm a vegetarian-"

NO THE FUCK YOU AREN'T! Surge rammed against her head.

Sarah winced and rushed forward, attempting to run at a reasonable speed. Instead she flew off the railing and landed on… something soft.

"Whoah… good morning to you too…. Uh." The heroic voice mumbled underneath her, clearly out of breath.

Sarah rolled off, and brushed herself off, "S-Sorry, I don't know what happened." She winced at her hero.

STOP CRINGING, YOU'RE EMBARRASSING THE BOTH OF US, MORE THAN I ALREADY AM! Surge was so mean. Sarah wondered how long she was going to be stuck with such an angry voice. She felt a little ashamed of how she was hoping for Surge to disappear.

SHUT THE FUCK UP, I DON'T NEED YOUR PITY! Surge shouted angrily in her skull.

Sarah frowned, and the blue hedgehog seemed to notice, "Hey, Are you alright?"

"I…uh." She wasn't really sure how to answered.

It's not like he doesn't already fucking know Surge growled inside Sarah's head.

"You had a little trouble with the speed boost, right?" Sonic asked with a kind smile. He was so cool. "I could try to teach you how to control it. I had little my first couple laps too."

Sarah found herself unable to speak as the realization set in. She was living with THE Sonic the hedgehog. She had been to so many fan gatherings, she'd tried to get his autograph so many times, and now, here she was, sitting in his kitchen.

Sheesh, can you be a bigger suck up in your mind? Surge growled in her head.

Sarah nodded at Sonic, "You'd… do that for me."

"Yeah… of course." Sonic smiled at her.

STOP GAWKING AT HIM! Surge screamed a little defensively. WE'RE HUNGRY!

Sarah slumped down, "Could… Could I get some… some breakfast." She was so flustered around him. He was a living legend!

"Oh, yeah. I made Sausage and Eggs… That was… what Surge liked. Is that ok?" Sonic asked gulping a little like he'd done something wrong.

"Oh… uh…" Sarah started.

"Fucking awesome." Surge snorted. It felt good to get back in control, and she slumped against the stairway coolly, trying to ignore the racing in her chest. She walked over and sat down.

H-Hey, that wasn't fair! Sarah whine, the weak little shit she was. How was she going to live in this stupid, violent fucking world. She sounded so fucking naïve. STOP BEING SO MEAN, PLEASE!

Shut the fuck up, I'm gonna enjoy breakfast. Surge thought back.

"Oh, It's nice to see you're still there, Surge." Sonic smiled softy at her.

Surge flicked her nose, "Yeah, This weak little shit could never get rid of me. She doesn't have the stomach."

"Stop!" Sonic ordered at Surge, making her recoil slightly, "Stop beating her-you up."

"Whose side are you on?" Surge growled. Did he not want her back for good?

It's my body. Sarah seemed to whisper in Surge's head.

"THERE ARE NO "SIDES". There's just two people trapped in a single girl's body because I screwed up and used a magical force that I barely understood!" Sonic groaned, before slumping down, "I'm sorry… both of you. It's going to be a rough adjustment, I know it is and I won't lie. But you two need to work together."

Surge recoiled slightly. She could do it for him.

Sarah… hummed in Surge's fucking head. Could she not be annoying for five fucking minutes?

Hey… Sarah mumbled inside Surge's head.

Surge rolled her eyes as Sonic set the plate in front of her. Sausage and Eggs, right there. Surge scooped up a fork full of them.

Don't eat that, please! Sarah begged inside Surge's head.

Why the fuck not? Surge groaned in her head, apparently growling in real life as well.

"Can you two stop fighting?" Sonic groaned, slumping his head down.

"Oh, we're doing fucking great." Surge grinned, as she shoved the fork into her mouth.

STOP! Sarah whined angrily inside Surge's skull.

Why? Surge asked again, scooping up another mound of eggs and sausage.

Some poor, little piggy had to die to make that meat Sarah mumbled softly.

Surge snorted. Well, he's not getting any dead-er. I'm sure me not eating meat will fucking raise the dead. Surge could feel Sarah pushing against her control.

Sarah complained all through out breakfast. Thankfully Sonic was there to be less annoying.

"So… what do you both want to do now?" Sonic asked, but he wasn't just asking Surge.

"Oh… Uh, I want to… do what ever you want." Sarah smiled at the hedgehog, feeling anxious. She really needed to calm down, but it was SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!

HEY, YOU LITTLE SHIT! Surge barked in Sarah's head.

She winced as Sonic seemed to squint at her. Sarah realized he didn't know whom he was talking to, "It's Sarah."

"Right." Sonic nodded, before looking down at the table, "We got to figure out a way to sort you two out."

SHUT THE FUCK UP, FAKER-BOY! Surge screamed, making Sarah wince.

"Everything ok?" Sonic asked, giving Sarah a concerned look. Gosh, she loved his eyes on her.

"Oh.. she says that's a great idea." Sarah smiled, twirling one of her quills

You… oh, you little shit. Surge growled with a bit of snark and… confidence.

Sonic frowned and looked down, and began to eat his breakfast. Did he not want her? Sarah was so happy because she always wanted to be seen by him, and now… he was paying attention to her. But he seemed so sad.

"W-who was Surge?" Sarah asked.

Ooo, jealous? Surge snarked in Sarah's head.

Sonic gulped before smiling, "She was awesome. Kind of hard to get close to, but… I liked her… a lot."

Sarah could feel Surge rolling with emotions, and it was affecting her.

Sonic continued, "She… you, were strong, brave, and tough. You never really gave up or gave in, which caused me more than a few headaches." Sonic seemed to laugh at that, before frowning, looking sad, "You gave up everything to come and help me. You are a hero."

Sarah felt her throat tighten at those words. Surge was quiet as well, and Sarah could feel blood rushing to her cheeks from those words. He was so awesome.

Sarah gave her hero a hug, "Thank you for saving my life." She mumbled to him, pushing her head into his chest.

Sonic shifted awkwardly in her arms. Was she making him uncomfortable?

Stop touching him Surge growled in Sarah's head.

Sarah backed away, looking down, "S-Sorry."

"Oh-uh… no you're good. You're fine. You want… you want to go outside and learn how to run with your new speed?" Sonic asked awkwardly.

Sarah frowned, "New speed?"

"Yeah… uh, Starline made some changes to your body." Sonic smiled before slowing down with a frown, "I… Uh, don't know how to tell you this…"

Sarah felt her throat tighten. It made sense, of course. How she ran so quickly.

He fucked with your life, and made me. Surge grumbled, almost depressed.

Sarah shook her head, "I don't care, I'm better now… kind of. I'm just… living in the moment."

Sonic smiled at that, and took her outside, "Alright, so, I want you to run to me, but try and focus on where your legs are."

Sarah nodded slowly, then Sonic disappeared, and appeared off his front porch, over by a cliff, "Alright, now run to me!" He shouted at her.

Sarah moved her left leg forward, then her right, then her left.

Come on, You can go faster. The whole point of this is to get you to fucking run! Surge growled inside Sarah's head.

"Come on, you got this!" Sonic called out.

Sarah began to pick up her speed, and got to a light jog.

You're embarrassing both of us Surge spat in her head. Suddenly, Sarah felt herself lurch forward, and electricity sparked all around her.

She shot forward at Sonic, when suddenly the ground began to shake. Sarah realized that it was her lightning causing the cliff to shake.

Sarah tried to slow down.

Sonic looked worried, when the rocks around him crumpled.

GO GET HIM! Surge shouted in Sarah's head. She tried to run at him.

Surge bolted forward, and snagged Faker Boy's arm. She grabbed him and pulled him up. She grit her teeth as she dragged his body up.

He flopped onto the ground, and they panted together.

"Sheesh, asshole, You could have at least tried to help me." Surge groaned angrily at him.

Sonic laughed on his back, "S-Sorry. I wasn't thinking, Thanks Surge."

He didn't notice me Sarah mumbled in Surge's head.

Fucking duh, you didn't do anything Surge growled back.

"Hey… Sarah, why don't we try again." Sonic offered, standing up.

Surge blinked at him, before sighing, "Fine."

Sarah and Sonic practiced the rest of the day. She tried really hard. She was fast… but not nearly as fast as Surge.

Don't sweat it. You're a fucking newbie. Stop trying to be me. Surge grumbled in Sarah's head. You never will.

Sarah leaned down on the porch and sighed. Sonic sat down with her.

"S-Sonic, Do you think… I'm worse than Surge?" Sarah asked.

Sonic immediately recoiled, "No… no, why would you think that?"

"I just… I know how you act around her, and… well." Sarah trailed off. She didn't know what to say.

Sonic nodded slowly, "I see. Sarah, Surge and I, we spent pretty much the entire last week together. She's… a fighter. You… You don't seem like you like hurting people."

Sarah nodded again and slumped down even more. She even looked cooler. Sarah preferred dresses, Surge liked shorts and pants. Sarah was nice and kind, Surge was mean and aggressive.

Yeah, I'm a survivor, best start fucking respecting it. Surge grumbled in Sarah's head chaffing her brian.

Sarah nodded. Surge wore her quills up…

"I have an idea. On how you can tell the difference." Sarah jumped up, excited.

Oh shit, That actually might work Surge sounded pleased.

Sonic blinked at her, and Sarah ran inside. She found the old worn out thing. It looked like it belonged to hoodlum.

Don't diss my style. I don't talk about how fucking pathetic you look. Surge growled.

Yes you do. Sarah thought back, mildly confused.

Shut the fuck up! Surge barked. You're lucky I gave you a fucking compliment!

Sarah shrunk back down at those words. Thank you She thought back softly. Gosh, she really was weak, huh?

Sarah ran outside with the headband. She smiled at Sonic, and raised it up, "So… um… uh." She gulped a bit before saying, "She… wore this… right?"

Sonic blinked, "Yeah, that's brilliant." He caught on right away.

Sarah gave a bit more aggressive of a nod, "So when I'm not wearing this… I'm Sarah."

Surge cracked her knuckles, a little surprised she was given control once again, "Yeah… Yeah." She grumbled and put the headband on, "And Now you know it's me, Surge the Tenrec. The only one with an actual fucking spine."

"Surge, come on." Sonic groaned.

Surge waved him off, and they went inside.

Sarah felt herself given control, and she took off the uncomfortable head band, letting her quills fall free. Sarah could see Sonic looking a little uncomfortable with her.

She wasn't Surge. Surge was confident, brave, awesome.

Sarah simply smiled, and played along. They started practicing, and she could… kind of move fast. Surge was definitely quicker.

Still, She was sweaty and tired at the end of the day, so she went to bed. She was there, she was still useful.

Sarah found herself unable to sleep.

She got up as the lights went out, and looked up at the moon. Her heart ached, and so… she sang, with the hopes that her spirit would get raised.

You can't be serious Surge grumbled in her head.

Sarah looked up at the moon and closed her eyes. Maybe she wouldn't be so distant when she opened them. Maybe Sonic would look for her instead of Surge, " Follow me, I'm standing on the border of everything."

Her throat felt tight as she continued, " Listen close, Can you hear the spirits sing, Lost messages of long ago?"

She was stuck with another person in her head. A person who was angry and bitter.

I'm not fucking bitter, I just know what happened to me. Surge growled back, but Sarah just wanted to be left alone.

Leave the life you knew before, Surge growled, sounding frustrated with Sarah, See a new world worth fighting for!

Sarah gulped and realized she was right. There was no going back home, not with Surge inside her, " Find the truth of who I'm meant to become, Another path I must now walk on."

Sarah felt… alone. Sonic didn't seem to notice her, only Surge, " I'm here, Reaching far across these new frontiers!"

She was terrified of the idea that lurked in her mind: That no one who was around her would like her for herself, "With my life I fight this fear!"

She clasped her hands together, "In my hands I hold the ones I love! Walk forward through the cold dawn!"

Sarah looked down. Singing wasn't going to change anything, " Always to new horizons…"

Sheesh, could you be any more mopey? Surge growled.

Sarah sighed, when a pair of hands wrapped around her. She looked up and saw Sonic standing there, and he pressed his forehead against hers, " Come with me, We'll travel through the trials and tragedy."

She leaned against him, feeling warmed by his presence. He continued, "Blessed and bleak, Can you hear the spirits shout the secrets in their melodies?"

Sonic pulled away and ran off for a bit, "DREAM! Explore the mysteries!"

Sarah ran after him, feeling a bit of hope burning. She tried to find that speed that Surge had. It still seemed to be locked away.

"BREATHE!" Sonic shouted at her.

Sarah huffed, "A new life is revealed to me"

Sonic stopped and ran back to her, holding out a hand for her. He and Surge both sang at once, with Surge singing in her head, "Once again we'll start our story anew"

Sarah Smiled and joined them, pressed in her head to Sonic's, her hero's, "Don't be afraid I will be with you!"

She wasn't alone, and Sonic did notice her. He smiled and closed his eyes, singing, "I'm here, Reaching far across these new frontiers!"

Sonic smiled at her, " With my life I fight this fear!"

They smiled and sang together, hands clasped, " In my hands I hold the ones I love!"

Sarah sang with him, higher in tone. He was Sonic, he wouldn't hurt her, "Walk forward through the cold dawn, Always to new horizons!"

Sarah hugged him, before backing away and looking up at the moon, " Standing here, The way ahead's becoming clear,"

She looked back at Sonic, and had a smile on her face, " All across these new frontiers, In my hands I hold the ones I love."

Sonic sang along with her, " Walk forward through the cold dawn, Always to new horizons!" They laughed together.

Sonic smiled at her, before getting serious, " I'm Sorry. I know you've run into problems, but I'll be here to help you. I promise."

Sheesh, he's really buttering you up Was Surge jealous?

Sarah held out her arm, "Well, If you believe in me, I think I can do anything." She smiled at Sonic, because she meant every word.

Sonic would not let her down.

Well… that was longer than I thought it would be. Originally, it was going to end with Sonic's part, but I thought that would cheat Surge/Sarah. This was my other dark ending, where Surge/Sarah were cursed to live without fully controlling their body.

I have one more that is kind of dark, but I'll keep that in reserve.

I will say that I did have a sort of Super Hero version of this planned, but I might shelve that for a future project... maybe. :)

The Song was "I'm Here" from Sonic Frontiers.
